ITunes library conflict: How delete Macbook library

Hi
On my Macbook I have an identical copy of the library I have on my Mac Pro. I did this so that I could bring my music on a long trip I undertook.
Now that I am back home I wish to have only the library on the Mac Pro, which I will stream to the Macbook on my home network using Home Sharing.
The reason I wish to do this is that Remote.app on my iPhone appears to be unable to connect to two identical libraries on my computers (it keeps asking me to authenticate). Plus there really is no need to have a copy on the Macbook given that I can stream.
So how can I delete all traces on the Macbook of the library copy (as opposed to just marking all songs and then deleting them)?
Thanks very much
/p

Why not just take your copy of the iTunes folder from your old computer's backup and move it to the new computer?

  • How do I keep my Itunes 10.5 from deleting my music library? E

Every time I shut down my macbook pro, and start itunes up again, my music is all gone but the files are still in the finder folder. It's a hassle to create a new itunes library and having to make my playlists all over again every time. Ever since I upgraded my computer software with the software update, I been having problems. First, the mp3 files in the finder folder have been missing the artwork. But I managed to fix that and now the mp3 files in the finder folder are back again. Now my itunes has me worried. I deleted itunes and tried downloading the software all over again, to see if that would work, but it didn't. This is the 3rd time I'm having to create my itunes library all over again. I own a ipod touch 4g and I need itunes 10.5. The touch won't work on anything older than that. As of now, I redownloaded itunes all over again. Itunes 10.5.1 is what I have now, but i'm still worried it will delete my itunes library all over again. I don't want to keep having this same problem every **** time. I want my itunes library to stay in my itunes every time i open it up. Does anybody know what i can do to prevent this please? I tried everything, and I even downloaded a antivirus for mac. And I don't have a virus on my computer. Which is a relief. Please help. I own a macbook pro. What can I do to stop itunes from deleting my library over and over again? Thanks!            -Samantha

My books are no longer in the iTunes library on my MacBook Pro. They are not in my iBooks, either. I had over 200 books in my iTunes library, all synced to my iPad 2. I deleted them from the iPad as I read them, knowing I still had them in iTunes. Then I updated to iOS 7. I still have the books I haven't deleted from my iPad, but all the other ones are nowhere to be found. No books in iTunes, no books in iBooks. Where are they? Also, going forward, if I want to add more books to my iPad, especially PDFs that are not available for purchase from the iBooks store, how do I do that? Help!

let's try working through this document. (you can skip the reinstall itunes step.)

You don't need to delete anything from your phone or you old computer.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer or backup to /Music/ on new computer.
If you cannot use the old computer or don't have a backup...
-> Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Then immediately make a backup of your new computer.
Get an external drive and plug it in and use -> Time Machine

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • How do I delete itunes library and move library from old windows machine to

My daughter bought a new macbook and would like to move her itunes library from the windows machine to the mac. I copied it to the mac and moved the existing itunes folder to the trash. By the way, she got 3 free downloads from Apple and they were in the library I moved to the trash bin. I then moved the backup folder to the location of the itunes folder I had deleted. When I open itunes, it sees the 3 songs in the deleted folder. How do I get itunes to recognoze the new itunes folder?

Thank you. As I understand it, if the original iTunes folder had never been populated, we would have been able to move the library exported from Windows into iTunes and preserve the playlists. Because my daughter downloaded 3 songs she does not even like, we have no way of preserving playlists? There must be some way to remove all connections to the first library. Is it possible remove the iTunes application and then either re-install it from the original disks or else download it. I know you can download iTunes for Windows, not sure if it is there for Macs. My guess is that if she starts itunes from scratch, there would be no references to the intial DB and we could then move in the folder from Windows without a problem.

  • How do you delete duplicate songs from your iPhone that do not show up in your iTunes library?

everytime i purchase songs on itunes and sync them to my iphone 4, the songs downloads twice. one as the actual song, and the second one doesnt do anything. when you click on it, it just skips to the next song and doesnt play anything. also this second song has this cirlce dot thing next to it when i am scrolling through my songs in my music...so how do i get rid of this second download? its really annoying to have and it wont let me delete it off my phone. alsoooo since it doesnt show up in my itunes library, i cant delte it off there either! HELP PLEASE

On the springboard, locate the app you want to delete. For this example, I’ll use WeatherBug.
Tap and hold down the icon of the application you want to delete. After a few seconds your screen will start to “wiggle” and an X will appear next to each of the apps you’ve installed via the App Store.
Tap the X next to the icon of the app you want to remove. When prompted, selectDelete.
    And now it’s gone.
If the application is listed in your iTunes Applications as well, you’ll want to remove it from there – or else it will re-install the next time you sync. Alternately you can keep the app in your iTunes Applications, and set iTunes not to sync all applications, just the ones you want to keep. See the Applications tab of your device the next time it’s connected in iTunes for syncing options.

  • How to delete multiple old ITUNES LIBRARY files safely ?

I'd like to clean up my Itunes LIBRARY files, but don't know what's safe to do and not to do. (I have Itunes 8.1 / OSX10.4.11)
    MY QUESTION IS TWOFOLD :
    (1) how do I create a new Itunes library file now with today's date; and
    (2) how do I delete multiple (old) Itunes library files, without risking the loss of what I've got ?
This all stems from exploring Itunes as a result of a problem I had today... when trying to import mp3's from my terrabyte drive, after about 150 successful mp3 track imports, Itunes froze and everything else on my MAC froze as well (constant spinning colored wheel). After many failed attempts to force quit Itunes, I turned off my MBPro. On restarting, Itunes tooks ages to "import" files. Eventually Itunes opened but with only half of my original tunes (1500+ songs 8.11GB) and had nothing from today's import.
I found a post suggesting to hold down OPTION while starting Itunes. Then I selected a file from my hard drive > me > music > Itunes > "Itune library" with the most recent date and shezam, Itunes once again has all my songs, as before. Nothing I imported from the terrabyte drive today appears however, but no matter.
In my "Itunes" file there appear MULTIPLE Itunes libraries ! such as Itunes library, Itunes Library (damaged), and as well a folder called "Previous Itunes Libraries" which itself contains multiple Itunes Library files and multiple "previous Itunes Library files" with dates back to 2007. These I want to clean up and delete .... should I ? ... Can I ?
I really could use some words of wisdom from the wise ! Thanks in advance

Whenever you install a new version of iTunes and run it teh first time, iTunes will create a backup of the current iTunes library file and copy it into \Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes libraries, then update the iTunes library file in \Music\iTunes\ for the current version of iTunes.

Currently, iMatch is turned off on my computer, as I do not want to upload any more songs. If I turn it on, will it upload all songs that are currently in my library? Is there another way that deleting them one by one?
You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer. The best way to accomplish what you want to do is to create a new, empty library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key (Shift on Windows) and choosing "new library." Do not let iTunes scan for new content, but do enable iTunes Match on the empty library. Once the scan is finished you may delete tracks from the cloud. When you are done switch back to the main iTunes library.

Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

  • How do I permanently delete music from iTunes library and iPhone?

I had some old music I didn't like anymore so I went to delete it but it still shows up in my iTunes library and my phone. I plug in my phone to my laptop and in iTunes, all of the apparently deleted songs are gray text instead of black and they all have a gray, dotted circle next to it and this is really bothering me because all I see is clutter. Same goes for my phone. When "Show All Music" is turned off, I don't see any of the deleted songs which is what I want but when it's turned on, they come back with the iCloud symbol next to it and I don't like that at all. I want ALL of my songs to be PERMANENTLY DELETED meaning that if "Show All Music" is turned on or off, I don't want to see the music in my phone or in my iTunes library.

    Hi Jessica,
I found an article how you could do that on iTunes: iTunes Store: How to delete songs from iCloud - Apple Support and another blog post on this issue: http://ios.wonderhowto.com/how-to/delete-phantom-icloud-songs-your-iphone-015457 5/
    Give it a try.

  • How to delete video from iTunes library

Hello, I've only had my ipod for a few weeks now. I've finaly figured out how to rip dvds/encode them, etc. During this trial and error period I was putting all kinds of junk in my itunes library.
My question is how to remove videos from my itunes library.
    ..one more question.
I've been using a dvd ripper and video converter made by Xilisoft. After I import the movie from my pc to itunes video library and ipod, I've noticed that the audio doesn't match up with the video. Its like watching a poorly dubbed kung fu movie. Has anybody used Xilisoft software and had the same problems? If so, what did you do to recify the problem?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    self-built   Windows XP Pro

OK, I finally figured it out. I still don't have the clear option available. I had to double click on video, highlight, then press delete.
I'm curious why I don't have a clear option like I do in library.
Oh well, at least I can delete old files from my itunes now.
    Thanks for the quick responses.
