ITunes Match fails to match recently ripped CD. Can I avoid matching this CD?

I have a CD from a band that is not available on iTunes that I've loaded to my MacBook Pro. As expected iTunes Match can't match this album. As a result, iTunes Match fails to proceed past the third step of the matching process and continously loops. How can I stop this album from being part of the match process?

Hi,
What format have you ripped the CD? There are problems with some ALAC and AIFF files.
If the cd is in your iTunes library, there is no way of stopping match process. Once cd has been uploaded there is a workaround to make remove the tracks from the cloud and not your library.
However, to resolve your current problem you may need to delete the tracks.

  • Error in iTunes Match - "This item cannot be downloaded"

Has anyone else had this issue? I've searched on here but can't see any mention of it.
I have recently uploaded several albums from my pc into iTunes Match and some of the songs were 'matched' and some 'uploaded'. However, when I try to download these songs to my iPhone, only the matched ones download. The uploaded ones give the following error...
    This item cannot be downloaded
The item you have requested is not available for download
The status for these songs in itunes on my pc says Uploaded (no errors) and they are all in Apple Lossless format. I am wondering if the Apple servers need to convert them to 256kps format before they are available for download? But these songs were uploaded a couple of days ago and still won't download. I uploaded some other Lossless songs last week and they were available for download on my iphone almost immediately.
    Any help most appreciated!
    Thanks.

Itunes does modify certain lossless formats - AIFF and WAV - in the background whenever a file in one of those formats is marked for upload.  It is that AAC that gets uploaded, so it's done local on your computer prior to being uploaded. I doubt this is the cause of your problem on the iphone though.
You seem to have the iPhone set properly for downloading from Match, or you wouldn't get the matched songs downloaded.  The easiest way to confirm that is to pick an album where you have a mix of matched and downloaded songs and go to the bottom of the track list on the iPhone and hit "download all"  Watch to see if all the download clouds change to circles and eventually fill in.  If you are still getting that error. I would start by powering down the iPhone, waiting a few minutes before starting it back up, then see if that clears the problem.
Barring that, I'd call Apple support.

  • ITunes match (This will take 5 seconds to answer)

as we know that your tunes are available whenever via iTunes match and at quality of 256KBPS
My question is if you have content that is higher than this E.G 320KBPS will you be able access your music anywhere at this quality =????

    mracole wrote:
    ... for an 'upload' any source Song file >256 kbps will be transcoded to 256 kbps before it is uploaded to icloud;
Actually, that isn't correct. Uploads are only changed to 256kbps if they are greater than 320.
Not that this will help in this case, as matched files will still be at 256.

  • HT204406 I purchased an album from itunes, and put it in a playlist. icloud status lists all the songs as purchased, and when I click on "Update itunes Match", this playlist will not update. There is a cloud to the right of the playlist name.

I purchased an album from the itunes store, and put it in a playlist. icloud status listed all the songs as purchased, instead of the usual "Waiting". When I clicked on "Update itunes Match", everything updated except this playlist. There is a cloud to the right of the playlist name. This has never happened before.
    Any ideas?

I deleted the songs from my desktop (iMac), then I used itunes match to reload the songs back on my desktop from my laptop. When they reappeared on my desktop, then I right-clicked on the songs and clicked on the option to add to icloud. This however did not work, and they just duplicated into icloud, but they were "greyed out" and unuseable. I hope I'm explaining myself clearly? In other words, the songs seem to be trying to go into the cloud, but they are greyed out in my library and cannot download. It is as if they are ghosts? My songs do play fine when I transfer them via itunes match, and everything appears normal. They just won't transfer via the cloud. As I said before, every other song in my library always work fine via the could, but only the songs off this one album that I bought from itunes in 07' will not work???

If you run into the "another installation" message even after the reboot of the PC (which is an excellent idea by HTP ProXy), reregistering your Windows Installer Service is worth a try.
First, launch a command prompt as an administrator. In your Start search, type cmd then right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".
    At the command prompt:
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Restart the PC and try another reinstalll.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I recently purchased iTunes Match. How do I delete music previously downloaded on iPad? It is just using space on my iPad now.

When I check my storage, I notice there are 5gb of music being stored on my iPad. With iTunes Match this should make storage of my music on iPad no problem. I would like to remove the music that was previously downloaded on my iPad, however, there is no obvious way to target the music that was downloaded nor deleting that music either. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

With that much music, it would be easiest to connect your iPad to your computer and via iTunes sync, manage the music on your iPad.  Once your iPad is recognized in iTunes, click on the device once and your iPad will open in iTunes.  Then click on Music and you have the option to check with songs, albums, artists, etc., you want on your device.  Once you're done choosing the music you want, click on Apply on the bottom right hand corner, then sync so you have a current backup.
If you want to delete a song directly on your iPad, open up the Music App,  WIth your finger touch and hold it on any song you want to delete, then swipe your finger to the right and a Delete box will open.  Touch Delete and the song will be deleted.

  • Unable to get iTunes match setup to complete

I recently subscribed to iTunes Match but have been unable to successfully complete the setup process.  I have read many other posts regarding initial matching troublingshooting and tried the following:
-Sign in and out of iTunes Store
    -Disable and re-enable iTunes Match
    -Disable Genius
-Delete any songs that made it to iCloud and start over with zero songs in iCloud
-Creating new blank iTunes library and match, then import songs and match again
I've spent a week trying all of these things, and am pretty convinced the service won't work for me and will seek a refund from Apple, but thought as a last ditch attempt I'd see if anyone had any recommendations I hadn't considered before I try the Google Play cloud music service.
When I start iTunes Match it takes a few hours to gather information about my library, a few minutes on subsequent attempts, but never a few seconds.
The matching step never truly completes.  It most frequently freezes at about 16,000/18,000 songs matched causing me to start everything over (including all the nonsense signing in and out, etc. noted above).  Occasionally it will appear as if it finished, the progress bar complete, saying all 18,000 songs matched and begin uploading unmatched songs.  I've only reached this step about three times in probably 50 attempts at iTunes Match this week.  On each of those occasions, the process completely freezes during upload after 100 songs or so.  I only have about 2000 songs to upload so thought by 'rinsing and repeating' I'd eventually get there, but since the entire process only makes it to the upload step about 5% of the time, instead of 20 attempts it seems like it's going to take a few hundred, which I don't have the patience for.  Also important to note that even after it makes it to the final upload step and successfully uploads ~100 songs before freezing, when I start over again, it always has to re-match 2,000-3,000 songs, so Step 2 takes a couple hours before uploads begin again.
iTunes has matched those 2,000-3,000 songs in my library dozens of times now, and never remembers, I'm not adding anything new to my library.  I also have received the following error a number of times, probably about 5% of the time:
We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-9838).
There was an error in the iTunes Store.  Please try again later.
Appreciate any suggestions before I throw in the towel.  The idea of iTunes Match is great, but as I've been searching for troubleshooting help it's become clear a LOT of people have similar problems and the quality of the service is quite poor.

No! Don't plug in your iPod yet!
Oh good grief, I hope you didn't delete your music, KC! Are you sure it's not still there on your hard drive? Search for files named "mp3" or "m4p".

  • ITunes Match makes my music stutter, pause or skip.

    Hello Everyone.
Have searched the forums and have not found a solution.  Any help is appreciated.
    Info:
•Mac Pro, 10Gb of Ram, running OSX 10.9.5,
•iPhone 5 running most recent IOS.
    •Macbook Pro, 8Gb Ram, Running OSX 10.95
    •iTunes 12.0.1.26,  Running iTunes Match
This is has been an issue for about 3 or 4 months, so it deals with previous versions of iTunes as well.
    Issue:
Only on my Mac Pro, my most powerful computer do I have this issue.  iTunes cannot play a song without stuttering or skipping.  Songs play fine on my laptop and iPhone.
    My internet connection is solid.
I am often times using Photoshop and Illustrator while playing iTunes in the background, I think maybe this detracts from the processing power and RAM needed to run iTunes. HOWEVER- It never seemed to be like this previously.  I could run Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya and my other heavy graphic programs and iTunes would still crank out the songs, no issues.  Also, I often times only have iTunes running and it still will pause or stutter.
It's become a bit annoying as I now have to have my laptop or phone by my side just so I can play music properly while working on my desktop.
Maybe iTunes just doesn't like my music selection anymore?
    Thanks everyone-
    Fraky

    Anyone?

  • PLEASE HELP -- iTunes Match - multiple problems, desktop and iOS

I've been going round and around with this issue for the past couple days (yes, I've been dedicating that much time to it) and finally went to the Genius Bar today to get help and even they were stumped.  Hoping someone here can shed some light on the situation. Next stop, express lane for support.
    Broad Problem:
I paid for iTunes Match around 6 months ago and activated it on my desktop.     Since then, I've had nothing but problems across my desktop and 4 seperate iOS devices (3 iPhone 4's, and an iPad 3).  The basic sympton on the desktop is that iTunes itself frequently freezes (Option-Command-Esc reveals "Application Not Responding") and requires a force quit.   As soon as I turn OFF iTunes Match, this symptom goes away. I can leave iTunes open for hours without any problems.  As soon as I turn it back ON, then the problem comes back -- sometimes iTunes won't launch at all (crashes before bringing the UI up), and other times it's the same freeze that requires a force-quite.  Quite frustrating.
On the iOS side of things, the situation isn't any better.   When I toggle on iTunes Match and then enable "Show All Music" in the Preferences of the iPhone, then I get any one of the two following scenarios:
    A) The Music App simply won't load.  It tries, goes to white, and crashes back to the home screen of my iPhone.
    B) If I'm lucky, the Music app will launch and I can see my entire library in the cloud as intended.  The problems start though when I go to actually download/play songs from the cloud.  Typically, the songs will start playing but I will eventually get an error message that alerts me that there was "Problem Downloading Track".  When I then go into the Download Que of the iTunes Store (again, still on the iPhone), it shows the entire list of songs that I had wanted to download and shows them at various stages of download completion -- even if they have actually completely played on the phone itself.   Sometimes they will time out and display the "problem downloading track/try again" status, and other times the progress bar sits at about 99% with a status of "Processing".
What's particularly strange about scenario B is that I've tried to download a variety of songs to different devices -- my wifes iPhone 4, my iPhone 4, an iPad, and a iPhone 4S that the person at the Genius Bar had me use as a tester.   When I tried the iPhone 4S at the genius bar, I was amazed at how fast it downloaded to the device.  This had the genius bar guy wondering if it was a problem with my phone itself or with the iPhone 4 in particular.   Unfortunately he didn't have a spare iPhone 4 to test with so I had to go home and test with my wife's iPhone 4.  Again, she had the same problem.   The status bar hangs at about 99% showing a status of "processing", even though I have completely listened to the track within the Music App.  The same scenario happens on the iPad as well.
Okay, if you're with me so far:  here's where things start to get REALLY strange....
On MY iPhone 4, when I run into problem A or B, the only fixable solution for me has been to go into Preferences and toggle OFF iTunes Match, completely shut down the phone, restart the phone, and then launch the Music App, at which point I can see the music that has loaded to my phone.    The kicker here is that even though I've turned iTunes Match OFF and completely powered down my phone, when I go into the Music app I can ALSO see my ENTIRE iTunes Match library, completely with cloud status icons.   It's as though I never turned off iTunes Match at all.  In fact, I had to triple check my own preferences to verify that it was turned OFF, which it sure enough is.   I can even go and attempt to download songs, with various levels of success based on the problems above.
Now, on my WIFE's iPhone 4, when I run into problem A or B, I tried the same process in tandem with the phones side by side as I did the test -- turn iTunes Match OFF in Preferences, power down the phone, power up the phone, and launch the Music app.    However, on her phone, when this happens the Music App shows what is to be expected -- only the music that is on the phone itself.
Okay, there's a lot to digest here, but here's the synopsis:  my phone and my wifes phones are behaving differently when displaying iTunes Match, with my phone appearing to completely disregard the status of the On/Off Toggle within Preferences-->Music, and my wifes phone behaving as it should, at least in terms of what it displays.   The download problems are present on each device and the iPad is also behaving like my wifes phone.
Given all of these inconsistencies and irregularities across devices and platforms -- MacBook Pro running Lion, separate iPhone 4's each running iOS 5.1.1, an iPad running iOS 5.1.1. and an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 - my suspicion is that:
    A) I've got a corrupt iTunes library file residing in the cloud
    or
    B) iTunes Match is having a hard time reconciling my Apple ID across so many devices (possibly complicated by issue A)
The bottom line is that I have paid for iTunes Match and have never been able to use it successfully or with any predictability.
I'm wondering if anyone else has any symptoms that match any of this and/or have come across a corrupted file in the cloud and, if so, how to remedy the situation.  Since it's in the cloud, I can't do anything about.  I can't even see it.  Most troubling.
    Note:
When I went to the Genius Bar, they had me do a complete restore of the phone (not from backup) to elminate any corrupt files within the phone itself.  Even that didn't solve the problem.   That's when he brought out the 4S phone to test on and we were both so shocked at how blazingly fast the songs downloaded, error-free.  That phone was able to download 8 songs completely before one song downloaded to my phone sitting right next to it.  Both on the same Apple Store network and both downloading the exact same tracks using my Apple ID and login.   While it's tempting to say that the 4S is faster than the 4, I don't think it's 8 times faster with download speeds over WiFi.   However, even if the speed/completion discrepancy is because the 4S is superior, it doesn't explain the mind-boggling disparity between my wife's phone and my phone -- both iPhone 4's and both running the same iOS.   Throw in the oddity of iTunes on Lion crashing whenever iTunes Match is on and this all seems to point to some corruption in the cloud that perhaps the 4S device is able to bypass...for whatever reason.
    Please help.  This is nuts.

Exactly same problem - any ideas - I get error message 14
