ITunes keeps backing up apps despite I chose "Don't Back Up"

My iPhone5 does NOT ever sync with iTunes on my mac. I only use iTunes to back up.
I am trying to save disk space on my mac and do not want iTunes to back up anymore apps since I can easily redownload them from app store.
When I click "Back Up Now" in iTunes, I get a prompt saying "There are apps on 'iPhone_Name' which are not in your iTunes library. Would you like to back up these apps from your iPhone?", and I chose "Don't Back Up Apps". but guess what, after "(Step 2 of 4) Backing up", iTunes stubbornly starts to save all apps to my library....
what's the point of asking me whether I want to back up apps (to which I answered "No") if it still does it anyways.... or am I doing this wrong?

since 7.04 came out, Itunes keeps placing every app I ever bought on to the phone. So I will then delete them on the phone & on the screen durig sync, but they come back up 2-4 more times and place them on my phone. How do I stop this, many of these apps have not been used in 3 years.

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

ITunes keeps going to apps and locks out

iTunes 10.4 keeps crashing and going to the apps screen even when I dont want it to go there....then it locks out and becomes unresponsive and I have to force quit the application.
How can I get around this???
I am running running it on iMac G5 os 10.5.8...

ITunes keep reinstalling deactivated apps on iPhone at sync

Hi,
I have a problem with my iPhone when i sync it with iTunes. I have around a hundred apps, but not all of them are activated i iTunes. I.e. I have some of them on my iPhone and all of them in iTunes. When i sync the deactivated apps (those not ticked in iTunes) suddenly get reactivated!?
Strange thing is that it does not seem to happen at sync the same day - i.e. if I sync tomorrow it will happen again!?

To solve that issue I decided to reset my iPhone 3G to factory defaults.
But when I was trying to reset my iphone 3G (IOS 4.2.1) to factory defaults iTunes quits with error message unknown error (0xE8000001). I then simply tried another usb port of my iMac (before I was using the keyboard usb port) and uuups now I can sync my iPhone 3G again with my iMac!?!

I recently purchased two apps from your store one was 3.99 and one was 9.99 however they do not work I would like to know what steps I need to take to get my money back.

These are user-to-user forums, they are not monitored by Apple (there are too many forums/threads/messages for that to happen).

When I open iTunes store I only have the options 'iTunes U', 'Podcasts' and 'App Store'. I don't see 'Music', 'Books' etc. How do I get these?

Unfortunately you don't. Not all content types are available in all countries (due to licensing and in some cases a country's laws etc), and in the UAE there are only Apps, Podcasts, iTunes U and free books (a full list of what is available where is shown on this page) - so unfortunately you cannot purchase music, films, tv shows or paid for books from Apple. Are there other media purchase download sites in the UAE that you could use ?

I have put in all of my card details correctly but iTunes keeps saying my card is declined what don't do?

On my iphone I have gone into my iTunes account and entered all of my card details correctly however every time iTunes has told my card has been declined. There is nothing that you can do to get rid of the balance on your own. Contact iTunes Store Support and seek their assistance. I believe that they can reset your balance for you.

ITunes keeps opening?

Only recently my iTunes keeps opening itself. I haven't done much to provoke this and I don't know what i've done wrong, if anything.
I tried deleting the .plist files but that does nothing. When ever I start my computer, it opens, when I go to exit it, it opens itself again, this happens over and over until I deleted some files in the iTunes.app, now it opens and closes itself constantly
EDIT: I restored a few items, I deleted 'versions' folder in the .app and that's why it was doing that. But I have the same problem I started out with,
Whenever I exit it, it keeps starting itself up. In activity monitor, iTunes Helper and iTunes are open. I tried force quitting the helper, then iTunes, nothing worked.
Any help?

angie119, Try going to system preferences>users/groups>login items, if iTunes helper is there try highlighting it and then click the minus button. Hope this helps.

When I updated my iPhone to IOS 5, I did it from my MB Air, when my iPhone's "home" is my work 27" iMac. I figured I could just download the new OS at home where internet is fast and then sync at office and be done.
WRONG!!! So, like others here, all my apps were "gone."
Following some of what I read above, I did the following and now all my apps that I purchased in the past are downloading to my 27".
In iTunes I went to Purchased, under "Store" in left column of iTunes.
Then at the bottom of the Purchased screen was something like Download all apps, borrom right (sorry, cant see it now, its downloading all of them). Once I hit that, I could see all my apps and it looks like they are all coming back.
Now all I have to do is put them all like I had them before, folders, etc. That will be a pain BUT at least I have all of them.

Try:

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My IPod apps won't open. So I looked it up, and it said to sync the apps to itunes, i tried this, but when i try to sync, the apps won't show up on Itunes. It keeps saying "0 apps". What do i do?

Ever since yesterday, my Ipod apps won't open properly. I googled it, and couldn't find anything accurate. So i deleted all of the apps, and re-downloaded them. Now they're doing it again. I had the same issue. After searching around online I found out that you can try downloading another app (it can be any app) onto your ipod. After it finishes downloading see if your other apps open. You don't even have to keep the new app. Just see if your other ones work and you can delete the new one. That should work. If not, try to hard reset it. Take it to you nearest Apple Store and see what they have to say. You should back up you data before you go in but in your case you can not.
