Itunes locks freezes up won't work?

As soon as i log on it locks up.

Log on? Log onto the computer?  iTunes itself doesn't have a log on unless you are automatically trying to connect to some service that requies it such as buying items from the store.  Do you really mean log on?

I'm trying to type in my credit card number in my iTunes account and it won't work?

By 'won't work' you mean ? If you are getting an error message then what does it say ?
For a card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are.

  • Loaded iTunes 9, now mouse won't work

Interesting. I updated iTunes 9 via the "Check for updates" menu option. Installation was clean and green - no errors, no freezing or hanging, clean reboot.
Upon restart, the mouse won't work. Standard ps/2 for a Dell PC, no problems before now, etc. Rebooted again. Mouse doesn't work.
What gives? Anyone have this problem? Sounds like a resource conflict, but those are so rare in recent years I find that possibility surprising.

When the system was restarted, my iPod was plugged in. Normally, this isn't a big deal, but as a troubleshooting step, I unplugged the 'pod, rebooted and got mouse functionality back.
Just to test it, I then plugged the 'pod back in, and everything still worked. The next test would be to plug the 'pod back in and reboot just to see if I lose the mouse again, but I'm happy enough to move on.

  • ITunes search function suddenly won't work, pending iTunes upgrade.

I have an old (2002) 16-bit PC, which won't support an iTunes upgrade. I've tried to upgrade (from 7.1) before, but it crashed the machine (and I lost ALL my music), so I've stayed with 7.1 and until now everything -- including the iTunes store and the search function -- has worked just fine.  But suddenly, when I go to the iTunes store to buy new music, it presents an "Upgrade to iTunes 10" screen, and the search function won't work at all.  I'm locked out until I upgrade, but I can't upgrade.  Help?

Your QT may work fine but is it the most current v7.1.3? This is not to say that this will resolve your problem. You might try to d/l the 10.4.6 combo update and reinstall the upgrade to the system. That might resolve the problem.
I would wait until the new year and then upgrade to iLife07. No sense in buying 06 if 07 is around the corner.
You can downgrade to an earlier version of an app. To downgrade iTunes you would need to remove the receipt from HD>Library>Receipts>iTunesX.pkg. You will also need the .dmg of the version you want to reinstall. Old iTune versions are avalable at http://www.oldapps.com/downloadiTunesmac.php
You can get old iPhoto at http://www.oldapps.com/iPhoto.php - instructions here http://www.oldapps.com/forum/showthread.php?p=545
To downgrade your OS you will need to reload the original OS from the system disks that you have then upgrade to the level that you want.
    As always b/u before proceeding.

  • Did the iTunes update & now it won't work at all!

I downloaded the iTunes update 2 days ago, and now iTunes won't work because it needs 10.4.9+ & all I have is 10.4.8
I tried to download the 'Combo' 10.4.11 but it crashed my system (the 'Restart' hung with turning wheel for over 2 hours) & I had to reboot from disk at the cost of several hours.
I only use iTunes for listening to the radio worldwide, nothing else. I have no iPod, have no purchased music.
Is there any way to uninstall the update? iTunes was just fine for me before the update.
Or, is there any way to install the 10.4.11 from a friend's disks? - since it's just an 'Update' which is available online, it doesn't sound like it would be illegal, but I want to keep "Kosher". I am assuming that even though the downloaded update crashed my system, loading from disk should work.
Any help would be appreciated - I am not very computer literate, so the simpler the better!
    -Erik

Finally solved the problem by going back to an older version of iTunes, which I found on FileHippo.com - I chose version 7.0 since I had no idea what older version I used to have.
The uninstall was the hard part, but these instructions did the trick:
    http://www.oldapps.com/forum/showpost.php?p=925&postcount=34
Even then, when I got the "iTunesSetup.exe", clicking on it got the message:"iTunes library cannot be read because it was created by a later version of iTunes". Apparently some fragment of the "update was hiding somewhere.
I finally solved this by right-clicking (option+click) on it.
So now I have iTunes back & have no need for the "Combo Update"
At this point, having had a week of frustration from that worse-than-useless "Update", I have no intention of messing with any more "Updates". This computer is, and will remain a 10.4.8 machine.

  • Itunes crashed - now it won't work at all - tried to uninstall but can't re

So - itunes was playing away happily when it just stopped - I tried to force quit it but no luck - it would just stay in the dock and I could not even get it out of the dock. I tried dragging the itunes icon from the application folder to the trashcan to uninstall it - no luck - it said itunes was still running even though I had force quit it a bunch of times.
I restarted my Mac - itunes was not in the dock so I drug the icon from the app folder to the trash and that worked. I downloaded the latest version of itunes (twice) both times the installation never would complete. When it came time to start the actual install - itunes showed up as "0" bytes and when I would hit next - I received a message saying there was nothing to install. I ran the "check for updates" thing and no updates are found for my computer.
So - I can't find itunes on my computer - I can't install it and I can't listen to any music. All my music is still on my external hard drive - I didn't lose anything
I'm just at a loss for what to do now.
Any help or advise would be great! Thanks!
    Dan

  • I've tried everything, but iTunes 7.0.2 won't Work

I've read a million of the "my iTunes 7.0 won't work" and tried a million different ways to get mine to work, but it just won't. Help please.
    The program won't open.

    The program won't open.
    a few questions before proceeding.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
if you're getting no error messages whatsoever, do you just see the wee hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
or are you seeing a brief "flash" of the itunes license screen (and then nothing)? if so, do you also see similar behavior when you try to launch your QuickTime?

  • My lock screen button won't work how can I fix this?

My lock button won't work, every time I click it it won't lock my screen unless I press the button hard enough and or in a weird gesture, how can I fix this where I don't need to struggle locking it?

    Stating the obvious,
    Can you Reset it?
Have you checked if the Hold switched is not in locked position? (should not see the red mark)

I have tried removing all itunes & quicktime files and downloading again via the cd and directly from the website and still the same problem.

    hiya!
just popping by to drop off a link to a QT standalone installer:
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
(the link to a true standalone QT on the QT Player download page can be a bit difficult to find. the most obvious download link on there leads to an itunes/QT installer bundle.)

  • My macbook pro is freezing/sound won't work

A few days ago my Macbook pro started freezing up and requiring a forced power off each time. Sometimes the screen would go completely white, other times the cursor would still move but the display was broken and unable to be clicked. It happens at random intervals, sometimes without me even running any programs it will freeze up and go to a blank screen. A lot of times it takes a few consecutive tries to actually restart it in the first place.
Anyway, I contacted Apple Support Chat and the employee helped me to Repair the Disk Permissions which provided a temporary fix. After it kept acting up later, I followed her instructions to do both a PRAM reset and SMC reset. However, after performing both of those today now my screen has gone dark blue a few times and also the sound won't work with or without headphones.
    Could someone please help me?

  • Itunes 7.0.2 won't work with Iphoto 5 (5.0.4)

After updating Itunes to 7.0.2 I found an incredible mess of problems started happening -- none of my MS office 2004 applications now open, for example, because I now apparently have a "Carbon lib failure." How many of those are from the Itunes update I don't know, as I updated to OS 10.4.6 at the same time.
But one of the most irritating problems that MUST be connected to the Itunes update is that I can no longer put music to my Iphoto slideshows. When I hit the "add music" button in Iphoto 5, it shows me my Itunes playlists and a spotlight search window, but won't actually let me search in the window, or actually open my library or playlists to select a song.
Any ideas on how to revert to the previous version of Itunes, which seemed to work just fine. (Or, while you're at it, to the previous version of OS X.4)?
I've just switched my wife to Mac partly on the basis of the integration and stability of their ILIfe software, and this -- along with the proliferating OS glitches now on her computer as well -- has really undermined my case.

  • Why does Itunes keep freezing up and stop working?

It is kind of getting old but my Itunes player (does not matter which one as I update to the latest version) has this nasty habit of freezing whether I am trying to listen to the radio or my own library.
It is now happening almost every time I use Itunes and when it freezes the only fix is to do the old Control-Alt-Delete.
I am running a 64 bit Window's 7 home premium and prefer using Itunes but you know if you does not work get something else
I have 4 GBs Ram with a 2.6 Dual Core Pentium

Just out of curiosity when you say iTunes sent you here, do you mean that there was a link to here in the iTunes application, or that someone from Apple sent you here?
There are lots of posts from general iTunes users on this forum so I'm curious to know if/how people are being misdirected.
    Thanks

  • ITunes Store Freezes and Won't Load

I upgraded to Windows 7 recently and ever since i cant get the iTunes store to connect. When i try to search for something in the store it basically just gets stuck on loading forever and then at that point i have to force quit to close iTunes. Can someone help please?

Okay so I did a little more research and i found out that hundreds of people had this problem when windows 7 beta was out, and they had the following solution:
To those of you running windows 7:
Apparently in w7 there are a lot of compatibility errors with security programs and itunes. I have Norton Internet Security 2009, and I added C:\Program Files\iTunes to the auto-protect exclusions, and i haven't had any hang-ups since; no need for hard reboots or anything. iTune's Store doesn't freeze either.
I also read that disabling windows media player network sharing service fixes it, which I ended up doing also, but I'm not sure if that really affected the outcome or not.
You don't have to take my word for it either, here are the two main places where I gathered my information, you can do the same:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproperf/thread/598fe2b4-844d-4 12d-b195-5fa53dc62661
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproappcompat/thread/0ccd936 d-a9b3-47ce-bb22-e9e699d6bd47
For those of you not using windows 7:
From what I read, I'm not sure if the same fix will work for your problem, but I encourage you to explore the site above for more solutions to your problem

  • ITunes 9 and 8 won't work - just reinstalled Windows XP

    Hi all,
I feel I'm going mad here. All night I was reinstalling Windows XP on my sister's Dell Inspiron 1520. As far as I know, I've put on all the correct drivers and bios in the right order.
This morning, I checked everything was working. Lo' and Behold, iTunes isn't. I read that a lot of people are having the same problem with iTunes 9. But I have tried just installing iTunes 8.2.1, but this didn't work either.
Each time I click the itunes icon, I get an hourglass, then a lot of nothing. It's there in processes running (iTunes 9 at approx 45000k and 8 at 25000k). But other than that it won't do anything.
The only thing out of the ordinary on this laptop is the Seven Transformation Pack. But I don't see how that would affect the running of itunes.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling many times, I've tried rebooting the computer and trying an older version. And now I've just run out of steam. Anyone have any ideas where to go from here? Please don't say reinstall windows!!!
    Thanks
    Charlie

    Ditch the seven transformation pack.
    +OK, I figured it out.+
+I removed Windows Live Sync from the system. Judging by the registry errors I was seeing when iTunes was trying to sync, it looks as if iTunes 9 has a problem playing nice with other resident syncing utilities.+
+After that I removed iTunes 9 and the went ahead and re-installed it, thusly no longer offering any chance of a sync conflict with (now departed) Windows Live Sync.+
+I wish Apple Support would have told me about this when I called them originally.+

  • Itunes 5.01 still won't work!!!

I was having constant trouble installing 5.0, seems like many other people did too! I was able to install 5.01 with no problem but now itunes won't open! No matter how many times I click on the itunes icon, it won't open. Im frustrated!!!!!!!

    hi Timothy
    b gaah.
okay, those are the classical symptoms of the really nasty versions of the "new 4.9 Norton troubles". i don't recall a Milinda reinstall working for anyone who actually had the CCAP hang and the "asian boxes" dialog. (you can check up on this in the thread containing the Milinda reinstall post ... that's where we collected a few of these cases together.)
we did manage to fix a few of them by upgrading those people to 5.0. (didn't work for everyone ... i don't think poor Beirin has had any joy yet.) but i assume you're already at 5.
okay, there are three threads referenced in here where people have managed to get itunes to launch when they've had a tricky Norton issue (the section is down near the bottom of the first thread, i think):
    b noir, "an itunes/quicktime error first aid kit" #1, 01:31pm Sep 20, 2005 CDT
... just confirm for me that you've tried these three? i've been thinking about an additional technique, but it's a bit drastic, and i'd like to confirm that we've tried the other things first.
    love, b
