ITunes Match error -3231

Every time my computer tries to sync with iTunes Match, I get:
We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unkown error occurred (-3231).
There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later.
I called Apple about this a few months ago and within 24 hours an update was available which appeared tohave resolve the problem. However, it's back again and all of my computers do this.
I did a Google search and it seems nobody else gets this error because I couldn't find any results with that exact number. Lots of other ones, but not this one.
I don't have tha patience to go through another round of troubleshooting with Apple, and having someone in support not understand what I'm talking about so I figured I'd post here. Maybe someone else who has had this problem can post a solution.

Your profile indicates you are running Leopard (OS X 10.5.7), which is now at least four years old.  Is this correct?
If so, I'm surprised you can even run a version of iTunes that supports iTunes Match.
If it's not correct, please tell us the version of OS X and iTunes that you are using.

    Hello, I have already paid for the new iCloud Service - "iTunes Match" in HongKong area.
    However, it continue show "Error 4010" in my "iTunes Match" of MacAir and WinXP, I can't upload any songs to Cloud Server even it was works for uploading 20 songs in first day, it can't work anymore.

  • ITunes 10.6 stopped iTunes Match (error 5002)

    I have a large iTunes Match upload step in progress (will prob take a couple of omnths to complete!) and I upgraded to iTunes 10.6 today.  ie. before the upload step was completed.
    When I tried to start the Match process again after upgrading, I kept getting error 5002 saying there was a problem with the iTunes store.
    I tried signing out and then back in to the iTunes Store from iTunes but then Match said that I needed to add my computer to the Match service - this also errored out with 5002 when I tried to do it.  ie.  It no longer recognised my existing compter as being authorised for the store and wouldn't let me add it again.
    I did manage to reoslve the problem by completing the following from within iTunes:
    1. Store -->  Sign Out.
    2. Store  -->  Sign In
    3. Store --> View This Account
    4. (Apple ID Summary)  Deathorise All Computers.  Click Done
    5. Click iTunes Match and No Thanks to add this computer (this turned Match off).
    6. Store -->  Turn on iTunes Match
    7. iTunes Match  -->  Add this Computer
    I was then able to start the Match process again.

    IIRC one of the odd "unmatched" tracks others reported right after iTunes Match went live was the Beatles Abby Road "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window".  I never experienced that bug however.
    I have noticed that since the iTunes 10.6 and iOS 5.1 updates, cover art that would sometimes go missing on my iPhone 4 and/or iPad (or even my Apple TV2) now seem to show up without fail...including cover art that I had added myself.

    I have just subscribed to iTunes Match, and get the above error message.  I have signed out and signed in several times, and still get the same message.  Can anyone help with a solution?

    I have Just upgraded my mac from Itunes 11.0 to itunes 11.02, this issue occured within hours of the updated.
    It seems to occur about every couple of hours for me, I can still access the apple store, but music match just dies with the message: "iTunes Match has encountered an error. Please choose Sign Out and then Sign In from the Store menu and try again."
    As it takes a good ten minuites for itunes
    If this is also occuring in Itunes 11, the previous Discussions are probably not relevant.
    Itunes 11 has had significant changes applied, so it would be reasoble to assume this is not the same fault and Apple have some how broken Itunes again.
    I might try to downgrade to itunes 11.0, as it looks like music match faults are not high on apples priorities, it looks like took them almost a year to fix this fault last time it occured.

    Having the same issue. Supposedly error 5002 is often linked with incorrect credit card info in your iTunes account but I have cleared and reentered and still nothing. Also having trouble downloading songs through iTunes match on my iPhone 4S. Also using iTunes 10.6.1 and IOS 6.
    Also, having trouble with Genius. When updating and syncing my iPhone, it gets to step 6 (Syncing genius info) and keeps going and going and going. I let it sit there for an hour and nothing.
    Apple customer support is saying their systems are currently down so that may be apart of the problem. Blah.

    I kept trying with the Option fix and eventually it has worked for me now. For anyone not sure what this is:
    Go to Store menu
    Press Option and Turn Off iTunes Match together
    Go back to Store menu and turn on Match as normal
    Don't believe necessary but probably best to quit and restart iTunes between steps 2 and 3
    Hope this works for you too - I did have to keep doing it (probably about 6 times) before it worked properly.

  • Itunes match error

    Hi there,
    I am trying turn on the Itunes Match on my laptop. (I have a PC Windows 8)
    (1) I have two issues, I ALWAYS get the following error message (-50) 'The Itunes library cannot be saved. unknown error' and even though I click 'do not warn again box', it still shows up everytime I open up itunes.
    (2) I already have my itunes match authorized on my work computer. But for some reason it will not load on my laptop, which has Windows 8. I click on the 'itunes match' button and it gets as far as loading the music, then itunes shuts down. The message that comes up just indicates that Itunes has encountered a problem.
    Any suggestions as to how to fix this? This has been happening for over a month.

    I am having an issue with iTunes Match. It does not work and I get error 4001 saying cannot connect to iTunes please try again later. I have seen other threads that say by holding down the option key work but I get so far as "Waiting for Apple to deliver your iTunes match" and then I get the error.
    Can someone please help me! I have a service I am paying for but it's not working.

  • ITunes Match error - confused

    Hi folks
    Just subscribed to this new service (in the UK) and it's frustrating me. I eventually got it to finish its initial process (had to stop & start a few times as it seemed to hang during uploading) but I have a lot of files (3,852 out of 24,934 items) showing 'error' and 94 files showing 'waiting' in the iCloud Status. I've tried re-uploading them using the context menu but it continues to say 'error' with no further description.
    To make it worse, these files are now missing from my iPhone library - I turned on iTunes match (on the iPhone) before I reaslised half the files had errors, but having turned it off again and re-synced, the files are still missing from the iPhone. By missing, I mean that the tracklisting for an album shows the track, but it is dimmed out and cannot be played.
    Most of these error files are on normal mainstream albums, where 9 out of 10 tracks are uploaded but one shows an error.
    What are the possible reasons for the error, and how do I get my music back on my iPhone?

    There was another user here with a similar problem a few days ago - are ALL your "uploaded" files failing?  If so, then you might have a pattern. 
    I had suggested to them to confim that their ISP or your local router isn't blocking uploads, for some reason - I would suggest the same thing here.  Start with a non-iTunes upload like dropbox or megaupload, just to ensure that those work.  Then move onto iTM testing - not thousands of files, I would just create a new library and test one or two of those failed files - there has to be a reason for it.   Also if you are a Windows user you might want to turn off all anti-virus and firewall products, just as a test temporarily, to see if the uploads start working. 
    Lastly, make sure that the files themselves are compaitble with iTM - for example, I know that Vorbis files cannot be uploaded.  Probably not a likely problem here, but I don't know your setup so you want to eliminate that as a factor.

    I am trying to update my iTunes Match, and iTunes on my Macbook Air keeps coming back with an error and stating that "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. Please try again later."  I try again later, and it still has the same code.  I have turned of iTunes Match on all my devices and then turned it back on, on just my computer to complete the download and it still will not work.  Same error code every time.  Someone help. Do I need to delete iTunes and iTunes Match and start from scratch?

  • ITunes Match error 4010 remaining library will not upload

    After setting up iTunes Match for the first time much of my 20k track library was successfully uploaded to iCloud. Toward the end of the syncing process with approximately 2000 tracks left to upload I received the following error:
    "We could not complete your iTunes Store Request. An unknown error occurred (4010). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
    Since, my library has not been able to upload the remaining tracks, and all of the four Macs that I am attempting to sync with Match now receive the error each time they attempt to sync which is usually when I start iTunes. This issue has been occurring for the last 3 days now until this morning in which a completely new complication has arisen. Now when I view my library at work (I can not confirm if this issue is occurring on my other Macs at the moment) All of my tracks have the status of either Waiting or Not Eligible. The playlists that I created to track the status of iCloud are empty except for the one that looks for all other statuses other than the primary four that are available to build playlists with. All 18,323 tracks that were able to upload initially before the error started happening are in this playlist now but are no longer showing as Matched or Uploaded, just Waiting or Not Eligible.
    I've refrained from turning on iTunes Match on any of my iOS devices until this issue is resolved.

    I had this error a few days ago - after about an hour, it "fixed itself".  I believe that their server end is either overloaded at times, or they are doing maintenance of some kind and are not informing us.  Best guess, here.   
    I would suggest trying again in an hour or two - if it continues, give them a call just to log the problem.    I plan to call them every single time its down because, if I need to esclate at some point, I want them to see the whole history of the problems I've had.

    Itunes Match seems to have crashed on my computer. It keeps giving me an error box asking me to sign in again. Once I sign in, it gives me the error box and asks me to log out and sign back in again. Endless loop.

    I don't this this is as simple as restarting your modem. I'm having the exact same issue, as you described it. Syncing with iTunes match in bulk via "update iTunes match" from the menu works fine. Adding individual items returns error "4010".
    4010 could literally mean anything. It's an "unknown" error code.
    I think it's a server-side issue given that a lot of people on Twitter are also seeing it, as a quick search reveils. Search "itunes 4010" and you'll see people complaining of errors since March 13th, which is exactly when I began seeing it.
