Itunes keeps pausing music on it's own

So my iMac has been doing this more and more often. It pauses my music on itunes on its own and I have to come back over to my computer and start the music again by hitting the play button. My iMac will also start playing music on its own sometimes, as long as itunes is up but not playing.
I swear its like I have a ghost that doesn't like my taste in music. What could be happening? It it something i could fix or applecare could?

i get the same thing as well. i thought it was a ghost too! lol. it's completely random but does happen often, and sometimes its with particular songs. i don't have a solution, i'm not sure if there even is one, it's such a bizarre problem. :-S

  • My itunes keeps pausing randomly + general MBP slowdown

Since a couple of days ago my MBP Intel (2010) has been playing around. iTunes keeps pausing songs then resuming them after a couple of seconds. Also, everything (Chrome, etc) seems to be slower. I can't exactly remember when it started, it seemed to be after I updated something (though i can't remember what). I've already verified/repaired permissions on disc manager. Any ideas?

I've been having the same problem for a few weeks now on my Intel iMac (late 2006 edition). In fact, my whole system is running ridiculously slow and keeps getting hung up (both in iTunes and pretty much every other function). I've upgraded to 2GB of RAM and I've run a disk utility repair, which has made some things run faster (finder and a few low profile programs like iCal), but my internet is still crazy slow (though fast on my iphone and my MacBook Pro), and all of my really useful programs (photo software, screenwriting software, internet on every platform I have, and iTunes) is still glacially slow.
And of course, the cursed iTunes pausing. It's so ridiculous I can't even sync my iPod. It just stalls and gives the wheel of death. I can't listen to newly dowloaded music through my computer and I can't put it on my iPod.
    Ridiculous.

  • ITunes keeps pausing without intervention

Ever since i got my iMac i've noticed something annoying. I'll be rocking out and suddenly iTunes just pauses out of the blue without my intervention, this happens at least 4/5 times a week usually more.
I've repaired permissions, verified disk (which found errors on several occasion but none since) and it still happens. I don't know what to do. I know its not a hardware issue (then again the hard drive errors may beg to differ) and my OS install has been very stable since install with iTUnes being the only trouble maker.
    Dunno what to do....any ideas

  • Video playback from iTunes keeps pausing

Just bought an ipad air and synced it with my itunes. However video playback keeps pausing and I have to either restart the video app or rewind a minute or so to get it to keep playing. Even then it doesnt always work.
Any ideas what the problem may be?

I have the same problem. I have a g4 466 with a gigabite of ram. I installed the latest iTunes/quicktime updates. I downloaded a tv show, and it was nearly unwatchable, it dropped so many frames. What gives?

  • Why does iTunes keep deleting music from off my iPhone

Ok so my music from iphone keeps deleting itself. I keep having to restore this dumb phone only to lose my information days and sometimes hours later. This is the final straw for me. I've restored this phone 20 times in a week! Im tired of dealing with all of these technical issues so when my contract is up I'm done with this thing. Is there ANYTHING I can do in the meantime to keep from losing my music.

I'll continue the discussion. I find the item in question. There was an app that I had deleted from my iTunes but was still on my iPhone dspite numerous syncs. I deleted the separately from my iPhone and no longer received the warning message described above.
Now however, when I delate an app in iTunes not only does the app stay on the iPhone but I do not even get the warning message.
My next step is to perform a restore. Perhaps this will clear up both this problem and a series of other issues like the wi-fi on/off randomly greying out on the iPhone and having all of my music on the iPhone disappearing after a sync.

  • HT1451 iTunes keeps losing music and playlists

I am running the latest version of itunes on my XP machine, and upon opening it, my library was missing 2/3 of my music and all of my playlists were gone. I reimported all my music from the File/Libary/Import Directories function inside iTunes.  I then used a product called TouchCopy to copy all my Playlists from my iPod back to iTunes.  I opended and closed it several times to see that it remained unchamged.  I opened iTunes again a couple hours later and it was back to the way it was, missing 2/3 of my music and all of my Playlists.  I fixed it twice and it keeps happening after a certain unknown amount of time.  I also unimstalled and reinstalled iTunes in between, and it still happened again. Any ideas what is wrong?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
AVG AntiVirus is one possible suspect in this matter. If you have AVG you should download the latest patch. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process. I'd be interested to know which AV package you use to see if others may also occasionally interfere with the library files.

  • My U-Verse RG keeps pausing and resetting on its own...

I've only had U-Verse for about 3 weeks now, and since it was installed the RG regularly pauses or freezes during live TV, on demand programs, and DVR recordings. Sometimes it will unfreeze quickly (less than 30 seconds), which isn't a huge deal but is annoying. Many times, however, it will reset entirely. Again, this wouldn't be a huge deal (though very inconvenient) if it reset quickly. But there are times when the cable will stay out for 30 minutes at a time. I can do a power cycle and get it back up and running if it won't reset on its own, but this isn't something I anticipated having to do a few times a week. What's really weird is that sometimes the main TV (the one in our living room that is directly connected to the RG) will be frozen while the bedroom TV (connected through wifi) works perfectly fine. The internet is also working perfectly when these issues happen. Does anyone have any idea why this keeps happening? I've seen a LOT of posts about U-Verse doing this, and I certainly wouldn't have signed a year long contract if I'd known this was a recurring issue for U-Verse users. My fiance's parents have U-Verse and we've never seen this sort of thing happen on their TV. :-/ Any help would be appreciated!

How do I do that? Is it different than doing a standard power cycle?
Pull the plug on the DVR and STBs.
Pull the power plug on the RG and wait 10-15 secs.
Plug the RG back in and wait for all lights to come back on.
Plug in the DVR next.  Wait for it to become active and then plug in any STBs, one at a time.
Rebooting will fix many, but not all, issues.

  • Itunes keeps pausing

During playback of music, podcasts or videos, iTunes will frequently pause for 5-10 seconds before resuming play. This began happening two days ago and is incredibly annoying.
It's not the same as if I hit pause (the play/pause icon does not change), so it's not like a headphone jack problem (which I had on my last macbook). There is no activity in the scrubbing window while it pauses (the time does not advance), and when play resumes it's from exactly where it left off. Itunes, and the system generally, is still responsive during these pauses, and there's no obvious spike in activity in Activity Monitor. I'm running the latest versions of Mountain Lion and iTunes, and I've tried repairing disk permissions and trashing the preferences. I'm on a macbook pro with 8GB of RAM, and no other app is having any difficulty accessing the external drive my music is on; playing 1080p video off it in Quicktime works just fine. I have no idea what prompted this to suddenly start happening but if anyone has any idea how to fix it it would be very much appreciated.

This is happening for me with latest iTunes and Mavericks. It affects both audio and video. The problem has been on going for the last year at least. Anyone have any suggestions how fix this ?

  • ITunes Keeps Freezing, Music Folders Keep Being Marked Read-Only???  HELP!!

Recently I have been completely unable to access my iTunes for more than 15 seconds before it freezes up and I have to end the program. When I checked the properties for my My Music folder and my iTunes Music folder (and all the folders within these folders), I noticed that the Read-Only box is marked - not checked, but filled with another, smaller box.
When I uncheck the read-only box on all the folders and go back up to the My Music folder, I check the properties and notice that it is STILL marked as Read-Only. This is driving me completely insane, as I can do NOTHING with my iTunes without it freezing. Can someone please help me out???

It's normal for folders to be marked read only, what ever your problem is, it is not this.

  • ITunes keeps playing music videos in fullscreen mode.

Hi, I'm having this issue with itunes 10.4
Everytime a music video plays on itunes it goes fullscreen!
Even if i'm using safari for instance, my space it's changed to the fullscreened video and it doesnt even show up, its just a black screen with the music in the background
And after the music video finishes, the next song starts in the Visualizer mode,
it won't go back to the normal window it's annoying
    How can i change this?
I tried to find an option in preferences but couldnt find it

Try to set your preferred video size in the iTunes View menu > Video Playback > [Options].
This used to be in preferences. but now is in the View menju.

  • ITunes Keeps Resyncing Music

I have been having trouble with iTunes ever since I got my 16GB iPod Touch for Christmas. Upon plugging in my iPod, iTunes will resync the same group of songs that were already there. iTunes will remove them from my iPod and put them back on . This is very frustrating as it takes a fair amount of time to transfer 250 songs over USB 2.0 and really makes me hate iTunes because sometimes I need to toss a TV show on and go but I can't because it syncs TV shows and Movies after music. My library is too large for my iPod Touch and I will probably be upgrading to the 32GB (thank you Costco 90-day return policy) so I have to use a smart playlist to choose what music goes on. The playlist is set to Live Update so I think that this could be the problem. Anyone know how to guide me?
    Thank You

It is just a chopped down version of my library without genres like: Jazz, Classical, Orchestra, R&B, Comedy, Blues, Children's Music (When did that get into my library???), and Easy Listening. My library minus the stuff I don't like. I also tried turning off Live Update and that did not fix the problem
I actually really want a Lenovo IdeaPad Y710, my bro has a Lenovo T61 for college and the build and design quality is astounding, every piece fits just perfectly and the thing is just solid as a rock. It also runs Vista like a beast.

  • Itunes keeps pausing mid song

    Hi
i have the latest version of Itunes on my PC & running Windows 7  and before i upgraded everything was perfectly working with the old itunes . As soon as i upgraded itunes, the songs are pausing from anything from 30 secs to a whole min and then resume play.
I have re installed itunes countless of times and still nothing is working. I thought maybe it was a quicktime player problem so i re -installed that too, again nothing.
There will be times when the song plays fully with no breaks but then the next song will have multiple breaks and will not play properly
Any help would be appreciated as this is very annoying

The Apple Store won't be able to do anything unless they see the problem happen there.

  • My iPhone 5 keeps pausing music using 30 pin to lightening adapter in my car

I have a Blitzsafe iPhone adapter in my car and recently upgraded to the iPhone 5.  I purchased the wired 30 pin to lightening adapter and the music will start off playing fine but it randomly stops the music every 30 seconds or so, doesn't happen all the time but close.  I have no issues playing music with headphones or through the speakers on the phone itself.  And taking out the new adapter iPhone 4 or 4s play fine through my car stereo.  Have a feeling it has something to do with that adapter but not sure why it would stop the music periodically.  Any thoughts?

In which case try the Apple adapter in another environment to ensure it is functioning correctly
Assume this is the version you have

  • ITunes keeps removing music from my library! Is there any way to get this to stop?

For the last three years or so iTunes intermittently removes parts of my library. I'm so sick of dealing with this! I'm beginning to intensely dislike Apple. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to what it's removing and I don't think it's the same songs every time. Is there any way to remedy this from happening so often?

Have you not got a backup of your content on, for example, external drives ? If not then you could have a look to see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still exist and work : https://discussions.apple.com/message/11014893?messageID=11014893#11014893

  • My dad and I shared an iTunes account for years and now I'm getting my own, how can I keep my music and apps?

My dad and I shared an iTunes account for years and now I'm getting my own, how can I keep my music and apps? I'm worried that I won't have any ability to access my apps and music. We have our itunes separated on different computers, so I have all of my stuff separated from his, but I don't know how to put them in my new account.

Well... there really isn't any fully legal way to do this.
The simplest solution is to continue sharing the same iTunes purchasing acct, but create different ones for iCloud (assuming that's why you needed to do the split).
Slightly less kosher: Burn AUDIO CD's, of the music then copy them back to your new account.
BE sure to do this from original acount, To keep the music info, you'll  copy over the CDDB file (in prefs somewhere) - since this maintains the data of CDs that you've had in library.... (it isn't carried over onto a user created CD.)
