Itunes keeps crashing with Windows 8.1 and doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad to syn.  Frustrated!!!

After new Itunes update ... it  keeps crashing with Windows 8.1 and doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad to syn.  Frustrated!!!  I have unninstalled it .. installed it, but nothing happens.  I even loaded an earlier itunes version, it worked without crashing, but it still did not recognize iphone or ipad.

Do you get an error message when you try to launch iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

My iTunes keeps crashing.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled, including recreating the entire database, and it is still doing it.  I recently upgraded to 10.5.  Any ideas?  I am running Windows 7 on a new, decent, laptop.  The music is on the laptop's hard drive.  There is plenty of hard drive space left.
iTunes starts fine, and I can do stuff, then within a minute or two or three it gives me an error message pop-up.

    The error message says:

I've chosen both items, neither does anything but close the program.  This problem is new with iTunes 10.5; I did not have it before.

  • I just installed update version 11.1.4.62.  Now Itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad.  My wife just installed the same version with the same result.  The problem is clearly a problem with itunes.  What's wrong with itunes?

I was running the previous version of itunes and it worked perfectly.  I just installed the latest version of itunes (version 11.1.4.62) and restarted the PC and now itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or my ipad.  I'm running Windows 8.1 on my pc.  I tried diagnostics to no avail.  The diagnostic didn't recognize either device.  As the directions advised, I closed itunes, disconnected the devices and stopped and restarted the apple  mobile device service,  That didn't work either.  My wife, who also has Windows 8.1, has the same problem.  She installed the new version and it doesn't recognize her devices.
Until now, itunes has been totally reliable.  I am convinced the problem is with itunes.  Where do I go from here?

I resolved the issue by doing the following:
    1. Uninstall iTunes and every Apple application (device support and such).
    2. Uninstall bonjour.
    3. Reboot.
    4. Go to Apple and install iTunes.
It worked.  When I opened iTunes (after reinstalling) it recognized all my devices, music and video.

  • Itunes 11.1 on Mac 10.8.4 doesn't recognize my iphone 5 with iOS7

Since upgrade of iPhone 5 to iOS7, my iTunes doesn't recognize the iPhone 5 OR the iPad Mini on iOS7. I upgraded iTunes and it still doesn't recognize either device. Mac version is 10.8.4

Well, I figured it out myself. I read the comments/notices that the USB 2.0 has to be in working condition to use it, and I switched cables around, but ended up with them in the same place. I know they work; I've used them before. I have a charging case that uses a micro USB cable to charge, which USED TO be able to connect my iPhone 5 to the Mac. Since the iOS 7 upgrade, the Mac doesn't see it. I de-cased the phone, used the lightning cable and the Mac saw the device.

  • ITunes keeps crashing in Windows 8.1

    Hi Guys,
I'm currently having major problems with my 1st Generation iPod Touch.
The problem I'm having is that I've done a restore on my iPod and it's put everything back on but to finalise the restore and verify it, iTunes recgonises my iPod Touch like normal and then it loads the iTunes store and then it crashes and says "iTunes has stopped working" and "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I am running Windows 8.1.
I have managed to keep my iPod connected and quickly run a diagnostics report before it crashes and I have that available if needed. I have tried various solutions I have found across the net and topics found on here to but to no avail. I'm just worried that I basically have an iPod that can't do anything or there is something wrong with iTunes. I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes several times but to no success either. I can't use the iPod at all and just displays the connect iPod to computer and iTunes images on the iPod whenever I connect it.
Please help as I really want to remedy this as soon as possible as I use my iPod everyday and I can't imagine life without it and this has reduced me to tears trying to fix it.

I've already tried those solutions but (knock on wood) I've installed an older version of iTunes, updated that to the latest and that has seem to still recgonise my iPod and allowed it to sync and restore from my backup and now it seems to be working fine for now any problems I shall let you know.

  • ITunes Keeps Crashing with Mavericks

Ever since updating my iMac from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, I'm finding iTunes crashes after several hours of running.
I often leave iTunes running over night and then sync my podcasts up before heading to work. This has never been a problem, going back to my 3GS. It began immediately after going from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, and it happens nightly. I've got 11.1.5 update.
I don't have to keep it running all night, but it's been my routine, without fail for several years now. The only thing that changed was going to Mavericks.

I got up this morning and it had crashed again.
I filtered for iTunes and there were only three lines:

  • Itunes crashes when iPod is connected and doesn't recognize it (iPod touch)

Help! Whenever I plug my iPod in my iTunes freezes! Both my iPod and iTunes work perfectly fine it's just when my iPods connected. It also doesn't recognize it but it appears on my computer. It was fine before and this problem only occurred very recently. I have the newest iTunes. Any ideas on what I could do? Thanks for your help

My problem still isnt solved however I have got further. This has taken me many hours but by searching for ages, i tried the msconfig idea on itunes. After following the instructions, i found that it stopped my itunes from crashing. I then found the root of the problem - it was the Apple Mobile Device which was interfering and crashing my itunes. So i deleted it and yes my itunes was not crashing however I need it to sync my ipod..hmm.. so if I reinstall it, it crashes my itunes and if I dont, I still cannot sync my ipod.
Im not too sure what to do now however I feel a sense of achievement for getting somewhere.. Thanks for your help again X

  • After a recent itunes version update, itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad?

after a recent itunes software update, itunes does not recognize my iphone 5 or ipad

    Hey there Laughlkw,
It sounds lik eyou iPhone and iPad are not showing in the iTunes sidebar after a recent update. A number of issues could cause this type of behaviour, and would recommend starting with the troubleshooting from the article named:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
If the issue is not resolved, I would next re install iTunes with the following article:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • ITunes keeps crashing with latest update when I try to sync my iPad and iPhone.  No issues syncing my ATV's.  Any suggestions?

In fact, when I am in iTunes and click on either my iPad or IPhone it shows the sync options and ten within 10 or so seconds iTunes gets the "closed unexpectedly" error message.  Very frustrating....updated to latest iTunes version yesterday, and this issue started today.  Thanks in advance for your ideas.

If possible... you need to Upgrade to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x  (which will Run iTunes Version 11)
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...

If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

I have the nVidia nForce controller mentioned in the knowledge base article in my new laptop...and of course I'm having that issue. HP wasn't able to resolve the issue, but they did say that they had reports of that issue on an Intel based SATA controllers also. I haven't tried external hard drives yet, but CD's, USB keys, etc. (basically anything that isn't an SATA hardrive) all seem to work fine so you may just want to find an external something large enough for your video files and put them there till someone figures out what's happening. It's somewhat annoying as it means one more thing to carry around if your portable like I am, but the iTunes library doesn't care where the file is so long as it knows where to look for it and it could be worse. As an example, I haven't taken my own advise and I'm using a 1GB USB key for 1hr TV show episodes that average 503MB...you do the math on that one.
