ITunes keeps disabling me

I bought a new computer (iMac) and now iTunes keeps disabling my computer. I authorise it and Apple deauthorizes it. Why?

Check in you iTunes account how many computers have already been authorized. If it is 5, then you will need to deauthorize at least one, or all.

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

What can I do, iPad disabled/lockout and iTunes keeps asking for password, I cannot restore...iTunes grays out backup and restore but my iPad and iPod shows on Apple etc..???

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    2. Connect USB cable to computer, leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • ITuns keeps opening itself

    Hi guys!
my problem is just as the subject says!
    Itunes keeps opening itself
I tried everything but can't get around this. NOTE: didn't have ituneshelpper to open at login in the first place.
First i tried deleting itunes preference files - didn't work
Tried removing every app i could think of that could be interfering with iTunes - didn't work
Tried to trash ituneshelpper app from itunes package contents - nothing changed
At this time i think i had itunes 10.7 installed for a while i.e. i think it wasn't since upgrading that this problem began
then i tried uninstalling iTunes and do a fresh install - kept opening itself at login and periodically if i closed it
tired removing itunes preference files again to no success
tried to remove itunes helper at this time because it appeared at login items - no luck! even tough i removed it from login items several times it kept appearing there and even at exhaust (a login items app) all this after trashed the itunesHelper from itunes package contents again!!
At this time decided to re-install Lion again form HD recovery drive!
After this iTunes stopped opening at login only to find that i had to install the latest version (10.7) because the library was created by a newer version and as such it wouldn't open!!
after updating iTunes it started all over again!!!
And now for a little side problem - might mouse center and side buttons stopped working as well as secondary button!!! can't get around that also!!!
    Help, please!!!
    i'm running lion 10.7.5
Sorry fort the long post and thanks!!!

    Hi,
I bought a new core i5 macbook pro a couple of days ago and started getting this problem about 2 hours ago and didn't know what was happening. Everything was disabled, including taking the battery from the remote out, yet itunes was still starting up.
I just found something but not sure if it's the cause of the problem. My audio cable was not connected properly and when i moved it, itunes would start up again, and kept moving it and kept starting up, and while open, i would move it again and it would play songs. I disconnected it and plugged it back in, tried moving it and it would not start itunes. I think this has to do with the port supporting the apple earphones with remote on them. Lets hope this fixes it and if so, hope it helps others.

  • ITunes keeps starting automatically

iTunes keeps starting automatically on my Macbook Air. When I quit iTunes it just restarts again within about 2 minutes. I have checked my Dashboard widgets and there is nothing there related to iTunes. It's unclear what has triggered this and it's VERY annoying.
How can I stop it doing this?

Was having the same problem but seemed to have solved it. Did the following:
    1. Went into CDs and DVDs prefs and set when you insert a music CD and picture CD to ignore
    2. Went into iTunes -> prefs -> Devices and unchecked "Look for remote speakers connected with Airtunes" and "Look for iPhone and iPod touch Remotes"
    3. Installed Lingon (http://lingon.sourceforge.net/) and checked all my startup processes and Daemons. Found some old things like MySQL trying to launch (even though web sharing is off) and an old Maxtor one touch driver and disabled the processes or removed them.
    4. Checked the console log to be sure nothing else was running or creating an error that I didn't need anymore.
I apologize that I can't say what solved it, but aside from the prefs in the apps, it may have been an old piece of software (like my old Maxtor drive) that was still trying to run that may have been triggering itunes.
    Good luck to all.

The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5. The 2G can only go to iOS 4.2.1
Try disabling the computer's security software during the download and update.

  • ITunes account disabled, repeatedly by Apple

every week i have to reset my iTunes account...any ideas?
i won't keep a credit card on file for security reasons, could this be the culprit?

Here is what fixed it for us:
After troubleshooting the issue we determined that my wife's MobileMe account was being disabled every time she tried to buy something from iTunes, or update her apps on her iPhone. So her account may have been legitimately disabled the first time by hacking attempt or someone using the wrong ID, but every time after that was because we didn't know to do the following in iTunes. First, re-enable the account and set a new password (this is the most frustrating part, because over the last month we have churned through a LOT of passwords). Then from iTunes go to Store\Sign Out. If you have an iPhone go to Settings\Store\Sign Out. Now sign back into both places with your new password. After doing this her account no longer locks when she tries to buy something from iTunes or update her apps on her phone. For some reason the "10 attempts before disable" rule does not apply with iTunes even though it is the same account as MobileMe. iTunes would disable the account immediately upon trying to make a purchase. It would be nice if iTunes gave you a chance to type the new password when it found a mismatch rather than disable the account immediately.
For the record; many e-mails, IMs, and a call to Apple support were completely useless, every time the account was disabled we were told that was because someone tried an incorrect password 10 times. Thanks to everyone who posts their findings out here, we wouldn't have figured this out without your help. I hope what worked for us will work for you.

  • ITunes keeps crashing (coregraphics.dll)

    Hi all!
My iTunes keeps crashing, especially when browsing the iTunes Shop and initiating a download of iPhone apps. The crash report mentions:
    AppName:itunes.exe AppVer:9.0.2.25 ModName: coregraphics.dll ModVer:1.0.60.0 OffsetL000a504e.
Any ideas/suggestions on what I can do to fix this?
I have downloaded and installed iTunes 9 and the latest Quicktime revision (7.6.5).
I am using a Dell Latitude D620 with an NVidia Quadro NVS 110M, with all the latest drivers as made available by Dell.

Thank you, sol! That's ideal information you've supplied.
    AppName:itunes.exe AppVer:9.0.2.25 ModName: coregraphics.dll ModVer:1.0.60.0 OffsetL000a504e.
Okay, you're having a program with an Apple Application Support program file here. (iTunes 9.0.25 requires a properly functioning Apple Application Support in order to work correctly.)
So, to begin with, we'll try uninstalling both iTunes and Apple Application Support, and then reinstalling iTunes (which should also reinstall Apple Application Support). We'll take a few other precautions along the way too.
    Preliminaries
Download and save a fresh copy of iTunesSetup.exe (the iTunes installer file) from the Apple website. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now quit both QuickTime and Safari 4.0.4 if you have them open. (Both use Apple Application Support and will interfere with the uninstall if you have them open.)
    *Uninstall phase*
Head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel. Uninstall iTunes. Uninstall Apple Application Support.
(From this point until Apple Application Support is reinstalled, QuickTime and Safari 4.0.4 will no longer launch.)
Next we'll clear away any leftover iTunes and/or Apple Application Support program files and folders.
    Go "Start > My Computer".
Open "Local Disk (C:)" or whichever drive your program files are installed on.
    Open the "Program Files" folder.
Right-click on the iTunes folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
    Open the "Common Files" folder.
    Open the "Apple" folder.
Right-click on the "Apple Application Support" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Empty your recycle bin and restart the PC.
    *Reinstall Phase*
After the PC restarts, do not open any other applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now disable all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware.) Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to the internet and/or your network.
Does the install go through okay? if so, does your iTunes behave itself a bit better when downloading iPhone apps?

  • Itunes keeps crashing after opening in OSX Maverick

Running OSX Maverick iTunes keeps crashing as soon as I launch it,
I'am getting an error crash occurs when using coreKE plug in.
    any help most welcome.
    focus48

    Hello there, focus48.
First place to start is to isolate the issue. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps to try:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3430
There are several ways in which an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
    - Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer.
    - Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface.
    - Slow performance.
    - iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly.
    - You see an alert while syncing stating "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you notice any of the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any plug-ins not manufactured by Apple by opening iTunes in Safe Mode. This is done by holding down the Option and Command keys (on Mac OS X) or holding down the Shift and Control keys (on Windows) while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see the following dialog before iTunes finishes starting up:
"iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."
If the issue persists, then isolating further by testing in another user account is in order:
Isolating an issue by using another user account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4053
    Symptoms
When isolating issues and/or troubleshooting software issues in OS X, you might want to use a different user account. Learn how to use this technique to narrow down the cause of an issue.
    Resolution
The issue at hand may simply be caused by a bad preference setting or user-specific data file. With proper isolation, you can avoid time-consuming and inappropriate troubleshooting methods.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • IPod Touch Keeps Disabling

    Hi all,
Ironically, this isn't about my iPod touch (I'm still rockin' a 5th Gen iPod Video) but at where I work, we have an iPod Touch model (3rd gen) demoed. However, it constantly keeps disabling after maybe a day or two. I set it up, and a few days later when I go back, it disables, requiring a connection to iTunes. (It has ben synced up with iTunes once before, so content is on it and it is assigned a Mac)
Now, this hasn't been a problem just now, for several years whenever we've tried to put an iPod Touch model out, the same thing happens after a little bit of time.
My question to you all is, what is causing the iPod to disable in the first place? I didn't put a passcode on it, and I heard it may be from too many improper logins. If this is the case, maybe someone else gave it a passcode. Is there some way I can password protect changing the password, but allow a no-passcode login?
Or again, am I way off and is something else disabling the iPod touch? Thanks!

Every few days?? Sounds like it simply needs to be recharged. Check the little battery symbol at the top right of the screen.
You can either plug it into the computer to recharge or get a wall charger.

  • I need to update my iPhone 4 but iTunes keeps timing out on me.

So I've been trying to update my iPhone 4 for a while now and everytime iTunes keeps stopping and says there's a connection error or something like that, anyone can help? I'd really appreciate it.

"a connection error or something like that" is not really helpful in diagnosing the problem.
If you are using a Windows PC, the update often times out. If that is the problem, you could try again after disabling your firewall and antivirus programs.
