ITunes lost all of my playlists...

Downloaded a song only to see that iTunes has lost all but 8 of my purchased songs in the "Purchased" section of the store.
Also, my playlists have vanished. Any ideas?

Nobody has any idea? How about a support rep from Apple?

  • Updated to Itunes 10 and lost all of my playlists

Can someone tell me how to get my playlists back? I updated a few days ago to Itunes 10 and have lost all of my playlists etc. Is it possible to dump my IPOD library into Itunes?

    Hi,
I had the same problem and indeed in the appliactions I found imovie 9.0.9.
But to make sure all goes well this time, please let me know the next steps.
I opened the imovie 9.0.9.  (1.2GB) and the previous imove appeared. In the updated version, I can now import
    imovie 9.0.0 zip archive (7.9 MB2).
Is this the solution ? And do I have to take further steps to amke sure everything is working ?
Thanks for coming back to me.

  • My iTunes Match automatically charged me for a second year when the first year finished.  In spite of that, I have lost all of my playlists on my iPhone.  How can I get them back?

My iTunes Match automatically charged me for a second year when the first year finished.  In spite of that, I have lost all of my playlists on my iPhone.  How can I get them back?

    Hi,
No need to post three times!
Is iTunes Match still turned on on your iPhone? If not, you need to turn it back on.
If it is still on, go to settings, music app and turn off match- sign out of iTunes Store. Reboot iPhone, sign back into iTunes and turn on match. Poem music app. Does this help?

  • I synced my ipod nano to my library and i lost all of my playlists. Is there a way I can get them back?

I have a ipod nano 5th generation and I just fully synced it with my library. I lost all of the playlists I had on my ipod. I just had those playlists on my ipod and not in my itunes library. I also lost some of my music as well. Is there a way to get all of this back or undo it?

Either call Apple customer services and see  if they can replace your original discs,
or buy a copy of iLife '09 or '11 {'11 doesn't include iWeb, I understand} from Amazon MP (etc),
    or buy them individually from the App Store {iWeb will not be available on the App Store and nor will iDVD}
If you want the retail disc I'd hurry - Apple no longer sell iLife on disc, and prices are starting to rise on Amazon already.

  • I seem to have lost all of my playlists and more than half my songs. How do I get them back? Dont know what I did wrong? Please Help

I seem to have lost all my original playlists and more than half my songs. How do I get them back, where did I go wrong?
If I was to press "restore" does this wipe everything off my library? I always thought that you could never loose songs? That they were always stored somewhere
    in there. Please help,

If those tabs aren't in History > Recently Closed Tabs or Windows then they are probably lost.
You can try to search them in the History if you haven't bookmarked them.
Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting is a more reliable way to restore session data.
    * Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • HT204302 iTunes deleted all of my playlists!

iTunes deleted all of my playlists. Booted up and they had vanished

If you didn't backup your playlists they can't be retrieved if they are deleted, you have to recreated them: iTunes: How to backup and restore playlists
However you could check to see if your original library still exists. Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • Upgraded to iTunes 6 and lost all of my playlists!

    Hello all,
I upgraded from iTunes 4.9 to 6 and all of my playlists disappeared! Everything including my Smart Playlists. I am really bummed about this. Is there any way to recover my playlists from the iPod? I have not synced to iTunes since I upgraded.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    To clarify:
    1. No music files were actually lost, just all the playlists.
    2. I already tried to use the tip about re-importing an old library XML file, but that won't work since no such file exists.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • ITunes lost all of my files on the external drive, thousands of songs.  Is there a way to load them back in without doing one at a time?

I've just updated the lates iTunes, and now it seems to have lost all of my music.  I have thousands of songs on an external drive, none of them can be found...the songs are in multiple folders on the external drive so the media folder to the external folder doesn't fix the problem...iTunes isn't seeing songs that are in different folders with sub folders.  Is there a way to have iTunes discover the music on the external drive to avoid reloading each of them one at a time?

When you first download iTunes onto a PC, it will give you the option to allow iTunes to search for your music. I'd suggest removing iTunes from your PC, connecting your external drive and then download iTunes from scratch. I'm pretty sure if you let it, it will find the music for you.

  • HELP...Sync to PC iTunes Lost all Safari Bookmarks

I just sync my iPad with iTunes 10.0.1.22 using my Lenovo Thinkpad laptop which is running Microsoft Vista and somehow lost all my safari bookmarks on my iPad. What I think cause the problem was I checked to sync my Internet Explorer bookmarks which somehow completely erased my bookmarks on the iPad.
How can I recover these bookmarks which were over 500!!!. I sync to my PC on a daily basis and just backed up my entire laptop so if I can find the file which contains the safari bookmarks, hopefully I can just replace that file on my PC and be back in business. Any hints or suggestions would be really appreciated....

    HI,

    C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari\Bookmarks.plist
Launch Safari on your PC. Drag the Bookmarks.plist file into your Safari browser window.
If that doesn't work, post in the Safari for Windows forum and ask how to import that Bookmarks.plist file back into Safari. http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1188

  • ITunes lost all of my purchased music, will not allow me to re-download

I recently lost all of my purchased music, around 180 songs, out of the blue. This was not a hardware issue with the underlying block device, as the only music affected were recently purchased music.
I have tried multiple times to redownload my purchased items only to find that the download all button becomes gray and nothing is actually re-downloaded. I have tried this on Windows and on my Mac (which i was working on moving my music to) with the same results. At one point it actually re-downloaded one song however none of my other purchased items were downloaded and the "download all" button went grey.....
I am running the latest OSX Lion and the latest iTunes 10.5.2
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Your iPod is designed to sync only one iTunes library at a time.  If you try to sync it to a new library it will replace the contents that are currently on the iPod with the contents from the new library.
So what you'll need to do is copy all the content currently on your iPod to your new iTunes library first.  Then you can go ahead and restore it to factory settings and start syncing it all back over to your iPod from scratch.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different methods available for copying content from your iPod back to your PC.

  • ITunes lost all of its data will my iPad lose all of its data too?

I opened my iTunes then all my music, movies, etc. are gone. I'm afraid if my iPad/itouch will lose all of its data if I sync it to my empty iTunes.

if you do a sync with itunes on your computer before the restore and a sync after the restore (making sure you have set all the the things you want synched turned on) - it should put all of the data back on your restore ipad
when you do a restore (making sure you did a sync before the restore) - check restore from backup not restore as a new device

  • Moved iTunes folder to a shared folder and lost all of my playlists

Any way to recover, I just moved the iTunes folder to the Shared Music folder so that my wife's account on the PC could use the musica as well...any way to find/recover the playlists? If i sync, will it remove them from my ipod?

One cannot move the music folders, rename song files or anything similar outside of the iTunes environment and expect the program to understand what has taken place. You just lose the reference pointers and other music metadata within iTunes.
Move all the music files back where they were, recover your Library and then move the Library within iTunes using the process explained in the link below:

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • ITunes has lost all my music, playlists, ratings and preferences

My stuff is backed up on an external drive, but if I reload it and sync my iPod, I lose all playlists, ratings and so on. Any suggestions as to how (and if) I can get my old prefs, playlists, ratings, playcounts, etc. back? I turned off my computer in the evening, switched it on uneventfully in the morning, went to sync my iPod and was told that it was synced to another computer (not so). Checked iTunes and found that it was a clean slate.

You can redownload them again without incurring additional charges. See this article:

If you are having difficulty downloading them, the itunes Customer Support should be able to assist you in reposting them back for you.
