ITunes Match can't get past Step 1 since Mountain Loin OS upgrade

Been using iTunes Match (ITM) since it lauched with no issues. Since upgrading to Mountain Loin, ITM just keeps invoking Step 1 every few mins and then quits after the results are returned from Apple. I tried turning off Genius and ITM and then only turning ITM back on with the same results. Anyone else had this same issue and found a resolution to this problem?

I spent 4 hours on the phone yesterday with Apple support on this exact issue. Apparently ML corrupted my iTunes library. I had to get a senior tech at Apple to remotely access my Mac to walk me through the fix, which required moving my iTunes files around, as well as doing a complete re-install of ML.
My iTunes Match still acts a little buggy, but a least I'm able to access my music. The only way to solve this issue IMO is to get Apple support to assist you the way I described. Don't waste time talking to a low level person, because they won't know how to help you (unless they're getting so many calls on this they've sorted it out). Also, since this is a ML issue, you won't be charged.

    I bought iTunes match as soon as it was available here in Austria. At first it worked fine. Then I imported some new songs. After that it has never been able to get past step 1 (gathering data on your media library). My MacBook was running more that 24h for several times, still I couldn't get past step 1. I can't and won't have iTunes open more than 24h in one session since I need to be able to work with it. What am I supposed to do?
    Maybe relevant: the iTunes genius-process also can't finish since I imported these new songs.

    I know a lot of people are having trouble with getting past Step 2 at the moment in iTunes Match, but I was just wondering if anyone else was having troubles getting past Step 1? Last night, even just trying to match one song, I was stuck at Step 2, but this morning, it's not even getting past Step 1 (when it had always previously done this very fast), just saying "Sending information to Apple" forever! Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this. Thanks!

    I have the same problem. Neither Genius nor iTunes Match will get past Step 1. They have worked in the past so there must be some hang up with added music or a change in the backend.
    I have tried deleting iTunes Library Extras.itdb and iTunes Library Genius.itdb, and while this does cause the process to restart it doesn't allow it to complete.

    It is syncing through everything and then failing to close out. If I disconnect then the libraries are all there although I have lost a movie and a few tracks downloaded as a result of this.

  • CAN'T GET PAST STEP 8 SETUP CD

    I have a WRT54G router. After a couple of months I started having problems accessing the internet. I started all over again, installing the router rom scratch. However, I can't get past step 8 of the installation process. The setup program prompts me for a password. I enter "admin" and it starts checking for computer settings. After it reaches 100%, it prompts for the password again and then the process start all over. It never stops asking for the password.
    I try to exit, but I get a message saying "installation incomplete". HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

    You had a password setup on this router when you initially setup this router. You need to provide that password. If you don’t remember the password then you may need to hard reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back for 1min and then try again. This time it should accept the admin password.

    Let's start with what you are trying to install. Adobe Reader is free, so it won't be forcing you to buy anything. So
    - What are you trying to install (full name, please, Adobe make lots of things)
    - What system (e.g. Windows 7, Mac OS Lion, iPad...)
    - Where do you go (what web address) to start off?
    - Why were you "forced" to do this?

    Very strange.  Two items to try:
    a.  Enable iCloud Status and iCloud Download fields in Song view, sort on status and look for any 'waiting' or 'error';
    b.  If (a) looks good, establish a new user account, create an empty library and enable iTunes Match, confirm that this provides access to all Songs and is working well.
    These are seeking to ensure both no bad Songs or local Library corruption - both are relatively quick.

  • My iTunes Match won't load past step 1; All songs in my library say "Exceeded Limit", even the ones that were uploaded before.

    My iTunes Match hasn't been working for a couple of days. It said I had exceeded the song limit, so I was going through my library and clearing out some songs. When I deleted the songs, the box that asked if I wanted to delete them from the cloud wasn't showing up. I decided to update my iTunes Match before deleting anything else. When I attempted the update, Step 1 moved incredibly slowly, then stopped working before reaching Step 2. When this has happened in the past, I have been advised to try several troubleshooting tactics from the support forum and from writing to Apple support in the past. The first one is to turn off iTunes Match, restart the computer, and turn on iTunes Match again. I did that. The same problem occurred. I tried the second trouble shooting tactic, which was to turn off iTunes Match, close iTunes, find the iTunes Library Genius.itdb and iTunes Library Extras.itdb and move them to the trash, then run a Repair Disk Permissions using Disk Utility, then turn iTunes Match back on. I tried that. The same problem occurred. I went to my iTunes library to see the iCloud status of my songs, and every single song was listed as not being in the cloud yet and had the "Exceeded Limit" status, even the songs that have been in my cloud for over a year. I checked a few of the forum topics here on the support site. One suggested opening up iTunes while holding down the Option button, creating a new library, then turning on iTunes Match and deleting songs from the cloud that way. Then open up the original library and turn on iTunes Match. I did that. The status of my songs hasn't changed, nor can iTunes Match load past Step 1. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

    Maybe I didn't explain it properly, but that's one of the things I described trying in my first post. It helped get songs out of my cloud that I didn't need there, but iTunes Match still couldn't get past the first step. Last night I deleted the iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes library Genius.itdb, iTunes Library.it, and iTunes Library.xml files from my computer, entered Time Machine, and recovered those same files that had been backed up after the last time I added music (the time the problem began.) After recovering those files I opened iTunes and turned Match back on. For some reason, it worked, even though those were the files that existed when the problem initially occurred.The combination of having songs removed from the cloud as well as restoring those original files must have done something, but I have no idea why that fixed the problem.

    Been trying for days but it just gets to "Waiting for Apple to deliver your iTunes Match results..." and then stops and allows me to press the Start button again to start the match process.  Sometimes I get error -3231.
    I've called Apple and they want $19 to solve the issue even though I paid the $25 for Match.
    I've turned iTunes Match off.  Turned Genius off.  Logged out of my iTunes account.  Quit iTunes.  Restarted. Logged back into iTunes account.  Turn Genius on.  Turn iTunes Match back on and let it go through the process again with no success.
    My library has a couple hundred songs less than the 25,000 max but it is pretty large.  Had the same issue when I tried with a smaller library some time ago.  I've created a new library and have the same issue.

    You should consider rebooting your internet router
    Then try holding option key whilst turning off match. Close iTunes and then reopen. Turn on iTunes Match and select add this computer.

    What setup screen? I have restored from a backup several times and the iPad always syncs when the process is complete. What are you seeing on the setup screen?

  • Can't get past step 2 of Migration Assistant

    I am trying to transfer files from my iMac to new iBook via firewire, TDM. When I select the User in Step 1 (Me), and select Migrate Files and Folders in Step 2, continuing on to Step 3 never shows a volume to choose from. I can'c continue from there, the button is greyed out.
    It says at the bottom in red that there is -13.5GB space remaining, so I am assuming this is the problem. I think it thinks I want me entire iMac transferred, because there is nothing on the iBook yet. I've only been using my mac for a year so I am still not sure of everything.
    Mainly, I want to transfer some iPhoto albums, iTunes, and iCal. I tried dragging some programs from the iMac Target Disk to the same app in the iBook but it didn't show up. I am not sure what file to pull over for the iTunes music and likewise for the photo's. I was hoping Migration Assistant was going to walk me through it.

    Yes, I figured it would take awhile to burn, but like I said before, the burning icon stops moving after a long while, that's when I check it's status, and it tells me that "idvd is not responding"...
    And yes, after I got this dvd burner installed, now I can see that Patchburn program on my desktop, although, I'm not quite sure if I need to do anything on it since the idvd is reading the burner...
    And about my project,
    well, my project involves 6 short videos...
    and all combined they are most definitely less than 60 minutes...
    (all combined they are about 30 minutes, at the most.)
    They were created in Final Cut and then I exported each of the 6 videos as Quicktime files then saved them in a folder specifically for them...
    that way, I thought, I could just import them from idvd straight from that file without any confusion or problem...
    Also, I don't know if this would matter or not, but I have Final Cut 2, and that program is on the system 9, (so I have to restart my computer to get there of course) so after I do all the importing and exporting on Final Cut and save my quicktime files in the folder and such on the system 9, I then restart my computer back to the system 10, and from there I fixed up my idvd project(like the menus and music and such) and then I imported my quicktime files on to my project...
    so my question is, would the whole different system thing be what's causing the problem?
    Should I make my videos as quicktime files on the system 10 instead of the sys 9?
    Also, as I mentioned before...I installed another internal hard drive...
    and I'm saving all my videos, quicktime files, and my idvd project on there...
    does it matter that I'm saving it all on the "extra" hard drive?
    or do I have to work out of the original one?
    (I know this may be a stupid question, but I'm just trying to ask everything that I was thinking could be the problem)

    still doing it, with one noticeable difference - the checkout told me that the address didn't match the credit card and i had to re-enter the CC info. Once I did that it went to step 4 and stayed there again.

  • Can't get past home page of instructables after upgrading to firefox 13

    I can load the home page, but if i click on anything past it, it acts like it continually loads, nothing comes up on the page, it sticks at "Transferring data from www.instructables.com..." or "Read www.instructables.com" it seems to only have happened after upgrading to firefox 13. I have an old version of firefox aurora that came with the tor browser suite and tried instructables on there. worked perfect, and i was going to instructables on a regular basis before the update, so it's gotta be from the update right? what can i do to fix it?
    P.S. It's not just the specific URL under "URL of affected site" because none of the pages will load after the home page.

    did that solve the issue? i still believe it has more likely to do something with faulty cache (maybe the restart of the browser really triggered it );
    if it was an issue with dns prefetching it would be rather strage since you already were on the domain instructables.com & wouldn't have had to resolve the domain for the subsites again. and since the server, your isp or your local hardware might not support ipv6 fully yet, it can always cause some glitches too...
