ITunes logo and usb cord showing on iPad 2 after iOS 8.02 update

I updated my iPad 2 last night with ios8.02.   Immediately after the update, my iPad was frozen with the iTunes logo and power cord.  When I conned to iTunes, the error message says my iPad is set to recovery mode and when selecting the option to restore, the message "Are you sure you want to restore the iPad “iPad” to its factory settings? All of your media and other data will be erased, and the newest version of the iPad software will be installed" appears.
Well, I obviously do not want to lose the last photos of my mother who passed away on July 1st, not to mention the countless things included in the full 64 GB hard drive, so I called Apple support. Their advice was to restore and hope iCloud backup has the data.
I'm on hold right now waiting for a "Senior Advisor" to provide a solution.  I have been on hold for 49 min 58 seconds.
Does anyone have a fixe to this un-vetted upgrade release gaff? Whoever authorized this release needs to leave Apple and apply for a job selling popcorn with the LA Clippers.

Hi,
I had the same problem for the past 24 hours.
I found the below advice resolved my problem completely.
Basically, rebooted mbp, restored iPad from previous back up = iPad 3 back to normal.
Phew...that was a tad frightening !
Hope it helps you....
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
Kind regards,

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • TS1424 how do i remove the picture of the itunes logo and chargin cord from mu ipad? it is frozen

How do I remove the picture of the itunes logo and charging cord from my ipad?  it is frozen! I was going to download the ios7 and this popped up!

The image indicates that the iPad has gone into recovery mode, you will need to do as image shows and use the cable to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes (you will need an up-to-date version of iTunes on your computer) : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync your content to it

  • IPhone just shows pic of iTunes logo and USB cord after updating to iOS7, iPhone just shows pic of iTunes logo and USB cord after updating to iOS7

We were updating one of our iphones and it just shows an itunes logo and a usb cord image on the screen. No matter how much we restart, restart the computer, etc, that's all we get on the phone.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what we do from here?

I'm seeing LOTS of this, both with Mac and PC-based systems. Hopefully Apple is doing something about this issue. We are restoring the other phone now. Not a good thing!

  • Itunes  logo and usb plug shows  ipad crashed

While syncing itunes ipad stopped working...now shows itunes symbol and usb plug.

It is indicating that you have to connect to iTunes - with the cable - and more than likely you have to restore your iPad. Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes if it doesn't start on its own. Read this as well.

If you get no prompts from iTunes when you connect the iPad then you will have to restore.

  • HT4528 Restore failed, Screen shows iTunes logo and USB cord

I tried to restore my iPhone with iTunes and a message popped up saying could not restore. When the phone turns on, the screen shows an iTunes logo, an up arrow, and a USB cord. I have tried restarting and it goes back to that screen.

Place the device in DFU mode then restore it.

  • Atv shows itunes logo and usb cord

My apple tv, when connected to the television, will only show an itunes icon with a usb cord.  I tried restoring by connecting it to the computer through a mini usb but I keep getting a message saying "There was a problem downloading the software for the Apple TV 'Apple TV'. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later." Don't know what else to do.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately many locations are currently experiencing update/restore .dmg server problems, even more unfortunately this has now been happening for over a week, the only thing I can suggest is to try again later. I have no idea whether an Applestore would be able to restore your Apple TV for you.

  • My iPod touch is stuck on iTunes logo and USB cord image.

I just bought a brand new iPod touch two days ago. So I am new at this, I plug the USB into my iPod touch last night to buy and download music and apps from iTunes; it worked just fine. Today, I go to charge my iPod into my computer and put some more music on it. Then, iTunes pops up a warning sign of some sort and says I needed to upgrade my iTunes, I clicked okay while my iPod touch was still plugged in my computer. In the middle of its process, another warning sign pops up and says I needed to cancel the process immedently. So, I did; and now my iPod is telling me to connect my USB to iTunes. And it's stuck on that screen; and my iPod won't show up on my computer nor iTunes, but it makes the "ding" noise when i replug my USB into my iPod.
I tried Apples support searches, and going to Youtube to search how to fix it, but non have both problems at the same time.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP, I'M DYING TO SAVE MY NEW iPOD!
    Thank you,
    Sincerely, Adelina

    First and foremost...
Are you absolutely certain that you're using a USB port that does, in fact, provide power to the iPod?  If there is the slightest doubt, use an Apple wall-mount charger if you have one.  If you don't have one, use a USB port directly on the CPU.  Do NOT use a port on a hub.  Do NOT use a port on the keyboard (which is really a hub).  Charge the unit preferably overnight but a full hour as an absolute minimum.
If you're still having a problem after doing the above, try this.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site.  If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.

  • What do i do if my ipod touch i stuck on a screen with the itunes logo and USB cord?

my ipod is stuck on a screen with the itunes logog and the USB cord picture and everytime i go on itunes to fix it it wont work because i cant unlock the ipod. i have also tried rebooting it but it just makes noise like a camera taking a picture. I need help because i cant find out whats wrong. PLEASE!!

plug your ipod into itunes...it may not do anything plugging it into your own itunes so you may want to try plugging it into someone elses to save the trouble. I had this same problem last week plugged it into my dads ipod and it worked (:

  • My device froze. Did the turn on and home button hold down to reboot, but now it has the itunes logo and USB cord photo.

It is a Touch 4th generation.  My research on this site makes me fear the device somehow cleared its memory of all my stuff.  When connected to the computer and in iTunes, it isn't recognized.
Problems: photos aren't downloaded onto the computer and most recent movie purchase on the device was done since last sync and isn't showing in my itunes account.
Did I loose my photos, videos (I took), and movie purchase lost?  Is there a way to get the iPod to work again and not loose the documents I have on it or are they  really gone?
It was working just fine and then froze.  In the past, I did the reboot and it worked just fine.
    Any suggestions?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Iphone suddenly shows itunes logo and usb

My iphone just showed the itunes logo and usb cord image, without having done anything. How can I recover pictures and data that were in the phone memory?

Before you connect to your computer , if necessary in recovery mode iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore , copy the iphone backup folder to a safe place, in case you need the backup again.
The location of the folder is here:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.
You backup contains pictures taken with the phone and your data and settings. More info here. iPhone and iPod touch: About backups
So, in case your phone gets recognized by your computer, let it restore and use the latest backup to get your data and settings back.

  • Stuck at iTunes Logo and USB

I tried on two Windows Computers to install the new iTunes update on my iPad. Now I am stuck at the iTunes Logo and USB cable graphic.
I tried all the standard reboot stuff. Battery is fully charged. Everything seemed to go well until the very last moment.

    I am sorry.
I did confuse the iTunes part. I have the latest version of iTunes on both my Windows Laptop and HP PC.
    Actually that was the problem.
I successfully updated the new Apple iOS to my iPhone and iPad2. I successfully downloaded (backed-up) my data from my iPhone and iPad to my Laptop.
I successfully updated my iPhone with the new iTunes (version 11) I believe.
THIS IS WHEN THE TROUBLE STARTED.
When I tried to update iTunes on the iPad --- all h**** broke loose. After about 80 tries with just the iTunes Logo and USB graphic showing up on the iPad (including two DSU sessions), I still get a 3014 error.
I have disabled all of my security on the Windows PC (imagine how I feel about that!!!!) and still to no avail. I have tried about 80 times in the last 2 days (no exageration) trying all methods, scouring the NET and Apple Help and still I cannot get past Error 3014.
I was on the Apple Care with two Apple "experts" on the telephone (including a Manager) for over an hour and they walked me through (the same stuff I had tried about 60 times). I still get Error 3014.
I HAVE NOT PROBLEMS with my ASUS Transformer TF300T to access its cloud, its updates, its store and its apps. If Google can do it (work with my computers) why cannot Apple?
Seeing "Error 3014" in my iTunes is so OPAQUE!! My god, I am a sophisticated user ... what is a Newbie supposed to think?
Apple is still in the world of Nerds and Geeks (no offence, I am a Geek too!!). It needs to recognize and by-pass these opaque traps and work with real people who are now the bulk of Apple users.
The bottom line is this... all instructions, help files, responses to my pleas for help all say the same thing: iTunes SHOULD be able to restore your iPad. NONE mention any solutions to by-pass Error 3014 in any simple, practical manner. How is a Newbie supposed to disable his/her firewalls, anti-virus, etc? Too complicated.
