ITunes Libraries on two computers with one iPhone 3G 16GB White

My Dad wants to put music from my macbook and from my mum's imac on his iphone. what is the best way to do this without mixing the two libraries, as I know you cannot sync the iphone with two computers?

OK - so I'm off-piste a little here (since I don't have two phones to try it with) - but can't you just tick "Manually manage music and videos" or something on the Summary tab within iTunes when you plug in your iPhone and then drag-drop music to it/them? I know that it won't sync - but I'm pretty sure that you can do want you want.
Take a look at this discussion - I believe iPhones work in the same way: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7504192&#7504192

  • Using two computers with one IPhone

I have two offices, and two office computers. I'd like to sync all the Outlook data on each computer with my IPhone. Also, is there any way to have the music list in ITunes in one computer sync through the IPhone to the second computer?

On the Outlook data, your best bet is to use something like Google Sync. I have three computers (one work, one home desktop, one home netbook) all synced up with my iPhone using Google. And it's free.

  • Can I use Logic Pro 9.1.6 on two computers with one licens

I have download and install Logic Pro 9.1.6 on my MacBookPro 13". I record on location with my MacBook an wil edit and arrange the music on my iMac at home. Can I use Logic Pro 9.1.6 on two computers with one licens. I'm the owner of both computers. If it can where can I find the program on my MacBook? and how to install and register?

Hi, is  the iMac also 10.6.8? I had an iMac die when 10.6.8 was installed, it worked at first but after some You Tube flash videos the screen just locked and no mouse clicking anywhere did anything. It turned out that most older iMacs [ mine was from august 2007] have a graghics chipset that can't handle Snow Leopard, there were [are?] 77 pages on this "locked screen"topic in the Snow Leopard forum. I checked out a web site that tells you how much your mac is worth by filling in the sereal number-mine was worth only $168, I may give it to a friend for his children to play with, although that seems unholy. I doubt anyone woud buy it,the problem is now so well known that even Apple certified resellars here in the Netherlands refuse to repair them, they claim Apple will revoke their certification if they replace the faulty Graphics unit,it is also VERY hard to get to that unit in an iMac, everything is so tightly packed inside.
If your iMac is running Mountain Lion[10.8.0] you may have to change the app store preference to accept apps from all sites, normally ML will only allow app store apps to be downloaded.

  • Two computers with one Creative Cloud Account?

Is it possible to use two computers with the same Creative Cloud account at the same time?

-Windows or Mac does not matter... 2 on the same operating system, or 1 on each

  • Different iTunes libraries on two computers question

Problem: I bought the new iPod, with video cap.
I do have a G5 desktop computer with a music library. Last week I travelled to the States and bought some music in the iTunes store. That music downloaded on my laptop.
The music from my laptop is currently on the ipod.
Is there a way to add the music from my desk top computer to the ipod without erasing the music already on it.
I find it a bit disgusting that it is such a pain to not be able to just drag and drop between ipod libraries and computer ones...
In short: I want all my music from two computers on the ipod... What is th ebest way to go?

When the iPod is connected to your PowerBook, set it to manage music manually. When this is done, you can copy music from multiple computers onto the iPod without losing anything previously put onto it.

I have two computers (1 PC and 1 iMac) and one iphone, the PC and the iphone are synchronized but I cannot copy or sync the contents to the iMac. How can I copy the contents? Can I connect the PC to the iMac so that I can use the PC as a hard-disk? Will that affect the system to work smoothly?
    Thanks

  • Combining two iTunes libraries from two computers onto a third

Hi there -- I haven't seen anything in the archives that is this exact situation, but if you know where it is in there, please point me in the right direction!
I have two separate collections of iTunes music on two different older Macs. I want to merge these collections into one that will now live on a newer MacBook Pro with iTunes 11.1.5. I can figure out how to get one or the other imported onto the MacBook but not both together as one merged collection. I'm getting confused about how to get all the media and the library files transferred. Help!
Can anyone walk me through the steps of what I need to do this? It must be possible, right??
    Many thanks in advance.

There isn't really a way to ideally merge them.  Methods such as the one linked in an earlier post have you make sure your media are more or less in one or two locations by using the organize/consolidate step for each library, then adding media files from the secondary library to the primary one as new files.  If you have a lot of content overlap you will end up with duplicates.
So, use consolidate/organize to make sure you have each iTunes library's content intact in one place on each computer.  You don't need or want to consolidate to another drive or computer, just make each one internally complete.  Choose a library to export intact.  Copy the entire iTunes folder to the other computer.  If the third/new computer has no iTunes content simply overwrite the iTunes folder there.  If it has content then you'll have to do additional steps but I won't bother with those yet.  Start iTunes in the new home and make sure the primary library is working (it should look identical to the original one).  Now you can copy the media folder alone from the other computer.  Copy it onto the Automatically Add To itunes folder on the new computer.  It will add the files as new tracks.  If you want to do some hand-weeding of particular duplicate albums you can also be more selective in what you add to the second library.
It is possible to export playlists from the secondary library and then import them into the new library.  note that a playlist is simply a text listing of which files are in the list and the files will have to be on the new computer in the identical locations (the point of consolidating).

  • Using two computers with one Extigy sound c

    Hello:
This is my first post; am wondering if there is a way to plug the Extigy USB input into two computers at the same time, perhaps with a USB sharing device? Has anyone ever tried this? Thanks. Glad to be part of the new community group.

Is it possible to stream audio from two computers (one Mac and one Windows) to a single Airport Express?
Yes, but only one at a time.
Does one take precedence over the other?
No, you would need to determine which computer was streaming music at any given time.

  • Synchronisation two computers with one ipod?!

    Hi @All!
I have two computers (mac and win) and want my itunes songs on both machines. Actually the ipod works with the win computer. How can I get the songs from the ipod to the mac? How can I transfer/sync these songs over the ipod on both systems.
Thanks for any reply and hints.

Probably the easiest way to use an iPod on both Mac and Windows computers is to format the iPod (using iPod Updater) using the PC. This will force your iPod to use the Windows file system (FAT32) which both the Mac and PC can read from and write to without the help of additional software. Of course then all your software updates for the iPod will have to be done on Windows.
If you need to use a Mac (HFS+) formatted iPod on a Windows PC, you'll need to install some 3rd party software such as XPlay 2.0 (which you can get from MediaFour Software). This will enable your Windows PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod.
However, please be aware that Apple does not officially support cross platform use.

  • Sync two computers with one documents folder?

This is a question re: a imac and a powerbook.
I am looking for a product that can update the most recently edited files in my documents folder on both computers automatically...
Often, I use the laptop remotely and need updates to the desk top and vise versa so that the folder being duplicated is a mirror on each machine...
Is this a possibility with some product currently on the market, two computers one set of folders?
Optimally I would like it to happen automaticall but a wired version would be OK too...
When machines are tethered the more recent folders update on either machine.

    Hi Elin,
Here's a Dropbox tutorial which keeps two Macs synced: http://thenextweb.com/apps/2011/09/21/how-to-use-dropbox-to-sync-your-documents- folder-between-macs-for-free/
What's not clear is if it will allow you to disconnect the two Macs and then sync after reconnecting them.
iCloud is something else to consider.

  • Can Quicktime Pro be used on two computers with one registration code?

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend who uses Windows. If you buy Quicktime Pro, can you put it on two computers? Because she might buy a new computer soon and she wants to know if she would have to buy it twice or not. Thanks
.....Sorry if this has an obvious answer or if it's been asked before, but I've searched and couldn't find anything

While the license is only good on one computer at a time you can delete the Quicktime preferences file on the first (removing the registraion on that machine) and install on a second machine. Of course, that is only if you are installing the same version of QT on the machines. The key will be good for any updates of a given version number but will not work with any subsequent whole version number release.

  • I bought a 5th Gen Touch. I use iTunes 12 on two computers. One computer allows me to drag and drop. The other does not.The one that allows it has problems. Any idea as to why I can drag and drop on one and not the other. Both are authorized.

I bought a 5th Gen Touch. I use iTunes 12 on my two computers. I first connected the Touch to my desktop and it allows me to drag and drop mp3 files from my old Classic, which is backed up to a directory. Unfortunately, that computer has gone down before I got a chance to fill the Touch. I have the files on another computer but when I connect the Touch to it, it doesn't allow me to drag and drop the files. I have iCloud set on both systems and I have manual management check marked. I'm not understanding why it allows drag and drop on one PC and not the other when they are both set the same way. My question? What do I need to do to be able to drag and drop in iTunes 12? I didn't do anything special on the computer that allows it so I am at a loss.
    Thank you!

Oh, also want to add that the PC I'm currently using is:
Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
    My other PC was:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    My MacBook is:
Max OSX 10.5.something (the last update available for it. .8 maybe? haha)
Not sure if this stuff is important, but I thought I'd add it.

  • Trying to share iTunes libraries between two users on one iMac

Ok, so I have two users on my iMac, but I want to share iTunes libraries between the two (so that both have the same music, movies, apps...), but for some reason I can't! So first I tried turning on iTunes while holding option key so that I can open my Library from my user that i'm trying to grab the music and everything else from. But for some reason it said that I didn't have the permissions to (which both ARE admin). So then I went to the Preferences on iTunes and tried to change the directories from where to grab the media from, but it wouldn't let me access my other users music folder, it siad again that I didn't have permissions for this. I'm really fed up, please help me.

Chris, thanks for the reply.  Are you telling me that I should move the iTunes folder itself, and not merely the iTunes Media folder, as instructed by the KB article?  At this point, I'd be willing to try just about anything, but the KB article specifically states:
Important: Do not move the iTunes folder, the iTunes Library file or the iTunes Library.xml file.
As I stated above, I did exactly what the KB article said to, which is to move the iTunes Media folder (called iTunes Music on my iMac, since the library has been around since pre-iTunes 8 or so) to /Users/Shared, and then go into iTunes Prefs for each user, and under the advanced tab, choose the location of the library for each user.  I know that this method does NOT share iTunes library (.itl or .xml, or the other associated files), and doing what you suggest would, but I'm curious if that would cause any problems.
And yes, like I said in the OP, I did check/change all file permissions on that folder appropriately.
Thanks again for the help!  Please let me know if I'm reading your suggestion right!

  • Can I run Muse on two computers with one subscription?

I have a Muse subscription on my desktop but occasionally need to acces it with my lap top. Is it possible to use both machines with one subscription?

    Alwheaton,
You can use the following links to download the latest version of Adobe Muse on  your Laptop/Desktop :
    Windows : http://www.adobe.com/go/muse_latest_win
    Mac : http://www.adobe.com/go/muse_latest_mac
And when it asks you to use it as trial version or a Subscription, just select Subscription and use your Adobe Id and Password (using which you purchased the subscription) when asked.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sachin
