ITunes Keeps restarting

Hi All,
I've seen several Discussions on this but none of the answers seem to work for me.
I just built a new windows 7 (64-bit) machine. Updated all the Windows software not running MS Office.
I installed iTunes 10.5.2.11 and started reloading music from my old machine. Then I closed down iTunes and 5 seconds later it restarts and that cycle will continue when ever I try to close it. The only way to close it is to open task manager and kill the process or log off.
I have tried repairing the installation of iTunes.
I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it.
nothing seems to fix this issue.
I haven't loaded any additional software, apps, addons, widgets etc.. Just installed iTunes and tried to exit it and it will restart within seconds.
This is extremely annoying, has anyone solved this issue yet?
Since this machine is going to eventually be for my son and his new iPod  Touch i want it working correctly so that I don't have to waste even  more time with it.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
-Phil

Hi Joy,
You may have to download the Sony's VAIO Entertainment Platform update.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2715 describes a similar issue related to the Sony VAIO Entertainment Platform.

  • ITunes keeps restarting like im first using the program!

Ive been using iTunes for years.  Im having a problem where when i close the program and come back to it on another day it is like ive never opend iTunes before.  It wants me to search my computer for music.  I am able to import my playlists and get things back to the way they were (kinda) but the next time i close down itunes it restarts the same way!
VERY FRUSTRATING!!!    Anybody got a clue as to why this could be happening?
    Some more information........
We keep our itunes music folder in a public folder because both my wife and myself have iphones and we update with the same computer.  We were finding that if we tried to update on same itunes we got each others info.  It was suggested by apple that we have two seperate user accounts on our computer so it would eliminate that.   I am using windows vista, Norton antivirus runs every night, and i have an HP simplesave hard drive that backs info up when computer is idle.
    Thanks for the help!

If anyone has a clue as to why this is still happening id love to hear it!
I completely re-installed itunes (deleting everythign in the correct order per apple).   but still no luck.   This is driving me mad! lol.
    Anyone.....Please help!

  • ITunes keeps restarting by itself on another user account

Problem began since I started using a new computer running Vista Ultimate, 64 bit. Even though a second account on the computer that WAS using iTunes closes it, when I go to MY account WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO OPEN iTunes, window upon window opens telling me I can't run iTunes because another user is running it.
Then, when I go to the other account, I see iTunes OPEN! I'll close it, go to my account, and the windows keep opening again, telling me I can't run iTunes, even though I don't want to!
I wind up going to the Task Manager and closing iTunes helper and anything else I see with iTunes as the name.

I am running Windows XP and I've been experiencing this problem for a little while, not sure exactly when it started happening. Everyone once in awhile when I try to launch iTunes on my main user account, it won't run because it is running on another account (which I never want it to run on). I was just coming here to see if I can stop that from happening, I only ever want to run it on my main account.
I do notice that iTunesHelper is running on both user accounts, and that is probably directly related to my issue. I just plugged in my iPod and got the message than iTunes is running on another account - my guess is, with that iTunesHelper running on both accounts, it is luck which account sees it first and launches iTunes. However I have also received this message when I manually run iTunes as opposed to just plugging it in with the auto-detection.
That iTunesHelper is pretty inconsistent - I have seen it running on one account only, both accounts, and no accounts if I look in the task list. I think that is the main problem but I don't know how to prevent it from running on secondary user accounts.
In any event this problem is not isolated to Vista, and that is the main reason why I am posting in this thread.

  • After upgrading to 10.6 itunes keeps restarting when I try to close it. It does it 6 to 8 times

I have problems closing 10.6  it operates finre but restarts about 6 or 7 times no matter how I try to close it

Sorry about that. Let's see what we can do. Take a look at this site:
    http://www.mikestechblog.com/joomla/networking-section/network-printing-category /52-how-to-configure-an-hp-jetdirect-300x-print-server.html
It's to set up on a Windows PC but just get an IP address at step 8. Then access the JetDirect's admin area using the IP address. Make the address fixed so your router cant change it. Then using System Preferences>Print & Fax you need to add the printer using the IPP protocol. If the IPP protocol doesn't work then try the HP JetDirect.
It's been a while since I had my HP LJ4MP set up that way so my memory is a bit fuzzy on it. Once you get it - it works. The only other thought is to get a cable with a 25 pin on one end and USB on the other.

  • Itunes keeps restarting on QUIT!/Exit!!

Everytime I quit iTunes it emediately reopens? Why??
Sometimes takes several Quits to stop it!!!!!!

    ARE YOU FOR REAL ?!?
"good answer", passing fault to the user !
i'm FAR FAR AWAY from my computer and i use logmein to access it, and every time i do that iTunes is starting and then not exiting
ALSO, even that i have a iPhone, still, i deactivated WiFi SYNC AND COMPUTER SYNC long ago (i only use iCloud, and moved everything about iPhone sync on my laptop)
furthermore ! iTunes, just like apple update, is started by a windows core service, not (how it should be normal) by an apple installed service, even that apple software always install few services and put things in widows own start up and tasks ... things that i deactivated but still get spammed by apple updates, iTunes, etc.
i guess SPYWARE BEHAVIOUR is somenting normal, right ?
so ! in conclusion be cause i use iTunes on a pc, what Apple want me to do is to uninstall iTunes all toghether !
that is also suggested by the fact that iTunes is CRAWLING on windows, this is the main reason why i posted this ... when starting iTunes, all computer go slow, it takes a lot to itunes to start and so on ... i may not have top hardware but i think quad core with 6G ram and windows 7 x64 is pretty decent

  • ITunes keeps restarting after I shut it down

    Hi
I've had this problem on two different computers with two versions of Windows (XP and Vista). But it seems that since I've installed iTunes 10 (or even iTunes 9, when this problem started), almost immediately after quitting iTunes, it starts up again. I have to quit iTunes (and deal with it re-starting) at least 5 times before it finally quits for good. Obviously, it's frustrating enough that I'm braving the waters of the Apple Support Community.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can stop this from happening? It's really annoying, and the only question I've seen like it relates to MacOS, so that's no help to me.
    Thanks!

Follow these instructions to completely remove Apple software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Then use free Ccleaner to repeatly repair your registry until it's fixed.
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
    download iTunes again from Apple.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You  should be making backups of your content regularly, either through  iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a  external drive.

  • Itunes 10.5.0.142 keeps restarting itself on Windows 7, how can I turn this off?

All of a sudden, itunes 10.5.0.142 keeps restarting itself on Windows 7.  I did not change any configuration settings on Windows.  How can I disable this?
    Thanks

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

  • TS2972 Have to keep restarting iTunes for homeshare

I replaced my two Apple TV 2s with Apple TV3s, and now I have to keep restarting iTunes on my iMac to see my libary.
It was flawless before.  I very rarely had to restart iTunes.
I have an iMac (2011, i7), hardwired to an airport extreme, and then the two Apple TVs are hard wired as well.
I'd blame the ATV3s, but I also can't see the library on my iOS devices unless I restart iTunes on the iMac regularly.
    Thanks for any assistance.

    Same issue here :-/
One Apple TV2, one Apple TV3.  Both hard wired into AEBS which in turn is hard wired to a Mac Mini running iTunes.  The library itself is on a HDD attached to the AEBS via USB.  Also two airport express units.
Once/twice a day the remote app on my iPad/iPhone loses sight of iTunes, as do the Apple TVs.  Quick restart of iTunes and we're back in business.  iTunes on the Mac is fully functional in these periods of downtime so it's not like it cannot talk to the hard drive where the library is or anything.  It is EXTREMELY annoying and got worse recently so some update has done something bad.  Everything is running latest versions of software/firmware.
I set something up on my iPhone/iPad so I can restart iTunes remotely which helps A LOT but it's still far from ideal and not very 'Apple'.

  • ITunes 11.0.4 for Windows keeps restarting and removing my set-up and preferences

iTunes 11.0.4 for Windows keeps restarting and removing my set-up and preferences every time its shut down and re-opened, how can I stop this?
All of the music (etc) is still there but I need to agree to the terms and condition of the 'Software License Agreement for iTunes for Windows' every time I open iTunes.
Once opened there is no personal set-up, such as side menus and how the lists are set-up (e.g showing album images, music listed in ‘most played’ order, etc etc) I know how to re-do all of my settings, Its just getting very annoying now.
Anyone know how to stop this or at least why It is doing it?

I found why it defaults back to the wizard. I noticed in  C:/users/(User)/AppData/Roaming/Apple  Computer/iTunes/iTunesPerfs.xml file is deleted from this directory upon  exiting iTunes. When I manully restore this file itunes starts with my  correct settings. Why the .xml file being deleted I don't know. iTunes is deleting the file when you exit so I guess there is just a bug.

  • After the update iTunes keeps crashing and won't play any of my music and keeps restarting my phone.

After the update iTunes keeps crashing and won't play any of my music and keeps restarting my phone.
Anyone else have this problem and resolved it?
    Thank you!

Well, I hadn't rebooted after the 7.1.1 upgrade, but obviously I had to restart iTunes. After I rebooted my iBook iTunes worked... Maybe the 7.1.1 update should be marked with a must reboot?

    Dear all.
    I am using Macbook Pro 13-inch (i7 2.9 Ghz, 8 GB DDR3, 750 GB) with OS X Maverick (10.9.4).
For the last few months, my Macbook Pro kept restarting itself and I usually ignored this issue until yesterday, my MBP fail to boot up, only display the grey apple logo and rolling icon below for almost 30 mins.
I tried the safe mode and reset NVRAM method and it still fail to boot up and sometimes a black text appears (aka kernel panic).
Then i took my macbook pro to the nearest Apple service provider and the technician said that it was probably due to the 750 GB Hard Disk since the HD itself is a faulty product, therefore we can't find any 750 GB HD nowadays. So he recommended me to replace my current HD with a new HD. I took his advice and I replaced it with 1 TB Toshiba HD. And then the technician reformat my MBP and installed the OS X Maverick. My Macbook pro able to boot up now.
However the next day I still find my MBP keeps restarting itself (until now) and take note that I didn't install any new softwares, I only updated the available  updates in Apps Store for the OS, iBooks, and iTunes.
Can anyone recommend me what to do? Is this a Hardware problem or software problem?
I'm thinking to switch back to OS Lion to see whether this is mainly due to OS Maverick.
    Thank you.

Unfortunately yes.   Since the computer is unable to boot up, that part of the software starts BEFORE the OS would.  Last time I had this problem, it turned out to be a faulty GPU (soldered to the logic board) and i needed to replace the logic board.    If you wanted to, you could indeed back up your personal data (you should ANYWAY, no matter what you do)  and you could try to do a fresh install,  but I'm fairly confident you are experiencing either faulty ram, or a faulty logic board.
