Itunes keeps shuffling the songs out of order when i burn a CD

I have no idea why this is happening. The shuffle is turned off. I just installed the new version with the same results. Thanks in advance for any help.

It is a weird bug that shows up unpredictably.
The following workaround sometimes help: start a new playlist and add the same songs to it. Make sure the little triangle is above the number column, and get the songs into the right order. Then do the burn from the new playlist.

i tried turning shuffle off and on, what that does is the songs remain in their place but when they finish playing they go to a song that isnt next on the playlist. Sort of a double-shuffle. Anyway, not that i know how to move songs around on a playlist, but even if i did i shouldnt have to move the songs back to place manually. Isnt there an option that puts songs in their correct places?

  • ITunes keeps starting the song over again

I just got the new version of iTunes (7.0.1) and the songs work fine until I try and add the album art. As soon as I add the album art the song will play for the first 3-5 seconds and then start again about 1-5 times before it continues to play the song. This is really starting to get annoying, can anyone help?

My problem is that ITunes plays my songs but keeps on "pausing" "skipping" on tracks for a couple of secondsa then continues. I thought it was my PC but all the songs work on Windows media player. Any suggestions Ver 7.0.2.16?

  • How do I get the song titles to appear when I burn a playlist from iTunes?

I burned a playlist from iTunes, and the song titles on the burned CD changed to Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. How can I get the song titles to appear as they do in iTunes? Is this really too much to ask from the world's leading music player software?

If you are burning an audio CD, you cannot as audio CDs do not have track names. Nothing to do with Apple.

  • IPhone 4 playing pieces of songs out of order

My iPhone 4 is doing something that I can't even wrap my head around. When I try to add music from iTunes to my iPhone, everything seems to transfer fine. But when I go to play a song on the phone, the song will play with pieces of the song out of order. So for example, when I start the song, it will start playing the music that is 0:30 into the song, keep playing that segment for a minute or so, then play a chunk from the end of the song, then play a bit from the beginning of the song. I've tried multiple songs from multiple artists and multiple sources (songs downloaded from iTunes, ripped from CDs, etc) and I keep getting the same issue. The songs all play fine when I play from iTunes. It's just that when I play from the phone, they get all crazy.
I've updated iTunes and the iPhone, restarted the phone and my computer, tried all of those basic troubleshooting methods. Assuming you even understand the issue I'm trying to describe, does anyone have any suggestions for getting this fixed? I can't even make a guess as to what is causing this.
Thanks for any help you can give.

The same is happening to me, too. It plays 10+ seconds into the song, then it plays the beginning, then it plays back to where the interruption happened, then it plays a section later in the song, then back to the interruption, then when the song ends, it plays another part of the song that was missed.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album.  It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.

Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album.  It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.  This onloy seems to happen when I double-click on the song to play it in itunes.  If I just hit play, this doesnt happen.  As a result, I have several albums now in which the songs are in the wrong order.  Its very frustrating, as this error then transfers over to my ipod every time I sync it.  When I choose the info. for the songs, it has them correctly listed (i.e., it lists the songs as being #1 of 19 on the CD, for example).  But then the song will have placed by Itunes as #5 of 19 for whatever reason.  Itunes does not do this every time, but does it with enough frequency to be maddening.  Any thoughts?

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...
at Dougs Scripts, there is one called iTunes Track CPR that might work
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=itunestrackcpr
or, if you just want a list of de-linked tracks, go to
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/
and find the script called List MIA's, this will create a text file listing all de-linked tracks

  • ITunes keep repeating a song in my playlist.  The repeat icon is no longer on the upper right hand side

iTunes keep repeating a song in my playlist on my iphone (4 I thnk).  The repeat icon is no longer on the upper right hand sideiTunes keep repeating a song in my playlist.  The repeat icon is no longer on the upper right hand side

I looked under file but I couldn't find the "Genius & Playlist" option. I also looked under the other options on the top left side but I couldn't find it there either. And all "Genius suggestions" does for me is show similar songs already purchased in my library. It doesn't show me anything new that I haven't purchased.

  • Itunes keeps downloading the same songs over and over again on a shared library

I have a share library on a NAS box, and until now, little problem. But now, iTunes keeps downloading the same songs etc, when I go to another PC, even though the library is shared between the other PC, is the same.
Plus, iTunes repeatably asks for my Password to log in, even though it is correct.
Share Library on NAS box, mapped drive paths to drive letters.
Keeps re-downloading songs and podcasts I all ready have on the NAS box, if I open iTunes on different computer.
This is new behaviour. Has not happend like this till today.
Keeps asking for my iTunes ID and Password, over and over again, evertime I run iTunes, or my iPod.
    Thanks in advance.

    Adriana,
If your .mac account is set to be type .mac (don't laugh, it can be set to be POP, or IMAP), it functions essentially like an IMAP. As a .mac, the Inbox is actually on the server, and when you display the Inbox, you are displaying everything on the server. Any downloading you observe is purely for purposes of display, according to what selections you have made in Mail Preferences. What you report seems perfectly normal, for a .mac account, and for an IMAP account.
Often an exchange account is also an IMAP account, and thus the behavior would seem normal for that type of account.
Again the Inbox is on the Server, and not on your Mac. Do not confuse this with selecting to Keep copies for Offline viewing -- those copies are refreshed from the server whenever you sign on.
Neither a .mac nor IMAP account folder will contain a MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded file . However, your POP folder should have such a file or two, to control duplicate downloads of messages remaining on the server -- POP was originally designed to remove upon download, but now that many people use more than one computer, it is logical to sometimes leave messages on the server to be download onto other computers.
In the Finder, open Home/Library/Mail and look for a folder named to begin with POP and including the server and/or email address in the name. If there is not a POP folder, then the account has NOT been set up to be something other than POP. If there is a POP folder, it should contain the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded.
    More info, please.

  • When burning a playlist to disc, how do you keep the songs in original order?

When burning a playlist to disc, how do you keep the songs in original order?

If you are burning an audio CD, they will burn in sequential order as in your playlist.
If you are burning an MP3 CD or a data CD, they will burn as individual files, and can be sorted any way you like when you view the CD.  For an MP3 CD, the files will be prepended with a sequence number, so if you sort by filename, they will be in the original order.

  • ITunes is shuffling my songs in Album View without shuffling on

In album view, itunes is shuffling certain songs for no reason - it wasn't doing this a few days ago. I DO NOT have shuffling ticked, and itunes only seems to shuffle songs that are grouped together in the "Unknown Album" section of each artist, all of which have no track number. I do not want to assign track numbers to every song in this group. Strangely, it doesn't shuffle songs in named albums. Please does anyone have an answer to this?
Look at this example below. If I play the first song in the Unkown Album section "The Beginning Is The End Is...", then the next song itunes plays is the first song of the Album "Gish": "I Am One".
However, if I start with the song "Eye", then order goes:
Eye -> The End Is The Beginning Is The End -> [Untitled] -> The Beginning Is The End Is -> "Gish" Album...
    HELP!!!

As soon as I read this message I did a cartoon style 'boggle take' - you know, the eyeballs telescope in and out several times. I had no idea you could delete songs from a smart list. Indeed, when in the name of science I tried to do so on my Mac, I couldn't.
So I can give you no advice on why/what is happening. But leg me suggest this. Make your smart list and then create a new normal list. Drag the music in the smart list into the normal (empty) list. Now delete the music from the normal list and sync that. It will, at least, allow you to edit your play list without deleting songs.

  • How do I turn off Sync without iTunes deleting all the songs on my iPod!

Well that's basically my question. I want to keep all the songs that are already there, but from this point on just add new ones manually. When I unchecked the Sync box it wiped out my iPod. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You need to turn off automatic sync before you delete all your tracks from iTunes. If you don't, then you need to prevent the iPod from synching when you connect:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Command and Option keys on a Mac. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer. Then you can set iTunes to manual synchronization.
Of course, this won't help if your iPod has already had the tracks removed. But you'll know what to do next time.
    Regards.
