Itunes library file cannot be saved error 1450

Help PLZ.
Every time I open my iTunes it goes blank (doesn't display songs etc.) If I try to add songs/folders I get the above error meesage. Next time I open my iTunes, it's blank again.
What should I do?

I wish I could say either the Reg changes or disabling McAfee anti-virus worked for me, but I am still stuck.
I am running 6 on a Win2K Server. My account is admin and I have confirmed it is not a permissions issue or a lock file issue.
I receive the -1450 error in the following conditions:
1. iTunes attempts to save library
2. iTunes attempts to download a purchase (actually, it appears to occur after the file is downloaded, but it does not save the file to disk, although it thinks it downloaded the file)
3. iTunes attempts to rip a CD. This is a random occurrence whereby the rip stops at some random place mid-song. I may have it happen immediately, then work for a few songs, then happen again. I have been able to rip 2-3 CDs before seeing the error, whereas other times it seems to occur with the first song and I retry a few dozen times before it works again. I have used 2 different CD drives.
4. iTunes attempts to sync with the iPod. In this case, I randomly receive the error that I need to reset my iPod to factory defaults. However, after a day of waiting, it works again. I actually tried to reset the iPod to factory defaults when I was first presented with this problem--it caused a write error and crashed the iPod to the point where it could not even be recovered by the Apple staff at the Apple store; they gave me a new replacement unit.
I have to think this is a programming issue on the iTunes side, specific to Win2K (and possibly NT). Has anyone had this problem on an XP box?
My next step is to move all my files and software over to my XP box and see if I receive the same errors. Should that fail, I'll use a non-iTunes product until a software update is released.
Anyone from Apple checking into the -1450 error issues?

  • "The Itunes library file cannot be saved" Error Message (-54) please help!

Hello, I was loading a music cd onto my itunes library today when I started getting this recurring Error message stating: "The Itunes library file cannot be saved. An unknown error has occurred (-54)"
It just keeps popping up, and now it let me play anything without getting it. So in a panic I realized that nothing is backed up, so I started backing up my itunes using a blank dvd and even that failed in the middle of burning. I guess it has something to do with the error message?
This scares me since I'm very careful of the types of discs I put into my Mac, and I know that disc in particular didn't have any kind of virus (its been playing in my car for the last two years actually) and it was burned on my PC using itunes a while back when the system was clean.
My music is like my life and this message is freaking me out, how do I get rid of the message without damaging my library? or what happened to make it appear?
I'm afraid of how to proceed next.....Someone please help!

I suspect some anti-virus software is incorrectly interpreting the rewriting of the file and is causing a problem.
Either way, you should definitely update your anti-virus software and definitions to the latest, and run a full scan of your system. Then tell the security software not to scan the iTunes itl file/folder.
If that does not help, you may want to recreate your iTunes library:

However, nothing is ever missing from my library despite this message. Can someone tell me why this message keeps coming up and how to fix it? I am using the latest version of iTunes (7.6.1.9).

  • ITunes library file cannot be saved error 54

why do I receive a statement saying iTunes library file cannot be saved?

I see no information about an error 54 but there is an error -54
From an OS9 reference, error -54 is a software lock on a file or a permissions error. (Some of the old codes still apply to OSX although there is no formal list of OSX error codes.)
First, try simply restarting your computer.
Try quitting iTunes, then deleting the .xml (not .itl !) version of the library file in the iTunes folder (iTunes will generate a new one).

  • ITunes Library file cannot be saved, error (-54).  Help!

I've just downloaded iTunes 11 and now I keep getting this error message "iTunes Library file cannot be saved.  An unknown error occurred. (-54)".  Has anyone else encounter this issue?  How can I fix it?

    Hi Mr.Jones,
I started with the questions marks because I did not understand what you were asking.
I had the impression that yo wanted to make a backup of the Library.
The Library is "saved" in it's standard folder when you change something. Restarting iTunes, or even restarting the Macbook normally solves problems.

  • ITunes library file cannot be saved error -50

Have had this error for a long time now...  Really bothersome...  Lots of spinning beachball after this occurs...  If I quit iTunes, and restart it, the error will stay away for a while, but invariably returns after a few minutes or hours of iTunes useage/downloads...  makes iTunes a real drag to use...
Read and tried the solutions suggested in this thread : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2608679?threadID=2608679 . Has not resolved the issue, unfortunately.  I am using an 8-core MacPro, with 10.6.7 and iTunes 10.2.2 .  The error has been present through various versions of iTunes.  My iTunes has a very large library of songs, podcasts, apps, spread over various hard disks, both internal to the MacPro and external via FireWire...
    What to do ?
    Steven

Scratch that...  Just yanked Virusbarrier X6 (Intego) from both my MacPro's and what were very sluggish machines (including the error -50 in iTunes) seem to have magically regained youth and vigor...  Will try it for the next couple of days, but it would appear that VirusBarrier was at the root of all issues...

  • The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unkown error occurred [-1450]

Has anyone encountered the following iTunes error,
" The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unkown error occurred [-1450] "
Whenever I shut my iTunes down the next time I start it up the library seems to be lost. I can do an Add Folder to Library from the File options, pick my iTunes Music folder and copy everything back in. However the whole repeats when I close iTunes down again. Have tried re-installing iTunes but this did not work.
    Has anyone got any suggestions,
    Thanks.

  • The itunes library file cannot be saved. An Unknown error occurred (-1450)

    Greetings,
    I'm getting the following error:
The itunes library file cannot be saved. An Unknown error occurred (-1450)
I have uninstalled/reinstalled Itunes twice including deleting the old databases. After importing my old songs I get the above error continuously and when I restart Itunes my songs are no longer listed in Itunes.
One thing, all the folders on my computer or now "Read-Only" I can't get rid of this. I uncheck it and aply the change but when I check the properties for the folder again Read-Only is selected again. This is a funny read-only in that the check in the box selecting read-only is ghosted but still there AND WONT GO AWAY.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
Dell XPS   Windows XP Pro   Itunes Ver. 6.0.4.2

i did move the music library folder to a shared documents folder, but I'm the only one who uses that folder. and the hard drive is not full, almost, but still 10 gigs left for use. itunes was working fine, and then one time when it started up it said the there were missing files, and that itunes had to be reinstalled. I looked but could not see any missing files. nothing bad has happened.it cant be a virius, because i have not been on the internet at all in the last month. but i did use CCleaner to clean out my hard drive of unnecessary files , not the first time i have, and then itunes did not work, this has never happened after I've done this so i doubt that CC was the prolbem. I looked at all of the files it was going to delete, and none of them were related to itunes.

  • Help! I always get an error: "The iTunes library fil cannot be saved...."

The error is: "The iTunes library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occured (-1450)." What is wrong??? After the error no songs I add stay in the library, only files I added before the error. I tryed re-installing, but after a while I get the same error again. What is wrong? My new iPod is coming and I want to put all my CD's in iTunes but they wont stay!

O.K., OMG, found the problem, for some reason the folder in which the iTunes library file is stored is marked read-only for some reason, but when I turn read-only off, it comes on right after again, know how do I fix this?

  • Error Message: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. Unknown Error 13001

    My error message says:
The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An Unknown error occurred (13001).
Ever since I loaded the new 3.0 touch upgrade I have been bombarded by error after error. I have turned off genius which seemed to fix the problem at first but about an hour later the error warning popped up again. I have tried the shift start and selected my library with no improvement. It seems to pop up if I load a new podcast or download something and then fails to download.

Hmmm, that error message came up a lot with older itunes & Genius, like 8.0 version. But you have 8.2.
I don't know why it would crash on a download unless it is maybe a permissions problem. The download starts, but permissions make it so it cannot save it at the very end? Make sure you have ownership and full control over your itunes folder and all its subfolders.
How to Take Ownership and Grant Permissions in Windows Vista
And since you've turned off Genius, try deleting these 2 files
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
Restart itunes and see if there is any difference....good luck!

  • Error message -48: The itunes library file cannot be saved.

    Hello,
When I open up my itunes i get an error message 48 - the itunes library file cannot be saved. All my data is there - music, podcasts etc. Just wondering if this error message means anything, if so what, and what I can do to fix it?
    Thanks!

I just called Apple Support and I think they helped me, but I'm still waiting to see if the error message returns. I was experiencing the same problem. Whenever I started iTunes, I would get the -48 error message. Everything else was working fine. Apple Support instructed me to delete some files from a folder and restart my pc. I did this and it seems to have worked. The folder is on my C:/ drive. Using Windows Explorer, I went to my C:/ drive and then opened the following folders in this order: "Documents and Settings", "Administrator", "Application Data", "Apple Computer", "iTunes", "iPod Software Updates". Inside the iPod Software Updates folder, I found four files which I deleted. I then emptied my trash can and restarted my pc. After I restarted my pc and opened iTunes, the error message did not come up. So it looks like my problem has been solved. Just some minor glitch having to do with the last update. I should mention that I did just get an iPod Classic 80 gig which replaced my 30 gig iPod Photo which just died.

I know this doesn't help you Bud, but I've had this issue for at least the last couple of versions.  If I can ask, what is you enviornment like?  Local PC only, libray saved on another PC/Server?
In my case my library is on Windows 2003 server with the share mapped to drive M:  This has worked for many years through both XP and Windows 7 until and update a while ago.
    Thanks,
