ITunes Match and gapless information?

I've got a bit of troubles with iTunes Match, some more annoying than others... Of course like everyone some of my songs were uploaded instead of matched (but not that much) but I can live with that. I have 2 other problems though that bother me more:
- one is  the fact that some songs were wrongly matched, so I get another version of the song that don't fit with the album I'm having (for example the Pulse Live from the Pink Floyd, some songs seem to come from another live and the whole album is then worthless)
- another one is that gapless information seems not to be synchronized, so all the albums that I've downloaded from iCloud and that should be gapless are just not listenable.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Any tips?

Hey David,
I've done some more tests and I've finally nailed it down. You're gonna have the problem also on your iPhone/iPad. What's happening here is that you add new files to your library and the gapless information is calculated. When those songs are 'matched', the versions you're gonna get on your devices are gonna be different from the ones on your computer but the gapless information is gonna be the same, so of course it's not gonna work. The solution is to delete the files from your library locally, but to keep them in iCloud first. Once this is done, you can download the iTunes Store version of the songs, then you'll end up with the same on your devices and your computer. But doing this will not trigger the gapless information calculation. To do it, you have to the files locally AND from iCloud. The songs entries have to disappear completely from iTunes. That is stupid because you're gonna lose the ratings and the play counts, but it's the only way to get the gapless information correct. Then you add back the files, and run iTunes Match. Your information is gonna sent to Apple, and when you download the songs on your devices, gapless is working flawlessly.
It should help.

  • ITunes Match and Song information remaining on the iPhone

Is any one else experiencing this issue?
I am using an iPhone 4, running 5.0.1 and using iTunes Match.
I either stream or download a song from the cloud on my iPhone and then delete it from my device.  After it is deleted, I connect my iPhone to my Mac and go to the Music folder under the device on the left hand side of iTunes. The information for the streamed and downloaded songs remaing on the device.  I looked at the available space before and after a test I did on my iPhone for what I think is a potential bu in iOs 5, and while the songs were deleted on the device the information remains (ie. song name, artist, kind, etc).  This information takes up space on the device, even though it is just text.  In addition, the songs that were streamed and downloaded to the device are shown greyed out, they are not selectable , and there is no way to delete them without a restore.  Also, if you download the same song multiple times (ie. 2x) , the information is shown 2x.
The funny thing is, this does not happen on my iPad 1.
I tried calling Apple about this and their solution is to restore the device and or they do not seem to understand the problem.
Please let e know if anyone else is experiencing this as well or if there is an actual solution.
    Thank you.

    Hi mdr1976,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You can use iTunes Match to access your entire iTunes library on your computer and iOS devices.
You can access your iTunes library on your Apple TV using Home Sharing, which is why it only works when your MacBook is turned on.

  • ITunes Match stuck @ "gathering information..."

    Please help
I've just paid my subscription for iTunes Match and I can't get past "Gathering information about your iTunes library". iTunes gets to the the end of the progress bar and then sits there. I've left it running for the best part of a day and have tried 2-3 times now. My library contains 11,848 songs (119GB) so I assume it's nothing to do with the 25,000 song limit. The iCloud status says "waiting" for every song in the library.
I'm running iTunes 11.3.1 on a Macbook Pro.
Just an observation to Apple Support - I have purchased a new product (Match) but there is no mechanism to get support for this product that I can find - am I missing something ?
Can anyone please help me ?

  • One account for itunes match and one for all the rest?

    Hello everybody
I was wondering how to use an Apple ID for iTunes Match and other for iCloud and backups. I found an article on the website that said that you actually can do that, but my question arises when I find out that now I only use one ID, all my apps are in there, along with my iPhone backups and stuff. So, if I create an ID for subscribing to iTM, will I lose the ability to update my apps on the old ID?
    Please help!
    The article is: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895
    Cheers

I know, but I can't use my credit card on my iTunes Store account, since it's a US ID. What if I change the country of my ID? How often can I change it? I was thinking of changing it, purchasing iTM, and then changing it back... can I do that?
    Thank you

I purchased iCould recently, but all my songs don't show up.  I updated iTunes Match and turned it on, but they're not there.

I still cannot see all the music; some I downloaded and some I purchased.  For example, I downloaded two CDs by The Band Perry; one is on iTunes and one isn't.  I purchased iTunes Match before I changed computers so I could transfer it all to my new machine without have to load CDs again.  I also purchased some songs that are no longer there.
I looked at the article you referenced and have completed all the recommended steps.  I have authorized this computer and updated iTunes match.  Is there any way to recover the music I downloaded, as well as purchases I made? (I purchased Viva la Vida by Coldplay and it's not on my iTunes.  There may be others, but I haven't noticed any others specifically.)
    Very frustrated....any help is appreciated

  • HT4914 i subscribed to itunes match and i can't get it to come up on my apple ipad mini....help

I subscribed to apple itunes match and for some reason it won't load onto my ipad.  Do anyone know how to get it to download

    Hi,
If the tracks were not in your iTunes library on your computer when you subscribed to match, I am afraid that they are lost. Do you have a separate back up of this music?

I subscribed to iTunes Match and would like to sync my music on multiples devices that have different Apple IDs within the same iCloud family.
Can someone indicate the way to proceed?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can't use family sharing or multiple Apple IDs with iTunes match.
ITunes match is only attached to Apple id that you used to subscribe.

  • HT204406 My HDD crashed which held all of my music.  Can I recover the music from iTunes Match and download it back to a new HDD?

My HDD crashed and it contained all of the music from which iTunes and iMatch pulled files from.  Is there a way to recover the music from iTunes Match and download it back to my new HDD?

My computer HDD did not crash only my external drive with the music files.  I have not had to reinstall iTunes software.  The iTunes libarary is still complete and shows the complete list of music.  I have also ran Update iTunes Match and all of the music is on the cloud.
I cannot play the music from iTunes that is on the cloud, however the music I purchased from iTunes did download and it will plan from my computer.
The matched or uploaded music is what will not download and I can't find a command that allows me to download from Match.
Sorry if I'm not being very clear, however I do really appreciate your help and suggestions.

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • Connect 2 iPhones with 2 different apple ids to the macbook for updates and backup through iTunes match and iCloud. How can i make that happen?

We have a mac book pro and 2 i phones 4S. We both have different Apple Id's. But we would like to connect both phones to the mac book in order to update photos and itunes match. I subscribed with my apple id to itunes match and it automatically updates apps, music, books etc. However the apple id of my husbands phone is not recognized so his music, apps etc are not automatically updated. The same happens with icloud.
How can we make the mac book recognize both phones?

I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered
    Go here > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
Manage your Apple ID and see if that does the trick
    Hope that helps

  • Itunes match and icloud

Hi infortunetly like many people i have put all my eggs in one basket and am beholden to what ever Apple tells me what i can and cannot do with their products. When i bought the new iPhone 5 and updated I had a really hard time putting music into it through Itunes after an incredibly painfull amount of searching i realised i had to turn off match which now as we know I lose the ability to share my music through Icloud for all my respective devices. when I went to turn it (Match) back on after completing the import of hard copy music to my drive on my iPhone. Match and/or Icloud tells me it's going to remove my entire library is this true. I like to listen to my music all the time as many of us do. If i am at my cottage fairly remote No internet No cellular data service etc. how will i listen to my music if its in virtual world. does anybody understand what im trying to convey.

    Yes, it's completely confusing.
Some people (and Apple) like things to work automatically in the way Apple thinks you want to use them but many of us would prefer more manual control and would like to mix syncing of audio with cloud services.
I haven't updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 6 yet but from what I've read different recent OS versions have worked a little differently when it comes to iTunes Match and the cloud some offering more control over the content than others - I must admit to being thoroughly confused so hopefully someone will provide you with a definitive answer (for now).

  • ITunes Match and playlists broken in iOS 8

Since updating to iOS 8 I can no longer add songs to playlists from my phone (I have iTunes match).  When attempting to add a song sometimes it gets stuck in the add screen and does not show a "done" button to press or if I add one, it just doesn't add it to the playlist.  I can however add songs to the playlist from my mac and it will show up on my phone like normal, just unable to add from my phone.
Other iTunes or music app issues are songs not showing up where they should.  I had a song that downloaded from a pre-order, I changed the genre to one of the main genre's I use (like normal), added it to a playlist, and now that the entire album has become available and has downloaded the first track is not able to be found through either genre (either original or my own altered genre) or artist although it still shows up on the playlist.
One more thing about adding songs to a playlist on iOS.  I was glad to see that one of the buttons on the bottom (in the add screen) is playlists now as an option to add a song but if you edit the buttons on the bottom and move genre down there, it doesn't stay put.  It's back on the "more" screen each time.
Here's a suggestion to any apple folks if they're reading this, besides fixing the things above, how about from the song playing screen when you press the + button that an option is to "add to playlist".  When you click on that it brings you to your playlist view to select a playlist.  It's a pain in the butt when say you're listening to a song on shuffle, want to add said song to a playlist so you have to back out of the song playing screen, find the playlist (for which I have multiple layers due to playlist folders) click the add button, find the song (after you move genre to the bottom again) then click on the plus sign, hit done, make sure it took it, back out of the playlist view to get back to Now Playing.  For people like me who take advantage of iTunes Match and have a lot of music in their libaray, Genre and playlists are the easiest and quickest ways to find what I want to listen to and at times it's not very efficient.
Thanks for your considerations and eventual fixes.

iTunes Match has this problem with almost every iPhone software update. It's unfortunate that they cannot track down the issue. Hopefully this is not indicative of Apple's expertise when it comes to all cloud services. Music, photos and personal data are things that are important to all of us and we spend many hours on custom playlists, personal photo albums and are putting our trust that the work won't just disappear. iCloud drive is another promised feature and it's becoming tougher to trust a new free service when long-standing issues on a paid service cannot be fixed. I want to remain optimistic but so far, iTunes Match is not helping.
On a positive note, the playlists on my Apple TV matches perfectly with my iMac and was working well on my iPhone 5S. The update to iOS 8 on the 5S did NOT cause the playlists to go out of order. I have only seen this issue on new iPhone 6's and iOS 8. Also, moving playlists in and out of folders in iTunes on a Mac seems to be a temporary fix that only lasts as long as you are logged in – Signing out of iTunes Match on iOS and signing back in brings back the problem… which *****.

  • ITunes Match and iCloud accounts are different.

I bought my mom this iPad Air 2 for Christmas and I'm trying to get it so that she can have access to my iTunes Match account. I made the account on my AppleID so I can control the library for them. When I first set up her iPad, all her pictures and stuff were there. Then I changed the settings so that she could access the iTunes Match account, it still is using her AppleID for her iCloud but now it's my AppleID in the iTunes for the iTunes Match access and her pictures are no showing up anymore.
I'm SURE there has to be a way for iTunes Match to use my ID for that and still load all her pictures from her AppleID from her phone... right?
I should clarify, on my AppleID I don't have any apps, nor do I have an Apple product, I only signed up for an AppleID so that I could use it to get iTunes Match and control the playlists for them and everything. So she's logged in to her AppleID for iCloud and logged into my AppleID for the iTunes Match account. The pictures are all gone now though.

It stays on your phone until you delete it.  If you download a song, album or artist, you can delete them by swiping across the title and tapping delete.  If you play a song without downloading it, it is stored in cache memory on your phone.  As you phone starts to reach full capacity, older and less frequently played songs begin to automatically be deleted from cache.  Or, to remove them all, occasionally go to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipe across All Music and tap Delete.
