ITunes Match and iPod Nano Syncing Question

I recently subscribed to iTunes Match.  My son and husband still have iPod Nanos.  How do you sync the nano with the iTunes match?

I subscribed to Match because the USB ports in the laptop where my iTunes playlists resides are toast - do not work.  I could not sync my iPod to it.  So I thought if I subscribed to Match, I would be able to access my playlists with my other laptop.  I have iTunes installed on my other laptop and the USB ports work!  I also authorized my other laptop for the account.
So I thought "great - I'll access my original playlists with my second laptop and connect my iPod Nano and sync it to the second laptop and it will load my playlists on my Nano".
Nope - I get nothing.  I have it set up to sync automatically - didn't work.  I tried to sync manually - it acts like it's syncing, tells me it's done and there is nothing on my Nano.  Help?!

  • ITunes Match and iPod Classic sync problems

    Hi all,
I've recently signed up to iTunes Match and use iTunes on my Windows PC (at home) and MacBook Pro (at work). I also use an iPod Classic which I sync with the Windows PC.
I've had an issue which has happened a few times when I sync. I think the problem occurs when iTunes is open on both the PC and the Mac, but I'm not sure.
When I sync my iPod, it increments play count, and updates the recently played playlist as normal, but every now and then, I am asked to sign back into iTunes Match, and when I do that, all play counts from the ipod sync disappear. The Recently Played playlist also no longer has songs played on the iPod included. However, on the "last played" field, the correct date and time of when the song was played in populated.
The iPod is where I listen to music most often, and I would really like to keep the play counts up to date, but I can't figure out what is happening.
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas if I can resolve this?
    Thanks.

The same thing happened to my iPod. It shows that it has no songs, but when i checked the iPod's memory, it was using the same amount of space as before (i had 52 gb of music, now it's just 52 gb of... nothing).

  • ITunes 7 and iPOD Nanos Freezing

We have had an iPOD mini for a couple of years with no problems.
This week we bought 2 nanos as presents for family members.
We had to download iTunes 7 to talk to the new nanos - since then it has been a disaster.
iTunes can take 5 minutes to start and frequestly hangs or freezes. iTunes doesn't see the nanos or mini without reseting the iPODS each time - even then it can take 2 -3 minutes to see the iPOD. We have tried Apples 5 R's (Retry, restart, re-install, restore, reset) - but no luck.
The PC is an HP Media Center PC (Athlon 64 3500) Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. We have HP Tunes intsalled - I have tried to uninstall but get error message saying we need to update to latest version of iTunes - which we have (7.0.2.16).

It sounds like you have to do a reinstall of both iTunes and QuickTime. Others here are better at explaining the process than I am, but I'll give the overview: Uninstall them both and back up your music library, just in case; you shouldn't lose any of it by uninstalling, though. Then, start fresh with the QuickTime 7.1.3 standalone installer:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html (select the second option for JUST QuickTime)
...and then proceed with the iTunes 7.0.2.16 installer:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
The general consensus, in my view, is that installing QuickTime and iTunes together from one setup file (which is typically the case for most people) causes issues with some computers. Try QuickTime by itself, then iTunes for some better results.

  • 3RD GENERATION IPOD NANO SYNCING QUESTION.

I have a 3rd. gerneration I Pod but for some reason it will not sync. my library on I Tunes to the I Pod. I have tried restore but it will only sync. 1 album.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hello Filbertfox,
    Are you getting any errors?
Have you verified that Sync Music > All Music is checked? Or have you tried syncing a different, single album?
Have you recently made any changes to your PC? New security software, Microsoft's updates, new hardware, etc?
Are you using the Apple branded USB cable or a 3rd party cable?

  • Syncing iPhone and ipod nano toi the same iTunes

I have an iPhone (16GB) and and Ipod nano (4GB) and about 9GB of content in my iTUnes. IS it possible to sync both these to the same iTunes library on the same pc. All the iTunes content is on the iPhone but it is too much for iPod nano. I use the two for different things for eg: the nano has nike Plus on it and I also use it for gym etc
in Effect, can you have 2 different libraries to sync with different ipods on the same PC and iTunes

Yes, you can use multiple devices with one library, I use 2 regular iPods and a shuffle (I have a friend who syncs both an iPhone and a Nano, she syncs each with it's own separate playlist). You can for instance have one sync the entire library and another sync a selected playlist or playlists. iTunes recognises each device that is connected and they can each have their own individual settings: There are several different ways to use multiple devices with one computer, you can read more heres: How to use multiple iPods with one computer

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • New Macbook Pro, iTunes match and syncing with an iPod classc??

    Hi,
I recently bought a MBP and I have iTunes Match, so my itunes on the MBP contains my music 'in the cloud'. I also have an iPod classic and want to sync it to update it.
If I plug it in to my new macbook will it sync with 'itunes match' and update with new songs that I've downloaded?
I thought I might have to download all my music from Match to the hard drive of the macbook, but as there is 25gb it is going to take days!!
Does amnyone know what i should do?
    Thanks

You'll need to switch off iTunes Match on the device & sync the iPod with iTunes as hopefully you've kept all your music on your PC.

  • HT1351 I have an ipod nano synced to an old laptop.  Recently upgraded to a new laptop and want to sync the ipod to the new laptop.  How do I sync to the new computer?

I have an ipod nano synced to an old laptop.  Recently upgraded to a new laptop and want to sync the ipod nano to the new laptop.  How do I change the sync to the new laptop?

If you have access to your old laptop (and it's still working), ideally, you should transfer your complete iTunes library from your old PC to your new PC.  If you can and want to do it that way, please post back.
Otherwise, iTunes syncing is generally in one direction, from iTunes library to iPod.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library.

Can someone indicate the way to proceed?

    Hi,
You can't use family sharing or multiple Apple IDs with iTunes match.
ITunes match is only attached to Apple id that you used to subscribe.

  • Stupid question re iTunes match and family sharing

So, here is my dilemma...we have a large family and a ton of os devices--iphones, iPads, apple tv's, iMacs, MacBooks, etc.  Up until now, we have set everyone up on the same apple id, which has been crazy--my and my wife's phone ringing with the kids' FaceTime calls, me not being able to sign into iTunes match because there were too many devices associated with our account, and so on.  Now, wit the upgrade to iOS 8, my wife's phone is ringing when I receive calls and vice versa.  So, I was looking into the family sharing, but am not sure how that affects iTunes match.  I want to keep my iTunes match, because I have a huge music library and enjoy being able to listen to my music anywhere.  I guess my questions is, what is the best way to set up my accounts now?  Keep my apple id for my iOS devices, and set everyone else up as a "family member" under sharing with them having their own apple id's?  If so, what does that do to my iTunes match library?  can I keep iTunes match and still have family sharing on?  I don't care if I can share my music library with everyone in my family, but what I do care about is that I don't want to lose my access to iTunes match and my entire library, some of which consists of songs downloaded 7 years ago.  I know it's a stupid question, but as much as I've read and searched, I still haven't found the answer to my question.  Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Sounds very bad... you can try this, create a account for each member of the family, delete all products (leave all your devices as new) and put the accounts in the devices again, for example, this iPad is from the kid, put the Apple ID of the kid in her iPad, after, this iPhone is from your wife, put the Apple ID from your wife in her iPhone. But remember, the purchases save in the Apple IDs when the family use before, for change the purchases contact with Apple.
