Itunes Malfunction

Recently my itunes just stopped working, and now when I click to open it an error pops up sayin"Itunes connot open because required files are missing. Please re-install." So I went to apple.com to download most recent itunes and when I try to install it another error and says "A later version of itunes is currently installed, installation will not continue. What can I do?!?!

My iTunes malfunctioned as well. It just randomly stopped working. I got: Insufficient system resources to execute the desired task. (Different working, but exact same meaning)
I haven't come upon a solution as of yet.

i think the problem with my itunes is that the quicktime file is screwed up. i tried removing it on add/remove programs, but it doesnt work for some reason. any possible ways to fix this problem? i also tried downloading quicktime separately, but that didnt work either.

do you get an error message when you try to uninstall QuickTime, shirish? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.

  • ITunes malfunction: Can a non-savvy person (Me) survive in the age of constant downloads and upgrades?

hello, I just updated iTunes, right after I burned a new CD, and now when I try to open it, it says: The file “iTunes Library.itl” cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would you like to download iTunes now?" So I did, but it keeps saying that, along with: Unknown error --42408.  Itried to download iTunes a second time, thinking maybe something happened, but it said my software was up to date (except the part, clearly, that won't let me open it!)
Thanks to anyone who can offer ideas.

Thank you for your responses.. To Sjazbec, At least you guys in Germany and the Netherlands have some kind of  posters from Apple to let you know that the feature is not available.
There is no such warning on the Irish Apple site.!
My point was that, I would not have even considered trying to reorganize my itunes library had I known that the feature is not available in Ireland.
And that falls into the domain of Apple Ireland advertising.. which I"m sorry to say is false and misleading.
There are no "posters" telling the Irish customer that icloud / itunes music is not available!
I"m not blaming Apple for not "having the feature" in Ireland.. I am upset at them for falsing advertising a feature that they cannot for whatever reason deliver to Irish customers..
To Keats 2010 LOL... Trust me there were lots of clouds in Ireland today!.. It's a long time since we've seen the sun!.. As for getting your head around the basics.. I could talk you through everything that doesn't work in Ireland if it's any help lol

  • ITunes Malfunction! Help!?

Ok, so I started my iTunes today and it asks me if I want to add all my MP3 and WAV files to my iTunes library. Me, thinking it ment all files from the my music folder, agree to this and then, before I know it, iTunes has put every single piece of sound it could find on my PC into my iTunes library! Snippets from games, miscellaneous audio files, the lot!
Now I would like to know how can I fix it, without having to go through all the pieces of sound and using the two click delete system...I've already tried reinstalling my backup disk, uninstalling and re-installing iTunes and a system restore.
Any help solving my problem would be very, very welcome.
    Thanks in advance!
P.S. Your solution can involve having the entire iTunes library wiped, as I have a fairly recent backup disk with me.

The nuclear option would be to delete the whole iTunes folder. Since iTunes copies files into the iTunes Music folder leaving the original intact this might be acceptable to you. iTunes should create a new empty iTunes folder and library when you next open iTunes. (assuming you have copy to iTunes music folder checked in Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced, otherwise it just uses pointers to the original files)
Then you can add just the music you want using FIle>>Add folder to library.

  • ITunes Self-Shut Down

I was usingiTunes and it shut it's self down after one of my playing tracks started skipping then and error came up and siad, iTunes malfunction, Send Error Report, Don't Send. I chose to send the report and nothing happened then I went back onto iTunes and found that the money I had in my account was gone...all of it. Can anyone help me?
It was also money from a gift card so I tried to re-redeem it and it said it already was redeemed so now I don't know what to do.

    That sounds like malware.
Go do an ewido scan. It is catching a nasty Windows problem that Norton and mcAfee and other are missing, that messes with iTunes.
    www.ewido.net/en/
That is classic malware infection behavior: something works and then suddenly stops. You might want to curtail your instant messaging, a common source of infestation.

  • Crashing on iTunes

This is a new occurence on a machine that has run Windows Home Premium and iTunes for a long time.
Inevitably after working with music files or simply reorganizing playlists, the message pops up:
The iTunes Library File cannot be saved. There is not enough memory available.
Then it crashes and has to be taken down by Task Manager. This is a reasonably equipped machine with 6GB RAM. Plenty of processing power, 64 bit, AMD quad, so I am confused about "memory" being an issue.
    Anyone else have this?
    Thanks!

  • ITunes crashing on Macbook fixed by reinstalling QT

We just solved the iTunes crash problem on a MacBook by testing QuickTime, which is linked with iTunes performance. When launched, QT crashed as well, so we reinstalled QT and we're now up and running - no more problems. Hope this helps someone.

  • Windows XP displaying Blue screen of death!

I just bought an iPod Classic last week and installed iTunes 8.1.1.10 and have had nothing but problems since day 1. The software *****, it ***** up my processor, freezes, and suddenly started crashing my system. i'm getting the BSoD and I am NOT on Vista. I am running XP Pro. Now I'm getting windows popping up saying that my computer can't find vital system files. This all started when I installed iTunes 8. PLEASE HELP! I backed up all of my important information onto an external hard drive because I am scared to lose my data because of this crashing. It seemed to start happening after i cleared my library out a few times because it was uploading 2 versions of some songs because my playlists were store in My Music. I moved the playlists and tried to resync my 3,000+ song library and my computer got the BSoD. I got one error the first time that said KernelStack_InpageError. So I rebooted, cleared my library, then set it to reload my music library into iTunes. Worked ok, then started to resync my iPod and it crashed again. It seems to keep happening when I try to sync a large number of songs at once, so I tried doing 1-2 letters of the alphabet at a time, which worked for a while, syncing 1-300 songs at once. Then my computer crashed for maybe the third or fourth time when syncing the S's. I'm sick and tired of this blue screen and my computer crashing and I don't want to be afraid of losing my data or my laptop. I'd really appreciate ANY help anyone can offer me.
    Extra specs:
    iPod Classic black
about 99/120GB free (nowhere near being full)
both iPod and iTunes running the most up-to-date software
If you need any other info, let me know
last few times I tried to sync, iTunes malfunctioned and had to close

I have a similar problem, except I can't even get to a command prompt or any sort of stopping point b/c my computer keeps restarting after it hits the BSOD. My usb-based keyboard can't stop the process either for some reason, so I can't get into the bios or the safe mode. I can't do squat except watch the blue screen over and over until I just unplug the **** thing and swear a lot. This all started happening right after the reboot following the install of iTunes8, so I gather this is the culprit (and, besides, a ton of folks out there seem to have the same problem). I don't even have an iPod or iPhone, so it's not that synching issue. If this is a way to get people to throw out their Windows PCs in frustration to buy Macs, then that's just a really malicious move. The only other way I see it is that this is another terrible deployment of an iTunes software update for windows, so what happened to reliable beta testing? Either way it ***** ***** *****. Can I just have my computer back please?!
Any tips on how to break the cycle when the keyboard doesn't function; and then how to resolve the BSOD issue after that? I miss my turntable.

  • Why won't my audiobook play on my Mac?

So I downloaded a book in iTunes, but I can't get it to play.  Any help???

I downloaded the same book from the iTunes store and it won't play at all.  Even made sure I upgraded to the newest available version of iTunes and downloaded it again. Then made sure I was using current software on my 6th gen nano.  Didn't work either way.  Is the code for this book messed up or is it an iTunes malfunction?

  • No digital signature

I can't download iTunes as at the very end of the Download, it reports the software has no digital signature, even though it has come from the official website. Also, Internet Explorer and iTunes malfunction each time I try to access iTunes store in the old version. Currently I have no iTunes and £300 of i-Touch, very fed up. Please help!!
P.S. have tried download with antivirus software off- no help, same error occurs when I try to dwonload 64 bit version.

How are you connected to the internet? I have a wireless router, but I can plug my laptop directly into the cable modem, for example.
You could also try downloading from a friend's house with a different ISP, esp if you're using one of those USB dongle things for internet connection.

  • QTSS Publisher not allowing me to upload anything

I am trying to use QTSS Publisher to upload movies for streaming. When I log in I get an error about being not able to make a folder because I do not have admin privileges. Our server admin has given me full rights and I still can not do anything with QTSS Publisher. I also have a server that I can use to experiment. I am able to publish to it with QTSS Publisher, I am the only user on that server. Is the admin the only one that can publish with QTSS Pub.?

  • CS5 Fireworks as crappy as all the CSs... help!

First, Adobe apps are the only ones to freeze my 16GB, Phenom Black, 64-bit, 6TB, ATI Radeon HD 5970, twin 28" DVIs monitor computer. When Fireworks loads it would give the error 'Your user priviliges do not allow Fireworks to update your registry, Launch edit with Dreamweaver (I am actually trying to launch Fireworks CS5) will NOT work properly until Fireworks is launched while using Administrative privileges'
There are no users setup on this computer everything I do is as the administrator... I tried to set up one user and give it 'superman's' privileges... it makes not difference.
I uninstalled CS4 - that made everything worse. I tried Corel Draw it's horrid, I am trapped in 'Ground Hog Day' by Adobe.
Has anyone had this problem. It also seems to appear that Adobe and Apple are actually sorting out their crabby issues ON MY MACHINE - since iTunes malfunctions if I run and Adobe app first. So I do not use iTunes unless I reboot.
But can anyone help me with this error - please. Fireworks will not load.
I thought that Windows 7 Home Premium, the best machine, would prevent any app from hanging the computer - Adobe has found a way to do it - and I have to rebuild, reboot etc. plug out etc.

I don't know whether or not you found the solution to your problem but here's what I did:
    1. You said that you're using win7 so this should definitely work
    2. Just right-click on the application file and go into the properties
    3. Click on the "Compatiblity" tab and check the "Run as administrator" checkbox.
    That's it!!!
However if that doesn't work, you'll have to redo step 2 but instead click on the "Security" tab and change all the permissions (for all users) to "Full control" by clicking the "Edit..." button.
The point you made about Adobe's CS products is rather pointless though, because it's been over a decade and the only apps that can compete with a program like photoshop are not even worth it. Corel has a steep learning curve with limited (well, not enough) tutorials, Microsoft's Expression Design is crap software compared to GIMP (which was great until CS4) and everything else sucks! The monopoly that Adobe has created for itself is well deserved, especially sice they are always fixing bugs when reported and providing updates almost as much as Microsoft Windows (which becomes annoying but, unlike Windows, is tolerable).

What if you have a situation where Restore did not work. I do. The ipad mini says it is disabled, connect to itunes. When connected, it says that it is locked! I have tried using Recovery/Restore but after it completed, the ipad mini still malfunctions. It does not allow you to start the device. The slide image keeps dancing around the screen. The opening page keeps changing in size and the keyboard types on its own! What can be done to fix this????????

Maybe a reset would help, to be followed by trying the recovery again.
To reset, hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.  Then do the recovery.
If this doesn't solve it, I recommend visiting an Authorized Apple Service Center.
