ITunes Library cutting off songs

I posted this in another topic, but I'm not sure if it belongs here or there...
All of a sudden, my itunes library is blending songs when I play them in order. When each song has 4 seconds left, the next song on the list starts playing, as if a DJ's mixing them. It's annoying, because it cuts off the end of songs, and I don't know how it will affect the burning of CDs.
Anyone know why it's suddenly doing this, and how I can make it stop?

It looks as if you have Crossfade playback: switched on.
You can find this setting in Preferences>Playback.
hope this helps.

  • My iTunes randomly cuts off songs at the end. I've tried to create a new library and reimport my old library, but to no avail. Can anyone help? :)?

Hi, I am using a MacBook Pro, and downloaded the new iTunes update. I have OS X Lion 10.7.4. It all of sudden is randomly cutting off some songs before the very end of the song. I've tried to read past posts and create new libraries and re-import the old one, but it doesn't seem to help. It is not all of my purchased songs, nor is it all of my downloaded from CD songs, it's just a particularly random set of songs (I haven't checked them all, but it happens every 5 songs or so when I play the whole library on shuffle). This never happened to me before with other versions of iTunes, and when I called the support line the guy says he has never heard of this problem before... !
I have 3000 songs, so I don't want to manually bring each one in again. I am also not super technologically brilliant, so if you have had this problem too and have a simple answer, please help !!!

I have a similar problem with Itunes - the funny thing is it only does it on my Mac and not my PC running Windows 7 - seems strange the Apple software runs better on a Windows computer.  There are other posts about this here on the forums that have been running for two years with no solution - and I was just about to buy a new Ipod - oh well.

  • ITunes 7 Cutting Off Songs

I'm sorry if there is a similar topic already existing, but it seems that all of the songs in my library (at least the ones that I've tested) are being cut off well before they are finished since I installed the new iTunes 7 (and the new Quicktime). Most songs seem to cut out at the 4 minute mark, a major problem with my songs that are 10 minutes or more. Even songs that are around 4 minutes cut off early; "Billie Jean" cut out at 3:10 even though the song is supposed to go 4:54.
Some of the other threads have suggested recoding the songs, but when I attempt to do that, it only codes the shortened version. So, when I try to convert my 25 minute song, the converted version only includes that 4 minute segment.
Has anyone had similar problems and been able to come up with solutions?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

None of those settings have been changed.  The crossfade is not checked.  Moreover, the amount cut off on different songs varies (whereas I understand that crossfade would affect all song in the same way).
I am not sure what you mean by song - options.  I did not change anything.

  • ITunes Match cut off songs & not syncing!!!

    Hello all.
I recently purchased iTunes Match for the very first time back in February around the 19th of 2014.
Initially, all of the songs in my library seemed to have synced in the cloud and everything was working great; until I tried playing my music.
The song I had chosen, played roughly in length for 30-40 seconds and then audio output completely ceased; all while the music progress bar and seconds continued to run. I thought maybe it was an issue with my wifi as my internet at home is not the best, at which point I decided to try my carrier's LTE network connection-the problem still occurred.
So I took the forums and upon doing so, noticed I wasn't the only one experiencing this problem. I have read most if not all of the suggestions offered and the problem still persists.
Yes, I have and have had the latest version of iTunes prior to purchasing iTunes Match.
Yes, my phones firmware is up to date as well.
Yes, I did a complete factory reset and setup(as new) on my iPhone 5.
Yes, I turned on and off iTunes Match within the iTunes Store.
Yes, I selected update iTunes Match.
And even after all of that, my songs will not even show up within my music library on my iPhone now; unless im on wifi....?! lol smh!
At this point im assuming the problem is due to Apple's negligence and complete and utter lack of care for the service it offers to its customers.
As with all Apple products and services, the intention behind its use, is simply the ease and almost seamless integration of user experience and technology; but quite frankly it LACKS just that!!!
This has been the most annoying issue to deal with so far as an Apple customer, as really I love my music and would like to access it at any point at the "touch of button."
If this issue isn't resolved SOON-Apple, consider this guy opting out of the service and quite possibly losing me as a customer all together....smdh!
Does anyone have any other suggestions for these problems or know of any new developments in the resolution of these issues?
    Thanks in advance! :-)

"At this point im assuming the problem is due to Apple's negligence and complete and utter lack of care for the service it offers to its customers"
I feel the same way. How many billions in profit did they make again? Once you hit that bracket I suppose customer satisfaction doesn't matter, only numbers. Good on you Apple.

  • Itunes 10.6.3 cuts off songs

I re-installed my Music according to Apple's instructions, but that didn't resolve the problem. Some songs are getting cut off at around the 3:00 mark, and when they do, iTunes doesn't proceed to the next song. I'm operating Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 on a brand new iMac and have never had this problem before. Has Apple fixed this, and if not, what is the fix?

Not sure if this is what you did or not but it worked for me.   I am running iTunes 10.6.3.25.  I deleted the cut off songs from both my ipod and iTunes on my computer (choosing to move them to the trash bin and eliminate completely).  Afterwards, I re-downloaded them from the cloud by accessing my previously purchased items in the iTunes store. For what it's worth, I had to go through this process twice before it actually worked.

  • Ipod cutting off songs. itunes plays songs just fine. not using "match."

ipod cutting off songs. itunes plays songs just fine. not using "match."
    reformatted ipod, resynced, same problem.
    help!

I have also had the same problem...
The songs appear to be random, and when I plug my iPod into the computer it is fixed. Sure enough, a monthish later, it happens again.
When my songs get cut off, they are stopped exactly half-way through. Apparently, the iPod thinks that is how long they are, because it plays the time that it shows (the total time only goes to helf of what it normally is).
This does not seem to be a matter of old software, as I am always up-to-date on iPod software, and this has been happening to me with version 1.4.1
I have not Restored my iPod, but apparently that will not help (according to the other posts).
I hope somebody can answer this (although I've posted it twice before with no luck, so...)

  • My iPod Touch (iOS 6.1.3) keeps cutting off songs before they finish.

My iPod keeps cutting off songs before they finish. There doesn't seem to be a pattern - it only happens to some songs. It also doesn't cut them all off with the same amount of time remaining. The songs work perfectly when I play them back on iTunes on my laptop.
I've tried removing and reloading all the music as well as restoring my iPod to its factory settings.
Please help... it's driving me mad!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Music player cuts off songs prematurely

I have an iPhone 4S running 7.0.3. Ever since upgrading from 6.x to 7.x, the music player will cut off songs prematurely (approx 45-60 seconds too soon). I've reset the phone, re-sync'd the music, etc. It happens on 1/4-1/3 of my music, and I'm at a loss as to what to do.
    Any suggestions?

I could be wrong but isn't there a stop at property on the songs? I'm not in front of my itunes right now to check. I seem to remember that but apple could have taken that property away.
As far as os7, the ipod app is extremely buggy! It crashes on me at least 4 times a day. Sometimes songs just stop for no reason. It also gets out of sync, when I unlock my phone there are times its 5 minutes behind where the song actually is.

If you have a credit card on file on top of your gift card then it is asking you to confirm the security code for the card, which for a Visa or MasterCard is 3 digits located on the back, or AMEX has 4 digits on the front.  This happens just to ensure that you are the account holder, and would happen from time to time whether it was a free or paid app, even if you have a credit through your gift card.  This doesn't mean that your credit card will be charged.

  • My itunes library has more songs than my ipod will hold.

My itunes library has more songs than my ipod will hold. What is the best way for me to choose what actually goes on the ipod?

Or, when you are synching choose the songs you want on the IPod by checking them in the library, then tell it to only synch checked items.
To be honest, the 'smart playlist' is probably a simpler way though. Go to playlists, click 'create new smart playlist' and choose your parameters from there. As you add new music to the library the playlist will update itself.

  • IS IT IMPOSSIBLE? My iTunes library says 4149 songs, my iPhone says 4148 songs, and my iPad says 4147 songs.  Why don't they match?!  How can I fix it???

My iTunes library says 4149 songs, my iPhone says 4148 songs, and my iPad says 4147 songs.  Why don't they match?!  How can I fix it???

Yes. I selected all songs and checked them (in case I missed a few) and synced.  I have also tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it.  I tried selecting all songs and unchecking them, re-syncing my phone (which didn't get rid of the songs on my phone like i thought it would), then selected all songs again, checked them, and resynced again--nothing changed.  I went to the iTunes store and selected "Check for all available downloads" and it gave me the message"All purchases have been downloaded for this account."  I checked for duplicates, deleted a few and resynced.  This reduced the number of songs, but it still doesn't match what the iTunes library says...I don't know what to try next...

  • HT1459 My Itunes library has 700 songs.  The Ipod Shuffle is 2 GB.  How many songs will that hold aproximately.

My Itunes library has 700 songs.  The Ipod Shuffle is 2 GB.  How many songs can I get on the Shuffle...aproximately?

To see the exact size of your library, simply look at the status bar at the bottom.  If you don't have a status bar, enable by going to View > Show Status Bar.
If you want to fit more on the iPod, use the capability to "Convert higher bit rate songs..." as shown below.  If you set this to 128, you can fit around 500 4-minute songs in 2GB.

When I choose an album to play in my itunes library, only one song plays and then itunes stops. Also, when I click on the next button, itunes stops. How can I play an entire album through without stopping after each song?

Sounds like you have accidentally unchecked all items. In the Songs view ctrl-click on any empty checkbox.

  • HT1451 How do I consolidate album songs in my itunes library? The songs are showing up separately under the same album cover.

How do I consolidate album songs in my itunes library? The songs are showing up separately under the same album cover.

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.
BTW, are you really still using Windows 2000?
