ITunes Keeps Freezing, Music Folders Keep Being Marked Read-Only??? HELP!!

Recently I have been completely unable to access my iTunes for more than 15 seconds before it freezes up and I have to end the program. When I checked the properties for my My Music folder and my iTunes Music folder (and all the folders within these folders), I noticed that the Read-Only box is marked - not checked, but filled with another, smaller box.
When I uncheck the read-only box on all the folders and go back up to the My Music folder, I check the properties and notice that it is STILL marked as Read-Only. This is driving me completely insane, as I can do NOTHING with my iTunes without it freezing. Can someone please help me out???

It's normal for folders to be marked read only, what ever your problem is, it is not this.

Iphone 4s keeps freezing and apps keep crashing

so it basically says it all up in the title, but my phone keeps freezing and whenever i open apps they freeze and then crash!
i dont know if i should get a new phone like get it replaced or if i shoud reset it, or just try and get it fixed, someone help!!

My Applications keep Freezing - Brand New Mid-2010 iMac. Please Help

Hello - I am extremely frustrated because I just received my brand new iMac in the mail (27" i7 2.93GHZ / 2 TB HD / 4GB 2x2 SDRAM) and my applications keep freezing.
Let me give an example -
I keep trying to open iPhoto so that I can import and export photos from my other Mac and my iPhone. Just about any time I do any big upload, the whole iPhoto freezes on me and I have to force quit.
Another example (the one that is bugging me most right now): I am trying to paste 3 pages of text into a word document in Microsoft Word, and every time I attempt to do this, Word freezes.
I understand these are both rather minor in the grand scheme of things, but I just got this fricken thing and I'm hoping I can take some measure to avoid my applications freezing... Do I not have enough memory for running these simple day-to-day tasks? I was thinking about buying 2x 4GB OWC memory to make my computer 12GB instead of 4GB. Please help - I'd love to hear any opinions. Should I take it in? Or is it a simple fix? Even when I first booted my computer there was lag getting the introduction information to load.

I was hopeful that this would have solved the problem. Unfortunately, it must be a software problem of some sort. I reset my PRAM(?) and did the disk utility cleanup or whatever it is called. I do appreciate you giving your 2 cents. Does anybody else have any ideas? Microsoft Office is still freezing up when I try to paste something from the internet -- Oddly enough, it isn't happening when I'm posting text from some websites, but is from others. The firewall is turned off, so I don't think its a security issue. Please help! I need some way to put my academic transcript in a word file so that I can email it for reference, so this is kind of urgent! Thank you.

My iPhone 4s keeps freezing whenever I try to connect to wifi. It either won't even open wifi, and when it does, it'll freeze as soon as wifi is open. I can force quit the settings area, and it unfreezes the iPhone, but it doesn't fix the settings area, which is still frozen. I have come to points when I can connect to wifi, but it only lasts about 30 seconds before dropping the connection. This happens everywhere, even at home, when I'm right next to the router. What should I do?

Try resetting your settings. Settings > General > Reset.
I had this happen shortly after updating and it worked when I reset.
Doesn't delete anything though.

If you still have warranty, yes you should be able to replace it. My ipad mini speakers had a rattle to it, and they just gave me a new ipad on the spot.

All new files and folders show up as READ ONLY

I am new to the iMac, and am having problems with files an folders. My account is an administrator's account, but when ever I create a new folder, or move a file into it, it shows up as READ ONLY. This is really annoying as I am moving hundreds of files from my PC to the iMac. How do I set things up so that new folders and files are not READ ONLY? Thanks!

Folders automatically switch to read only

Some folders on my mac automatically cahnge their permissions from read & write to read only, which means whenever I want to edit a document I have to enter my password and reset the folder permissions.
It just happens randomly, I am an Admin on the computer and the only user.
I have also repaired the disk permissions to see if that will fix it but it still happens.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this,boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: 'resetpassword' (without the 's) and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

How to Mark Read Only Checkboxes based on RadioButton Selections

I've spent the past hour looking through old discussions and can't find anything about this, so maybe it will help some others in the future as well.
I'm building a Dynamic PDF for people at work to use for troubleshooting. It basically follows the same logic as the flowcharts I've already made, but by asking questions and telling the technicians what to do based on their answers. At the top I have checkboxes that are kind of "top level questions" that I want to be read only and I want them to check off automatically as they make their way through the radio buttons.
My end goal is to incorporate this PDF into our ticketing system and the checkboxes at the top level will show the troubleshooting that has already been completed without the technician having to read through the entire PDF to find out what to do next. If we have to send a technician to the site to repair anything it will also act as an escalation report, so he knows where we were able to get without him being on site.
I was thinking this might work, but apparently I don't understand the coding as well as I thought I did. Hopefully I'm close lol.

ITUNES KEEPS FREEZING, MULTIPLE AVENUES EXPLORED... NO HELP

I recently bought a new 8gig 5th gen ipod nano to replace my classic 80gig video. I am running the latest version of snow leopard on my macbook. After plugging in the USB and attempting to update the software on the nano, i-tunes freezes and the rainbow circle keeps rotating. I then have to force-quit itunes and submit a worthless report. Ive since then reset the ipod completely and even gone as far as formatting it MACOSX Journaled with disk-repair. Restore doesn't work, update doesn't work, im currently running the latest version of itunes and even uninstalled and reinstalled the entire program. Still nothing. Any ideas?

So you have reformatted the disk with disk utility. Have you run a repair on disk permissions, disk repair, and restarted?

How do I keep email from being marked read in Outlook before I read them on my computer?

When email downloads to my phone, it automatically shows up as read in Outlook whether I've opened the mail on my phone or not. Verizon says it's an issue with the host mail server and the host mail server says its a setting on the iPhone. Help!

If the account is a Verizon account, unless Verizon supports Exchange or IMAP account access, this has nothing to do with the iPhone, and there is no setting for this with the iPhone's Mail app or with any email client that I'm aware of.

Computer keeps freezing w/adobe flash player 10...help!!!

ok, so i've literally done EVERYTHING that this site, and the microsoft windows site, have recommended. yesterday "eidnolb" had one final suggestion; un-check the accelerator box on the flash player logo. i did that and figured that if that didn't do the trick, i'd know about in about a week, or so. that's how long all of the suggestions lasted before i have to un-install and re-install flash player 10. well...last night i was listening to christmas music and after a couple of hours (only this time??) my computer again crashed and my only choice was to (again) cold boot it, which isn't really good for it. i have not yet done the uninstall/reinstall. i'm hoping someone, somewhere, has more suggestions to try!
i read (somewhere) someone asking if they could uninstall version 10 and then re-install version 9. however, at this point, i have no idea where i saw that, or if it worked?? if that worked, or will work, what do i do if i then get a message that there is a newer version of flash player? can i ignore it?
i'm using IE 8 and, as stated, (trying to use) adobe flash player 10. i also have netflix that i use quite often. actually i think that's what started this mess to begin with?
please, i've read all the suggestions on here about a lot of people having the same problem and as far as i can tell there seems to be nothing i can do about it, seeing as i really do need the flash player on my computer.

all of you, the better the help maybe.
this entire mess (everything i've now listed) really started with the IE 9 Beta, which is what made un-install it after about a week (i think), and then install IE 8. i had never used IE 8 though. i went from IE 7, to IE 9 Beta, to IE 8, which is what i have now. i did all the un-installing and re-installing of the different versions correctly. i've checked all of that, but is there a chance that the 9 Beta just "glitched out" my laptop and it isn't going to get fixed until they have the usable IE 9?? the IE 9 Beta REALLY messed with my mail page the most. i attempted to contact yahoo about a fix, to no avail! LOL (we all know this!)
also...why am i NOT the only one that the freezing happens to? there are others on this forum that have that problem. i don't know if they're having the other problems that i am, but as far as my laptop freezing up on me... i know i'm not alone? with xmas coming up so soon, i haven't watched anything on netflix in a couple of weeks. my news videos seem to play correctly; and now youtube works. i just have no idea what's going on that is causing this to freeze up at other times, or the other, smaller glitches?
there's not a doubt in my mind that this has something to do with the current version of adobe, and IE 8...i just don't know what it is...and my frustation level is at about 19!! LOL there are days that i just shut the whole thing down/off 'cause i'm just tired of dealing with it!! that has made it terribly hard to get my xmas chopping done. i do it all on-line. between my problems and problems with vendors sites, my bank a/c has (3 times!) gotten charged multiple times for a single order. then "we" start calling people! the bank, the vendors, the bank again......

Hosted files, especially .jpgs keep being set read only.

Is there a way to make my public folder and everything in it keep read-write privileges at all times?
Basically I have two reports who access the folder using afp and when they send in pictures the pics say, "Items can’t be copied to “Desktop” because you don’t have permission to read them."
I don't remember having this problem with Snow Leopard Server, but it wasn't until last week that I really need to start transfering more pictures!
And (theoretically) I'm signed in as the Administrator on the computer.
So, any ideas? I've set all of the accounts as having full-Admin privaliges. And I've set the folder to be public.

I'm afraid this is dead wrong. What matters most is how you set permissions on the share, not if you've chosen to inherit vs. using POSIX. POSIX is still used in inherit functions, though you can use ACL's to override them. In this case, ACL's are not being used on those shares (though we tried it).
After all, why would Apple (let alone anyone else) even offer the ability to change POSIX permissions on a share if it didn't have any effect? That would be somewhat contradictory in nature.
Like I said before, I have several other installations which are identically setup that have no such issues.
As for Windows, it is also not set to inherit permissions; we're setting those explicitly. And they work fine.
Any other ideas?

ITunes changed my music folders

Hi,
I just installed itunes and added my 70GB music to my library/playlist but i forgot to uncheck the "Edit iTunes Music folder" (?) I don't know if it is that in english, because my iTunes is in dutch.
You can find that option at: Edit > Preference (shortcut ctrl+,) > Advanced. I changed my iTunes map to my music folder, but as i told before, forgot to uncheck the "Edit iTunes Music folder". So now all my music is sorted in different folders, what i don't want. Is there an options to undo that? I really hope there is, otherwise i need to organise my 70GB of music again.

Don't waste your vacation! Just listen to the music in iTunes. Don't look at the folder structure. Use the iTunes Browse feature (ctrl-b) and all the various search capabilities to view your music instead of just files.
(hate to see anyone waste a vacation day)
