ITunes Match colapse in step 2

When I add new songs to itunes and update itunes match the process freeze in step 2 when almost check all songs except 1 or 2

Same boat here. Tried three times over the weekend, each time it claims to have processed 10908 items (out of 11023 in my Library), 0 items remaining. No progress after that, though iTunes has been uploading several hundred K per second for the last several hours. Maybe it's uploading my unmatched stuff? Who knows?
Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in their cloud strategy overall if they can't get even get music matching working in a reasonable amount of time. It's been in beta for a couple months, shouldn't be this slow, definitely shouldn't be this uncommunicative about what it's doing.
At the very least it should indicate that everything's going ok and eventually it will complete. Right now I simply have no idea if it's working or just caught in an endless loop.

You've tried tapping on the Collections button at the top of the bookshelf to see if they are in a different collection ? If not then do you have a copy of them in the Books part of your computer's iTunes library (though PDFs aren't iTunes purchases, if you've done 'transfer purchases' whilst they were on the iPad then they should have copied over) ?
ibooks and PDFs aren't included in a device's backup, so if they aren't in your computer's iTunes library and/or you don't have your own backup copy of them then they won't be on your computer (for info there isn't an iBooks app/program for a Mac or PC).

  • ITunes Match stops after step 3

    Hi,
I am not able to finish the iTunes Match workflow. Step 1 & 2 are going through successfully, but when it comes to step 3 (loading graphics and songs) it sometime is loading a few articles and then stops. The button on the bottom right corner change to "Start". when I start it again it shows the same behavior and I am not able to finishing the process.
Any help or hints would be highly appreciate
    Johannes

I am having the same problem. I have 6000 songs that are waiting to be uploaded (they are all unprotected 256kbps AAC files). When iTunes Match reaches step 3, it seems to upload 1 or 2 songs and then stops. Sometimes it doesn't upload anything. What is going on?

  • Itunes crashes when iTunes Match runs its Step 3 (not before) - any ideas why and how to fix it?

Every time iTunes runs the iTunes Match, when iTunes MAtch gets to Step 3 - iTunes stops working - ie crashes. Any idea why and how to fix it? The songs are still uploaded to iCloud etc... but it crashe iTunes every single time

I cannot explain the failure, but I can tell you that I have a string of approx. 24 emails with Apple and a combined 10hrs of talk time with Apple customer reps that tried helping me precisely for the issue that iTunes Match would crash at Step 3 without fail. Apple even logged my Console and I was talking to an engineer that literally wrote part of the code for iTunes Match (that was the fourth and last level of customer care I was escalated to). The poor man almost quite his job, and I just about demanded a refund for my $25, since iTunes Match simply wasn't working.
Then I studied at a friend's place, and I noticed that all of a sudden, while iTunes was running in the background, half my library was already uploaded and things were progressing smoothly. It turns out that it had something to do with my modem specifically, as I had already hooked up my computer straight to the modem, taking the router (TimeCapsule) out of the equation. Nothing worked. Firewalls were turned off, no AntiVirus existed, and Apple engineers tried everything possible, incl. remote access on my computer, to get this to work. Nothing worked as long as I was connected to a Motorola Surboard.
At every other network, wether at Starbucks, my university, or at friends places, however, iTunes Match worked flawlessly.
After some research online, it turnes out that a handful of people with Motorola Surrboard Xtreme cable modems had similar issues. Eversince, I simply use my neighbors wifi should I need to upload songs, and I have no issues. Oddly enough, matching (not uploading) works just fine with my Motorola.
Don't ask me how or why, I am interested in computers and work with them a lot, but I am no engineer. I can tell you that simple scientific method pinpointed to the modem, and I haven't had issues since then.

This thread: This solved my questionRe: iTunes Match Crashing at Step 3 (won't upload). Posted right above your previous post.

so how do I remove that song without deleting it? (That was my question before -- sorry, I'm not trying to be willfully obtuse -- I just don't understand how to do it.)
If you know the one track that is causing a crash delete it from the iTunes library by highlighting it and typing Option+Delete on the keyboard. In the dialog choose the option to "keep files."
    Faisane wrote:
Why do I have so many unmatched songs? Does changing the Album, Artist, Song information (which I often do because I don't really like the classical music descriptors automatically provided) make the title unmatchable?
Because the matching process is not 100% accurate; or you have an older mastering of an album that did match to what is in the store; or something in your library is not availble in the store. In short your library simply will not "match" 100%. There will be a percentage that must be uploaded.

  • ITunes Match stop at step 3 on the same music.

My iTunes Match freezed at step 3 on the same music. I tried to stop and restart but it didn't change.

Start deleting songs from your library that require to be uploaded and each time you do an album update match and see if it goes further.
Be sure to check that box that also deletes it from the cloud also.
If it does not go any further move to the next album until you find the one that is holding it up.
I don't know any other way to tell you to do it.
Just start deleting songs that require you to upload until you find the right one.
At least you don't have 5,000 to check.  You only have 700 or so.
If you had to delete them all and then re add them into your library it really isn't that many.

  • ITunes Match: Stuck in Step 1

I've seen some older posts on this subject, but I haven't seen a definative resolution or explanation.  So, I'm posting my own request.
I had iTunes Match over a year ago... then I cancelled to subscription.   Just yesterday, I decided to start iTunes Match again (I was without it for about 8 months).
I have an iMac which has about 9,000 songs in iTunes.  And a MacBook Air with about 250 songs.  iTunes v11.0.2 (25)  OSX 10.8.3
My concern is with my iMac and the 9,000 songs.
I start iTunes Match... "Add this computer".
It enters the Step 1 'Gathering' phase.   The progress bar starts...
THEN the process stops.   The 'STOP' button at the lower right turns to 'START'.
If I wait for a minute or so,   iTunes Match seems to start again still in Step 1,  the progress bar seems to get to about the same place, and hangs there until the process stops again.  Only to start again by itself a short time later.
This has been going on for HOURS!  It never seems to get any further on the progress bar.
ALSO, with my MBA, even with it's tiny database of 250 songs seemed to be trouble.  The process only took about an hour or so... still it STARTED and STOPPED the process maybe 50-75 times to get through... at least with the MBA I was able to see some movement of the progress bar during each renewed Matching session.
Is this enough information for someone to tell me what is happening?  Is this a 'Problem'?  Or is iTunes Match just taking super long to 'Gather' info.
HERE'S WHAT I'VE TRIED... only to get back to the same symptom above:
    Rebuilt the iTunes Library.
Turned OFF Match, then turned ON Genius... THEN turned on Match
What I DIDN'T try was to create an entirely new iTunes Library and copy everything over.  I hope that is not the ONLY solution.
Thanks for any input on this subject!
    - Craig

    Hello Kelsoguy
If you are having an issue with iTunes Match, the first thing I would do is quit iTunes and turn off iTunes Match. Turn it back on and see if it starts it process again. If you still cannot get it to work, report the issue to iTunes.
How to report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store purchase

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • ITunes match stalling on step 2

My step 2 has also stalled. After reading the prior posts I understand the issues with the server and response to the new service. My question is, if I close my MacBook, will the sync continue when I reopen it? Or will I need to stop it and start it over. Thanks!

Suggest selecting iTunes Match from the left pane and requesting 'stop' prior to closing iTunes client.
When you start iTunes again, iTunes Match will automatically attempt to synchronise the library.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match hangs in step 2 at the last song

    What do I do now?

    Bob,
    To your note above,
    "Hi Daan,
I have the same problem. I heard from some people that just need to wait until Apple's servers are taxed less. This is due to last 19 more countries where iTunes was made available match.
    Regards Bob".
You are correct - the Apple infrastructure is currently no making progress past Step 2, it is likely to be a few days before the service balances given the sheer number of new iTunes Match clients!

  • Itunes match stopped during step 2. On Windows 7 machine.

I had ITunes Match running and it seems to have stopped approximately 17 songs from end during step 2.
I stopped and restarted iTunes match, no change.
I have restarted the Windows machine, again no change.
    Any suggestions?

Taken as a whole, the symptoms suggest that another application (other than QuickTime itself) has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

I am stuck in a loop!

  • ITunes match crashing at step 3. Win7 x64 iTunes v10.6.3.25

I'm having the same problem as so many other people it seems - part of my library is matched and now I'm stuck with a constantly-crashing iTunes when it gets to step 3. I've checked for zero-length files or tracks where the track length is invalid - all clear. Checked for tracks that have their match status showing as 'error' - don't have any of those. I've really come to a dead end here - any other tips or advice?
I spent a while using sysinternals process monitor to see if I could find the source of the problem and it was always tripping up on a certain track recently ripped from CD (using iTunes). So I deleted that track and it crashed again but on a different track. After a while it became clear that it was all my long tracks that are causing the problem - and I have several hundred tracks that are over an hour long - DJ mixes, mix albums, stuff like that. Given that I'm not going to delete all these tracks (as I don't have sources to many of them any more) just to get iTunes match to work, is there any way I can flag these ones as "don't match" so they get skipped? Or any way I can take the remaining short tracks and force iTunes to manually match those?
Or am I just S.O.L until Apple admit there's a problem with very long tracks, and try to fix it?

I don't see the long tracks as being a problem.  If the tracks file size is below 200mb then they will upload but will take sigficantly longer.  I have A LOT of long tracks.  Some as long as 2 hours long but the file size is below 200mb.  If your file sizes are larger than that they will become ineligible.  You can change this by change your import settings and picking the create acc version under the advanced tab. I haven't noticed a lot of different things that may cause things to glitch up in my experience.  I've don't about 6 different people's match accounts and windows seems to give a lot more problems than MAC does.  Which would seem about right given that this an apple product.  But if you will try taking your tracks that are messing it up and let itunes create a new acc version match will probably accept it.
There is no way to flag anything and tell iTunes match not to upload it.  If it is in the library then it will try to be uploaded.  There also is no way to force iTunes match to upload certain songs without doing all of them.  If it seems that iTunes match is crashing then just restart is and see if it is a certain song and try the creating a new file method described above and a lot times it will go ahead and upload.  as I said I have a lot of really long tracks and they all get uploaded eventually but it takes a lot longer.
You can delete the tracks out of itunes and do not press the move to recyle bin just press the keep file button and you can reimport them again later on.  You do not loose your music by deleting from itunes unless you press the button that says move to recycle bin.  Which you could get back out of the recycle bin if you don't empty it before you realize what you've done.  Always check whats in your recycle bin before you empty it.

  • ITunes Match hangs on step 1

    Hi
Over the past fortnight, iTunes Match has gone from working seamlessly, to hanging at the first step - Gathering Information about your iTunes Library.  I amrunning the laters version of iTunes - Ver. 10.6.1.
Is anyone else experienceing this?  Does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks

Same problem here, stuck at first step endlessly. Tried deleting songs that are not adequate for iCloud, and still stuck.
    Anyone have a solution?

  • ITunes Match stuck on step 1

I'm running iTunes 11.1.5 on OS X 10.9.2. I can't get pass the step one. I have about 20000 songs in my iTunes Library, it's about 180GB.
The status bar in step 1 has finished - but I'm now stuck with the message that it is still "Gathering information about your iTunes Library".
It's been like this for hours.

Hi - I have exactly the same problem,  but this didn't help me.
I'm trying to run iTunes Match and it simply stalls at stage 1. I believe I've tried the fixes listed in other places where this seems to have been an ongoing issue since launch - and not all of these work for the people there, either. These include removing stoping and starting Match, stopping and starting Genius, stopping and starting Genius and Match, moving the iTunes Library files and reimporting them as new libraries and so on. Nothing is working for me.
I run iTunes match and it matches "most" of my songs and then stalls. I've left it for days to see how long the stall is and it never clears.Over the last few days' stops and starts, it's matched as follows:
    13508 / 14010
    13535 / 14010
    13541 / 14010
    13998 / 14010
    13999 / 14010
    13966 / 14010
    14002 / 14010
    14007 / 14010
    13964 / 14010
    13348 / 14010
    14008 / 14010
    14003 / 14010
    14008 / 14010
    14001 / 14010
... you get the picture. iTunes frequently also can't access the iTunes Store or comes up with unknown errors. Anyone any ideas (please exclude the ones I've tried). As far as I can see, this service simply isn't ready for prime time.
As a background, this is an entirely new music library. I set up my Mac from scratch a few months ago with a new SSD. My music library had a lot of old files sampled at low bit rates - I was re-ripping to flac for my hifi, so I decided to re-rip to iTunes as well at the same time (my previous iTunes Match had lots of stuff it couldn't match, but was uploaded at a low bit rate since that was all that was available). My network connection is wired and I have very good broadband (cable) speed.
I also tried as you suggested, above - this did do one thing thing - changed the number of songs iTunes sees from 14010 to 13951, but it is still doing the same thing - stalling at around 10 songs or so shy of completing stage 1.

  • HT204406 itunes match stuck on Step 2!!

    Hi,
I-tunes match has suddenly started to play up today. It gets as far as 16033 of 16034 then gets stuck. I have tried a number of ideas from the support pages plus the obvious stuff, still nothing. It's pushing the tracks out to my devices but as it's not going in to step 3 none of the recent art work goes, Ahhhhh!
I am not great with coding, any easy routes to fix this? Are apple going to fix this. The only ineligible tracks in my library are music videos and they have always been there so have been ignore previously by match.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi there
I was having this same issue after re-enabling iTunes Match despite it having worked previously.
It turned out to be a problem with some of the new tracks i'd added since the last time it was enabled. To locate them, I had to wait until the match process was on step 2 and got to the point where it stopped matching. It got to something like 9822 of 9870 songs.
In the songs view I then changed the visible fields to include the iCloud Status field, then sorted the songs by this field.
When I scrolled to the bottom there were the exact number of remaining songs sitting on the "Waiting" status. All of these were new additions. I removed them from the library and retried the match and it completed perfectly. I'm now re-adding the songs back into the library one album at a time to see if they will match now.
    Fingers crossed...
