Itunes keeps reopens by itself after i close it on xp

Has anyone out there been able to figure out why and how to stop itunes from reopening itself after you close it on windows XP. This is an xp ? so please don't post mac os answers. From what I read and heard from support, no-one at apple knows why this is happening. I used itunes to legaly buy and download music. I do own an ipod and therefore don't connect one to my computer. I have a feeling it has to do with the ipodservice and or the itunes helper service that seem to ignore the fact that I have disabled them in services.msc. But nothing works. I will listen to some music via itunes, download some from the store, etc.. When I am done I will try file/exit, or closing via the x in the top right corner. Then suddenly the software reopens... I dont want to have to stop using itunes, but I can not get a fix for this I may just have to switch over to rhapsody via windows media player. Appkle tech support said they couldnt help me and didnt know why it works. Thats sad cause I spend a lot of money on intunes and if they dont care about me, then i can only assume they will treat me the same if I bought one of thier computers. Looks like they lose a customer here..... Any insights would much be appreciated. Links from previous post anything that might help me fix this issue that apple says too bad your a pc user.

I'm having the exact same problem in Windows Vista. It has only happened since the last update to iTunes; it didn't happen before that. It happens ever five minute or so and is making me insane. Of course, I can't delete iTunes, since that's where my iPod library resides. Somebody MUST do something about this. Can anyone help?

  • ITunes keeps opening up, even after I close it?!?

Anyone else experiencing this? Jeeze, it is getting annoying. I close it and in about 3-4 minutes, it opens again.
    I'm on a new PowerBook G4.

I have the EXACT same issue. I'm on a G5 PowerMac. It's not happening on my new Powerbook (G4) but i didn't install the latest OS update on my powerbook because it's giving me issues on my G5 (ichat doesn't work and iTunes keeps opening itself). I think it has something to do with the update that's just my guess.

Is there any way to stop this behavior?

  • Re: iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music

I have something really strange going on.
My iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music. I cannot figure this out. I turned off the "Sync Via Wireless" on all my gadgets, but this continues to happen. This has woken me up in the middle of the night until I got so tired of it I just shut my Mac down.
Anybody hear of this? Know what to do?

I had the same problem - and as well as opening by itself iTunes was skipping from track to track like crazy. But then I found a post from a few years ago that fixed this.
Connect your iPhone to your iMac and uncheck the box that says 'Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected'. Problem solved!
    Hope this works for you.

The results show that you have a proxy server set and this can often cause problems with iTunes.
The proxy setting can be accessed in Internet options>>Connections>>LAN Settings.
Try un-checking the proxy server check box.
It might also be a good idea to run a malware check if you didn't know you had the proxy server set.
You can download a free version of an excellent scanner- Malwarebytes here:

  • Safari keeps erasing my history after i close it!

I am using Safari 4.0 on Windows Vista and it keeps deleting my history after I close it. I do not have Public browsing turned on and my preferences aren't set to delete history.
    Please help!

You can't make it like this, you should create new account with english name, and log in it. Your current account folder (on disk) contains non-english symbols, and safari can't address it - by changing the name, you don't change folder name, so you should create new account and run Safari from it.

Plugin-Container keeps playing video sound after I close the tab/window. I have to shut down the process to make the sound stop.

Try disabling hardware acceleration. Many visual bugs can be attributed to issues with graphics drivers.
(Firefox -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> [ ] Use hardware acceleration when available)

  • ITunes keeps opening by itself

iTunes when I click on the folder with the files it automatically opens iTunes. Even when I do a right click and then properties on the iTunes folder it automatically opens iTunes. If I close it but have the properties window still open it will start iTunes again. It gets annoying as anything that if I do anything with the iTunes folder it automatically opens iTunes. I am not trying to play a file I may just left click it once to highlight it or right click to get it's properties and iTunes starts. As long as the folder is highlighted or properties window is open iTunes will keep starting after I close the program. It will only stop restarting when I leave the iTunes folder completely.

    yes, "iTunes" and "iTunes Artwork".
Do you think they are the culprit(s)? I'll put them aside and see what happens.
I have another User on the iMac but I don't know if the problems happens there.
    thanks for the tip

  • ITunes keep saying restoring iPhone after updating to iOS 5

I have just upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. After updating, my iTunes keep saying restoring iPhone apps. Now I can use my iPhone but without my previous apps. I have also tried closing iTunes and open it again but it still says restoring iPhone apps as soon as it detact my iPhone. Does anyone knows how to solve this problem? By the way, I am using Windows.

I had the same issue with my iPad. The iPad itself thought it was fully updated (had taken me to the iCloud set up etc) but iTunes insisted it was still restoring apps. I closed down iTunes each time via the task manager.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, which didn't help.
What I did in the end was disconnect the iPad while iTunes was still running - without any attempt to eject it. When I then plugged it back in, it came up with an error message along the lines of "An attempt to restore this iPad was interrupted. Do you wish to continue attempting to restore?" I hit cancel, and I was then able to do a manual sync as normal, and all my app data was restored.

  • ITunes keeps opening by itself and playing music.

My iTunes keeps randomly opening up by itself and playing music. When it happens, I quit the app and it stops for the day, but it will happen again randomly. Like days or weeks later. I don't know why my computer has decided to start doing this recently, but it's really getting on my nerves.

Sooo annoying. And STILL not fixed.

  • My iTunes keep restarting by itself.

I plugged in my iPad 2 to sync it and everything went like it should. I forgot to eject it first and just unplugged my iPad. Now iTunes keeps restarting as if the device has been plugged in agian , even though it has not. Anyone with some help?

Problem solved, uncheck "sync over wifi" when device is connected text time.

  • After upgrading to 10.6 itunes keeps restarting when I try to close it. It does it 6 to 8 times

I have problems closing 10.6  it operates finre but restarts about 6 or 7 times no matter how I try to close it

Sorry about that. Let's see what we can do. Take a look at this site:
    http://www.mikestechblog.com/joomla/networking-section/network-printing-category /52-how-to-configure-an-hp-jetdirect-300x-print-server.html
It's to set up on a Windows PC but just get an IP address at step 8. Then access the JetDirect's admin area using the IP address. Make the address fixed so your router cant change it. Then using System Preferences>Print & Fax you need to add the printer using the IPP protocol. If the IPP protocol doesn't work then try the HP JetDirect.
It's been a while since I had my HP LJ4MP set up that way so my memory is a bit fuzzy on it. Once you get it - it works. The only other thought is to get a cable with a 25 pin on one end and USB on the other.

  • ITunes keeps restarting by itself on another user account

Problem began since I started using a new computer running Vista Ultimate, 64 bit. Even though a second account on the computer that WAS using iTunes closes it, when I go to MY account WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO OPEN iTunes, window upon window opens telling me I can't run iTunes because another user is running it.
Then, when I go to the other account, I see iTunes OPEN! I'll close it, go to my account, and the windows keep opening again, telling me I can't run iTunes, even though I don't want to!
I wind up going to the Task Manager and closing iTunes helper and anything else I see with iTunes as the name.

I am running Windows XP and I've been experiencing this problem for a little while, not sure exactly when it started happening. Everyone once in awhile when I try to launch iTunes on my main user account, it won't run because it is running on another account (which I never want it to run on). I was just coming here to see if I can stop that from happening, I only ever want to run it on my main account.
I do notice that iTunesHelper is running on both user accounts, and that is probably directly related to my issue. I just plugged in my iPod and got the message than iTunes is running on another account - my guess is, with that iTunesHelper running on both accounts, it is luck which account sees it first and launches iTunes. However I have also received this message when I manually run iTunes as opposed to just plugging it in with the auto-detection.
That iTunesHelper is pretty inconsistent - I have seen it running on one account only, both accounts, and no accounts if I look in the task list. I think that is the main problem but I don't know how to prevent it from running on secondary user accounts.
In any event this problem is not isolated to Vista, and that is the main reason why I am posting in this thread.

  • Why my iPhone 4S keep reseting by itself after iOS 7 update?

    Hello:
This s not funny at all.  After I updated to IOS 7.0.3 couple weeks ago, there s several times my phone is reseting by itself.
When I try to turned ON again, s telling me the battery s dead and need to connect it to the power source.
After connected, is coming back again to the live and telling me the right charge of battery I had before.
Battery it was never empty or close to be. Always is around 50 % of capacity.
This happens on the middle of a call, texting or mailing.
Tell me what I could do to stop this mess up,
    Please.

I tried everything. I restarted it, I putted it on factory settings, I deleted every App but nothing helped.
In Apple Store, they told me that it is a hardware problem and my phone isn't able to use the new iOS 7.1 because my phone is too old but it's only 2,5 years old.
I suspect that something in that conversation was seriously misunderstood.  The iPhone 4S runs iOS 7 without any issues.
If the device has a hardware issue, then it does not matter what version of iOS is on the device, it will not function properly.

  • ITunes keeps opening by itself while an apple product is plugged in abuot every 20 seconds, even while minimized. Suggestions?????

Hello there my problem is as stated above It's very annoying, because I can't do anything while my iPod is charging, I have no idea why and I'm very irritated as this is absolutely ridiculous -.- If anyone knows why this keeps happening and can help me prevent it from happening anymore, that would be fantastic!!!

Nevermind, I found a solution .. What I did was go to the start menu, in the seach bar type in msconfig, double clicked that, then went to startup tab, and unchecked the iTunes box. So if anyone else is having this problem, this may work for you as well
