ITunes lists Podcast as Video Podcast due to CMS Error
Before I begin, here are my podcast feed and my itunes link:

So, I noticed after my show was submitted to iTunes that Wordpress had set previous posts uploads' to the same type that PowerPress ( http://www.blubrry.com/powerpress/ ) uses. I corrected my feed using a fix I found in their forums ( http://forum.blubrry.com/index.php?topic=595.0 ).
Now, I have a feed that only contains my podcasts, but the category breadcrumbs read: Podcasts > Video Podcasts > Video Games > GAMINGtruth. Is there any way to correct this?
I've already pinged iTunes, so is there something else I should be doing to ensure it gets placed in the correct category?
Using WP v. 2.7.1 & BluBrry PowerPress v. 0.7.3

It sounds like you are getting an error message after a recent iTunes update. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article named:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
It will involve uninstalling iTunes and its associated applications. The links in the article will walk you through uninstalling them all.

Can you filter iTunes search results by video or audio podcasts?
I have been searching for hours and haven't found a definite answer. Anyone know if this is possible?
Can you filter iTunes search results by video or audio podcasts?I'm having the same problem. I go to Podcasts/Video Podcasts/News and they only give the featured, favorites (whose?), etc. I want to see all video news podcasts but if I then click on see all, it drops the video classification and shows all news podcasts. The iTunes search in general leaves a lot to be desired; its not very intuitive or pleasant to use, not the usual Apple experience.

I have a problem with the entire iTunes list being dragged upwards after I've changed the names of the podcasts. It's really annoying, so I was wondering whether anyone knows how to stop that. For some reason, I think I had a similar issue with iTunes 10 and somehow resolved it, but I can't recall how at the moment. Thanks!
You can't avoid that if you drag a link.<br />
If you drag a link to a folder then Firefox doesn't check if the link already exists as this is a way to have multiple copies of a bookmark in addition on to a copy/paste.<br />
To avoid having multiple bookmarks of the same link you would have to click the star on the location bar twice to bookmark the link and subsequently open the Edit This Bookmark dialog. -
I have bought an iPad 2 recently but when i open itunes, i only have 3 buttons. (downloads, itunes U, podcasts) how do i get the music, music videos etc. buttons?

I own an iPod Classic. In iTunes, some podcast videos cant be played on teh iPod, so I set it to convert the video to the right format for the iPod. It used to work perfectly, but now for some reason, it doesnt convert properly! When I play the video, it is just a white screen, but the sound can be heard. Can anyone help??????
Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
See: iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
Try MPEG Streamclip. -
Is it possible to auto-download app update in iTunes, like podcasts can do?
Is it possible to auto-download apps in iTunes, like podcasts can do?
I wish I could set app updates, in iTunes, to auto-download every hour when available just like my podcasts do. Am I overlooking some way to do this or is this really a wish-list feature?It is not possible, I assume due to certain apps charging for updates (as will be the likely case for sat-nav map updates etc). This is why iTunes requests your password for confirmation that you want to install the update, whether it is free or chargeable.
What I would like to see is the option to reject an update! That way, if you don't want to pay to update an app, you can remove the notification spot on your iPhone and in iTunes! -
iTunes recently started to freeze up. I can't get to my podcasts, it lists "podcasts" as a header twice in the library menu. Also, when I try to sync my iPod and go to select which podcasts to sync, it freezes up on that heading only. I think the freeze has something to do with pdocasts. Oh, by the way, all my old podcasts have been deleted. Please help.
I was having the same problem until I uninstalled Perian and then all was well.
I have both full device freezes as well as a pause after teh video started for about a minute and the a juttery continue of the video.
If I watched 3 or 4 video's in a row I would completely lock up...
This is all gone now that I removed Perian

While downloading podcasts to my library, I am getting the message, "the iTunes Library file cannot be saves. An unknown error occured (-54)." Any idea of what is going on?
Thanks.The problem went away on its own. Not sure what was the problem but perhaps somehow the system was out sync internally due installing Lion 10.7.3/Snow Leopard 10.6.8/10.7/10.7.3 with iTunes 6 installing after the 10.7.3 and then needing to be installed again after the second 10.7.3 install from the updater model.
I kept accepting the error message and checking iTunes music file. No podcast downloads were actually rejected. -
ITunes U Podcasts polluting Music Library
Hi there,
I have strange issue using iTunes 9.
I subscribed to iTunes U podcast. iTunes downloads chapters and throws it into iTunes U label but at same time it adds it into Music Library.
iTunes U podcasts on grid view in "U" section are shown as different podcasts but in list view everything is OK.

In Music Library while in grid view I can see all those podcast's chapters all around.

Strange is - my "U" content is labeled as "Music" while in Music Library and as "Podcast" while in iTunes U section selecting multiple files at once. Such settings are "out of the box" right after file is downloaded from iTunes.

I can't do anything about it - as you can see options are grayed out or changing them does nothing.
Do i do something wrong or is it iTunes 9 bug?just reformatted my computer as it went kaput and all the I tune is gone..So I downloaded 8.0 and set up a new new ITUNE and copied songs from my I MUSIC library that was in my hard drive.When I connected my I phone it says that my iPHONE is attached to another library and it will not take some new songs that I downloaded.
I PHONE does not even play as the playlists are dim.
Even If I am able to trnsfer music from the library I will not be able to transfer to the I phone as it is not recognising it..pl help -
Older and manually-added podcasts not in iTunes 7 Podcasts
I recently upgraded to iTunes 7. For some of the older podcasts and ones that I have downloaded manually, they don't appear under the Podcasts icon in either the iTunes:Library:Podcasts or iTunes:Devices:<my iPod>:Podcasts.
All these new and old podcasts have the Podcast genre label.
However, if I create a Podcasts Smart Playlist with the genre is Podcast, I can see them all. However, I notice that in the Browser, the newer podcasts show up in the Artist mind-window as "Podcasts", while the older ones have their actual Artist listed.
What is going on here? It's really inconsistent, and I miss some of my podcasts going through the Podcast label on the top level of the iPod.
iPod 20GB, 4G Windows XPI use the "Recently Added" smart playlist to find my "hidden" manually-sync'd podcasts. Let's me play them but I can't delete the darn things EVER! I'm afraid to try the suggestion about only syncing checked items cuz every time I change the syncing settings, everything gets deleted off my ipod.
Thank goodness I have the 60G so at least I have room -- for now -- for the old undeletable ipods. If I had a nano, I'd be really mad!
Has anyone figured out how to delete? -
I have seen posts identifying a frustration I have with the way current versions of iTunes puts Podcasts in the Music list.
A helpful suggestion from other Discussion users has been to create a Smart Playlist with the exception of "Podcast" in Genre.
ITunes should introduce a fix for this but in the meanwhile the workaround helps.
However this is now a growing problem as the exception now needs to include "Podcasting", "Public Radio", "Professional", "TV & Film" & "Audiobook". No doubt this will increase as Podcasters add new Genres . . .The number indicates how many podcast episodes have not been played.
Click on the triangle shape next to podcast category. This will expand list to show the name/s of podcasts youa re subscribed to. Beside each of the name/s will be a number also, indicating the number of unplayed episodes for that podcast. The podcast list can be expanded by clicking on the triangle next to it's title. The expanded podcst list will show all episodes you have or that are available for that podcast. The blue dot next to the episode is another indication that the episode has not been played.
When or if you got other podcasts, this can be useful for finding unplayed episodes. Note, unplayed changes when you start play, playcount changes when play of track completes. -
ITunes Radio / iTunes Store podcasts
Are iTunes Radio and iTunes Store podcasts available on Apple TV?
As you've figured out by now, the ATV selections are limited to the iTunes store. I mentioned the Mac mini because it can do iTunes, Roku and Internet video, along with network shares sans iTunes.
If you compare the iTunes store with Netflix, you'll like find they both have offerings the other does not. There has yet to come a video service that offers everything, and the only device that comes close to being able to play everything is still a computer. A computer with an HDMI port is a welcome addition to the lineup. -
ITunes Featuring Podcasts in certain Categories
Does anyone know how to get your podcast listed in a certain category in iTunes? Or how to get featured in a category?
Our podcast is in iTunes but you can only find it when you do a keyword search for podcast name, journeyPod.
I had the first luxury travel podcast in iTunes back in March 2007 when iTunes listed all podcasts in the travel section. Now we are not listed at all under Places and Travel. I have that field correctly done in my feed. I also have a little image artwork as required.
We also have 9 shows and update our content every other week and soon we will publish every week. Other shows that are featured have not been updated in months.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx, Ryan

journeyPod.libsyn.comFeatured listing is done strictly by Apple, they don't have a published method to ask for a featured listing. In most cases, they won't even tell you if they feature your podcast - you'll just see your downloads spike if it happens.
