Itunes keeps shutting down immediately upon opening
Can anyone help me? I've updated all software and uploaded the latest version of iTunes (Beta iTunes 10.3). It shuts down immediately upon opening. (It has done this with the last version of iTunes as well)
I thought the original problem was the fact iTuneshelper was open so I located and deleted ituneshelper from "system preferences", "accounts" "login items".
Any other recommendations? Appreciate any suggestions.
Tried deleting iTunes again and still getting "This operation cannot be completed because the item "iTunesHelper" is in use.

iTunes keeps shutting down when I open it up. The message says iTunes has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solutions is found.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried something like the above then try opening iTunes in safe mode (press and hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases. You may find that iTunes opens normally now.

What can I do to correct the problem with iPhoto closing immediately without loosing my photos?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful. -
One of my indd files makes inDesign shut down immediately upon opening?!
I cant get into the file to fix the problem as it crashes inDesign during opening. Other indd files open fine and inDesign works as it should. i have the latest version etc
HELPThat, work fromn a backup copy of a previous version if you have one, or you can pay Markzware to try a recovery (Bad InDesign or Quark File Recovery Submission Form ), but it is not cost effective unless you have more than a few hundred dollars of time to recreate the file.
I notice the file was over 20 mb, which is pretty big for a .indd. Does it have a lot of pasted content? If so, placing art instead of pasting would be a good idea. If not, it probably indicates that the file had a lot of useless change information built up over time. You can get rid of that by doing a periodic Save As, and I advise using a new name each time (I add a version suffix) so you have a backup chain in case of disaster. -
TS1717 iTunes shuts down immediately after opening (Windows 7)
I'm having trouble with iTunes shutting down immediately after opening. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and QuickTime, but I'm still having the same problem. Any suggestions? I have a 64 bit version of Windows 7, and the iTunes installer file has "64" in the name, so I think it's a 64 bit version as well.
Do you get an error message when iTunes shuts down? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

Applications on my iMac OS 7.1 keeps shutting down immediately when I try to open.
Help! I tried repair disk in disk utilities and nothing works..Perhaps you could try this to resolve your issue: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
Try booting up to Safe Boot and see if you still have this issue in "safe mode." This will help you determine if the issue is caused by 3rd part sofware, or some other type of OS corruption. -
My iTunes keeps shutting down after i plug in my iPod
My iTunes keeps shutting down after i plug in my iPod. First it just wouldn't open but now it finds my iPod and then shuts down, it closes it's self. can anyone help?
The five R's don't work because I don't have enough time to restore iPod before it shutsdown, and reinstalling iTunes didn't solve it either.

My calendar just shuts down immediately after opening.
Hello, My calendar just shuts down immediately after opening. I reset the ipad and it still isn't working Any ideas? iPad 2
I only kow how to disengae yahoo but maybe the process will help for other email accounts linked to ipad calendar. Just remeber to go to email accounts and shut down any associations with other programs.
Here is what I did in yahoo.mail
Went to My Yahoo
selected quicklinks (on top left of page)
Calendar was not shown , so I selected more yahoo services at bottom of list.
Candar was among many and I selected it.
You then see your calendar with a margin on left that probably shows a checked box of te name of you calendar. Uncheck it.
Also check the subscriptions. You must decide what makes sense for you there.
To be more sure, delete any recent calendar entries in your yahoo calendar or ipad calendar that might have cuased the problem. that's what happened to me. I noticed the problem right after I accepted a ics invitation from some else. I think the ics invitation that I accepteed from my email was the real culprit but who knows. All I know is that all these things combined solved my problem.
Close the My Yahoo
Remeber to check your ipad for any associations and eliminate them and point the ipad calendar to icloud.
Reboot you ipad
Check for results
I hope this helps -
System shuts down immediately upon build
My whole computer shuts down immediately upon trying to build a project. It only happens with one project. I can build other projects just fine. I was able to build this project just fine 5 months ago. I deleted the build folder to save space, but have made no other changes since then, other than transferring the project folder to another hard drive. Now every time I try to build the whole computer immediately shuts down.
My first thought, is somehow an asset went bad, but I have no idea how that could have happened because every thing worked fine five months ago. I can't even determine what causes the crash from the log because it happens immediately. I have tried transferring the project folder to other hard drives, but the same thing occurs. My biggest question is even with a corrupt asset why would the entire system shut down. I would think I would just receive an error message.
Thoughts on correcting the problem or any information as to what could cause the whole system to shut down would be appreciated. Thank you.Jurgen,
Thanks for your reply. You are right, the key was in that file. (Volker also pointed me in that direction). For some reason it had a name for my server that was not in my CFTGCP #10.
WARNING => DpNetCheck: NiHostToAddr(PTC02.PTC) failed (rc=-2)
I do not know where it got that address from. It is close to the correct address but because it was not exactly correct the network access failed. Once I made the change the jobs stayed up.
On to to the next problem....

My itunes keeps shutting down with a windows error everytime i try to convert someting to AAC.
Im having the same issue. It starts up shutsdown and pops up an error has occured message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times and even downloaded the Quicktime and ITunes seperately. Why does iTunes shut down IMMEDIATELY after opening?
I'm running the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7 Home Premium. Immediately upon opening iTunes (5-10 seconds later) it shuts down and I get an error message that says "iTunes has stopped working." That's it. No explanation. The computer is 2 years old and I've never had this problem before. It started last week (when I was running a previous version of iTunes), so today I thought I'd upgrade to the latest iTunes and it would solve the problem. No such luck.
Any help? PLEASE...For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Newly installed adobe reader shuts down immediately after opening
I just installed Adobe Reader (on a Windows 7 computer) but when trying to open it it starts up and shuts down immediately. I have another PDF generator which came with the computer (Stat Nova PDF) which could be interferring with Adobe reader.
With Adobe reader installed neither PDF software works.
Is there a setting to make Adobe the default PDF reader?
I cannot risk uninstalling the original PDF software (Stat Nova PDF), as this is for an urgent job and cannot risk having no functional PDF reader at all.
Thanks for your helpThanks heaps for that Pat,
It seems to have worked.
Just out of curiosity. Why does one have to re-accept the licence agreement when we already accept it during the installation process?
Thank you again for your help -

MacBook Pro keeps shutting down immediately after startup chime
I booted into Windows 7 on my boot camp partition and was about to play Dirt 3 for the 1st time. I was in the options menu of the game and my MacBook Pro just shut down/turned off instantly.
I turned back on, holding in Option so I could boot into Windows again, but the computer just turned off immediately after the startup chime. I turned on again, this time I didn't hold in Option, so I could boot into OS X (my default startup volume) and the same thing happened - MBP shut down immediately after the startup chime. I tried again, same thing. I tried again, and this time it booted fine into OS X, and all seems ok.
Any idea what's going on?Hi. When you were in the recovery drive doing permissions, did you try and run a repair of the boot drive? Did you try single user mode? Try these first and then go back and try to reinstall the operating system. When I say repair boot drive I don't mean permissions. There are both options in disk utilities. When you open disk utilities ,you will see in the left column two drives plus possibly a boot partition that look like an external driv. click on the second drive and in first aid use repair disk. If you still can't boot and it will not let you restore, you may have to do a clean install. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18869?viewlocale=en_US
