ITunes keeps reverting to an old state, deleting everything.
I followed Apple's directions to move my iTunes library to an external harddrive.
I spent several hours organizing, importing, labeling, getting dvd images for discs I'd ripped from my collection, etc. I finally had my iTunes organized exactly how I wanted it.
It's been a couple of days, opening, reopening, playing things, shutting down my computer, etc.
Every time I open iTunes I have to go to Preferences and select my external harddisk. This takes about 5 minutes becuase it has to go through and find everything again. I don't really understand why I had to do this, why couldn't it just remember that my external harddrive was the location of my library?
Then someone told me I could just hold down option while I opened iTunes and select the proper library. So I did that. And now everything is gone. I hit "choose library" and chose the library that's on my external drive. Now my iTunes is back in the same state it was before I even moved it. None of my new stuff is there, nothing is organized properly, all my old things that I had deleted are back. But it can't find anything. Even the things that are in the proper places in the external harddrive, it won't play.
What is happening? Can someone please tell me how to fix this?! I'm pretty upset, if everything is gone I've lost a lot of time and $$ and I'm going to be pretty ******.

Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select "Library" from the dropdown, then "Preferences" folder.
Look for these two files.
com.apple.desktop.plist
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Right click each one of those and select " Move To Trash" from the contextual menu.
Restart the computer.

The I cloud on mu IPAd keeps reverting to my old password so that I cannot get mail. Sometimes this happens on my iPhone as well. I type in the correct password in the iCloud account and mail account under settings but it always reverts back and preventsme from getting mail. Can only retrieve mail from i cloud on my competer. Follow the steps listed here under the section titled "External Drive". Once you find the location of the iTunes Media folder you can transfer it over a netork connection, rather than using an external drive.

Song/Album info keeps reverting back to old version when played on itunes

I am having trouble with iTunes 6 reverting my Track/Album information to the original when I select the song or album to be played. I have re-organized my library's live albums' names to start with the year in which it was recorded rather than original album name; however, when i click on a song to listen to it, the song moves- when I click to show the location of the song playing, it is back listed under the album name that I just edited... any help would be greatly appreciated, this is quite frustrating!
RPWIt sounds like you actually want/need to update the tags of the songs and not just rename them. That's the only way this can be properly handled in your iTunes library.
Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to Edit > Show Browser so you can easily navigate through the albums you've already got. Now, once you select an (improperly named) album from the browser, you isolate all the songs on that album. Just select them all (click one of the tracks and press Apple+a), then press Apple+i to edit tag information. Click the Info tab, and there you can enter the desired/modified album name in the Album field. Once you've done that, click the OK button.
Another alternative is to display the Year tag in your iTunes library. That way you don't need to edit the Album tags (unless you still want to). To enable the display of the Year tag, go to Edit > View Options and check the box next to Year, then click OK. When you return to your iTunes library, a new column will be added for the Year tag. -
Changing "Reel" number keeps reverting back to old number.
I have a situation where I changed the reel number on about 75 tapes that I have. After changing the #'s, I noticed that about 65 of the changes kept and about 10 keep reverting back to what they were before I changed them. Any ideas on why this is happening? As an example, I had the tapes numbered as: 1001, 1002, 1003, etc but decided to be more specific with my tape labeling and changed them all to HT1_1001, HT1_1002, HT1_1003, etc. All the changes stuck except for a select few. I've even tried dragging the source quicktime file (which is labeled correctly) back into the project...to no avail.
I don't think I would have thought of that, assuming your capture scratch was all on one drive. Thanks for posting your solution, hardly anyone ever does that around here.

ITunes keeps reverting ID3 tags
I have quite a few MP3s which, no matter how many times I edit/correct their ID3 tags, revert to what they were originally. This happens any time I restart iTunes.

Desktop wallpaper keeps reverting to an old one
Just recently my desktop wallpaper reverted to one a had in place a good while ago. Since having this 'old' one, the wallapper has been changed a number of times. When this occurs, I cannot change my wallpaper using System Preferences.
Often a restart is required to resolve this.
How can I stop this happening?Close all windows and quit all applications.

I-Pod Keeps Restoring the original format and deleting everything AnyIdeas?
Okay. This is what happened about a half hour ago:
I went to pick out a new album to listen to, and suddenly it restarted itself. Or actually, the screen didn't go blank, it just had the small apple icon in the middle of the black screen for a few seconds, then started back up again.
Next, I went to find the album again, thinking that it was just one of those normal "problems" that usually don't happen again. Then it DID IT AGAIN. i repeated the same actions, hoping it would finally stop. It didn't.
Then, soon after, it DELETED ALL OF MY MUSIC AND ARTISTS AND ALBUMS!!!
I've only had the 4 GB Nano for about a month and yeah I didn't expect it to do that.
If it helps any, everytime the I-Pod restarts, the clicker is clicking again (I always hsave the sound of it off) like when you first buy it and it asks you what language you want it in (also like when you first turn it on after buying it)
Can you please help me? I am freaking out!!!

Dreamweaver template (.dwt) keeps reverting to old version after reopening CS3
I work locally on all files and upload as needed. After chaging template and applying it, I can upload all associated pages just fine. If I close DW and reopen, the old version of the template is there without any changes -- even though I saved the template.
Also, updating the template will change all other web pages except index.html.
Any ideas?
ThanksSure. No nested templates to my knowledge -- especially since I only have one template. Look like I have some regions in my index.html that don't match the .dwt -- even though the .dwt was created from the .html. When I tried to update the .html, it really screws up the content. Numbers file keeps reverting to old version
I use Numbers (Version 3.5.2) on my MacBook Pro running (Yosemite 10.10.2) and also on my iPad air (running iOS 8.1.3) and iPhone 6 (running iOS 8.1.3). I have a file that I use to keep track of grades that is used across all three devices. In the last month the file keeps reverting back to an old version of the file. After this happens I can go into Numbers on Mac and Select "Revert to..." and select the correct version of the file. I did this yesterday and deliberately reverted to the correct version on the Mac and saved, then opened the iPad, made sure it had the correct version, made a minor change and closed the file. I then opened on the iPhone made sure it was the correct version, made a minor change and saved. I then reopened on the Mac it was the correct version and included the minor changes made on the iPad and iPhone. I saved and then closed the file. Today when I open the file on my Mac, it is back to a version that is over a month old. I again used the "Revert to.." command and was able to get back to the correct version of the file from yesterday. I can't figure out why it keeps reverting to an old version. At first I thought it was pulling in an old version from the iPad or iPhone, but after the experiment yesterday that does not seem likely. Has anyone else had this problem? It is making me seriously question the use of Numbers with documents in the cloud as I can not be certain that the data in the file is correct.
