ITunes Match and Playlists on iPhone - not syncing in correct order

Is anyone having problems with iTunes Match and playlists on their iPhone?  I normally have my playlists sorted by date, however, on my iPhone it is showing up in random order and not exactly like the playlist I have created on my computer. I wasn't sure if I need to change any settings or anything or if this was a glitch.

Please Please PLEASE DON'T reset your iPhone if you get this issue
As has been mentioned before try this first - connect your iPhone:
1) Right click the iPhone icon in the Device list on the left-hand side of your iTunes window
2) Click on the Reset Warnings entry
3) Click on your iPhone icon in the devices list and look at the main window, then select the Applications tab
4) Make sure you tick the Sync Applications box and select All Applications
5) Press Apply in the lower right hand corner of iTunes
6) Press the Sync button in the same position
You should get a warning that there are apps on your iPhone that should be backed up into iTunes. Select OK and your iPhone apps should be backed up with the rest of the Sync.
MAKE SURE NOT TO CHECK DON'T SHOW WARNING AGAIN!!!
I bet this is usually why people run into this problem, as we assume that it will do it automatically but it doesn't.

  • Installed new itunes update and now it will not sync with outlook

installed new itunes update and now it will not sync with outlook. it says it will only do it through the Icloud. How can i change it

    Hello xtremejoe
I find that changing some settings in your syncing options will get syncing working again, like enabling Manually manage music and videos.

  • ITunes Match and playlists broken in iOS 8

Since updating to iOS 8 I can no longer add songs to playlists from my phone (I have iTunes match).  When attempting to add a song sometimes it gets stuck in the add screen and does not show a "done" button to press or if I add one, it just doesn't add it to the playlist.  I can however add songs to the playlist from my mac and it will show up on my phone like normal, just unable to add from my phone.
Other iTunes or music app issues are songs not showing up where they should.  I had a song that downloaded from a pre-order, I changed the genre to one of the main genre's I use (like normal), added it to a playlist, and now that the entire album has become available and has downloaded the first track is not able to be found through either genre (either original or my own altered genre) or artist although it still shows up on the playlist.
One more thing about adding songs to a playlist on iOS.  I was glad to see that one of the buttons on the bottom (in the add screen) is playlists now as an option to add a song but if you edit the buttons on the bottom and move genre down there, it doesn't stay put.  It's back on the "more" screen each time.
Here's a suggestion to any apple folks if they're reading this, besides fixing the things above, how about from the song playing screen when you press the + button that an option is to "add to playlist".  When you click on that it brings you to your playlist view to select a playlist.  It's a pain in the butt when say you're listening to a song on shuffle, want to add said song to a playlist so you have to back out of the song playing screen, find the playlist (for which I have multiple layers due to playlist folders) click the add button, find the song (after you move genre to the bottom again) then click on the plus sign, hit done, make sure it took it, back out of the playlist view to get back to Now Playing.  For people like me who take advantage of iTunes Match and have a lot of music in their libaray, Genre and playlists are the easiest and quickest ways to find what I want to listen to and at times it's not very efficient.
Thanks for your considerations and eventual fixes.

iTunes Match has this problem with almost every iPhone software update. It's unfortunate that they cannot track down the issue. Hopefully this is not indicative of Apple's expertise when it comes to all cloud services. Music, photos and personal data are things that are important to all of us and we spend many hours on custom playlists, personal photo albums and are putting our trust that the work won't just disappear. iCloud drive is another promised feature and it's becoming tougher to trust a new free service when long-standing issues on a paid service cannot be fixed. I want to remain optimistic but so far, iTunes Match is not helping.
On a positive note, the playlists on my Apple TV matches perfectly with my iMac and was working well on my iPhone 5S. The update to iOS 8 on the 5S did NOT cause the playlists to go out of order. I have only seen this issue on new iPhone 6's and iOS 8. Also, moving playlists in and out of folders in iTunes on a Mac seems to be a temporary fix that only lasts as long as you are logged in – Signing out of iTunes Match on iOS and signing back in brings back the problem… which *****.

  • Itunes match and physically on iphone

I've recently tried iTunes Match and I am finding out that when I sync my iPhone 5 (IOS7) to iTunes it does not put any music on the phone. It says all of it is accessable from the iCloud.  Is that true?   I can't have it on the phone too.  I have to use the Cloud.  What if I am not near WIFI, I need to use cellular service$$$.   How can I just use my phone like and ipod?

    kevin
Yes that is true.  If you don't want to use cell service $$ to listen to your music then you need to download your tracks while you have wifi service.
Once the songs are on your iphone they will always be there and you can play them in any mode, including airplane mode.
    Just the  standard imatch offer.
    Cheers

  • ITunes match and playlists

    Here is what i have:
Brand new iTunes library with custom playlists, purchased iTunes Match then iTunes is doing its thing uploading, matching and so on for 2 hours , after everything is done all files in custom playlists gone, if I click in the root on  Music all my music is there but songs references in the playlists is gone ( empy custom playlists)
    Need help, thanks

When I first signed up for match it took around a day to get all of my custom information set up. I'd give it a day or two and see if they show up. Also, I'm not sure why sometimes it helps to plug your phone in and do a sync (actual cable sync not over wifi).

  • Updated to iTunes 10 and now iPad will not sync on PC Windows XP Pro

I updated to iTunes 10 earlier today and now my iPad does not register at all in iTunes Devices pane when I try to sync it. The iPhone 4 syncs perfectly. Do I just wait for Apple to sort out the problem with iTunes 10 or what do I do please.
    THANK YOU.

I had the same problem after upgrading to iTunes 10, but I'm running Windows 7. The iPad was being detected by Windows but not by iTunes. My iPod would sync with iTunes OK. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes alone did not fix it. I fixed it by performing the following steps:
    1. Uninstalled the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver from the Universal Serial Bus controllers section in Windows Device Manager (this will only be displayed if the iPad is connected to the PC). I also selected the option to 'delete the driver software for this device' - this may be different in XP, I cannot remember.
    2. Uninstalled iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update, Bonjour and Quicktime (basically, ANYTHING Apple related) using Windows Add/Remove Programs. Your iTunes library files and media SHOULD be unaffected by uninstalling but I made a backup of mine first JUST IN CASE. They are usually located in your 'My Music\iTunes' folder.
    3. Made sure 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple' and 'C:\Program Files\iTunes' had been deleted by the uninstall routines. I also deleted the Apple related folders in my local profile. On XP these will be in 'C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data' (you may have to enable to option to view hidden files and folders). The folders I deleted were called 'Apple' and 'Apple Computer'. Renaming them will have the same effect if you are nervous about deleting them.
    4. Rebooted the PC (why not, eh?).
    5. Downloaded the iTunes installation file (iTunesSetup.exe) from the Apple website. Installed it.
    6. Launched iTunes, all my music, podcast subscriptions etc were preserved so I did not have to use my backup from Step 2. Connected my iPad. The device driver was installed by Windows, the iPad appeared in iTunes and I was able to sync OK.
I can't say for sure which of the steps above was key to fixing the problem, but hopefully if you do the same it will resolve your problem. Good luck!

  • Itunes 10 and ipod touch 2g not syncing

    Hi,
Upgraded to iTunes 10.0.1 and Ipod Touch 2g OS4.1 and now my Ipod won't sync with my MacBook Pro. It gets a few stages through and either hangs at the backup stage or the calendar/contacts sync.
I tried a full Ipod erase and restore, even as a new iPod - didn't work
Any other ideas. Anyone else suffering this?
    Thanks!

I am having the same issue. I have an iPhone 4 with the most recent software...it was fine when I synced it yesterday (on my Macbook Pro). Today I updated my iTunes, plugged in my phone, and I got nothing. It's charging...it just won't recognize my phone. Weird, huh?
I haven't tried to restore it yet though. I can't stand losing text messages sent between backups...so I'm hoping I can wait this out and not lose those messages...

  • Messages do not sync in correct order.

One of our Blackberry users is experiencing the following annomoly, for example:
An e-mail will be delived to Outlook at 10:00am. The user will reply via Outlook at 10:05. A little later once the Blackberry handset has syncronised wirelessly the sent e-mail will be shown as sent at 10:05am but the original incoming e-mail is list as 10:07am.
Making it look like the e-mail has been replied to before its recieved. This only happens on the handset and not the outlook inbox.
    Has anyone experienced anything similar?
we use the following if it helps:
    Handset: Blackberry Curve 8310
    BES 4.1.6
    Outlook 2003 SP3
    Exchange 2003 SP2
    SQL 2005

The date and time listed in the Messages list is the date and time the message arrived based on the device's time.  The actual time the message was sent can only be viewed in the opened message.
You might want to check the device's time settings.  Make sure it's set to use either Network or BlackBerry for its time.  If it is, try changing it, and update the device's time while you're there.
Go to Options --> Date / Time, scroll down to Date/Time Source and hit [Space] to set it.  Then, hit [Menu] --> Update Time.
Yes, I realize that doesn't actually answer why a reply which had to have been sent after a message came in shows up before the message it replied to, but that's all I have!

  • Not all albums are syncing with between itunes match and iphone 5.. WHY!!!

Not all albums are syncing with between itunes match and iphone 5.. WHY!!!

First, disable iTunes Match on the iPhone. Open the Music app and let the content clear out. Now, in iTunes, disable iTunes Match while holding down the Option key (Shift for Windows). Quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, and re-open it. Turn iTM back on and let it complete it's scan. The songs that are "waiting" ought to get converted to "purchased," "uploaded" or "matched." Once the scan is complete re-enable the service on the iPhone.

and i want my music back,
    so much thanks

After the first install of iOS8 my iPhone5 locked up with a picture of a cord connected to a device linking to iTunes.  After taking my iPhone5 to the Apple Store, an Expert was able to get my phone operational again.  However, when I returned home I found I no longer had options in iTunes to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5.  I suspect that ITunes does not recognize my IPhone any longer.  For the past 1.5 years I have no problems updating or syncing my iPhone…it was only after I upgraded to iOS8 last week.

  • HT201269 Now that I installed Match and icloud I tried to sync my ipod and the previous songs that were on my lap top in itunes that i copied from CD's will not transfer over to my ipod.

Now that I installed Match and icloud I tried to sync my ipod and the previous songs that i transferred to my lap top from CD's will not transfer to my ipod.

    That is correct. This
iTunes Match on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    says:
When you enable iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and replaced with your music in iCloud.
Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device.
