ITunes Match doesn't download to phone during song play anymore?

Hi,
I have noticed massive data usage on my mobile contract recently and have narrowed it down to iTunes.
I have match and I use the phone in my car to listen to music.  I have allot of music but normally would listen to the same album a few times in a row while heading back and forth to work and the way the system used to work was to download the album onto the phone during the first playback.. That meant that subsequent playbacks of that album would not use up my data allowance as it was saved to the phone.
I used to allow this to build up and then once the phone was nearly full, delete off some of the music and allow it to build up again.
However, now there is no downloading, just constant streaming no matter how often the same song/album is repeated.  Is there any way to set it up like it was?
Cheers
Dave

First trouble shooting step is to always simply quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, then launch it again and try to download the tracks again. If that doesn't work, then stop iTunes Match while holding down the Option key and quit iTunes. Wait a few seconds then relaunch it and start iTM. After adding the computer and letting the scan complete you ought to be able to download the tracks.
Once you get the tracks downloaded immediately purchase an external HDD that is 2 to 3 times the size of the internal HDD of the computer and start using the backup software of your choice to backup all your personal data. iTunes Match is not a backup service. You are responsible for making backups of your data.

  • Why doesn't iTunes Match doesn't show all of my songs?

Some albums in my iTunes album don't show up at all, some show up, except a couple of songs off of it, and they're songs I've listened to with Match before. It just seems random and sporadic that the songs show up gray and can't play. (Correction: If I click on the songs in gray, they do play after downloading.)

I figured it out kind of. Looks like iTunes on my laptop is doing weird things sorting my tracks. It is spltting up compilations and saying some of the songs on the album are by an unknown artist. I have re-organized my songs by the same artist and that seems to have worked but still some missing.
I am still missing a lot of album artwork though.

  • HT1688 iTunes Match is not downloading properly to my iPhone.

iTunes Match is not downloading properly to my iPhone.  I removed some songs from the cloud and it has not sent some songs to my iPhone and a lot of my artwork is not coming down.  I have tried to turn it on and off in iTunes, updated to Match and restarted the computer and phone.  Nothing works.  I just began using Match.  What am I doing wrong?  How do I fix this?

  • HT4914 If I subscribe to iTunes Match, can I download onto my new iPhone 6, just my music playlists and not my entire library?

If I subscribe to iTunes Match, can I download onto my new iPhone 6, just my music playlists and not my entire library? I have over 100 playlists and even more music not in playlists and I don't want to download all of it to my phone.
    Thanks

First read this: FAQ: Why iTunes Match Can Not Be Used as a Backup
So, before you sell your Mac make sure all your personal data is backed up to an external HDD then put that HDD in a safe place. When you return you will be able to use it to restore your data to the new Mac.
Before you sell your computer you must restore the original version OS X that was installed on it when you bought it. See this Apple KB article for how to prepare your Mac for sale: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5189.

  • HT1711 I have over 100 songs I bought back before mid-2009 when Apple dropped this DRM thing. If I want to play those songs on Sonos, the ONLY way to do so is pay Apple another $25/year for iTunes Match and re-download them??

I have a Sonos system in my house and suddenly discovered that many songs I bought off of iTunes years ago are 'grayed out' when I try to play them from my iPhone or do not appear as options at all when I try to play them on Sonos from my overall music library.  It's well over 100 songs I bought back before mid-2009 when Apple dropped this DRM thing. From what I think I am reading, if I want to play those songs on Sonos, the ONLY way to do so is pay Apple another $25/year for iTunes Match (which I don't have any interest in) and then re-download them all in iTunes Plus format??

    Matt,
I agree it was not all communicated real well, but in your case it will work out.  You missed the program where you could have upgraded 100 tracks for 30 cents each (=$30) but now you can do it via Match (=$25).  It works pretty simply, per this document:
Can I upgrade my previously purchased music to iTunes Plus?
Yes. If you subscribe to iTunes Match, you can download your previously purchased music again in the iTunes Plus format. To do so:
You need to delete the original DRM song from your library first. Doing this enables you to download the song again in the iTunes Plus format from iTunes in the Cloud.
Click the Purchased tab in the iTunes Store.
    Click Music.
Locate the artist of the song you want to upgrade.
Click the iCloud Download icon next to the song you want to upgrade.
Just don't forget to put the Plus files on your hard drive -- properly backed up of course -- and to cancel the Match subscription before the second year rolls around!

i clicked the download all button at the end of the list of my library iTunes which i believe is in the iCloud, i have iTunes match also, many downloads were reported as occurring over several hours and then received the warning startup disc is full (activity monitor shows 3.99 of 4 GB used) and then another stating the download had not occurred due to the disc being full. most of the tunes still appear to be in the cloud but the disc is said to be full, spent a good period of time trying to investigate what has happened but failed...I'm not well up on all of this as an old chap so any help would be wonderful.....

Thanks Michael, what is the best way of backing up, should buy a cheap standalone external hard drive rather than relying on the Time Capsule which is quite sensitive...
If you read the link I provided you'll get an idea of one way to maintain a backup of your music files, use Time Machine, and not take up as much room on the internal HDD/SSD.

Your internet connection speed has no effect on Time Machine/Time Capsule backups. Since that is all done locally, over your wireless network you actually do not need an internet connection at all.

Also I wondered if I could increase the memory on the setup disk by replacing the 4GB card already in the MBP with 16GB cards, if I upgraded would that affect anything I have stored already like my iTunes?
You're asking about the computer's RAM. Increasing that will not increase the size of the internal storage available to the computer. You'd need to replace the HDD/SSD of the Mac, which, depending on what model you have may or may not be possible (with new models of Macs).

  • ITunes Match doesn't accept editing of matched music anymore

I am using iTunes Match since one month and everything worked quite well so far.
However, since yesterday I am unable to edit or delete music or playlists that have been matched or uploaded to the cloud by iTunes Match. Every time I try to make changes, they are undone after iTunes Match has been updated the next time. Playlists and music just reappears in the cloud.
In contrast, I am still able to scan newly added music from my library and add them to the cloud or let them get matched by iTunes Match. In conclusion, my influence on my music is reduced to my local data. That seriously has ****** up my library.
Due to the fact that no possible solution i could possibly think of (reinstalling iTunes, login/relog iTunes store/iTunes Match etc.) has worked so far. I contacted Apple's support which couldn't help me also. I talked to three different people for over three hours who also consulted their respective colleagues. No result. They had no clue. Still, they told me they would get advice from the server administrators in the US (I'm from Germany) and would contact me as soon as they had any kind of answer to my dilemma.
Last night I gave it another try and was indeed able to erase my whole online library (I want to start fresh after this disaster) and the changes didn't get erased by iTunes Match. **** Yes! I added an album, waited, updated iTunes Match, erased it afterwards, waited and hoped it would now work as well as it has in the weeks before. Well, that is of course not the case.
Now I have three albums matched. Neither can I erase them from the online library nor can I edit them in any way without iTunes Match replacing my changes afterwards. Adding songs, streaming and downloading music still works fine. I just want to create an well-ordered library for my iOS devices and my computers.
At the moment all devices except one computer (Win 7, newest iTunes) are disconnected from iTunes Match.
Is there someone who might have an idea of how to solve this issue? Thank you in anticipation!

Thank you for your reply, Jim.
In fact I already tried this and it didn't seem to work. For example, I tried to delete a song that had been uploaded to the cloud and waited for some minutes without doing anything. The song just kept staying in the cloud.
In another attempt I left iTunes as it was and did nothing for over an hour. Then I deleted the complete library, waited a few second and closed iTunes. After I reopened iTunes all songs were gone from iTunes Match.
Now I have added and edited some albums to the clean Cloud. The songs that I have edited before I matched them are all correct in the cloud. Unfortunately there are some exceptions. Sometimes iTunes Match automatically scans the library while I'm still editing songnames or albumnames. When I change the tags to the ones I want them to be afterwards everything seems to work but in the cloud the respective songs still have the same tags they had while they got matched. Changes made by me just won't get saved even when I wait for about half an hour before I close iTunes or update iTunes Match. This surely should be enough time for the process of sending and saving of those changes. Some days ago I could easily edit many albums in a row without such problems.

You have old computers authorized that you are no longer using more than likely.
    From http://www.apple.com/itunes/features/
    Authorize and Deauthorize
Purchases you make from the iTunes Store can be played on up to five computers that you authorize using your iTunes Store account name and password. To authorize or deauthorize a single computer, choose Authorize This Computer or Deauthorize This Computer from the Store menu. If all five authorizations are being used, you can deauthorize all your computers at one time by choosing View My Account from the Store menu and selecting Deauthorize All.
You can then restart the authorization process with each current device.

iTunes Match will not show on phone or ipad I have switched on iTunes Match on , On both units. PC is saying albums are in the cloud ?

    Hey there Dollyonline,
Thank you for asking your question! It sounds like iTunes Match playlists are not syncing correctly to your iPad, even though you have already toggled iTunes Match off then on again. I would next turn iTunes Match back off, then close all the apps on the iPad:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that, sign out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes and App stores, and restart the phone then try turning on iTunes Match again to test the issue:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes, and restore it:

  • Itunes match doesn't work with newest verstion of apple tv software

    Hi,
I recently updated my software on my 3rd gen apple tv, and itunes match doesn't work anymore - I get the screen that it is retrieving information about my library and that it can take a few minutes.  Well, it after a few hours it still doesn't end retrieving.  This has been happening since I updated my software over 2 weeks ago.  Any solutions?  Thanks!

Hi, I had the same problem. I changed countries on the Apple TV. This logged me out of my account. When I reverted back to my country and logged back in on the Apple TV, it worked (almost) without problem.

  • Itunes match  how do you to select multiple songs or do you click each one

In ITunes match  how do you to select multiple songs to download to pc or do you have to click each one.

First make sure you have the current version of iTunes, which is actually 10.5.1.  I had to manually download it from apples website, for some reason, it wouldnt auto-update.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Once that is complete, go to the iTunes store. In the Quick Links secion to the right, you should see iTunes Match. This will prompt you to activate your subscription to iTunes match.  After that it should ask you to add your computer and once youve done that, it should begin the process of scanning your library and adding it to the cloud
Alternatively, once you activate your subscription, you can also go to the Store dropdown menu in iTunes and select Turn On iTunes Match.

  • I just uploaded my iTunes library to the cloud using iTunes Match. When I buy a new song from iTunes, is it automatically put in the Cloud or do I have to push iTunes Match. I certainly don't want to upload the whole library again. Thanks

I just uploaded my iTunes library to the cloud using iTunes Match. When I buy a new song from iTunes, is it automatically sent to the Cloud or do I have to click on iTunes Match? I certainly don't want to start the whole upload process over again. Thanks

It should do so automatically, if not check it's staus this way.
In iTunes press "Command J" or select "View Options," under the view menu. In the popup window check iCloud Status. It will now appear as one of the columns in your main iTunes window.
This column will show which of your songs are matched, uploaded, ineligible, etc.
When you navigate to the song you downloaded you will see it's iCloud status.
If the status says, "waiting," and you want it available on Match now, then in the iTunes "Store," menubar pulldown, select "Update iTunes Match."
It will scan your drive, and update all status'.
You will not have to upload everything again.
Even if in iTunes you turn Match off, and back on again.
    Match remembers you!

  • HT4915 When i did my itunes match, there were some duplicated albums and songs.  I have gone into my library and deleted the duplicates, but they still show up on my iphone as duplicates.  What can i do to get rid of them?

When I did my itunes match, there were some duplicated albums and songs in my library.  I have gone back into my library from my computer, and deleted the duplicates.  When I did so, itunes did not ask me if I wanted to delete them from the cloud.  They are still showing up on my iphone as duplicates in the cloud.  What can I do to get them from showing up in my iphone?

They are not on the iphone in the first place.  It is just a setting that allows you to see the songs that are available in icloud, but not on your iphone.  If you turn the setting to off, then you no longer see the songs that are in icloud, but NOT on your iphone.
