ITunes library won't sync with iPhone 5s

My problem is on an iPhone 5S 16GB running iOS 8.0.2...
Recently I had to remove my music from my iPhone in order to create space to apply the iOS 8 update. When I went to add the music back to my phone, there are songs in iTunes that won't sync. All of the songs I am trying to add back were on the phone before the iOS 8 update was installed. Up to this point I have not had any problems adding or deleting music from the phone / library.
FYI, I am only using genuine Apple cords to connect to my computer, so generic cables are not an issue.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Same issue here, but on an iPhone 4.
Tried multiple combinations of unchecking playlist, reboot mac, reboot phone ... nothing worked.
Re-initialized the phone and bam .. music is synching.

ITunes Freezes, Won't Sync With iPhone

I am relatively new to the Macbook family. Since I have purchased my Macbook air, the only complaint I have had is with iTunes. I have every upgrade that has been pushed out. The problem started when I first imported my library from an external hardrive, nothing would copy over, I reformatted the drive to work better with the Macbook and lost 8000+ songs. No big deal to me because it was time to clean a lot of the collection out. Now the external hardrive is fresh and formatted correctly. I have changed my library location to the hardrive and my music will show up in the library and play. However, it freezes all the time. The other issue I have is when I try to sync my iPhone 5 nothing will copy over, it starts then just gives me a message that itunes could not copy to iphone because the file could not be read or written. It makes no sense to me since all the files will play. Not sure what to do, I've done a million searches and nothing. I hate to say it by my iTunes, external harddrive and iPhone all worked flawlessly on my Windows machine. Any suggestions would be appreciated before I make a call to Apple Care.

ITunes 12 won't sync with iPhone 5s

I cannot now copy purchased music from iTunes 12 on my iMac (running 10.9.5) to my iPhone 5s.
On the iPhone section of iTunes it shows the songs greyed out, but it is not updating/syncing the phone at all.
I did just get a new iPhone 5s through Asurion because my other one got wet, but it was completely copied from the old phone (synced using USB cord from a previous back up on iTunes).
My iTunes library is on an external LaCie hard drive that is hard wired to the iMac.
Any advice would be great - I use music at work to focus.

After spending a few hours on this, this is what worked:
Verified/repaired disk permissions through Disk Utility on iMac.
Deleted entire music collection in iPhone 5c: Settings/General/Usage/Manage Usage/Music: Edit, (click red subtraction sign), done.
Turned off iPhone.
Unplugged iPhone from iMac.
Plugged back in iPhone to iMac. (Unsure if this step did anything.)
Turned on iPhone.
When it automatically synced, it loaded all 220 or so songs onto the iPhone that I'd wanted there from the playlist I'd created (some had already been on the iPhone and were deleted then added back, some were on the iPhone list in iTunes as greyed out but weren't on the iPhone).
I still have no idea why, in iTunes, when I click on the iPhone icon, it shows I have 220 or so songs on the iPhone but if I click on the name of the playlist on the iPhone further down it only has 115 or so. As it's working and all of the songs I want are on the iPhone, I'm going to stop exploring solutions.

2 songs that won't sync with iPhone 4

I have 2 "songs" in iTunes that won't sync with my iPhone 4. I say "songs" because they are 30-minute treadmill workout songs that I purchased a long time ago when I had a 3rd generation iPod Touch and used the old Nike+ system that required a sensor in my shoe as well as a tracker attached to the iPod. I think it was one of the first issues of the Nike+ system. Anyway, I purchased OK Go's Master the Treadmill and another Treadmill Training compilation. Both albums contained a 30+ minute voice-over track with the songs and guidance for running. Then, the individual songs were included for you to listen to without a guiided workout if you wanted. Since I've had my iPhone 4 (about a year now), I haven't been able to figure out how to get these 30-minute voice-over songs to sync (the individual songs sync fine). They appear in a "Workouts" folder in iTunes - I think that was linked up to Nike+, but I'm not actually sure where that folder came from. They play on iTunes, but no matter what I do, I can't get them to appear on my iPhone. I've tried adding them to a playlist, creating a new playlist, but nothing works. The songs don't show up anywhere on my iPhone. Can anyone help?

I'm in the same boat. I have an original iPhone which has been working fine for years. Always updated contacts, always synced with my calendars and contacts. Now my iPhone has done a software update and I'm stuffed.
I can select the tick boxes to tell it to update contacts and calendars, then when the option to apply is selected it removes the ticks and starts to do a sync without actually updating anything.
Part way through is comes up with the error that iTunes cannot update because a sync session cannot be started. I've tried a hard reset of the phone, re-installing iTunes, deleting multiple calendars. I've tried everything I've had suggested. Apple won't offer any support when I rang because my phone is old. They'll willing sell me new phone ! ! ! !
I've trawled through nearly every web and forum I can. I've tried a multitude of so called fixes all to no avail.
Having been an avid supporter of the iphone/itunes and apple, I am now so pi**ed off with it.
I've been trying solutions for 3 days ! ! !

I tried the same but it did not worked. But, i got a solution. I accessed gmail on my laptop. Went to gmail settings. There is a option to add a device. A iPhone was already listed. I clicked Revoke to remove it. Then i clicked add new device and gave it iPhone name and a new 16-20 character password was geenrated. I used it to configure gmail on my Iphone and it worked beautifully. So glad i have been able to fix this. That password is a one time password to authenticate that device.

It says it cannot removed the older version of iTunes.
Doublechecking before proceeding ... what's the precise text of that message, please? (There's a couple of different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

Hi, I had do erase everything off my hard drive to fix a problem with my iphone today and when I went to restore itunes, my ipod won't sync with the library. I get the message that I would need to erase everything on my ipod because its sync with another library and sync with the new library which just has the things I brought in the itunes store. I have a lot more music that the music I got in itunes. So my question is how can I copy the flies (music/videos/movies) from my ipod to the new library? Please help me. Thank You.

You erased your hard drive without making sure you had a current backup copy of your music?
You can try a 3rd party program to get the music off ( this is not supported by Apple).
You can also try a forum search ( right side of this page), as this is asked and answered very often.
Zevoneer ( a fellow itunes user) does a great job explaining the options.

Music library won't sync to iphone, how do I clean up my phone?

My iphone music is a mess and won't sync with itunes.
I have tried -
Downloading all manually that could from the cloud.
Downloading all purchases manually.
Turning of show all music. *with a power off
Manually deleting all songs.
Nothing works and itunes will not sync.
Most of the songs are greyed out when I show my iphone in itunes.
How do I wipe out all the music on my phone and start a fresh sync? Or second question, do I just need to do a restore?
I have been struggling with this since December and am ready to scream!

If you rent from your iphone, then you cannot watch from any other device.

Moved picture folders around now won't sync with iPhone

I recently moved around some pictures and now most of my pictures will not sync to my iPhone.
I have tried deleting the photo cache, moving pictures into a single folder and resetting the sync history, uninstalled iTunes, restored phone, copied all my photos to another location, and each time I get an error that that my iPhone can't be read or written to or the device times out.
The strangest thing is most of the folders or pictures it doesn't seem to like were pictures that were on the phone previously or were not touched when I moved stuff around.
I am running Vista and have even tried single folders and that works for some but most error out.
Any help would be appreciated.

First, make sure that the songs play in iTunes on your computer. If so, right-click and choose "create AAC version." Use the new AAC version with your iPhone.

It sounds to me like the option to "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" was turned off in the iTunes -> Advanced preferences when you added the tracks from the flash drive, so iTunes left them on the flash drive rather than copying them to your computer's hard drive. Get Info on any of the tracks and see where iTunes thinks they should be located. If they're pointing to the flash drive, check that preference.
If that is indeed the problem, you'll need to fix the location. You can do this track by track if there aren't too many, but if there are a number of them, it'll be easiest to remove them from the iTunes library, fix the above-mentioned preference, and add the tracks again. Or you can just keep the flash drive connected to your computer, but that's probably not ideal.

i'm pulling my hair out! my ical just won't sync with my iphone anymore. i wanted to reset sync history as suggested in some forums but lion doesn't have isync anymore.
it is so frustrating as it is supposed to be easy to sync apple products!
any ideas?

Thanks John, you're a star! it's back to normal, it was hours last night resetting my iphone but no luck. I reset my sync services this morning and it works!
Why have Apple made it so difficult to do this, why hide things away? I spent ages looking for my library the other day as that was hidden! Mad!
