ITunes Library not loading

Hello all,
Today, when I opened up iTunes it was loading my iTunes Library but then said there was a problem and said something like it has renamed the Library or file to "iTunes Library (Damaged) 1". This has occurred a few times in the past but this time after iTunes opened up: playlists and applications were missing. How can I get iTunes to work properly again?
I have tried opening the iTunes Library manually by going to File > Import, but it doesn't seem to react, as in doesn't open the library.
I have also tried using "system restore" to see if that solves the problem but the problem still persists.
Any suggestions?

Another I thing I tried recently is using the "change" option (in the Add or Remove Programs section) to fix and reinstall iTunes but it still hasn't made any difference.

  • Itunes library not loading after upgrading

Please help:  I had to upgrade my itunes when I plugged in my Iphone and now it won't sync.  No matter what I plug in (Ipad, Ipad2, Iphone or Ipod) the only thing that happens is the Iphotos will pop up and recognize that I have plugged in my device, but the Itunes does not load and sync.  I don't know if I did something wrong, put when it asked if I wanted to use Icloud I clicked no.  I don't know if that is my problem now or what. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it, as I am lost!
    Thanks, Debbie.

Are you following the instructions from this article in the Apple Knowledge Base, in particular the renaming of the .itl file from the Previous Libraries folder?

  • Itunes library not loading in iphoto

the library shows, but will not load in iphoto. i've tried deleting the xml file to create a new one, but that didn't work.
i have recently moved my library to an external hard drive. i had no issues before.
    any suggestions?

i have been running out of space on my hard drive because of my itunes library. i purchased an external and found a site outlining how to move it and did so. it calls for moving the main folder but not the album artwork or the xml file.
i open iphoto, create a photo slideshow and when i go to choose a song, it shows me the list but gives an error when i choose it. i had no problems previously, so i assume it's because the program cannot find the songs because the files are now on the external drive. i research and several sites say to delete the xml file and create a new playlist in itunes to redirect the files. this did not work and now i'm not sure what to do besides just moving it back to my hard drive and dealing with the space issues some other way.

  • Home Share iTunes Library Not Loading

My itunes library from my old computer will not load onto my new computer. I have home share set up, everything is authorized ,etc. Both computers recognize each others libraries, however my new computer (macbook pro) will not load the library from my old computer (pc). It just says "loading" but never completes the task. I thought maybe it would take some time so i left it alone, but when i came back to it (ive done this three times now) the shared library name has apparently disappeared on its own. The pc loads my mac's library just fine, but my mac wont load up my original library from the pc, which has EVERYTHING on it. PLEASE HELP!

  • ITunes Library not loading in other applications

I m unable to access my iTunes music in iPhoto. I have foloowed the advice given by Apple:
To add music to a slideshow:
    Hide
If you don’t see your iTunes library in the Source pop-up menu:
    Try the following:
Quit both iTunes and iPhoto. Open iTunes first, and then reopen iPhoto.
If you recently installed iLife software, it’s a good idea to open each application in the following order: iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, and then iDVD.
These applications use one another’s media libraries, and opening the applications in that sequence ensures that you see the most up-to-date versions of your music library, photo library, and Movies folder no matter which application you’re using.
If you still don’t see your iTunes library, try this:
Quit iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and iTunes.
In the Finder, locate your iTunes folder.
It is usually in [Home]/Music/iTunes or [Home]/Documents/iTunes. If it’s not there, search for it.
Open the iTunes folder and drag the iTunes Music Library.xml file to your desktop.
Open iTunes and create a new playlist (choose File > New Playlist).
    Quit iTunes and open iPhoto.
You should now see your iTunes library when creating a slideshow.
The same thing happens in both iMovie and iDVD – no iTunes LIbrary available.
There seems to be something fundamentally wrong with my iTunes Library: I dont have an iTunes Media File folder, (which my Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard has).
My iMac (Lion) has the following path: Home/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/and then a list of music which is not what is presently in iTunes, it is some previous state of my iTunes library.
The Macbook pro has the following path: Home/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/ and then a list of music which is as in iTunes.
iTunes itself works OK, although some files, mainly podcasts have become lost files which can't be played.
    Any advice?

  • ITunes will not load certain mp3s into my library

all of the music i have has been tested as working mp3s both on and off the computer; i had a zune for about a year til a rainstorm destroyed it, and the song collection i have plays just as well through winamp/zune/wmp as it did on the zune. however, itunes will not load songs into the library and doesn't give any sort of error or message about it. my primary example is the three bloodhound gang albums i have, only one (one fierce beer coaster) will load in itunes whereas the others (hefty fine and hooray for boobies) don't show up, regardless of adding songs individually, adding folders, or drag+dropping from explorer. any ideas why itunes is hatin on my music?

i can't seem to find a "itunes music library.itms" file, or indeed any .itms file in the program files folder for itunes. currently there is no music in my itunes library; i removed it all to try directly dragging files from explorer to the music section of my ipod, which still results in files not loading/synching. after it finishes i'll put files into the library and see if it creates such a file

i converted a heap of music using 'switch', now when i try and add this to library itunes will not load???

Unless the MUST be AAC, try FreeWMAtoMP3Changer: http://www.wma-mp3.com/free-wma-to-mp3-converter/
The ONLY caveat with it is: You CAN'T drag & drop files on it to open them. You MUST use the browse function to select them. If you drag and drop, it multiplies the output files. A 10 track album will produce 45 converted files.

  • Itunes will not load

hi- i have tried to install the updated version of itunes- but i guess i deleted the "music folder" from my computer- and therefore itunes will not load- how can i put back "my music" folder- where should i put it- so that i can load itunes- thanks-

Next time you try to launch iTunes, do a "Choose library" as per the following document:
    [Using multiple iTunes libraries|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/9.0/en/15502.h tml]
Now where "username" is the name of your XP User account, browse to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Can you see your library in there? If so, and you select it, does your normal iTunes library come up?

My iTunes is not loading on my computer (PC).  The error message says: MSVCR80.dll was not found

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Library Not Loading in Home Sharing

I recently purchased a macbook pro and am trying to transfer my iTunes library via homesharing from an old dell inspiron laptop to the new mac.  Both computers have the most recent version of iTunes, are activated for the same homesharing account, and the library names appear under the "sharing" section of iTunes.  I can transfer the few songs I have on the macbook to the PC with no problem, but for some reason when I click on the name of the PC's library on my macbook, itunes says that the library is loading for a minute and then the screen goes back to the mac's itunes library without loading the shared library.  I have been trying to figure out for days now what the problem might be with no luck.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

more often than not, this is due to security software and/or firewall settings on the winsloth side. check these support articles for a possible solution:

  • "The application iChat quit unexpectedly"; "Library not loaded"?

Whenever I try to launch iChat, I receive "the application iChat quit unexpectedly" error.
Neither "Relaunch" nor "Reset and Relaunch" fix the issue, and when I click "Report" and view the "Report Details" it gives the output enclosed below.
The gist of the error is "Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ScreenSharing.framework/Versions/A/ScreenShar ing".
It also says "Reason: no suitable image found", but it also says it:
    "Did find:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ScreenSharing.framework/Versions/A/ScreenShari ng: unknown file type, first eight bytes: 0x6E 0x61 0x6D 0x65 0x20 0x20 0x48 0x42"
I've removed and reinstalled iChat (when in Safe Boot -- with the Shift key) from Disk 1 of the Mac OS X Install disk 1 by using the "Optional Installs.mpkg" installer and selecting only iChat, but I still receive the same error.
How can I reinstall this "ScreenSharing" library? Would that likely fix the issue?
PS - I just realized that if I go to "System Preferences" and click "Sharing", the options are totally blank! I can't see any options or change any Sharing configuration! All my other System Preferences show up correctly.
So now the question becomes, how do I install just the "Sharing" System Preference?
Or should I try to reset permissions on the Sharing System Preference somehow?
    Thanks!!

Note that the first eight bytes of a Universal-Binary Mach-O image should be 0xCAFEBABE, 0x00000002. Since the existing file was so vastly different, after all else is said and done, you may want to make sure your hard drive checks out okay in Disk Utility.

  • Itunes will not load, someone please help!?

i have read all the forums, and nothing is working for the technical help that I need, itunes will not load or work and no matter what help I am trying to seek, nothing is working. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, everything that people are advising but nothing seems to work. Basically each time I try to click on itunes to load, the timer appears but nothing else. I have just replaced my iphone and I cant get it to sync with my itunes so basically i cant use my phone either, please help anyone?! thanks, terri!

I believe the files need to be in MPEG-4 format. Or that is what I am converting my movies in and it works fine.
Movies you download off of iTunes are in M4V format, which is probably Apples MPEG-4 format name.
