ITunes locks up while importing music

While importing from my other Mac via the import button in Itunes my iTunes freezes.
I want to have 2 identical libraries on both machines. In the past also copying was a problem.

Error while importing music in iMovie 11
I have the same error explained in a other post which was still left unanswered
I have this sound problem after reorganising folders by itunes, i tried to delete al files in itunes and also
deleted the xml file in the itunes dir, created new playlists, but still i have no music sound in imovie timeline
after dragging a mp3 into it. When i preview the file in imovie it souds ok.
Also i see the red dot with the number 1 in the itunes logo while dragging the mp3.
Is there a solution for this problem?

I'm having the exact same issue, but still haven't figured out what it is. I note that at the top of this thread it indicates that there are two "helpful" entries and one "solved" entry, but I can't find the solved one, so maybe someone will repost it here or kindly link to it.
There is one icon missing though.
As I read through the excellent tutorial at http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/imovie_09stone.html I scroll down to the point where he talks about dragging music in from iTunes, which is what I'm trying to do. I can see, in his screen shot, the extra little icon that is a red oval and a white "1" in it. I don't get that icon when I am trying to drag my music into the video. I do get the green and white plus icon when I try to drag my music in. Also I DO get BOTH the red 1 and the green plus when I try dragging in a sound effect, which I can do with no problem. But why not the music?
I've been able to drag in music with no problem in other productions, so I can't figure out what is going on with this one. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere that got flipped, but I can't figure out where.
In desperation I also tried adding an extra title slide at the end of my video just to make sure there is more video time than music time in the production, but that didn't help at all.
Any help guys?

Due to some kind of copy protection in iTunes - I don't copy directly from this in iMovie
to my projects. (Most often the result of doing it in iMovie is a DVD without any sound)
I do
• In iTunes - collect needed audio into a new Playlist
• then burn this out as an Audio-CD .aiff (NOT .mp3)
• This CD I copy into a folder on my Mac (often containing other material that's connected to the project)
• And then I drag and drop these .aiff files into my movie project in iMovie.
This works Greatly and even more so when I do my DVD.

ITunes locks up after adding music to library

Using the 7.5 version, everytime I add music to my library via importing from a CD, itunes locks up and I am forced to shut itunes down using the Windows Task Manager. I realize that many are having problems with 7.5, but has anyone had this problem yet? And better yet, does anyone know how to fix it?

There are lots of reasons why this might happen.
One quick thing to check,
Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab > Importing tab
What's your setting for "use error correction when reading audio cds"?
Change it the other way of what it is now, and try importing again.

Itunes 7.2 cannot import music folders or files!

After the updates, I've installed itunes 7.2. However, when I start to import music folders or music files [mp3 and other formats], it doesn't work or try to import the source to the library! It also happens to my CDs and my backup CDs!
What is going on apple?

I am running iTunes version 7.7.1.11 at the moment. You can verify that you are indeed using the most up to date version of the program by going to Help > About iTunes.
When you say that adding files to the library is not working, what do you mean? Is it not recognizing the files, is the application failing to convert the files other than MP3/AAC to a playable format?
Also, iTunes does not move the original media file to where it is storing the library. By default, iTunes leaves the file where it is and makes a reference to it in its library file. You can go into the Preferences dialog box, select the Advanced tab, and select the checkbox next to "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" and click the OK button in order to have iTunes only manipulate files literally stored in its library.
Does that address your concerns?

Lock screen while playing music and charging

I thought recently Apple had made a change so that the lockscreen would show your album art while playing music AND charging at the same time. Right now I'm playing music and charging, but the lock screen shows the battery charging. Is this a change or am I mis-remembering?

That is strange. I do not get album art when the phone is locked and an album is playing. All my albums have album art too. I will reboot and try again, maybe it's a bug in iOS4.1?
FIXED !!! -- I just rebooted my iPhone and now it works. Strange.

New 7.01 Problem: iTunes locking up while scanning for "playback gaps."

Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? When I open iTunes, it immediately begins scanning for "playback gaps" and locks up after maybe 20-30 songs...and it does not consistently lock up on any one song it is scanning.
This is most frustrating: the 7.01 upgrade has rendered iTunes non-functional.
Any help would be appreciated.

I USED to be able to get a playlist or two, I had gotten 5 GB of music back on it by putting 1-2 playlists on, ejecting, plugging back in, rinse, repeat. Now iTunes locked up AGAIN, checked the iPod, NO MUSIC. Really glad I bought this ******* piece of **** two years ago! Totally worth my money!

Oh, so you mean that since you guys released 10.5, (and its now up to 10.6.??) people have had this issue of their iTunes not responding? What the ****. So basically since 10.5 people have had their iTunes not working correctly? Fix this crap.
I already did the LSP check thing, only one besides the apple one are two windows ones that are up to date and should be there. There is no other help to be had. What a joke.

ITunes locked up while Transferring Purchases

iTunes version 10.1.2.17, iPad 3G 64M version 4.2.1
Several months ago I purchased several videos on my iPad. Most worked fine, but one of them locked up the video application on the iPad. When selected, it just went to a blank black screen and does nothing. Now the video application doesn't work it all, it just goes directly to a blank black screen.
I tried everything I can think of, reset, reboot, and I even re-purchased the video in question to see if it would clear things, but nothing worked.
I then tried to sync so I could re-install, but during the sync iTunes locks up on the same video (3 of 10) and even after waiting 24 hours, it was still stuck at the same spot.
Anyone have an idea how to get past this without loosing the other content I purchased?

Hi,
Follow the instructions here to restore the iPad.

After it's restored, you can redownload purchased content. From the iTunes menu bar click Store / Check for Available Downloads then sync the content to the iPad.

Crashing while importing music files.

Every time I try to importa music file (wav) into premier CS5.5 it crashes.
I have put the software in again from the CDs but still it crashes. It will import photos OK still. What is wrong?

I'm confused, so I'll reask the question.
With Premiere Pro closed, can you open the WAV files in Audition, or does it crash also?

ITunes locks up while transfering purchased apps from iphone 4

I have had various issues with upgrading to itunes 10.5. Now that most problems have been solved I am having trouble transferring purchased apps from iphone to library. The process starts but after a few apps itunes locks up. I have to go to task manager to exit. Task manager confirms itunes is not repsonding. Any help is aprreciated. I am also getting the blank page when opening itunes.

An iPhone backup does not contain any iTunes content. After you restore from backup, you must sync or re-download your iTunes content, to restore it to your device.

Error while importing music in iMovie 09 from iTunes 09

Dear All,
I need you help to solve a problem that drives me crazy. I have been working on a new projects for countless hours and had a lot of fun so far. This morning I updated the iTunes software and since then adding music seems impossible. The "+" icon appears when I drag a title in the project frame, but either I drop it in the grey zone and nothing happens, or I drop it on a clip and it is not a background music anymore...
I am desperate! Please help!!!

ITunes Locks up on Import of Music CD

Whenever I attempt to import a CD iTunes ceases to function and can not be terminated from the task list. Must boot the PC to unload itunes.exe which is consuming 98% of the CPU including Kernal

I have been haveing this trouble also. I called and spoke to several people at Apple Care several times over the past few months. Apple Care has given this to "enginering" to try to replicate this. For now I have a didfferent password and no access to my iMatch account.
When I first subscribed to iMatch I noticed things progressively got slower not only in the iTunes Store but on my iTunes. I have a good size library and use it for work, I'm a teacher/pianist/composer, and my playlists are an important way for me to keep track of things.
It has been two weeks, now, that "enginering" has had this. So far no word.
If a friend were to ask me if they should purchase iMatch I would deffentaly tell them to wait till Apple fixes it. I have, the 1st edition of the nano, a shuffle, 2 Macbook pros and an iPhone. In a month I'm getting the 27" iMac. All of that is to say I like Apple products. But this iMatch thing confusses me - and Apple Care.

Itunes has encountered an error and needs to close, while importing music

Can someone please help me? I have been getting this error all week and everything was fine 2 weeks ago. I have done EVERYTHING under the unexpected quits,freezes or launch issues in the itunes support!!!!! What can I do next? I have even "repaired" itunes.

Itunes will not recognize imported music

Help!
Ever since I downloaded the itunes update, which seems to be a popular problem, my music files have disappeared. This includes music I have purchased. The music plays successfully on my ipod, but when I try to play it in itunes, the exclamation point appears and says the file cannot be located. To my dismay, the file folders are no longer in itunes.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled itunes AND quick time as suggested but to no avail. This is a lot of time and money gone, so why did this happen? How can I fix it? Can I prevent this from happening again? AND- most importantly- can I get back the music I paid for?

Sounds like the library file got corrupt or you have moved the files thru windows explorer. It could of got corrupt if you installed iTUnes while antivirus was running or not disabled.

ITunes doesn't show imported music

I'm having an issue where if I import a song or group of songs into iTunes (from mp3 files on my computer already), they don't show up in the list of songs in my library. The status of the import shows as it's importing, but when it's done I can't search of any of those songs, or browse for them.
I tried a few things. I renamed one of the mp3s to a very simple file name, and right-clicked on it in finder and chose "open in iTunes" and it did! It played right away. So I did the old CMD-L while it was playing to see where the heck iTunes though it was living. That's when it pulled up the smart playlist that has the last 100 songs I've added to itunes. But still the song was nowhere to be found in my master library.
Any ideas?

Do you use iTunes Match?
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4543259 - delay of several hours (for some people overnight) for new additions to iTunes to appear in the main library window as a result of using iTunes Match. Things to try:
1) Turn off Match, see if the items appear, then turn Match on again.
2) Drag the items from the Recently Added playlist to the library.
3) Wait until they do appear.
