ITunes Makes Songs Disappear!?

I have created an iMix with songs that I have purchased from iTunes. Low and behold some of the songs do not appear in my iMix. Why is this you ask? The songs I purchased from iTunes have completely disappeared from iTunes. What are they trying to pull here? Singles, EPs, parts of albums all gone. . .

Content comes and goes from the iTunes Store all the time, without warning. It may be that Apple was unable to obtain the missing tracks (or at least some of them) from the record company in iTunes Plus format and so the tracks were removed when the iTunes Store officially went "all iTunes Plus" a couple of weeks ago.

  • ITunes playlist songs disappear when selected to play

iTunes playlist songs disappear when selected to play - ie double-clicked, or clicked once and then play selected. The song doesn't play although there is a brief 'flash' of something at the top of the screen where you would normally see the song details mwhile playing.
The song is not deleted from the library but is still missing from the playlist when iTunes is restarted.

I just recently upgraded to iTunes 9 and have found that some songs (18 of 750) will no longer play. I get a couple different error messages, one saying iTunes cannot find the URL for the song and another saying iTunes cannot find the file for the song. I hate to pay for these songs again since I already purchased them from the iTunes store, but I don not know what other options are available. Has anyone had this problem and if so, is there a way to fix these songs?
Usually that occurs when the file, or one of its containing folders, is moved, renamed, or deleted. If you remember doing one of those things, see if you can put it back the way it was. Otherwise, search on your hard drive for the song file, and re-add it to your library.

  • Itunes purchased songs disappeared !!

    Hello,
first and foremost I would like to begin by saying I am not the smartest person when it comes to computers! One Friday morning,I opened my itunes program and noticed that my play lists, and "purchased" music was GONE. The weird thing is that the songs in my itunes library that I imported from CD's are still there. I have never transferred any of my songs onto folders, they were only accessible thruough itunes. I am really confused and sad because thats $150 I just lost!! thank YOU in advance!!!

Failing that, if you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: Customer Service - iTunes Store Support

  • Why is it that whenever I download a song from Itunes that a small grey round button appears next to the song (apparently this is the download progress button), but when I press on it to resume, the song disappears. This wasn't happening before.

Why is it that whenever I download a song from itunes that a small grey button appears next to the song (apparently this is the download progress) but whenever I hit it to resume, the song disappears. I am getting annoyed with having to copy the songs manually onto my phone. Thanks for anyones help. Cheers

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Songs disappeared - iPod not recognized in Windows or iTunes

Hi, I have had a 5th generation iPod for 8 months now and have a big problem:
After I charged it in a wall plug, all the songs disappeared from my iPod. It has happened to me once in the past but the songs then reappeared... don't know how that happened. Now, songs are all gone and Windows and iTunes won't recognize my iPod. I have reset it and since then, the screen keeps changing from the main menu to the Apple logo and then back to the main menu. My iPod will then be recognized in Windows for a few seconds, while the main menu is displayed on the screen, and then disappear. I have put it into disk mode and only then will Windows recognize it, but not iTunes. I have then restarted the iPod Service via Computer Management but once I reset my iPod to remove it from the disk mode, it continued changing from the main menu to the Apple logo. Since the problem seems to be with my iPod and not with iTunes, I have not tried to delete iTunes and reinstall it.
    Thanks for your help!!

  • Old laptop crashed, tried syncing it into new one but half my songs disappeared. No I got a new ipod and another new laptop. How do i get back my lost songs and make sure it all ends up on my new ipod?

I had a laptop that had over 2,000 songs in my library but it crashed and my ipod could only hold a little over 1000. Later, when I got my new laptop, I synced my ipod to it only to have all my songs disappear. I did the itunes media folder thing and only got about half of my songs back (some from CDs, some from the itunes store and some from amazon downloads). I hadto get a newhard drive for my laptop and now i have a new ipod. So how can I getback my old songs and then get ALL of my songs tranfered to my new ipod?

    Hello Chris,
Thanks for your answer. I was hoping for an easier answer. Too bad there is no drag and drop solution, it would have been much easier.
    Thanks for answering so fast.
    Bye.

  • I just installed itunes on new computer and songs disappeared from Ipod

I just reinstalled itunes on a computer that had a bug and was cleaned up and cleared out.  When I reinstalled itunes and it sync'd all my songs disappeared from my ipod. how do I get them back

    That is correct.
You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything abck on the coputer, then you would sync them to your ipod.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer, njot good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

  • HT1206 what happened to my iTunes library, it disappeared except for the purchased songs?

What happened to my itunes library it disappeared except  for the purchased songs?

By being gone do you mean the library is not in your Pictures folder or when you open the library you don't see any photos or thumbnails?  If it's the latter apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Can you make songs blend together like on ITUNES?

I was wondering if there was a way where you could make songs blend together when you have the ipod in shuffle mode. on I tunes you can select an option where it blends the end of a song and the beginning of the next. but I can't seem to find the feature on the Ipod. Can anyone help?

That feature is for iTunes only. There is a way of blending tracks together in iTunes by using the "join cd tracks" feature in the advanced menu of iTunes when you import the cd. This makes the cd one long tack, but this doesn't work when using shuffle mode.

Okay, I don't know what I did, but all of my songs disappeared off iTunes. I think I was able to locate most of my CD's that I had downloaded, but anything that I had purchased is gone. What went wrong, and is there some way I can reinstall all of my songs?
Also, if I connect my iPod to my computer will it take the songs that are no longer in iTunes off of my iPod?
    Thanks!

  • All itunes song on ext disk drive - try shuffle - songs disappear

I have all of my itunes songs on an external disk drive. When I put in my new second gen. shuffle, most of songs disappear. I eject the ipod and re-boot and all of the songs are back. I have tried another second gen. shuffle and the same thing happens. Thoughts?

I'm wondering if you're getting a windows drive letter confusion when the shuffle is plugged in. (If the drive letter for the external changes, then iTunes would not be able to track the song down because it would be looking for them on the wrong drive.)
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
(The issue doesn't just affect iPod connections ... see the link through to the Microsoft article for a bit more detail on the possible symptoms with other hardware, like external drives.)

I deleted songs in my iphone on the music app but when I sync with the computer the songs disappear. How can I delete songs on my phone but keep them in iTunes?

I use iTunes Match so I can't confirm this on my computer (my Music tab looks different), but as I recall, on the Music tab you have the option to check to sync selected playlists, artists and genres, and then check which playlists you want to sync below that.  Then, like songs, you would uncheck the playlists you don't want on your phone and sync to remove them.
