ITunes just Hangs now
Yesterday, I updated my iPhone 3GS to 3.1 and then updated iTunes to version 9.0. My iPod sync'd fine with my updated iTunes. My iPhone though just sits there. I hear the ding that a device has been plugged in, but then it just hangs the system. I have to force iTunes to shut down. I've restarted the iPhone and restarted the computer a few times. I didn't see any other thread about this. Anyone else having this problem?
Nevermind, I disabled my PC Doctor virus software, and now it will sync. I'll have to check on their website and see what the problem is.

I have my library (over 3000 photos/movies) on an external WD drive, connected to my Airport Extreme. When I start up iPhoto, nothing happens. It just hangs on the open screen and I get the beach ball. Then nothing.
It was all working fine until last night for some reason, when it suddenly just didn't work any more.
Does anyone else have experience with Airport Extreme and iPhoto 09?They should really separate out content from the structure, as iTunes does, so that the wireless is used only to house the photographs themselves and the library structure, etc. is just on your local drive.
That came to iPhoto, oh, three years ago or thereabout. That said, I don’t recommend it. And the comparison with the iTunes Library is spurious. It’s not a lot more complex than your AddressBook. The iPhoto DB tracks multiple versions, edits, slideshows, books, calendars, edits etc etc etc. Anyway:
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.

Why does itunes just hang when ipod's connected?
whenever my ipod is connected to either of my computers, itunes just locks up for 30 seconds, then you can click something for about 10 seconds, and then locks up again for 30 more seconds. this repeats the entire time the ipod is connected.
what gives?Yes - many people are having problems with their iPod Classics, and I had exactly this problem as well. I returned my iPod Classic for a full refund - I suspect that Apple let either the iPod or iTunes out too soon this time. I didn't want to risk that it wouldn't be fixable with a firmware/software update so I returned it. I'll have to delay my 160GB iPod satisfaction until they work through some of the issues.
NOTE: you should return it without paying any restocking fee. I insisted on this, and brought printouts of a number of these threads about how slow the iPod Classic is. This is essentially a defective product and you should not have to pay 15% for that. -
Everytime I open iTunes and press scan media, then iTunes just hang up
I've found when I setup my iTunes on my Win8, once I open it and click scan button (or search. I'm not sure because of I using Chinese version. It's just the button next to the "go to itunes store" button.) in the initial page, then the whole program will hang up, until you terminated it manually. I've re-setup again and again, but it's usless. Could someone tell me why? I ususally use iTunes on Win7 and get no problem on it, till I upgrade to win8....

Itunes 11 hangs when importing and try to change Screen
Hi
When I try to import cd's into itunes it impors no drama untill I try to change to browse my music library.
When I try to change screens to browse by Artist while the cd is importing itunes just hangs and I have to force quit to exit.
Any clues or suggestions.

I recently updated all of the computers in the house to itunes 11. Now when we try to import songs from homesharing, we are unable to. What happened to the conveniently located "import song" button on the old version of itunes. Please help an old mother out please!

solved the issue today. first sync with itunes, so all the stiff you bought on the mobile will be backuped.
1. uncheck sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be erased from mobile device
2. check music player on the mobile device. just the unwanted songs will still be there
3. go on the iphone to settings, general, usage, music player. there is just a few mb from the remaining unwanted songs. swipeleft and erase the content. switch iphone off and on again
4. repeat step 2. there will be no data. otherwise repeat step 3
5. check sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be back again but not the unwanted songs. -
My family shared an Itunes account and now i'm moving out and have created a new account solely for myself. Is there a way to transfer my previous purchases on the family account to my new account?
In order to continue to play and sync the music you purchased with your old account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to do so. You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer and then entering in your old account credentials.
That's all you should need to. Then just create your own account and start purchasing and using it the same you have with the old one.

Highlight the movie, go to iTunes menu ADVANCED and select create iPad and AppleTV version.

My I Mac showed an error while updating the OS and now just hangs. What should I do?
I Mac asked me to update the OS from 10.7.3. It showed an error and now the computer just hangs. Its become excuriatingly slow. Takes about 15-20 minutes to boot up and takes hours to perform any function. I tried to update the OS again but it keeps showing an error in connecting to the server. What do I do.?
Have you tried booting into the Recovery HD to check/repair your disk. Restart holding Command+R - once booted select Disk Utility and then select Macintosh HD and click on 'repair disk' If it fixes anything click repair disk again until you get a clean pass. Whilst in Disk Utility you could also 'repair disk permissions' With Macintosh HD still selected click on 'repair disk permissions'. Once done, restart as normal from the Apple menu.
Then try updating again using the 'combo', available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1582
If you still have problems you could try a Safe Boot: restart holding down the shift key until you see the grey progress bar. Once booted restart as normal from the Apple menu. -
All of a sudden I can no longer connect to iTunes store. There is no error message - it just hangs.
After 3 years of happily using iTunes store all of a sudden I can no longer connect. There is no error message, the attempted connection just hangs. Why?

Unable to download itunes 10.7, the download just hangs
I'm trying to connect my new iphone 5 to itunes but need to upgrade to 10.7....so I start the download and it gets most of the way through and then just hangs. I'm using Windows 7 on HP DV9000 and have tried numerous times....had this same problem installing itunes to begin with. We had to save the setup.exe to a USB after downloading from another PC and then run the installer on my laptop from the USB and it worked. How can I update to 107? If I try to download 10.7as in a new install will I lose all my music and playlists?

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes 10 and now it won't let me drag and drop any files from my computer into my iTunes. It lets me play the song from the folder in my computer and then it opens with iTunes and plays the song all the way through, but then if I try to play it again, it says the file cannot be located. So then I go to locate and go to the folder and all that and select it and nothing happens.
Not sure whether for instance you initially had a Yahoo optimised version of Firefox, and have now overwritten it with an official Mozilla version. Although the Mozilla version should NOT add unwanted features, but the Yahoo version may well do.
If you merely need to find the Yahoo emails page quickly just add it as a bookmark or as a bookmark on the Bookmarks toolbar and make sure that is visible.
Clicking the star icon on the location bar whilst looking at your emails will bookmark the page.
