ITunes launches every time I plug into the audio jack...

How do I stop this from happening? About 80% of the time when I plug in my stereo cable or headphones, iTunes just launches and starts playing. Most of the time it won't stop until I remove the audio cable.
It started when Snow Leopard first came out, and I figured they'd fix it with each subsequent software update. Wrong.
How do I just get it to STOP, besides throwing iTunes in the trash (where iTunes belongs, in my opinion, anyway). Throwing it away is not an option though, because I need iTunes to sync my mobile devices .
Would anyone know how to stop iTunes from launching whenever it **** well pleases?

Would love to see a solution for that. It is a really annoying bug.

  • Firefox seems to freeze after a few moment when I switch whatever I have plugged into the audio jack. Any suggestions on a fix for this?

Whenever I pull out my speaker/headphones out of its jack to put in my speaker/headphones Monzilla freezes. Any idea on what it could be?
It completely freezes, and does not unfreeze if I wait it out. I have to close it with task manager which then tells me the program is not responsive. I shut it down, and Firefox does not act like it had a crash or anything of the sort.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe Mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

    Hi kelori617,
If you are having issues organizing the Apps on your iPhone via iTunes, you may want to double-check the steps in the following article and make sure you are syncing any changes to your device:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Sync and organize iOS apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12115
iTunes 11 for Windows: Sync and organize iOS apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12315
If all of the steps are correct and the changes still aren't being retained when you restart your iPhone, you may want to make sure your data is backed up, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings, restore your data from the backup, then test to see if you can organize your apps via iTunes:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

as62467 We appreciate your G3 question! Let's see how we can help. What you are able to adjust is the USB connection mode by going to the home screen and selecting'recent apps' (in the touch keys bar), settings, storage, the menu (the 3 tiny dots) and tap usb pc connection. If you do not want the software to try and install choose either the internet connection or camera option. Let us know if this helps.

    Gary,
discussions may sometimes be slow for an hour or so (at which point the opening page of discussions will eventually apologize for the inconvenience, back on line soon...) but your description looks like a cache problem.
Try OnyX freeware to do some cleanup and see if that helps.

  • Do I have to leave my phone plugged into the test jack???

I don't understand how this works. The test jacks are in my living room coat closet, so do I have to leave my phone plugged into those? Or do I plug them into one of the jacks on the back of my modem?? If I have to leave the phone in the closet that is super inconvienent since the cords are barely long enough. HELP!!

It seems that what you are calling "test jacks" are the (usually) two RJ-11 jacks inside the ONT.  "RJ-11" is the standard 4-wire phone jack, and "ONT" means "Optical Network Terminal" which is where the Verizon fiber is connected to your networks and devices.  These jacks are not for testing but are used to connect telephone devices and networks to the fiber optical network.
If you do not have other locations where RJ-11 jacks exist then the only location that will give telephone service at present is at the ONT.  The jacks in the rear of the router are used for Internet connections only, and are referred to as "RJ-45."  They have nothing to do with your telephone service.  Note that an RJ-11 plug will actually fit and connect using an RJ-45 socket, but the reverse is not possible.
You have at least two options.  You can run cables from the ONT to selected locations and fit RJ-11 jacks.  This usually means running concealed cables and may take a bit of doing.  This can be done by a regular user, but usually involved some specialized techniques and tools.
Alternatively you can connect a wireless base station in the closet at the ONT, and then use the "slave" units for regular service.  Let us know if this sounds like a good idea or if you have additional questions.

  • IPhoto launches every time i plug my iPad into my iMac

Every time I plug my ipad into my imac to sync it launches iphoto. Not sure why this continues to happen. Anyone have any ideas that can help me??

No promises but a system Reset cures many ills and takes but a minute to perform:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A Reset does NOT delete apps, photos, movies, music or any other data. A Reset does NOT delete any settings for email, network access, etc.
Also, you might wish to download the 4.2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 170.

Does your iTunes see your nano?
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes
If so, then follow through this:
    How to reset iPod
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
If not, do one or more of the following
    Restart your computer
Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes [Windows XP] [Windows Vista & 7]
Reset iPod (will NOT delete everything)
Go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista & 7) and see if it shows
    Restore iPod (WILL delete everything)
Make sure iTunes and iOS firmware is up to date.
    Hope all this helps.

  • IPhone 3G resets every time when plugged into computer through a hub

Every time I plug my iPhone 3G into my computer through my powered USB hub, it resets. Bear in mind, I have been using this hub to charge my phone with for over a year without problem. Since the recent software update, I have seen this issue as well as a dramatic decrease in overall battery life and responsiveness. The biggest issue here, however, is the constant resetting.
If kept plugged in, the phone will remain on the apple logo until I disconnect it. Give it a minute, and it is back up, but as soon as I need to charge it or sync it, it resets again.

    Greetings,
You are going to get your best charge using the charger that came with the phone, and the next best solution is to use a USB port directly on your computer, as long as it is USB 2.0. If you lost the original charger, buy a new one - they are cheap. It sounds like your USB hub may be out of sorts, as I have seen iPhones reboot plugging them in to a faulty hub, where it seems to work for most things but not all. Sometimes there isn't enough power to go around - the power source for the hub may be on the blink.
The recent software update won't cause your phone to discharge faster - you have a rogue app, or the phone is way out of sync with the meter. You could have a third party app that worked well before the update, but it doesn't now - that's the way it is with some third party apps, check for an update for your apps. Third party apps are the most likely to cause issues - be very careful with 3rd party apps. If one seems to be acting odd, check for an update.
That's what the update was all about, making the meter and battery work more accurately with each other, but you may need to calibrate it. I have had several people, locally do this and it has worked perfectly. You should recalibrate every couple of months. I do mine every two months.
    Cheers,
    M.

  • Iphone 4 unresponsive and flashes apple logo but itunes wont recognise it . when plugged into the mains it turns onto recovery mode and asks to be plugged into itunes, when i unplug it from the mains it turns straight off again

please help! my iphone randomly went unresponsive, when plugged into itunes it flashes apple logo and itunes doesnt recognise it and when plugged into the mains its in recovery mode, asks to be connected to itunes, but immediately turns off when unplugged from mains

You could try to do a hard reset, sometimes resetting the phone helps. Hold down the sleep/wake button on the top and the home button until you see the apple logo, this make take a minute or two but this might help.

  • Have an iPhone 3GS, and it will not restore.  It says (-1) error and won't restore.  I updated to iOS 5.0.1, and have the latest version of iTunes.  Every time I plugged my phone in last week it would crash and I would have to connect it to iTunes.  Help!

Last week I updated my iTunes, updated to iOS 5.0 and ever since I did this my phone has been going nuts.  Any time I plug it into a charger I get a screen that tells me I need to connect to iTunes.  I have had to restore it multiple times in order for it to work.
I've tried doing resets, restoring to factory-everything that I can find online to do.  I've spoken with ATT tech support and done everything they've said to do regarding my greyed out wifi, my phone only working on 3G, and other issues.
The first iPhone 3GS I got had a defective camera, so ATT replaced it free of charge.  I've had this one for a year, and quite frankly cannot afford a new one.
If anyone knows anything I can do to fix it, I would really appreciate it.

11.1 is now the most recent  iTunes. Downloading it may take a bit since everyone got hit today with the need to update their iTunes on the very same day the iOS update came out and you have to update iTunes to update the iOS.
YOu should still be able to charge it without updating iTunes.

  • My iTunes crashes every time I plug in my iPod!

I have two rather older Apple products A 160gB classic ipod and a MacBook with OS X 10.5.8. Lately, everytime I plug my iPod in my itunes crashes while attempting to sync. The computer recognizes the iPod ad I am able to safely eject it but I can't get anything updated! I then have to force quit Itunes. Thoughts!

To be of any further assistance,
    What is your iTunes version?
What is the iPod firmware number as shown in the iTunes summary screen?
Have you tried switching to other USB ports?,(don't use any USB Husb or the USB port on the Keyboard.)
    Have a nice day!

  • After recently downgrading back to iOS 6.1.4 on my iPhone 5, I am trying to get back my apps but every time I go into the App Store it only shows the option "Open" for the apps that I had previously. The apps don't appear in my home screen. HELP

After recently downgrading from iOS 7 back to iOS 6.1.4 on my iPhone whenever I go into the App Store to redownload my apps it only gives me the option "open" but I don't have the apps, therefore I don't HAve the app to open. Please help

How can u downgrade. Apple doesn't allow that. Unless your iPhone 5 is jail broken.  iOS 7 isn't even out yet. There Is no way u can get iOS 7 unless it was beta. And if so beta is having some issues.

  • I just re-installed iTunes and every time I plug my iPhone in, the software license agreement comes up and I have to click accept to get to iTunes. Is this something new, or is it a glitch?

I am using an iPhone 5 and an iPad 2 on a Dell XPS 8200 running Windows 7 Professional.

You can use this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212  to restore the device, but  please note that everything that hasn't been backed up without a code (purchases excluded) will be lost.
    Good luck
