ITunes keeps playing music videos in fullscreen mode.

Hi, I'm having this issue with itunes 10.4
Everytime a music video plays on itunes it goes fullscreen!
Even if i'm using safari for instance, my space it's changed to the fullscreened video and it doesnt even show up, its just a black screen with the music in the background
And after the music video finishes, the next song starts in the Visualizer mode,
it won't go back to the normal window it's annoying
How can i change this?
I tried to find an option in preferences but couldnt find it

Try to set your preferred video size in the iTunes View menu > Video Playback > [Options].
This used to be in preferences. but now is in the View menju.

Dear Apple, I doubt you'll read this or do anything but I guess it's worth a try.  It used to be that when you played a music video via the musof app on your iphone, it would display the video in landscape mode. Now, extermely inituitively, turning your phone to the side shows a selection of your album covers. No one wants that. I seriously can not think of one person. Looking in your own forums you have questions in 2013 asking to bring this back but no response has been given. That's called arrogance. This is not some big technical ask. It would take you little to no time so what gives? You say you care about the customer experience but between this and the iTunes library syncing issues I am beginning to question that.
You're correct as there is no Apple here in this user to user technical forum.

  • ITunes will not play music videos through airplay

This is a specific user account issue.  If I create a new account I do not have this issue.  That being said I really want to solve this for my existing user login.
Music Videos (and tagged as such) play in iTunes fine.
If I select my AppleTV (which is listed as an airplay device).  It completely ignores the selection and continues to play on my Mac.  I am unable to play Music Videos over airplay.
When playing music I am able to select any airplay device and it works fine.
When playing movies I am able to select any airplay video device and it works fine.
If I change the Music Video tag to Movies it plays fine
If I change it to Home Videos it plays fine.
If I try to launch iTunes in safe mode it fails to play at all because of the lack of Quicktime support.
Obviously it's something in my ~/Library that is messing it up somehow.
The only plugin I have is AudioScrobbler.bundle and removing launching iTunes does not solve it.
I've tried recreating all of my iTunes preference files and that doesn't solve the issue.
    It's maddening!
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Greg

I have narrowed it down to the ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iTunes.(incredibly long hash).
Removing this file causes a new one to be regenerated and that solved nothing.
Removing the ~/Library/iTunes directory and the ByHost preferences file and rebooting did work temporarily.
There was only one plugin (AudioScrobbler.bundle) in the iTunes directory.
I was able to play a music video and select the AppleTV and then broadcast to it.  This lasted last then a few hours and now it's back to the way it was before.  Select the AppleTV is silently ignored.
Highly frustrating.  I have a broke and fixed version of the com.apple.iTunes ByHOST preference file but doing a diff of the two is useless as most of the xml entries are long strings of hash values.  No human discernable difference between the working and not working files.  At this point I defintely want to file a bug report.

  • Since I updated to iTunes 11 my music videos in my library no longer play through my wireless soundlink

Since I updated to iTunes 11 my music videos in my library on my computer no longer play through my wireless soundlink. My regular music works but as soon as it hits a music video the sound drops.

Yes I installed the newest version of Quicktime.  Still doesn't work even stumped the iTunes tech he says theres some compatibility problem between either the Bose Soundlink or iTunes just weird that my Bose works perfectly fine with my iTouch but keeps dropping the music videos if I'm playing them through my computer...

    Hello Wade,
This is typically indicative of an issue with the installation of QuickTime on your computer. The following article provides steps for reinstalling QuickTime to resolve the issue.
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
    Resolution
QuickTime may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to uninstall QuickTime and then download and install QuickTime using the QuickTime standalone Installer.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
Windows XP and Windows 2000: Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel and selectQuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Uninstall a program (or if using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click Programs and Features) and select QuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Click the Remove button (or Uninstall for Windows Vista and Windows 7) and follow the prompts to remove QuickTime from your computer.
Download QuickTime. Note: There are two options for downloading QuickTime, be sure to select the option that does not include iTunes.
    During the download:
If you choose to run the installer, proceed to the next step.
If you choose to save the download, double click the QuickTimeInstaller file, then proceed to next step.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickTime.
    Reopen iTunes.

    iTunes won't play music videos.

    Hey guys, here's my problem.
I had some major issues with OSX last week that a trip to the Apple Store couldn't fix. Their only advice was to save all my pictures, music, documents, etc. and reformat. I did that yesterday. I reinstalled everything and then downloaded all the most recent updates.
Today, I can play all the music I own in iTunes (music imported from CDs, bought from other sites, and music bought from iTunes itself). However, it won't play any of the music videos I have (all bought off iTunes).
I have authorized the computer again and again. When I try to open the videos in Quicktime it tells me that I don't have permission to play them and that I need to authorize the computer.
    I'm lost. Any help?

Yup, this Audio but no Video WAS exactly the same trouble I was having, on my MacBook and iMac but not the other 2 MacBooks. This was due to the speaker settings at the bottom right hand corner of the iTunes window. I do use multiple speakers via Airtunes, on the two that were having trouble but not the other two, and although the speakers were only set to the computer it still wouldn't play the video content.
Whilst the audio (of the music video) was playing I then went to reselect multiple speakers, which brought up the "*failure to connect to remote speakers network refused connection*" warning, then I unchecked the remote speakers to leave just the "Computer" and hey presto the video came to life.
Thank you Charles C n Miami and hope this extra info helps.
    Happy Music Video Watching
    Matt

  • I can't play music videos bought from iTunes

So I bought 3 videos from that triple play, 2 for 1 sale on itunes. I loaded all three videos unto my iphone via playlist because for some reason, they wouldn't sync even though the check mark for music videos is on. Anyway, so I transferred them over, but the videos don't play. It only plays sound, but no video. Am I missing something here? I thought I was able to play music videos on the iphone? That's the only reason why I bought those videos, I don't even have an actual video ipod...the only other ipod I have is my super old 3rd gen...any suggestions on how to get this working?

in iPod, what option are you selecting to play the music videos?
You should select Video. If you view by artist or playlist, then only the music will play.

  • Itunes no longer plays music videos on iMac 27inch

When I click on a music video to play the music plays but the video does not.  This never used to be the case.  Has anybody seen this happen.  TV programmes and normal movies play fine..
I found the answer minutes after posting the question !  Seems you cannot have a remote set of speakers selected when playing music videos.  Somebody had already answered previously

  • After iTunes upgrade, iTunes not playing music in Windows 8.

I just upgraded to the latest version of iTunes (ver. 1.1.2.31) on Windows 8.1. The prior version of iTunes worked fine, but after this upgrade, it won't play music. No error message, and it will play music videos. It says it's playing, and I can click from play to pause, but no sound comes out, and the bar doesn't scroll (so it's not advancing beyond 0:00 on the time of the song). Sound is fine on my computer, and I've even reinstalled iTunes. I also tried changing it to run as if on Windows 7. Nothing works. Any ideas?

Not sure why this worked, but I dragged my old iTunes Library file and iTunes Music Library.xml from the old computer into the new one, and it automatically worked. Weird fix, but I'm happy nonetheless.

  • How can I get my stereo to play music videos from my Ipod Nano?  It comes up with the message "This device not supported".  Strangely my Iphone IS recognised.  The stereo, Ipod, and Iphone are less than 4 months old. Any suggestions welcome!

How do I get my Ipod to play music videos through my theatre system?  I keep getting the message "This device not supported".  My theatre system WILL recognise my Iphone however.  The theatre system, Ipod, and Iphone are all less than 4 months old.  Any suggestions welcome!

Check with the theater system vendor and see if their system is compatible with the Nano. The resolution on the Nano may be too low for the system.

  • I have downloaded I Tunes 10.7 and now the program shuts down when I try to play music videos?

I have downloaded I Tunes 10.7 to my computer and now the program closes when I try to play music videos. Is there a fix out there I can try?

from what I read on the discussion boards there seems to be little or nothing to do that may not mess up the computer (Like jerky videos if Quicktime fix is tried) except wait for Apple to do a proper fix with updates at this point. I am not willing to try the fixes explained so far. The reviews of them are spotty on them working if at all. My I Tunes works on everything but the videos and that is better than nothing which did happen at first. So I will keep watching for any other fixes that might be promising or an Apple Update.

  • I-tunes stops working when playing music video

  • Don´t want to play music videos automatically when playing a Single

    I´m using iTunes 11.
Its very annoying that iTunes plays music videos automatically when I´m listening to a single I bought on iTunes Store which includes a music video.  I don´t have a problem with it when the video appears in my music library, but I don´t want to watch it when I only want to hear music and iTunes is minimized.
I could create a playlist, but I don´t want to because for two tracks it´s worthless.
So does anyone have a workaround for this issue?`
    Greets

When in iTunes, click on file, then preferences. See the "general" tab. There is a drop down menu "When you insert a CD". What are your settings there ?

  • After upgrading recently I got this message: "The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." The music/video files are still on my MacBook Pro.  Is it because I'm still on 10.5.8?  How do I fix this?

For your reference I’m using a MacBook Pro running 10.5.8.  Several weeks ago on a Monday I received an upgrade for iTunes. When Tuesday arrived I attempted to log in so that I could download the latest freebie song(s).  I was met w/this message: “The file ‘iTunes Library.itl’ cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.”
The music/video files are still on my Mac (I’ve verified that via Searchlight), but I’m unable to open the program.  Since I know that 10.5.8 is rapidly becoming prehistoric, could it be that the newest iTunes isn’t compatible w/this particular OS?  I’d like to switch up, but understand that the newest OS won’t work on a Mac of this vintage (6 years old).  In addition, my Adobe products (all CS2) won’t work w/anything newer than 10.5.8, so I’m reluctant to go to a newer OS (I just can’t afford the Adobe upgrade $$$ @ this point).
Is there any way to get a download of an “old” iTunes version?  If there were, I’d simply refuse any future upgrades until my personal economy allows me to stop working as if it were 2006.  Please advise, somebody!

I don't know how you received an upgrade for iTunes.  You make it sound like it was sent to you.  At most your computer will tell you of a new version and you tell it to download it and install it.  However, a computer will not do this for a version which is incompatible.  iTunes 10.7 came out a few weeks ago but your computer would not notify you and even if it did, 10.7 would refuse to install on your computer.  So this part isn't making a lot of sense.
Two ways to get the 'newer version' message.  One is to open your library on a computer running a newer version, and then try to open it with an older version.  Usually happens when the library is on an external and used with multiple computers.  The second way is if you have multiple versions of itunes installed on your computer.
The newest (and likely the last) iTunes for OSX 10.5.8 is iTunes 10.6.3 which has been out for quite a while.
