Itunes keeps threatening to delete music from my ipod that was bought with an account that no longer exists. How do I keep the music?

My original itunes account was set up with a work email, so when I left the company, I contacted support to have a new user name and transfer the library. Now each time I synch, it is trying to match up to the original purchase from the original account, rather than just with my current list. I can no longer access the first itunes account, because it doesn't exist anymore.

Hey there~ I had a similar experience, when the email I used to set up the account was hacked and subsequently shut down by Hotmail. If you contacted Support to change the name, but not the email address, you will need to do so again.
Also worth noting~ if, at any time, you synced your device to your work computer, you'll need to contact Support to deauthorize it and enable your current one.

Just to clarify: I purchased some of my older music in iTunes with an account that got deleted. I cannot recover or use this old account. So, is there another way to transfer this music to my new iTunes? I'm using a USB thumb drive to transfer the music. Also, music that was purchased with my current account tranfers just fine.

How can I put my music from my ipod to my computer with out losing it all

I just got a new computer and I need to transerfer my music from my ipod to my new computer, but when i tried it almost deleted all my music. I'm not a technological person and I dont have anything to back my ipod up on if I lose all my music. Does anybody know how to do it with the new update??

The ipod is not a backup/storage device.
It simply mirrors the selecte content of the computer to which it is synced. The sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

Delete library from old ipod and start again with whats on another iphone

I'm using my daughter's old computer with itunes.
It has her library on it.
I want to delete the library and sync it with whats on my iphone.
I tried remove program and reinstalling from itunessetup.exe but the old library remained.
How do I get itunes with the songs from my iphone on this computer without having all the songs from my daughter's old library on it as well.

If it's an older ipod, you can physically pull the files from it as though it was another hard drive and then add them to iTunes.
If it's an iPhone/iTouch, you need special software (unable to be discussed here due to TOS - look up "TuneAid" on the web) to get the music off the device and into the library. Without that, you can only overwrite (erase) what is on the iPhone and replace with new music from your library.

So I have an iPod classic 60GB that I got from my brother in law. There are over 3000 songs on it and I'm wanting to know if I can just transfer the DRM free songs to my library. There appears to be 2 accounts that songs on the iPod were purchased with. I would obviously like to have the songs that will play on my computer, but would rather not have to deal with finding each individual song and then deleting them if they won't play. Any suggestions?

iTunes Match will do that for you, turn it on in the Store menu (in iTunes). It's $25 per year.

A few weeks ago I returned from a 6-weeks journey and wanted to synchronize my iPod 4G 32GB with my music on my computer. First I couldn't download the new update. iTunes just showed me that the download broke up. After a while I could download it, but since I updated my iPod I can't find any music on the device anymore. The device's info showes me that the space on the harddisk is used.. But there are no music titles to find.

What is wrong with the player, exactly? Does it start up? If it can start up and it is recognised on the PC, then you can copy the files back to the PC for back-up.

Upgrading to iTunes+ music that was dled with another account?

Before I had a credit card, I used my mom's account to purchase music. I then authorized my computer to play this music. Is there any way to upgrade this music to iTunes Plus? It says the album is available in +, but it doesn't give me the option to upgrade it. Thanks.

The funny thing now is that I play music on my Iphone and I cannot see it or stop it. I have done a syncronzing yesterday and then nothing happened and later there they were all the cds. but now they are not seen on the screen and I just dont understan how the system works. After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...

At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
Then... Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...

Then Apply. For 10.5/10.6 Network, highlight Interface>Advanced button>DNS tab>little + icon.
DNS Servers are a bit like Phone books where you look up a name and it gives you the phone number, in our case, you put in apple.com and it comes back with 17.149.160.49 behind the scenes.
These Servers have been patched to guard against DNS poisoning, and are faster/more reliable than most ISP's DNS Servers.
For 10.5/10.6 Network, highlight Interface>Advanced button>DNS tab>little + icon.
