Itunes makes a funny noise

Hi - I have a new Sony Vaio Laptop that I recently downloaded the most recent version onto. I works fine except for an iritating noise...like a bunch of skips in the music in quick sucession when I 1) Close out of Microsoft I.Explorer (not when I start it up) or when I 2) turn on or off the visualizations when playing music. Not sure if this is an Itunes problem or if it's related to setting on my laptop. I know I have used Itunes for years on my Dell desktop and have never had this problem. Anyone have any ideas...would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

That may be your problem - perhaps the files are 'gapped' via iTunes in such a way that your older app. is not making complete sense of it.

  • Why does my macbook make a funny noise when I open it?

After my macbook pro has been on the charger for some time & I open it up, it will make a funny noise & the screen will be blue with a bar on it.  Takes a little bit before I can use it,  Does anyone know what is wrong?

I quit all applications & close the lid.  I usually use the charger all time.  If I leave it unplugged from the charger, it will not do this.  It will make a whirring noise & the screen will be blue over my background, will have a bar on it like it is loading.  Then will finally let me use the curser after a few seconds.  Only had the macbook for about 4 months.  It started doing this about 2 month after I bought it.
If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them.  Let them deal w/it.
Before calling them, try the following first:

My macbook pro w/ retina makes a funny noise! Some kind of bird sound or water splash.
Maybe once every hour or 2 hours.

Rather than uploading the file, and await our responses, why not take the product back to Apple?  My guess is that you accidentally changed an alert sound but, since you claim you didn't do anything untoward, who knows.

  • ITunes makes metal clicks noises

Sometimes my iTunes makes metal clicks noises when playing music and sometimes it does not. It seems related to an OS update issue. I use the USB audio Editor UA1D interface to listen my music so the bug may only occurs using USB audio. It is really tiny noises but if I pay attention they are hard to miss. Any one as experienced this problem?
I have a Mac mini but I experienced the problem on my iBook too so it does not seem related to the hardware.

Heey, I think I've solved it! It's that damned QuickTime 7. check out this link.

Why is my i pad making a funny noise when i plug it in to charge

Try holding power button and home screen button together for like 10 seconds + as well as keeping it connected to your computer via USB cable.

  • IPod makes a funny noise when skipping too quick..

Anyone else getting a loud 'clicking' noise when you skip too fast thru tracks? It's like it loads a fraction of the track, then pauses while it gets the next one, but instead of pausing, just repeats the fraction of the track and makes a really really loud fast 'clicking' noise for 2 or 3 seconds and locks up while it's doing it. Never did that before the update. Makes me want to throw the phone out the window with that and the battery life!!

I had the same problem last night minus the humming noise. A movie froze on my 5th gen ipod. It remained that way the rest of the night. I couldnt turn it off or, the screen remained on. I tried plugging it into the usb and still nothing. My computer wouldnt even read it. Luckily by the time i awoke this morning it had finally turned off. My guess is to dead battery. So i plug it into my comp and wait about 5 minutes and it finally was read by my computer...
Doubt this will help you at all. Just wanted to share my similar experience.

  • My iphone 4s started to make a funny noise.

Where is the sizzling noise coming from?  Are there any strange smells or any other sounds that are coming from it?

  • ISight makes funny noise

    Hello!
My iSight camera makes a funny noise almost constantly. It goes like "chirp-chirp-chirp". I know what it is: The camera is going in and out of focus all the time. But how can I stop it? I tried to install the latest firmware, but the installer told me it doesn't work on Mac OS X 10.4
Is there any way I can "reset" the camera?
    Thank you very much!
    David

Is there any way I can "reset" the camera? Not that I know, David. The best suggestion I can offer is to test your iSight using the suggestions in How to test your iSight to ensure it is functional. If you can, be sure to check whether your iSight behaves the same on another Mac. If it does, have your iSight checked by an Apple Service Technician. There are no user serviceable parts inside. (The Technician may also want to test iSight with your PowerBook, so take your PB along.)
Here are a couple of less likely possibilities that you can try:
If you do not regularly perform Mac OS X maintenance, try that before testing your iSight.
If you did not update to 10.4.3 via the "Combo Updater", you might also want to try applying the Combo using the method described in How I Update My Mac OS X. Some users have reported that re-applying the Combo Updater has corrected a wide variety of issues.

  • Problem with my iPod classic 160gb - making funny noises, and no download

Hi, At the same point every time i try to put music on my ipod classic 160gb, it begins to make a funny noise, and itunes and the ipod freezes. I have to disconnect it unproperly, and the message "The ipod disk could not be read from or written to", but my old music still remains. So i tried to restore the ipod on my macbook, but i still have the problem.
This is the 4th Ipod classic 160gb i have had, and there has been a harddisk problem with all of them, so this could be the problem, but the funny click-clack sound is new to this one.
Anybody in here have experience with such kind of problems?
Hope to get the problem solved soon.
    Oliver Nash, DK.

Unfortunately, when a hard drive starts clicking that means it's going bad. The mechanism is having trouble reading the drive. Since the iPod is mostly just a harddrive and a battery I have a feeling that this is your problem.
    watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMm6c3fr-fU
about 25ss in is where the clicking starts. If it sounds like that, but softer and more muffled since it is a smaller drive that is being enclosed then I think you might be SOL. Maybe if you're iPod is still under warranty you can get a credit and go for a touch and avoid moving parts all together?

  • Misaligned lid, funny noises!.. among other things

my lid is beginning to slant and this is most evident when closed....
i never throw it around or anything and i have a proper laptop backpack for it. i never place anything on top of it... i have had my mac for a bit over a year now..
    is this under warranty???
also... my computer makes a funny noise (like the one it makes when i first turn it on...) every time i open the lid... or wake it up from sleeping...
also... the bottom is beginning to discolor and actually warp in such a way that the battery sticks out a little... this is not effecting the running of either the CD/DVD player or the usb ports... as far as i know
my screen is also flickering for a third time! i have had both the LCD panel and the logic board replaced
i am very, very annoyed with this and would like some solutions or a new computer... what am i entitled to?

oh, by the way my computer is still under warranty.. until 2010....
    Please help if you can...

  • Funny noise and wont accept cd´s!

I used a mini disk on my macbook and since then, when i turn it on makes a funny noise.
Also, it wont let me put any other cd´s in anymore. It feels blocked or something.
Is there anything I can try at home to fix it or should I bring it in?
I bought my macbook less than a month ago, but will my mini disk mistake cost me money now or would I still be covered by the guarantee?
    Help! Im desperate!

Per the above article, damage from inserting non-standard discs is not covered under warranty.

  • IPod  won't turn on and makes funny noises...

My iPod won't turn on. When I try turning it on it starts making a funny noise, almost like when a cd player tries to read the cd and can't but keeps trying to. Then the apple picture shows up and after a few seconds it goes blank. It is out of warranty and this is a replacement for another one I had that the hard drive crashed on. Sometimes it goes to the "Do not disconnect" screen or the folder and exclamation point screen. How can I get this fixed or is it not worth it? Will Apple replace this one too?

It is pretty easy.I called the customers service for the questions. An officer asked me:"Have you ever put some songs into your Ipod?" "Have you ever safely remove youe Ipod form your computer?" I suddenly realized I sometimes did not remove it safely.
I think you may meet the same problem. What you can do now is to push both the "Wheel" and "Menu",and keep pushing for 6-8 seconds. It will restart, and you will see an apple in the middle of the screen.

  • Funny noises, beachballs and application hangs (MacBook Pro 2010)

    Hi,
My late 2010 model 17 inch MacBook Pro frequently makes an odd noise (seeming to come from the left side) when I am using it.  It sounds a bit like a click or a whirr (or both); if this happens application I am using will often hang for seconds to a few minutes, before the noise recurs and everything goes back to normal.  It is quite irritating!
Interestingly, the Finder itself doesn't crash and I can switch to other applications; these also hang if I try to use them but all is restored when the noise happens again.
The most obvious app is iTunes, which will stop playing music when noise happens then restart as soon as the problem rectifies itself.
Any suggestions as to what this could be?  It's been happening for years now and my machine still seems ok
    Thanks

You have a failing hard disk   BACKUP YOUR DATA IMMEDIATLY. Assuming you are using an MBP with a physical disk and not an SSD (which is most like the case for a 2010 model MPB)  then the clicking noise you are hearing is the HDD equivilant of a stroke.  The reader head hits a piece of "interesting" data, flips out, smacks against the axle of the disk, and then the disk has to spin up again,  causing the application hangs.   When the disk is going through this, no data can move in or out.  The reason finder still works is that some data is pre-loaded.  You may still have functionality for a few seconds even after the disk quit working.  Since these are tiny blips in data, the finder still works.   Applications, which are constantly passing data, hang and wait for the data.    Usually, if you go into the system.log file, you will see a stack of I/O errors stemming from the disk/sector in question.    Again, BACK UP YOUR DATA IMMEDIATLY and take the laptop to a genius bar.
The Whirring noise you hear is probably the disk moter spinning up during this process.
