Itunes library on all devices

I have a many years Itunes library collected on a desktop (PC).I want my laptop (PC) take over as my Itunes home while I travel (So not via remote acess to home desktop.) I want my TTunes library on the laptop. Also, I record with my I pod and my I phone and want to upload the recordings to the laptop, rename them in Itunes and reload it to the smaller listening device, just like I do regularly with my desktop. Thanks for your advice.

Transfer your itunes library onto your laptop. Here is how to do it just think of your laptop as an external hard drive
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1751
Then sync your ipod and iphone to the new computer. If it says erase and sync, go ahead and then reync the content from your laptop
Your iphone and iPod are then tied to your new laptop for when you travel

  • I just purchased a Macbook, iPad, and iPhone and I am trying to sync my iTunes library from my Windows laptop.  How can I sync my iTunes library to all devices?

I just recently purchased a MacBook Pro (13 inch with Retina display), an iPad Air 2, and an iPhone 6 plus.  Before these purchases, I was using a Windows 7 laptop to manage my iTunes library and iTunes purchases.  I am in need of syncing my iTunes library on my iPod classic (160 GB) with all of my new Apple devices.  How can I sync my iTunes library with all of my new devices?

Devices can only sync to one library at a time. You can, however, have multiple copies of libraries on different computers though it can be tricky making sure they are always synchronized.  You can put your Windows iTunes on your Mac.
Moving a library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
When this is to a new computer put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

    Why does iTunes SUCK??
    1) Many items greyed out in the menu bar, for well over 2 years, maybe more!
    2) I Can't drag more than one piece of content from your iTunes library to any device (iPhone, iPad)
If you do it gets stuck for HOURS and HOURS in "Preparing To Update" and the little activity circle never completes, ever!!
I used to be able to drag over 1000 tunes, movies, etc. go have breakfast come back and it would all be on my device!!
Can't do it anymore, one song at a time, maybe an album at a time, or one movie, and that is it!!
If you do a 2nd item the other items stop loading and never continue!!
This is so BAD, I don't understand how they don't have this fixed yet!!
Please tell me I am not the only one!!
...and If I am tell me how to fix it!
    Very appreciated,
    Joe

  • Itunes library on multi devices

    Hello
    1. I have one apple ID for all my itunes and store activities
    2. Have several devices : Mac 17" (first gen), Macbook pro (2010), Macbook Air (2012), iphone 4s
3 when I connect my iphone to one device, a message comes out saying something like" you are on different library.. want to delete whats on the phone and re sync?)
    4. Only on one device ( the MBP) no such message.
    5. I suspect that maybe my devices have different user name !! If so , how can I change them all to one name ?
I need to be able to normalize my library on all devices so that whatever happens on one device is "pushed" to all other.?
    Thank you

It is possible to make the 'Persistent ID' for each iTunes Library the same, so that the iPhone syncs like it is the same library.
I think this outlines the basic idea, even though the page is old (I haven't tried this on iTunes 11)
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=2137
I think you should create a test user account on each Mac with a small music library, backup you iPhone & then test the process. Make sure you have solid backups BEFORE you meddle with the library file!
The major issue you will have is trying to keep the different libraries in sync - e.g. the play counts will be updated on the last machine & it won't propagate across the multiple libraries, files added on one library may (or may not) move to the other machines via the iPhone. If you delete a song in one playlist another Mac will be out of sync with it… it's a whole can of worms.
Jon is correct, if you have a server with your home folder on network based storage you could use one username & password (SingleSignOn) to login to the same stuff on each Mac. It's advanced stuff, but I'm sure it is the only way Apple expect you to do it. It's best on hte same network, but you can have 'mobile accounts' that sync back to the server.
There have been many attempts to keep one copy of the iTunes library on network storage (without a home server e.g. a NAS) the Mac must be setup to mount that storage when you login. It can be messy & slow if you don't have a fast wired network connection on all the devices.
The 'Persistent ID' method is a 'hack', but it may be good enough depending on your expectations, but it is beyond the realm of Apple support.

Hello Analogue guy living in wireless world,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing when trying to sync your music to your iPod.
I recommend trying to sync your music again using iTunes.  When you have your iPhone connected to iTunes, I recommend checking the Music tab to verify that Sync Music is checked.  From here, you will be able to select to sync your "Entire music library" or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres:"

  • I will soon be purchasing a new PC running Windows 7. I need to know how to migrate my iTunes Library and apple devices to the PC. Is there a previously published support document on this topic? Thank You.

I will soon be purchasing a new PC running Windows 7. I need to know how to migrate my iTunes Library and apple devices to the PC. Is there a previously published support document on this topic? Thank You.

Connect a blank powered external drive to the PC.
Right click on the Disk in the File manager and choose format: exFAT
(if it's a XP machine, first install exFAT from Microsoft and reboot)
navigate to your user account folders on the PC and drag and drop copy (or copy and paste) to the external drive.
(if a program has your files, then export them out first)
Hook up the drive to the Mac, and transfer files to the desktop or to their same appropritate folders.
Import photo's into iPhoto program, import music into iTunes etc and they will manage those files.
You can continue to use the external exFAT drive between Mac's and PC's
Do not format the drive NTFS or FAT, NTFS can't be written too by the Mac and FAT can't hold over 4GB sized files.
If you format exFAT on the Mac, it likely won't work correctly on the  PC.
"Migration" type programs are a utter waste of time and effort between PC's and Mac's for the fact that only certain files (and no programs or anything else) will work between them, also it's a hassle and takes too long. So don't even bother with it.

  • My iTunes library shows all music but there is an exclamation mark to the left on all entries and there is a message stating "original file could not be found" although all music is on the iPad.

The massage means what it says. iTunes can't find the actual music files. All iTunes has is a database of where the files should be and they are not there.
    Try:
    - iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads
    - Redownloading iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Deleting apps from iTunes Library and IOS Devices at once.

    Hi there,
I tend to delete all unneeded apps from iTunes library on my Mac, because when I delete them from there, it just take one syncing session to deleted them from all my other devices. But recently I noticed that this way is no longer helpful, now I have to delete each app on my iPhone, iPad and Mac manually. So if anyone can help me to make iTunes recur to the previous pehevior, please replay ASAP.
    Thanks.

I have the same problem! I recently decided to clean up my devices. The first thing that came to my mind was to delete an App from iTunes, sync and get rid of it on all other devices. I was surprised that it stays on iDevices evem after you delete it from iTunes. I don't want it this way. DOes anyone know of a trick that can allow me delete an app just once?
Before if you delete an App from iTunes and try to Sync an iPhone or an iPad with it, you would see a window telling you that there are items on your iphone that are not present in iTunes - do you want to copy them? Now it just "syncs" and leaves the Apps untouched. What kind of synchronization is this?
