ITunes keep syncing contacts

I connect my iPhone to my Mac and iTunes start syncing. But it keeps syncing contacts and has been doing that for more than two hours now... I have not that many contacts and certainly I have not changed them all...
What could be wrong here?
Niklas

Disable auto-syncing. Here’s how:
1. Before you plug the iPhone or iPod into the computer, go to iTunes.
2. On a Mac, go to the iTunes menu -> Preferences -> Devices.
On a PC, go to Edit -> Settings -> Devices
3. In the pop up window, look for the icon or tab that says Devices. Choose it.
4. Just below the box, you’ll see a checkbox reading "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically."
5. Check it and click OK at the bottom of the window.
Now when you plug the phone in it won't automatically star syncing.

  • Itunes not syncing contacts correctly

I cannot Sync (via iTunes) my contacts completely to my iphone.
    Symptoms :-
    -  Adding a new contact in address book  -  this works (i.e. it's copied to my iphone)
    -  Deleting a contact in address book - this does not work (I.e. it's not deleted after a sync)
    -  Adding a Group in AddressBooks - this does not work (I.e. cannot see new group in iTunes for syncing)
    -  Adding a contact on iphone  - this does not work (I.e. cannot is not tranfered do Address Book on mac)
    - Deleting a contact on iphone - this does not work (I.e. delete is not transfered to Address Book on mac)
All contacts are managed via Address Book (v6.1) on Mac.
I've tried the following to resolve this :-
    - Set iphone (4s) back to factory defaults and configure it a a new phone.  When I tried this I could not sync any contacts. I had to restore the phone from a previous backup to get contacts.
    - Exported/deleted/loaded all contacts back into Address Book
I think I had this problem on my 3Gs as well.
    Any help aprecicated.

    Partial Success ....
    Deleted everything under Library/Application Support/SyncServices
This lost all the groups out of iTunes (that no longer existed in AddressBook).
Next sync - all addresses gone from iphone.

  • Stop Itunes from syncing contacts

How do i stop Itunes from syncing my contacts with my phone?

I have a solution for you!
I was having the same issue.  I copied albums to my iPhone and then I was deleting songs that I didn't like. But then when I Synched with iTunes, the songs would reapear.  I complained about it to my husband, and he explained that iTunes was just trying to "complete" my albums.  Because in the sync setting I said I wanted that particular album.
Here's the solution.  Don't move the songs or the albums directly to your iDevice. Instead make a playlist and call it something like "My iPod Music" or "On the go".  Add your albums and individual songs to the playlist and then move the playlist to your iPod.  When you sync your playlist everything will be transferred over to your iPod. Including the Artist and Album information. But when you delete items from the playlist, they stay deleted.
One last thing, make sure you unclick all the albums in the iPod Music Sync window.
This worked with my iPhone 4S running iOS 6.01

  • How to keep Sync contacts on Mavericks 10.9, iClould, gmail, iPhone IOS 7?

    Have you ever happened?
Basically I don't want to lose time coping and pasting, doing much work to do something simple. I want to have sync my contacts from gmail account with iCloud account.
I used to have Lion Mac OS 10.7.4 which was allowing me sync my contacts from gmail into my macbook contacts. What was really beautiful because if I’d add a new contact automatically was updated into my gmail account and by default was updated into my iCloud account (1) which it’s really important in an Apple device or (2) just to have a back up in your iCloud account.
    1. If I use iCloud to save every contact, such as phone numbers, email address, etc.. (with the information that I have read) It'd be default to write emails in gmail if I am in my macbook or a pc from school, I mean it's gonna be a lot of work. , because the contacts will be in iCloud .
    2. But also if I restore, lost, sell my iPhone and I buy a new one it'll be easier if I just type my Apple ID and there's gonna be my all contacts.
However now I have got Mavericks 10.9.1 which is currently not allowing sync contact in this way, this is a big problem for me I use a lot google mail and Apple things as well. I have been making a small research about but nothing. Can you give me your opinion or solve my problem?

You can sync your Google contacts with the app,Contacts but you cannot sync between iCloud contacts and Google contacts. Just like your email does not sync between account, but to the application. It's always been that way.
If you want to email someone from your Gmail account but their address is only in iCloud, this is not a problem as Mail uses all addresses in Contacts.

  • Cannot get iTunes to sync Contacts & Calendars with Outlook

I updated iTunes to V 10.5 and updated both my iPhone 4 & iPad 2 to iOS 5 without any problems. All the apps updated smoothly. I just cannot sync with Contacts or Calendars from Outlook - keep getting the message "iTunes could not sync information to the iPhone...because a sync session could not be started. I've also Restored the iPhone. I've gone through all the suggestion in Apple Support including removing iTunes and related applications completely and downloading and re-installing iTunes. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit & Outlook 2010. Has anybody found a solution that works?

Do you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer ? Have a look at the troubleshooting on this page and see if it helps fix it : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2690 (or if you are on a Mac and have xcode installed on it : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3744)

  • Do not trust iTunes with syncing contacts

My iMac (core duo) with OSX 10.6.8 lost my contacts when I tried to disable spotlight. Also, it left me with only 17 contacts from the original 589. I would like to rebuild Address Book on the Mac with the contacts on my iPad. I fear syncing will in iTunes will end up with the OSX taking priority and wiping the contacts on the iPad copying over the iPad contacts with the 17 on the Mac. Alternative for iTunes? Or settings to look for???

Look at Federal Trade Commission website and see if their complaint process can help you at all.  I too am veteran and have been with Verizon for 10 consecutive years - no real alternative where I live and travel. Former neighbor owned the local phone, cable TV and DSL ISP until he retired and sold them to another small, local company.  He always said to complain to FTC and FCC about cell phone (then, only Verizon's) customer service operations - that they behave only as a retailer, not a service industry and definitely not as a responsible utility company.

  • Itunes and syncing contacts

Is there a way to only sync some of my contacts to my iphone from address book but not all, using itunes

In the Contacts app on your computer, create a group with the contacts you want and sync only that group.
    Select the iPhone in iTunes.
Cick the Info tab, scroll down to Contacts and select what you want to sync.

  • Itunes keeps syncing my iphone4s when no options are selected to do so.  Ipod appears to be fine.  I have latest ios version on phone.  Windows user pc.  Any help would be appreciated

I updated to the new itunes software on my windows pc.  I plugged in iphone 4s to transfer music across.  itunes then started wiping all other music, but still showing songs on phone etc.  Playlists just scrolled through as though nothing was there.  Summary on phone still showed music!
I manually manage music on the phone myself, never ticked syncing etc.  Wiped all the music off phone, and started again.  This worked once, and now has reverted back to showing less songs on the phone, but now appears to be re-adding the songs again when I've just connected it to add more music.
itunes didn't appear to have a problem when my ipod was connected.  I'm loathed to reconnect now, as I have my entire music collection on there, and do not want that to be half deleted etc.
If anyone can help, that'd be appreciated.

    hiya!
I'll try another cable, but I think I see a trip to the apple store in my near future. =(
take your cable in to be checked, too.
i was a little mysterious in my post earlier. but what i'm wondering about is a weird silent version of one of these errors:
iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod
-36 or "Disk cannot be read from or written to" error syncing iPod in iTunes
... i have seen a case where it turned out that a corrupt song file was causing the entire computer (not just itunes) to freeze up in the way you're describing (instead of returning a -69 or one of the other error messages).
what i think might be going on in these cases is that something strange happens during the "error reporting" phase of proceedings, and Windows gets desperately confused and goes into a sulk.
given that a bad cable can cause either the -36 or the -69, it's plausible that that could cause the silent version too ...
(this is all very hypothetical and conjectural, though. i could very well be barking up completely the wrong tree.)
    love, b

  • ITunes wont sync contacts - new install

Latest iTunes is open and next to it my full contact list. Only I cant get iTunes to send the data to my phone. Is there a trick to making work?

  • Itunes keeps syncing Lego Movie to my ipad and iPhone

I put the Lego movie on my ipad and iphone.  Everytime I sync to itunes... it re-puts it on there... as if it is not there.
IT IS THERE.. and a plays fine.
It's annoying because the device thinks it is isn't there for some reason.... so my sync's are extended because it puts it on every time.
    Any advice??
    Thanks.

"You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device."

  • Iam using 2 different i phones on the same itunes account, Can I keep the contacts seperate with syncing?

I have one itunes account and am using 2 iphones, is it possible to keep all the "contacts" seperate from the two devices, so that I dont have to have all of my husbands contacts in the phone book?  Or do I have to use 2 different itune accounts?

Your contacts are not part of your iTunes library.  iTunes only syncs contacts with your phone from a supported program such as Outlook or mac Address Book.  If you are trying to sync you contacts to the same program they will be merged.  You could, however, set up two contact groups within Outlook, one for your contacts and one for his.  Both groups would still besynced to both devices but you wouldn't have to look at the contact group you weren't interested in.  Another option would be for one of you to continue to sync with iTunes with, for example, Outlook and the other sync contacts with another service such as Google or iCloud (be sure to uncheck Sync Contacts on the Info tab of the the iTunes sync settings for this phone).

  • 5th gen iPod Classic will not sync contacts or calendars with itunes 9

I get the following window message when selection contacts to sycn - "iTunes will no longer sync contacts to ipod "MiPod Classic 80". Would you like iTunes to remove contacts previously copied to you ipod?"
Then is has two button choices (Don't remove contact) and (Remove Contacts).
When trying to select calendars I get a window state something like... You can no calendars to sync. Would you like to open iCal to create some. Then it give me a button to do so.
    I do have calendars.
    Anyone else have this problem?

I have the same problem. When I tell iTunes to sync Contacts, no contacts show up. It asks if I want to add contacts to my Address Book, but when I click okay, all of my 400+ contacts appear as normal in the Address Book. I just can't get iTunes to recognize that I have contacts in my address book.
I think calendars are also missing, but I'm no longer syncing calendars, so I haven't really messed with that.
I actually think the problem started when I upgraded to Snow Leopard, but I don't usually mess with my contacts sync settings, so it could've been a problem prior to that. I just upgraded to iTunes 9 last night, and that did not fix the problem.

  • IPhone 3G cannot sync contacts/calendar with iTunes 7.7 in Vista

    My environment:
    Computer - PC
OS - Windows XP Pro SP2
Apple Products - iPhone 3G with Itunes 7.7
Software - Miscrosoft Office with Outlook 2003
    Laptop Vaio FZ21M
    OS - Windows Vista SP1
Apple Products - iPhone 3G with Itunes 7.7
Software - Miscrosoft Office with Outlook 2007
When I connect my iPhone 3G to the laptop, iTunes launch, but in Info tab I don't get the option to sync Contacts or Calendar. The only message that appears is "Your contacts are being pushed to your iPhone over the air from Microsoft Exchange"
On the other hand when I connect iPhone 3G to desktop with Windows XP SP2, I get the option to sync contacts with Outlook/Gmail Address Book/Yahoo Address Book, etc. Today I performed an update to iTunes, installing version 7.7.046 ,but the problem persists.
A collegue of mine has excactly the same problem, he is also using a laptop running Windows Vista SP1 , iTunes 7.7 but Outlook 2003 instead. When he connects iPhone 3G, he doesn't get the option to sync Contacts or Calendar. Email sync option is available.
Is there anything we can do?

I had the same problem with my 3G phone.  I solved it as follows
    1) Go to preferences in your address book and delete the iCloud.  This will revert your address book to 'On My Mac'.
    2) Turn off your iCloud account in system preferences.
    3) Run iTunes, enable sync contacts and under advanced, replace information on this phone, enable contacts.
    4) Press apply button and sync should begin. Itunes will now load your contact file into the phone.
    5) Re-enable your iCloud account.

  • Need Help Transferring/Syncing Contacts TO PC

I feel like I have searched everywhere for a solution but haven't found one.  I am ultimately trying to export my contacts on my iphone 4 to an excel format. If I can do this directly, excellent.  If it's a 2-step process, fine.
I did see that I can sync my contacts from my phone to my Windows Address Book (WAB). I tried that using iTunes (Info, Sync Contacts with "Windows Contacts" and apply), but when I went to my contacts folder in windows, the only contact I saw was a contact file for the username on my computer. Every other topic I've read says that this should work, but obviously in my case it's not.
I do not have outlook or manage my phone contacts in any other application, just my phone.
Am I doing something wrong, can anyone help me out? Thank you in advance.
