Itunes istallation on a PC running Windows XP 64 bit
itunes is available as XP 32 bit or windows Vista 64 bit. Neither will install and work on my PC.
Is there any way around this problem?

itunes 10 stopped playing tracks when I clicked on them. So have just reinstalled ver10 64 bit on pc running Win 7 64bit, rebooted computer but still won't play. Have recently updated Nvidia display drivers (64bit) but wouldn't think this would affect sound card.
Solved. It was the Nvidia driver update that caused the problem. Have now disabled enhancements and all OK now.

After recently installing itunes on my new PC running windows 8, the CD/DVD drives no longer works, gives a code 19 message. Seems itunes is impacting the registry of the DVD drive. What is best solution to keep running itunes normally in the future & get the CD/DVD drive working again? if I delete the upper / lower registry keys what other functions are impacted? I see others say itunes asks for a reinstall...then same problem all over again! THX

First try updating to iTunes 11.1.5.5, using an installer downloaded from the Apple website:

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

Have just install itunes on a new PC running windows 8 and I am getting very bad distortion when playing music, any ideas. Music on web (youtube) is working fine.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
