ITUNES MATCH CONSTANT PROBLEM

I am sick of my itunes match failing and forcing me to sign in and sign out of itunes every time i start my macbook and desktop mac! what is the problem, why can it just not update the match when i open itunes? i pay for a service, i expect it to work!

Hi,
Do you regularly clear out cookies or do you not accept cookies on Safari. iTunes cookies are stored in Safari and if they are cleared, you will be asked to sign into match each time you open iTunes.

  • PLEASE HELP -- iTunes Match - multiple problems, desktop and iOS

I've been going round and around with this issue for the past couple days (yes, I've been dedicating that much time to it) and finally went to the Genius Bar today to get help and even they were stumped.  Hoping someone here can shed some light on the situation. Next stop, express lane for support.
    Broad Problem:
I paid for iTunes Match around 6 months ago and activated it on my desktop.     Since then, I've had nothing but problems across my desktop and 4 seperate iOS devices (3 iPhone 4's, and an iPad 3).  The basic sympton on the desktop is that iTunes itself frequently freezes (Option-Command-Esc reveals "Application Not Responding") and requires a force quit.   As soon as I turn OFF iTunes Match, this symptom goes away. I can leave iTunes open for hours without any problems.  As soon as I turn it back ON, then the problem comes back -- sometimes iTunes won't launch at all (crashes before bringing the UI up), and other times it's the same freeze that requires a force-quite.  Quite frustrating.
On the iOS side of things, the situation isn't any better.   When I toggle on iTunes Match and then enable "Show All Music" in the Preferences of the iPhone, then I get any one of the two following scenarios:
    A) The Music App simply won't load.  It tries, goes to white, and crashes back to the home screen of my iPhone.
    B) If I'm lucky, the Music app will launch and I can see my entire library in the cloud as intended.  The problems start though when I go to actually download/play songs from the cloud.  Typically, the songs will start playing but I will eventually get an error message that alerts me that there was "Problem Downloading Track".  When I then go into the Download Que of the iTunes Store (again, still on the iPhone), it shows the entire list of songs that I had wanted to download and shows them at various stages of download completion -- even if they have actually completely played on the phone itself.   Sometimes they will time out and display the "problem downloading track/try again" status, and other times the progress bar sits at about 99% with a status of "Processing".
What's particularly strange about scenario B is that I've tried to download a variety of songs to different devices -- my wifes iPhone 4, my iPhone 4, an iPad, and a iPhone 4S that the person at the Genius Bar had me use as a tester.   When I tried the iPhone 4S at the genius bar, I was amazed at how fast it downloaded to the device.  This had the genius bar guy wondering if it was a problem with my phone itself or with the iPhone 4 in particular.   Unfortunately he didn't have a spare iPhone 4 to test with so I had to go home and test with my wife's iPhone 4.  Again, she had the same problem.   The status bar hangs at about 99% showing a status of "processing", even though I have completely listened to the track within the Music App.  The same scenario happens on the iPad as well.
Okay, if you're with me so far:  here's where things start to get REALLY strange....
On MY iPhone 4, when I run into problem A or B, the only fixable solution for me has been to go into Preferences and toggle OFF iTunes Match, completely shut down the phone, restart the phone, and then launch the Music App, at which point I can see the music that has loaded to my phone.    The kicker here is that even though I've turned iTunes Match OFF and completely powered down my phone, when I go into the Music app I can ALSO see my ENTIRE iTunes Match library, completely with cloud status icons.   It's as though I never turned off iTunes Match at all.  In fact, I had to triple check my own preferences to verify that it was turned OFF, which it sure enough is.   I can even go and attempt to download songs, with various levels of success based on the problems above.
Now, on my WIFE's iPhone 4, when I run into problem A or B, I tried the same process in tandem with the phones side by side as I did the test -- turn iTunes Match OFF in Preferences, power down the phone, power up the phone, and launch the Music app.    However, on her phone, when this happens the Music App shows what is to be expected -- only the music that is on the phone itself.
Okay, there's a lot to digest here, but here's the synopsis:  my phone and my wifes phones are behaving differently when displaying iTunes Match, with my phone appearing to completely disregard the status of the On/Off Toggle within Preferences-->Music, and my wifes phone behaving as it should, at least in terms of what it displays.   The download problems are present on each device and the iPad is also behaving like my wifes phone.
Given all of these inconsistencies and irregularities across devices and platforms -- MacBook Pro running Lion, separate iPhone 4's each running iOS 5.1.1, an iPad running iOS 5.1.1. and an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 - my suspicion is that:
    A) I've got a corrupt iTunes library file residing in the cloud
    or
    B) iTunes Match is having a hard time reconciling my Apple ID across so many devices (possibly complicated by issue A)
The bottom line is that I have paid for iTunes Match and have never been able to use it successfully or with any predictability.
I'm wondering if anyone else has any symptoms that match any of this and/or have come across a corrupted file in the cloud and, if so, how to remedy the situation.  Since it's in the cloud, I can't do anything about.  I can't even see it.  Most troubling.
    Note:
When I went to the Genius Bar, they had me do a complete restore of the phone (not from backup) to elminate any corrupt files within the phone itself.  Even that didn't solve the problem.   That's when he brought out the 4S phone to test on and we were both so shocked at how blazingly fast the songs downloaded, error-free.  That phone was able to download 8 songs completely before one song downloaded to my phone sitting right next to it.  Both on the same Apple Store network and both downloading the exact same tracks using my Apple ID and login.   While it's tempting to say that the 4S is faster than the 4, I don't think it's 8 times faster with download speeds over WiFi.   However, even if the speed/completion discrepancy is because the 4S is superior, it doesn't explain the mind-boggling disparity between my wife's phone and my phone -- both iPhone 4's and both running the same iOS.   Throw in the oddity of iTunes on Lion crashing whenever iTunes Match is on and this all seems to point to some corruption in the cloud that perhaps the 4S device is able to bypass...for whatever reason.
    Please help.  This is nuts.

  • ITunes Match Account Problems

    My problem is simple -
Two itunes accounts - one (old) which I purchase all my apps, songs, movies and so on - then I have a @me.com account with I have to use on icloud.
I purchased Itunes match accidently with my old account and now I can't use it with the cloud address - meanng the phone and ipad wont sync with match.
    Complete crapola!
    What can I do?

Match works with your store id.  If you are signed into the old store id then match should work on your device.
It is not associated with your icloud id, but your store id.
Go to settings>store>sign out of your icloud id and sign into your old store id and then you will be set up.

  • Do other people have iTunes match streaming problems?

iCloud is a massive disappointment.  I have been using it for several months and it has never worked properly.  When I try to stream music inevitably it just goes through these stretches where it flat out doesn't work.  No sound, no nothing.  Unfortunately now I have tried switching to come off iTunes match and for some reason instead of all 10,000 songs downloading onto my phone only about 7800 did.
If I'm going to be purchasing a new phone soon I need to think long and hard about whether it will be an apple.  I don't mind paying a premium for a superior product but if I am going to have these sorts of problems...

For what it's worth, I've used iTunes Match from day one and have never had any problems accessing my library.  I do tend to stream almost exclusively when connected to wifi though.  If you haven't already tried, you might try turning it off on your phone, then back on; or turning off on all your iOS devices, then signing out in iTunes on your computer, then sign back in on your computer followed by your iOS devices.  There is also a separate forum for iTunes Match that may provide some suggestions here: iTunes Match.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match / Cloud problems

iTunes match says you can have up to 25000 tunes but when i access my music on my iPhone i only have about 21000 from my library available and there are definately tunes/albums missing that i know are in my main itunes and no reason why they would not be available in itunes. The message i get in my iTunes is i have reached my 25000 limit,i have about 38000 in my itunes library (quite a few duplicates). also iTunes doesn't appear to work now on my phone , when i click into anything it appears greyed out as though i cant listen/purchase it and itunes then freezes up,is this because it says i am at my cloud limit?.  Has anyone else experienced these problems.   Thanks

Nevermind! I feel ridiculous but I've found the solution and... It was simple. In my settings, under music, I had it set to only show music downloaded onto the iPhone. Ha..

  • ITunes Match Playlist Problems on iPhone

on my computer, my Recently updated goes by date added.. In Music, on iPhone, it goes by alphabetical order. how can i change it to date added?

    Hi Michael,
Thanks for coming back to me. I only subscribed to match a few days ago so definately using the same apple ID.  Really frustrating.
When I sign back into the store on my iphone and go to turn on itunes match is gives me the subscribe message and when i go to enable automatic downloads it asks for the password, which I put in, and then it just keeps popping up again asking for the password, even although its the correct one going in.
As I said, my iphone is a device on the left hand side, but when I go to itunes in the cloud on my account its only my Ipad that is showing up.
New problem- since I switched itunes match off and back on again, I can enable the itunes match button on my Ipad but none of the music is showing- so neither device is working now. Really annoyed.

  • Itunes match upload problems

  • ITunes Match Playlist Problems

I have a few problems with iTunes Match, but my biggest relates to Playlists going missing.
    1.  Missing Playlists:  I have a number of playlists which I've been carefully building for a very long time.  A few are very large, with upwards of 1,000 songs.  I signed up for iTunes Match, and a handful of the playlists (all of my favorites, which are some of the biggest) simply do not appear on my iDevice at all.  For instance I have two Rainy Day mixes, one longer than the other.  The shorter one appears, the longer one is just completely nonexistant on my phone.
    2.  Freezing Music App:  I have two "Summer" playlists, both of which are quite long, in a folder called Summer.  The folder appears on my iPhone... but when I tap it to play one of the playlists... the Music app freezes, and then eventually crashes, without ever opening the folder.  Could this be because the phone knows there should be playlists there, but there are none and it doesn't know how to display an empty folder?
I want my big playlists back, they're what I listen to most!
Side note: Wow has my battery life been horrendous since turning on iTunes Match (I have an iPhone 4).  This has never been a problem in the past for me, but suddenly it's dropping like crazy.

I have the same issue.  I have some playlists on my phone that are blank which is really annoying.  One of the Playlist is "Recently Added" for music that I added over the last week or so.  The playlist shows up on my phone, but it's blank which is annoying.  I can't access my newer music easily and I end up just pulling up Rhapsody or Pandora instead.  Very frustrating.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match subscription problems

    Hi,
I have enough credit in iTune store to subscribe to iTune Match.  When I turn on iTunes Match & subscribe - the only options available is to pay through credit card or to redeem another gift card. How do I use my credit to subscribe to iTune Match?
    Best regards,
    Chandra Kiran.

Do you have a credit card on your account ? From the page that you posted from :
Note: You may use store credit to pay for your iTunes Match subscription; however, you must have a valid payment method on file at the time of sign up.

  • ITunes and iTunes Match causing problems

I'm using the latest iTunes, 12 something or other, only iMac.
I have over 12,000 songs in my iTunes library.
The majority of them were ripped from my cd collection.
Only several hundred, @400, have been purchased.
When i bring up iTunes, i can/could see them all - no cloud icons.
All the songs are located on my local hard drive.
I'm trying to move them all onto my iPod but that isn't working - i'll worry about that issue after I get the below iTunes issue resolved.....hopefully.
In iTunes, with all my songs accurately displayed, I turned on iTunes match.
After a time delay and messages about info @ my iTunes library being sent to Apple, the UI display came back with a bunch of cloud icons located next to a majority of the songs. Some of the songs were the ones I purchased, some were not. Some of the songs were from the ripped CDs, some were not - I haven't been able to figure out what determined a cloud icon to be placed next to a song.
When i tried to drag-and-drop some of these songs onto my iPod - i got a message saying that none of the songs that have a cloud icon next to them can be copied onto my device, i have to download them first !?!?!?!?! Huh ? Wait a second, all of these songs already exist locally - i checked in Finder and they are all still located locally on my hard drive - why am i being told to download a song that already exists locally ?.
Then I thought I'll just go back to what iTunes was displaying before i turned on Match, i.e., my entire 12,000+ locally existing song library w/no cloud icons.
So I tried going to back to the original display where all of the songs were listed.
I turned off iTunes match and much to my surprise - several of the originally listed songs have disappeared and are no longer displayed in my iTunes song library ? And by several, i mean the majority.
So now, as far as iTunes is concerned, instead of having a 12,100+ song library, i've got several thousand less !?!?!?!  Why ?
How can i get iTunes to forget all about its current settings and state of things, start from scratch, and go thru the entire current library of 12,100+ songs that I have on my local hard drive and rebuild its db to accurately represent all the songs I truly have ?
    Thanks,
    BobZ

One thing I would consider is getting an uninterruptible power supply. I had my iphoto and itunes libraries on an external drive for years. While I was in iphoto one night the power flickered off and on several times. My Powerbook continued to run off of it's battery, but the external went off and on. It damaged my photo library and I had to completely rebuild it. It was a lot of trouble. Not sure what would have happened if itunes would have been open.
Since you're on an imac, a power outage would shut both down at once. Might not hurt anything. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

  • ITunes Match connection problems

    Hi,
Every time I start iTunes, the program cannot connect to iTunes Match. Te solution is "disconnect" and "connect" again, but it is not a good solution because I don't pay for a service that works wrong every time I want to use it.

Please.... does anyone have help to offer on this?

  • ITunes Match UK problems

I've just been through the iTunes Match set-up in the UK. About half my songs are 'ineligible', despite them being ripped from common LPs that ought to be there. I am guessing that it might be because the bit rate is too low (64!!), but when I try to convert them to AAC or Lossless, I get an 'Unknown error ( -3)' message.
    Any ideas, good people?

Here's what I did, step-by-step.  (This is on a Windows machine; not sure how you right-click on a Mac!)  This is a little complicated because I wanted to keep the original (low bit) file if iTunes didn't have a match.
    1) In iTunes, go to Edit | Preferences.  Under "General" tab, click "Import settings."  Set "Import using" to AAC encoder, and Setting to "High Quality (128kbps)."  (You can also use MP3 encoder, which I did at first, but I got a couple extra matches when I tried AAC later.)  Click OK twice to exit.
    2) Go to your Music library, right-click the header column and check 'bit rate', then sort on that.
    3) Select all the songs under 128kbps, right-click on them, and click "Get info".  Note that this assumes all of your songs are "ticked" -- if they aren't, you may want to create a smart playlist of just the songs that are ticked; otherwise step 12 won't work!
    4) Set the 'Comment' field to 'Ineligible' (or something like that) and hit "OK."  It may take a moment to update all of the songs.
    5) The songs should still be selected.  Right-click on them again and click 'Create AAC version' (or Create MP3 version, if that's what you set in step 2).  Depending on the number of songs, it may take quite some time to convert!
    6) Go to File | New Smart Playlist.  Set two rules: "Comments is Ineligible" (or whatever you used in step 5) and "Bit rate is 128kbps".  Click OK.  Change the name of the playlist to "128kbps" or something like that.
    7) Now go to Store | Update iTunes Match.  Again, this could take several hours.
    8) When finished, go to your "128kbps" playlist.  Right-click the header bar and click on "iCloud status".  Sort on that.
    9) Select all songs that have a status of "uploaded," right-click on them, and click "Untick selection."
    10) Now select allsongs that have a status of "Matched," right-click on them, and click "Delete."  When prompted, do NOT check the "delete from cloud" option.  Click OK, then select "Move to Recycle Bin" (or whatever it is on the Mac).
    11) When the songs are deleted, they should still be highlighted.  Right-click on the them again and select "Download from iCloud."  Depending on your connection and number of songs, this could take quite some time.
    12) When finished, right-click on the "128kbps" playlist and select "Edit smart playlist."  Delete the second criteria, so it's just "Comment is Ineligible."  Click OK.
    13) Now here's the tricky part, because if iTunes did match a song, you want to delete the low-bit version; if it didn't match, you want to keep the low-bit version.  (Converting from a lossy format to a lossy format, even at a higher bit rate, still loses quality!)  Sort by bit rate, select all songs less than 128kbps, and then re-sort on song name.  Now every other song is highlighted.  Scan through the list, looking for songs that are not ticked--when you find one, unselect the low-bit rate version.  (On Windows, it's Ctrl+click.)
Now you have a choice -- if you want to delete the low bit-rate versions, right-click on the selected songs and click "Delete."  When prompted, select "Move to Recycle Bin" (or whatever it is on the Mac).
However, if you want to keep the low bit-rate versions (I put them on my Android phone, so I have more music), right-click on them and select "Untick selection."  You can also select "Get info" and change the comment to something like "low bit-rate version" so you can create a smart playlist for them.
At this point, for tunes that matched, you have a shiny new 256kbps version.  For tunes that didn't match, you still have the low bit-rate version on your computer, but you also have a backup version sitting in the iCloud, just in case.
To clean up, just select the 256kbps versions and change the comment from "Ineligible" to blank.
Hope that makes sense.  I still have about 400 songs (out of 3500) that did not match, which is a bit annoying.  Every so often, I will repeat this process on those songs just to see if Apple has fixed them, and a few have matched, so maybe some day they'll all work.
