ITunes keeps messing up my song info

I have recently had a problem, usually occurring only with songs I've actually purchased from iTunes, where specific songs will continue to default back to the info provided by the iTunes store. Whenever I manually edit the info, it will always end up defaulting to the incorrect info.
An example of this is Led Zeppelin's album Houses of the Holy. The songs are always out of order--Over the Hills and Far Away is always listed as track 15 because it was track 15 on the 2007 compilation album Mothership. There's a correlation here--Houses of the Holy is incorrectly said to have been released in 2007, just like Mothership. The issue happens with other Zep songs too, as they'll randomly be from other compilation albums like "The Complete Led Zeppelin" or "Remastered."
I'm super OCD about having my music organized, so if anyone knows of a solution, please let me know. Thank you!

  • Itunes keeps downloading the same songs over and over again on a shared library

    I have a share library on a NAS box, and until now, little problem. But now, iTunes keeps downloading the same songs etc, when I go to another PC, even though the library is shared between the other PC, is the same.
    Plus, iTunes repeatably asks for my Password to log in, even though it is correct.
    Share Library on NAS box, mapped drive paths to drive letters.
    Keeps re-downloading songs and podcasts I all ready have on the NAS box, if I open iTunes on different computer.
    This is new behaviour. Has not happend like this till today.
    Keeps asking for my iTunes ID and Password, over and over again, evertime I run iTunes, or my iPod.
    Thanks in advance.

    Adriana,
    If your .mac account is set to be type .mac (don't laugh, it can be set to be POP, or IMAP), it functions essentially like an IMAP. As a .mac, the Inbox is actually on the server, and when you display the Inbox, you are displaying everything on the server. Any downloading you observe is purely for purposes of display, according to what selections you have made in Mail Preferences. What you report seems perfectly normal, for a .mac account, and for an IMAP account.
    Often an exchange account is also an IMAP account, and thus the behavior would seem normal for that type of account.
    Again the Inbox is on the Server, and not on your Mac. Do not confuse this with selecting to Keep copies for Offline viewing -- those copies are refreshed from the server whenever you sign on.
    Neither a .mac nor IMAP account folder will contain a MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded file . However, your POP folder should have such a file or two, to control duplicate downloads of messages remaining on the server -- POP was originally designed to remove upon download, but now that many people use more than one computer, it is logical to sometimes leave messages on the server to be download onto other computers.
    In the Finder, open Home/Library/Mail and look for a folder named to begin with POP and including the server and/or email address in the name. If there is not a POP folder, then the account has NOT been set up to be something other than POP. If there is a POP folder, it should contain the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded.
    More info, please.

  • Itunes keeps asking to verify pament info,every time I do it 1 dollar is being charged.How to fix?

    Itunes keeps asking to verify pament info,every time I do it 1 dollar is being charged.How to fix?

    I'm having the same issue.  I've been completely locked out of the app store because MLB.com is trying to charge me $3.13.  I recently updated my phone to iOS 7.0.4 and I need to re-download my apps.  It doesn't seem very fair that I cant access the apps that I have paid for and my FREE apps because of one app.  I would understand if MLB at bat wasnt working but I now have ZERO apps on my phone minus the basic ones that come with iOS...Someone help us!!  =O

  • Why does iTunes keep cutting all my songs?

    I'm getting sick of this problem. I've got about 15 gigabytes of music. About 700 songs or so have been purchased from iTunes, the rest are from CDs I've scanned in. With the purchased songs, it feels like every third song was an incomplete download! It'll show as the full length, but when I'm listening to it on my iPod Touch 5th gen or on my laptop, the song cuts off. I tried talking to Apple support about it and I went through a million and one different steps to redownload my music library, but it just made the problem worse. Before it was maybe one in every six songs, now it feels like one in every three. It's extremely frustrating to be listening to a favorite song and it gets cut off a minute or two in.
    It wouldn't be so bad if each song had a redownload button next to it, so I could just click on the problem songs and redo it. But having to go through a million emails and menus and options and settings just to have the problem still be there... I never had this problem when I got my music from Amazon.

    This can be caused by other software conflicting with itunes. Such as, Sony Vaio users are reporting this issue in droves....other causes can be security software like Norton, Uniblue Speed Up My PC, Zune....
    Maybe post some more details, and we can help.
    One quick thing to try is, move your itunes library.itl file out of the msuic folder and put it in a new folder named test.
    Press *and hold* the shift key while starting itunes. Browse to the ITL file in the test folder when prompted.
    Close itunes, reopen, and see if your library is OK - it should keep using the ITL file in the test folder.
    If it is OK, then I'm 100% sure some other software is doing this.
    And you just faked it out by creating the test folder it didn't know about.

  • Transferring songs from one itunes account to another with song info.

    I'm curious to know if this is possible. I download a lot of music at work under my boss's itunes account. I burn a cd and download it to my home computer, under my account. The songs play, but it's missing the info./grace note tag. What are my options, besides manually adding the info to each song? Is it possible to use my itunes account on my work computer? Thanks so much!!

    Michaela A,
    There is no direct way I know of in iTunes for coping your songs to an external device like a harddrive or memory and transfering to another PC. You have to do it in windows explorer. There is an artical on using your iPod to transfer music from a old PC to a new one. You can use these steps if you have an ipod or read them to get a general idea on what you need to do to transfer using your memory stick. If you use the stick you may not need to do some steps or alter others, but here a link to the artical
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
    You may even set up a home network, like a wireless one. then you could transfer tons of things between them or use the share feature in iTUnes, so you could have all the music on one and access the music on the other laptop via the network

  • ITunes freezes when I edit song info

    Whenever I try edit the information for a song iTunes either freezes or takes several minutes for the track info window to pop up.  I've tried updating and re-installing iTunes but to no avail.  How can I fix this?

    I am experiencing the exact same issue as doteddy. Additionally, I am not able to sync an iPod on any account other than the first account that is logged in.
    For example:
    Boot Win 7 64 bit;
    Log into Account "A";
    I can access iTunes Preferences and sync an iPod Touch without any issue;
    Close iTunes in Account "A";
    Switch User and Log into Account "B" (note Account "A" is still logged, but I have switch over to using Account "B";
    I am unable to access Preferences in Account "B" and I am unable to sync an iPod on Account "B";
    Log out of Account "B";
    Log out of Account "A";
    Log back into Account "B";
    Now that I am only logged into Account "B" I can access Preferences and Sync the iPod Touch on Account "B";
    I have spent five hours trying to resolve this issue, unsucessfully. I have tried many solutions suggested by others with similar problems, but to no avail. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and repaired iTunes several times. I have also tried creating new user accounts and using alternate accounts. The problem doesn't seem to be associated with specific user accounts; rather it is associated with being logged into more than one account simultaneously.
    The problem is fully repeatable on my Win 7 64 bit system with iTunes 10.6.1.7 installed.
    Note: the accounts that I am using (i.e. account "A" and account "B") have different security privileges. While I don't think this is material to the issue, I mention this just in case.

  • ITunes keeps trying to sync song that isn't in library and complains.

    I am unable to sync music iTunes 10.0.1.056 with with an iPhone with iOS3.something. It worked before, but now I am unable to sync any music with the iPhone. When I try to sync, I get a message that "" could not be copied to the iPhone because it could not be found. I did have a problem with that particular song, and I finally deleted it both from the iPhone and from the iTunes library. I figured I could re-add it when everything was working better.
    However, iTunes refuses to get better. I don't believe that iTunes should have any knowledge of the song at this point, yet it insists on trying to sync it. The failure of this non-existent song to sync might well be aborting the sync attempt, which is way I can't sing any new music, either.
    Any suggestions? I'm tearing my hair out on this one.

    Could it be hidden in a playlist somewhere, as opposed to the main music library?

  • Why does my iTunes keep saying that my songs are not found?  They have been on there for a very long time but now can't be put on my devices.

    So I bought some new music on my iPhone.  I put it on the computer so I could update my kids' iPods and while doing this I got a box that said it couldn't find some of my music.  Then it took it off of the iPod and Phone.  I also can't use some of the ringtones I bought.  I don't understand.  Now the things it can't find has a little exclamation mark by them.
    I need help, I don't understand!!!!!

    I posted this about two years ago so can't quite remember how I solved it.
    I've got a feeling I had to completely erase my iPhone (losing a load of notes and music playlists !) in order to fix this problem. It was a bit of a hassle if I can remember also.
    Sorry.

  • ITunes won't let me edit song info or art

    iTunes keeps me from editing song info or art on some tracks.
    This happens all of the time, with no ryhme or reason that I can understand as to why it picks the ones it picks...for example:
    I just tried to edit 4 tracks i had imported the mp3s of. I highlighted all of them, and changed the album art. 2 tracks changed, and the other two still had no art. I highlighted the two of them, and changed it again, this time 1 of them changed. I tried playing the stubborn track, and now it has a odd characteristic that wasn't there before i started this...now when I start the file playing, it plays the first 1.5 seconds, then plays them again, then plays the song. iTunes seems to think this is normal, and doesn't skip backwards...it just plays it like it was added on making the song longer. I try to add the art again...no luck...now there are 3 unwanted introductions...try again? now there are 4. Still no art. This completely perplexes me.
    I am using windows xp media center, I have already stopped both WMP and WMC from accessing track info from the internet.
    Anyone have any ideas?
      Windows XP Pro

    Sounds like the ID3 tags are messed up on those songs.
    iTunes imports using v2.2 tags. Convert the tags to v2.3 and try adding the artwork.
    Right-click > convert ID3 tags
    Also, make sure they are not read-only files.

  • ITunes changes my song info

    For some reason, iTunes likes to keep changing the info for my songs, like genre, album, comments, etc. This results in duplicate songs on my iPod, which is quite frustrating. Is there an option I can turn off or some other way to prevent iTunes from changing/filling in song info?

    No one has any ideas?

  • ITunes 12 changes song info

    Hi,
    iTunes 12 is changing my song info after I've played the song. In Edit/Preferences/Store, I have un-ticked all the boxes including 'Share details about your library with Apple'. I tried disconnecting from the internet then played a song but it still changed the info which makes me think the info is stored somewhere locally on my computer.
    Everything has been fine until today when it just suddenly started doing this. Hopefully someone knows how to fix this
    Thanks,
    Mark

    So when playing anything I just get this a the top which doesn't seem quite right looking at the screenshots I've seen with track info and a small album thumbnail on the left?

  • Itunes is messing with me

    my itunes keeps messing up when i run other programs at the same time as listening to music...does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Mine does the same thing
    Whenever i have other things open, when iTunes changes songs, it skips/stops for a good few seconds where i cant do anything. My CPU usage spikes to 100% on the track changes, but I've got over a gig of RAM and a nice sound card, processor, etc (does it on my gaming rig).
    It gets really annoying when you have stops every few minutes, especially if you are typing or gaming.

  • Visualizer with LARGE Song Info

    I'm looking for an iTunes Visualizer that will display song info LARGE and keep displayed at all times. I would like to be able to look at the display from across the room and be able to see what song is currently playing.
    Any suggestions?
    THANKS!!

    Thanks. I do like that you can control the size of the text. Wish there was one though that was interesting animated wise and did not rely on album artwork.

  • Display song info/art

    What add-in/plug-in programs are there for itunes that displays album art/song info for each song when they change in itunes, especially when itunes (or other player) is minimized? I used to have one, but my hard drive crashed, and I forgot what it was called.
    TIA,
    Blair

    There are several, but I happen to like the Yahoo Widget Engine:
    http://widgets.yahoo.com/
    Install it, then go to the gallery:

  • Itunes is messing up ID3 tags and song info.

    I am wondering, why is itunes keeps on changing ID3 tags.
    For example. All my "The Thunderlords" songs have been changed to"thunderlords,the" Which I do not like. AC/DC got changed to DC/ac and the art was gone. Random comment such as "0" have been added to nearly every song. The album "The Wall" has been labled as "Wall, The" I do not like this >_> is THE wall not wall the. What the .... is wall the? It's not like I go around says "what heck the?" or "halo above his head the" I'm not Yoda! I'd just like to know how to stop itunes from editing this without my permission.
    All songs are MP3's. Details:
    96 kpbs (mono)/ 192 kpbs (Stereo), Normal Stereo, optimized for MMX/SSE, using MP

    Welcome to the world of Gracenotes. This is the database that Itunes reads to name your files. Apple pays a royalty to these clowns and this is what you get; misspellings and just plain wrong info.
    I constantly sort and edit my 1300 CD collection so I would suggest you learn to do the same within iTunes. If the author names are reversed, fix one then copy. Itunes will let you select and change multiple fields once you learn to do multiple selection..not hard but tedious at times.
    Apple needs to threaten to let us use the free CDDB for an alternate look up and a swap button on authors names, and so forth..
