ITunes match cloud question

All these songs from the cloud are taking up all my space on my iPhone. I'm using iTunes match. Is there a way to send the music back to the cloud after I'm done listening to it so it won't use all my storage?

Even when you download from iTunes Match, the content remains in the cloud, so you don't so much need to send it back but rather just delete it.
Swipe and delete, will work on individual tunes, albums and artists.

  • ITunes Match/Cloud on 2 machines, question

    Hello,
I put 60GB of music on my Macbook onto Itunes Match/Cloud.
I have an iMac that serves as a back up for my Macbook, and therefore it has the exact same music
When in iTunes on iMac I want to add it to Cloud but it starts scanning the music (in the iMac). So Im wondering if it will try to add the music on the iMac and therefore duplicate on the Cloud/Match what I already have there which is the same exact music on the laptop (which remember I back up on the iMac)
    Your thoughts?
    Thank you

Basically there's no need to worry that having the same song on two different computers will result in a duplication of songs in the cloud. It could happen but the circumstances are likely to be rare. If you bought the music from Apple or another online retailer (like Amazon) or if you ripped a CD and copied the ripped CD to the other computer, there's almost no chance you'll get a duplicate in the cloud.
    For the curious....
If the song on your iMac came from one source and the song on your MacBook came from another, and if they were significantly different (by whatever metrics iTunes Match uses to match songs) it is conceivable that the two might get duplicated. The good news is you can look through your library once matching is finished and if you find dupes you can selectively delete them from the cloud (and computer).

  • ITunes Song File Will Not Upload To iTunes Match/Cloud

I have two song files that are failing to upload. Both files play fine. I have tried creating new AAC files. I have reimported the files from the CD using error check. I have turned off iTunes match and turned it back on, I have deauthorized the computer and reauthorized it. Other files on the CD imported correctly and uploaded. I have tried adding both files one at a time. One file is 6 MB and one file is 4.5 MB.
iTunes Match gets to step of uploading the file, hesitates, stops and restarts the process. Thanks for any suggestions,
    Ken

    Hi,
These are 2 song files imported from 2 CDs using iTunes as AAC MP4 files. All the other songs on the 2 CDs have uploaded to the iTunes Match cloud with no problems.
Importing one of the songs as MP3 (4.5 MB became 4.1 MB) worked. However, when I repeated the process with the second problem file, iTunes Match again fails at the upload step. Seems to be random, but your suggestion worked for one out of two.
Thanks. Can anyone think of anything else to try?

  • Song Version Control in iTunes Match Cloud

Singer/Songwriter loaded rough versions of mixes to cloud with iMatch; now fully mastered versions in iTunes are changing names (files remain intact, but name/info changes). How can we replace/manage the versions available in the cloud?

    Hi fasking,
If you take a look at the following article, there should be an option when deleting the local file for whether or not you want to delete the copy on iCloud:
iTunes Store: How to delete songs from iCloud

To delete an item from iCloud in iTunes
From a computer with iTunes Match enabled, open iTunes 10.5.1 or later on your computer. You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Click Music on the left side of iTunes.
Select the item you would like to delete. Right-click the item and then choose Delete.
You will be asked to confirm this action.
If the item you want to delete exists in iTunes on your computer as well as in iCloud, click the checkbox to also delete the item from iCloud.
It's also always a good idea to have a local backup of any files you are concerned about keeping:

  • Download all songs onto macbook from iTunes match cloud.

I just bought a macbook pro, i would like to download all my music from itunes match onto my macbook but don't want to manually select the cloud for each song. Is there an easier way to download them all?

This is not the best or most efficent way to get your music onto your new Mac. The best way is to copy all your personal content from an origional computer or backup archive. These Apple KB articles can help you:

If you insist on downloading from the cloud simply highlight all the tracks you want, right-click, and choose "download."

  • HT4914 I have about 60,000 songs. Can I buy more space in the iTunes Match cloud?

I bought iTunes Match for my music library. I have over 60,000 songs and iTunes only allows 25,000 songs to be stored. Can I buy more space now? Will they be increasing the song limit sometime? I saw that the Amazon song cloud can keep up to 100,000 songs. I hope Apple increases their limit soon.

If you're deleting all of them, use ctrl-A to select all, then right-click and Delete.
If you want to delete a range, click the first one, scroll down and shift-click the last one. Then delete.

  • ITunes Match renewal question

When my iTunes match automatically renews, will the payment be taken from my account balance or from my credit card?

    Hi,
Once match completes its scan of your library on your computer, the icloud status for tracks will be matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, waiting or duplicate. The last three will not be in the cloud.
All tracks will be unchanged on your hard drive unless you opt to delete and replace with a matched version.
After you turn on match on your devices, all tracks in the cloud will be available to stream. You can download them of course. If you add new tracks to itunes library on your computer, match will automally scan and update that library. Those new tracks will eventually appear on your ios devices and you can download them. There is not automatic downloads for matched content.

  • My downloaded song from iTunes match "cloud" cuts into the next song half way though the song

This happens on most of my songs that are not bought on iTunes. The uploaded copies are great they play fine untill you download them to anything. Then problem i have ocurrs. The problem is that half way through a downloaded song it cuts into the next song, while still telling me that the first song is still playing.
I have tryed deleting then redownloading the song onto multiple divices like my iPhones, iPad but the song is still only plays half.
well i hope someone can help fix this it's realy is annoying

Fixed it....after searching here and seeing that there was a pretty widespread problem with that whole Kelly Clarkson album.
My song was an imported MP3 from my CD.  I deleted it from the cloud and then locally on my PC I "Created AAC version".  Then reupdated iTunes match. Now it plays fine.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match / Cloud problems

iTunes match says you can have up to 25000 tunes but when i access my music on my iPhone i only have about 21000 from my library available and there are definately tunes/albums missing that i know are in my main itunes and no reason why they would not be available in itunes. The message i get in my iTunes is i have reached my 25000 limit,i have about 38000 in my itunes library (quite a few duplicates). also iTunes doesn't appear to work now on my phone , when i click into anything it appears greyed out as though i cant listen/purchase it and itunes then freezes up,is this because it says i am at my cloud limit?.  Has anyone else experienced these problems.   Thanks

Nevermind! I feel ridiculous but I've found the solution and... It was simple. In my settings, under music, I had it set to only show music downloaded onto the iPhone. Ha..

  • Post iTunes Match Artwork Question

I ran through about 10,000 songs in my collection and got them up to the cloud via iTunes Match.  That all went well.  Except I'd say about 2,000 of them don't have any artwork.   I'm going though and changing that, but hat's on local files.
Once I change them, how do I go about getting the version of the uploaded file up there with the art?  The only way I can find is to delete them locally and from the cloud, and then readd 'em and re-run the match.   Is there a way to delete a track from the cloud and leave it locally?  If I could do that, I could re-run the match without having to destroy my local metadata like playcounts and things like that.

I've noticed that if I simply Store/update iTunes Match from within iTunes and then view the album on my iPhone, the "updating circle symbol" in the top left where the wi-fi symbol is will start to spin.  It takes a bit, 30 seconds to a minute, but eventually my album art will appear.

  • HT1349 iTunes Match/Cloud error

Just subscribed to the iTunes Match but for several songs I got an "item not added error occurred" message. Many of them are songs I purchased in iTunes. Any ideas on how to restore those songs?

  • ITunes Match streaming question?

I'm thinking about purchasing an itunesmatch subscription, but I have one question.
I want to play songs on my iPhone, but I don't want any physical data to be stored on my phone.  There is very little space on my 16 GB iPhone 4S. When streaming songs, do I have to download them?  I have seen many debates over this issue.
    Thanks for your help!!!

    Hi,
itunes is looking for the link to your library that is on your external hard drive. This is the reason for your issues.
I suggest that you create a new itunes library for use whilst the external drive is not attached. Close iTunes then hold option key whilst reopening iTunes. Select craete new library, then turn on match, select add this computer. Once process is complete you will see you music that is in the cloud and you will be able to stream your music.
When your ext drive is attached, hold option key when opening iTunes, select the original library.
