Itunes, just frustrating..authorize, deauthorize, HELP!!!
Hi all,
Before we owned our Macs we had itunes on a few other computers, which of course all died, etc. All my songs are on itunes but won't sync to my ipod. When I click on a song or movie it says my limit of 5 computers have been used and one must be deauthorized.
When I got into my itunes account to do exactly that it tells me only 3 computers are authorized under my itunes account. There's the puzzle!
I know I deauthorized all the other computers at some point or another and we only have the 3 computers we own now authorized, but yet I get that message for some songs that there's 5 when my itunes account says 3..

These problems happen occasionally, call Apple support and ask them to fix it for you... If you already have reset your 5 machines once before you will have to do it.
Try reinstalling iTunes as well

Fixed the problem by going to settings/store and logging out with apple ID. Then logged back in with password and updates, apps, and iTunes store seem to work ok now.

ITunes just stopped working. HELP.
I have the latest version and have had no problems until today. When I opened iTunes it looked like it was installing something, then give me unknown error 200 and says it can't open.

The only things I can think that might have messed with iTunes is the fact that I recently installed GearPlayer (a transcription program) and an audio conversion program. Perhaps one of those did something with my audio settings. Any hints on how to find out? I'm home after surgery and need my iTunes

Plug the phone into a computer that is running the lates version of iTunes. The computer also needs uninterrupted access to the internet. Read through the instructions before starting the DFU. The process takes about ten minutes.
1. Once iTunes is up and running press and hold both the sleep/wake and home buttons - count to eight.
2. Let go of only the sleep/wake button - count to five.
3. Look at the computer. In a few seconds, you should see a popup. If nothing, look back at the iPhone.
If you see the Apple Logo, the DFU failed and it's doing a hard reset. From this point, you can let it finish the Hard Reset or you can re-attempt the DFU.
4. Follow the instructions on the iTunes popups. The warnings are telling you that all you information will be lost. If you consent to that data loss, then continue. -

1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo. -
I am going "Insane" - On windows 7 64 bit Itunes just stopped starting, it tries but gives up after a few mins - I have tried every reinstall-restart-that I can find in any forum, it still will not start up HELP

I cant figure out how to authorize my office computer to download songs that I have purchased. A message saying I cant do it, but gives me no link to make it happen. Frustrating.Can someone help?
If you're running iTunes 11 and you don't see the menus, press Control-B or go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":
Apple for some inexplicable reason elected to hide the menus by default in the Windows version of iTunes 11.
I doubt that this will address a download problem, though. You'll need to provide more details about that; what device you're attempting the download on, the exact error message, and other such pertinent information.

We lost access to are computers in the last two months and we want to know how to deauthorize two computers from the ituns account can you please help me please?
If you don't have access to the computers to manually deauthorize them (they were sold, stolen, etc), then you have to log into your account, deauthorize all computers, and then re-authorize the machine(s) that you want to have access. This page explains how.

have reformatted my Imac using original discs (installed leopard (10.5)) tried to do the software update but it cant download the itunes update and when it gets to the configure update screen after restart for main update, it just gets stuck. HELP!
The configure bar gets about an 1/8 full and then just does nothing. I think its lists the update as combo update? cant remember with out checking.
I have tried to do the disk verify and repair but this has made no difference.
Please let me know what i need to do, I have reformatted the mac just to start over as was clogged with a lot of useless data, I had installed lion (10.7) from the app store previously and now cant seem to find a way to re install lion. I hope I dont need to pay for it again?If you erased your hard drive, you'll need to reinstll OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to access the App store. You won't have to pay for OS X 10.7 Lion again. Did you try booting to the recovery partition by holding the command and r keys down? If that's still there, you can reinstall OS X 10.7 from there.
If you're looking to install the current iTunes, you need OS X 10.6.8 at a minimum.
If you're still trying to update OS X 10.5 Leopard, you can download the combo update from here. Download, use Disk Utility to repair permissions, apply the update, then repair permissions again. That will take you to OS X 10.5.8. -

I have anew ipad but my iTunes is on my old device . I cannot download anything from iTunes onto my new device until I have authorized it . iTunes advice is ' go to iTunes and find AUTHORIZE'. I cannot find this . Please help.
If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
