ITunes Keeps Crashing with Mavericks

Ever since updating my iMac from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, I'm finding iTunes crashes after several hours of running.
I often leave iTunes running over night and then sync my podcasts up before heading to work. This has never been a problem, going back to my 3GS. It began immediately after going from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, and it happens nightly. I've got 11.1.5 update.
I don't have to keep it running all night, but it's been my routine, without fail for several years now. The only thing that changed was going to Mavericks.

I got up this morning and it had crashed again.
I filtered for iTunes and there were only three lines:
5/2/14 4:16:29.278 AM iTunes[1418]: Entered:_AMMuxedVersion2DeviceConnected, mux-device:3
5/2/14 4:16:29.281 AM iTunes[1418]: tid:3903 - unable to query device capabilities
5/2/14 4:16:41.367 AM iTunes[1418]: ApplePushService: APSConnection being used without a delegate queue

  • Itunes keeps crashing with Windows 8.1 and doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad to syn.  Frustrated!!!

After new Itunes update ... it  keeps crashing with Windows 8.1 and doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad to syn.  Frustrated!!!  I have unninstalled it .. installed it, but nothing happens.  I even loaded an earlier itunes version, it worked without crashing, but it still did not recognize iphone or ipad.

Do you get an error message when you try to launch iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • Itunes keeps crashing with windows 7

iTunes 7 keeps crashing on windows 7. please help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Why does Firefox keep crashing with Mavericks?

I don't want any answers on this, but I would strongly suggest that people should not download Mavericks. I did so today, March 22, and since then Firefox keeps crashing or going into the spinning wheel mode. Once it actually shut down my domputer. Clearly Apple updates are becoming as worthless as windows updates.

I haven't had any issues with Firefox and Mavericks. The only issues I've had have been minor.
I suggest you test in a new User. This will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or if it's your User's folder that contains the problem.
    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching
Do you still see the issue?
If yes, then the problem is with your base files.
If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.
Download EtreCheck. It will display the important details of your system configuration and highlight old files you still might have around that will affect Mavericks. If you need help with the results, you can copy the results to the Clipboard. and paste on the fourm.

Just upgrade to Mavericks, but then my skype keep crashing, every time I click reopen, it goes back to the same "Problem report for Skype" window

  • QuarkXpress keeps crashing with Mavericks installed

Everytime I attempt to use Quark, the app crashes. Thank God I have one older computer left that doesn't have
this latest upgrade. Apple better do something quick, or better yet, Quark needs to do an upgrade!

    Hi betsi,
I am sorry I am not sure what you are saying. My question simply was to find out which version of QuarkXPress you are using, as Mavericks support depends on the version of course.
QuarkXPress 10 works under Mavericks. There's a few minor issues, which will be resolved with 10.0.1 and this version - to be released soon - will also add official support for Mavericks.
QuarkXPress 9 currently has a few major issues under Mavericks. One is that it crashes when you move a box using the mouse. Using the cursor keys works but of course that is not very efficient. We are currently looking into that and hope to be able to support v9 under Mavericks.
For QuarkXPress 8 (and older) it will not be possible to support Mavericks, however they might run with issues. Site licenses will not run, as Mavericks removed OpenTransport.
    Does that clarify it?
    Thanks
    Matthias

  • ITunes keeps crashing with latest update when I try to sync my iPad and iPhone.  No issues syncing my ATV's.  Any suggestions?

In fact, when I am in iTunes and click on either my iPad or IPhone it shows the sync options and ten within 10 or so seconds iTunes gets the "closed unexpectedly" error message.  Very frustrating....updated to latest iTunes version yesterday, and this issue started today.  Thanks in advance for your ideas.

If possible... you need to Upgrade to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x  (which will Run iTunes Version 11)
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...

  • (Mavericks) iTunes keeps crashing on sync "This iPhone is already syncing apps with "%1$S"

I updated my MacBook Air to Mavericks yesterday.  When attempting to sync my iPad2 and iPhone4 this morning, iTunes keeps crashing on me.
There seems to be some issues with what it thinks my computer name or my Apple ID is.  It keeps referring to them as %1$S
Check out this screenshot on the device Summary page of iTunes, It may be hard to make out the text since the image was resized upon uploading it:
The the top circled item reads "This iPhone is already syncing apps with "%1$S"
The second circled item is the incorrectly sized Check for updates button
The thrid circled item (left) are my Apple ID name and computer name, both referred to as %1$S
The fourth circled item (right) is the text "Do you want to allow this computer to access information on "%1$S".
Is anyone else having these issues after upgrading to Mavericks?  Any resolution?

Nevermind, found that there is also an update that Itunes needed this morning to be compatible with Mavericks.  After updating all is fine.
Not sure why iTunes update required for Mavericks was not included in Mavericks, but whatever.  Hope this helps anyone else who had this issue.

I'am getting an error crash occurs when using coreKE plug in.
    any help most welcome.
    focus48

    Hello there, focus48.
First place to start is to isolate the issue. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps to try:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3430
There are several ways in which an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
    - Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer.
    - Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface.
    - Slow performance.
    - iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly.
    - You see an alert while syncing stating "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you notice any of the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any plug-ins not manufactured by Apple by opening iTunes in Safe Mode. This is done by holding down the Option and Command keys (on Mac OS X) or holding down the Shift and Control keys (on Windows) while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see the following dialog before iTunes finishes starting up:
"iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."
If the issue persists, then isolating further by testing in another user account is in order:
Isolating an issue by using another user account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4053
    Symptoms
When isolating issues and/or troubleshooting software issues in OS X, you might want to use a different user account. Learn how to use this technique to narrow down the cause of an issue.
    Resolution
The issue at hand may simply be caused by a bad preference setting or user-specific data file. With proper isolation, you can avoid time-consuming and inappropriate troubleshooting methods.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

my itunes keeps crashing every time i open it with my windows 7. im active military and dont have time to be messing with this. please help

    Hello there, Staver13.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some assistance in troubleshooting your issue:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
    Particularly:
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Itunes keep crashing on sync with ipad

itunes keeps crashing on sync with ipad. Eveyrthing was good up until the 5th of june. any ideas

If you have tried 1, 2 & 3 below, next thing I'd try is call Apple support at this link: http://www.apple.com/support/expert/
Or you can take it to an Apple store to see an expert.
    1) Deinstall and reinstall itunes on the computer.
    2) On the ipad, Press and Hold the Home and Wake Sleep buttons until the Apple Logo appears.
    3) If that doesn't work, try a reset, To reset go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset.

I've chosen both items, neither does anything but close the program.  This problem is new with iTunes 10.5; I did not have it before.

  • Itunes keeps crashing after i updated to 6.0.4

    hi,
i have been having trouble in my imac g5 1.8 ghz.
my itunes keeps crashing and i cant close it, i cant even "force quit" on it.
its really hard to eject my ipod, and sometimes the music plays, but there is no sound.
    is there any known fix?
    thanx

    Hi,
I'm having the exact same problem. What's the deal
here. How about a patch or something from apple.
The whole reason I use a mac is it never crashes on
me. If it's going to crash I might as well go back
to a pc (Ok sorry, nothing can make me go back to a
    pc
Whew! Thank you for that last thought....
Anyway, what I ended up doing was trashing everything iTunes including the iTunes X package & prefs (I used Spotlight to find everything), and then reinstalling a new copy of iTunes. First I backed up my iTunes music folder containing the music and data base (your file>Music>iTunes). Then I put my iTunes music folder back where it was and I didn't lose a thing.
However, don't trash everything that shows up in a Spotlight search of iTunes--only the package and all prefs associated with iTunes and, of course, back up your music folder first or you will lose all your iTunes music, books, videos, etc.
Since no one seems to be able to figure out why only a few of us are having this crashing problem with iTunes, it's just not being addressed. They tell us to "post" our crash logs, but not how. You can't upload files to this forum, and the crash log is too voluminous to cut and paste here.
My idea worked for me, but it's dangerous. If you're not sure what to trash, email me for a list. Spotlight will show you where each item is when you click on the little "i" in the circle when you tell Spotlight to "Show All."
Oh, and Apple does not do patches.
