ITunes Match falling asleep on the job
I've been using iTunes Match for about a week, and it's been working pretty much as advertised. But suddenly today, it's stopped working from my work machine. I have my library at home, but I listen from the cloud at work. Today, when I wanted to start my music, I noticed that all the track listings were grayed out and they would not play. I consulted the support board, and read that I should stop and start iTunes Match. I did this, it prompted me for my Apple ID, and all the tracks came back. I began listening to my music, when suddenly, they grayed out again. I've stopped and started iTunes Match 4 times now. Each time, the tracks come back, and then after about 4 minutes, they gray out. Our IT tech has assured me that our firewall is not blocking the stream. Since my connection has been up for web browsing this whole time, it would appear that something is wonky with Apple's servers. I realize I'm not going to get a straight answer from Apple regarding the status of their servers, but I was wondering if others had noticed this particular issue this morning.
Up until today, my $25 was well-spent. But if I keep seeing this sort of wonky connection problem, it will have proven to be a big mistake.
Based on further observations of our network, the problem may be connectivity between us and Apple, so I'm letting them off the hook for the moment.

have iTunes Match, but some of the music I loaded from CDs and I can see in the iTunes store won't play. It recognizes the album but is playing literally the only 3 songs I don't want to listen to.
How do I get to play all of my music that should be stored either on the computer or in the cloud?Hi,
Initially your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Once match completes its scan, your music will have been matched or uploaded. I suggest that you add iCloud status column to song view. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting. What is the status of your tracks that are not playing.
If space is not an issue, I suggest that you keep the music on the internal hard drive otherwise you can delete the tracks and play from cloud. In both instances, you should maintain a back up of all your music on a separate hard drive.

I have a large music library on my iPad, that is not currently on iCloud or on my main PC. If I sign up for iTunes Match, and then turn the iTunes Match on my iPad, will the music library from the iPad that is not currently in iCloud move to the iCloud? Or will I loose all that music?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Tap the song you wish to download. -
Does iTunes match need to locate the actual files or just see its record in your library database? I am currently traveling in US and I have US and Australian iTunes accounts. But all my music files are on a hard drive in Australia. Can I start using itunes music match while I am travelling without the actual music files attached to my itunes?
In your situation I strongly recommend you read over that KB article. The international iTunes Stores are not cross-compatible.
My understanding of how it would work is that when activating iTunes Match on your US Store account, any songs you have in your iTunes Library that were purchased from the AUS Store account will NOT be matched. As I understand it, those files will be uploaded (which means you need the files on a local HDD). I also do not think it is possible to have iTunes Match active on more than one store ID on the same computer. But since iTunes Match is not available internationally yet, that point is moot for the moment.
To be honest you might want to wait until the service is available internationally so you can guage how will it will serve you. -
I accidentally deleted my media files from iTunes and Trash when I was trying to move the files to an external hard drive. Is there a way to restore the media files from a Time Machine backup or from iTunes Match? What are the steps to do this?
If you have been backing up on Timemachine.
All you need to do is enter time machine... Then the rest is obvious.
Find the iTunes folder and hit 'Restor'.
If not the only way to get all your iTunes music back is to enter iTunes Store.
On the right hand side you should see 'Purchased'.
Click 'purchased' and there you have it. -
Library Issue: I just imported 2 CD's into ITunes. They show up in "Recently Added" and on my other devices via ITunes Match, but NOT in the ITunes software on the computer where I added them. They show up in the search box, but when I click on the results it just kicks me to ALL my music. I have imported thousands of songs/CD's before and this is a new one.
Something may have gone wrong with the index of the Music playlist. Making another change to the library such as downloading the current iTunes Free Single of the Week, or deleting one track from your library and reimporting it, should fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up which ought to correct things.

Will I lose my iTunes Matched song copies in the Cloud if I do not renew my iTunes Match subscription ?
Yes.

my iTunes Match can not pass the step 2, it keeps repeat again and again. Pls advise. Thank you.
Very strange. Two items to try:
a. Enable iCloud Status and iCloud Download fields in Song view, sort on status and look for any 'waiting' or 'error';
b. If (a) looks good, establish a new user account, create an empty library and enable iTunes Match, confirm that this provides access to all Songs and is working well.
These are seeking to ensure both no bad Songs or local Library corruption - both are relatively quick. -
When I activate iTunes Match it goes through the process of analysing my library, then it matches a few songs but always then stops stating that the network dropped out - any ideas?

Well, you don't have to write down anything. Just click on the message and copy it. Then paste it here, or in a text editor (eg, TextEdit). And you can enter a string like "Audio CD" (w/o the quote marks) in the filter and see only messages containing it.
mds[71]: (Error) Server: Failed to register path "/Volumes/Audio CD"
That's the metadata server, used by Spotlight. AFAIK, Spotlight does not index audio CDs, so what is this about? I don't know. Maybe it's the cause of what you observe; or maybe it's another symptom. Thinking again of the network issue… have you maybe installed some third-party software related to both Spotlight and the network (Searchlight perhaps)? -
Upgraded to iPhone 5s but iTunes Match won't download the music I previously had on my 4s
I backed up my iPhone 4S (ios7). Synced my iPhone 5s (ios7) as a restore from my 4s backup. Everything shows except for my iTunes Match music. My playlist titles show, but contain no music. Also - no music under Albums, Songs, etc. I have turned iTunes Match on and off. It says it is downloading iTunes Match and I get the status bar. Once the bar is finished , there are still no songs on my 5s. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks!
On the iPhone disable iTM then open the Music app and let the content clear out. Now re-enable iTM.

If I fall asleep on the phone, will my alarm still go off?
I sometimes fall asleep on the phone, will my alarm still go off if I'm still on the pone at let's say 8 am. But not awake, will my alarm sound and wake me?
You fall asleep while on the phone and the other party doesn't hang up during all that time?
I've seen posts here with people complaining about an alarm they have set going off while on the phone or while doing something else. I'm pretty sure an alarm that is set will sound off regardless which is by design so the alarm isn't missed. -
I started downloading ITunes Match last night. The first 2 steps downloaded okay. The 3rd step is stuck at the beginning 64 out of 2479. It is still stuck. What should I do?
Are you using the charger and cable that came with the phone?
Are you using an unauthorized third party charger? -
Good afternoon. I want to turn off itunes match subscription and cancel the remaining balance on my account to change the country store as I do this?
You will need to contact Apple by call to gain the appropriate support directly. There can be significant issues in changing country.
First step is always to ensure that you have a secure backup of all of your Songs. -
I downloaded CD's to my itunes library. I have itunes match. All my itunes purchased music is on my ipad and iphone cloud. For some reason, while the cloud appears in my library, the CD's that I downloaded (popular ones that itunes recognize) are not showing up on my ipad2 and my iphone4s. When I purchase songs from itunes directly they show up on all i devices (with the cloud icon). In my itunes library all the new downloads from CD's have the icloud icon. However, none of these downloads are showing up on my ipad and iphone as stated above. All my settings are correct. I am sure I am missing something, but not sure what....if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. thanks.

I am having major problems with itunes match. I cannot operate it from my pc as every time it tries to get the information itunes stops responding and shuts down. It then can take 15 minutes of more to reopen itunes as it check my library. I have reinstalled itunes and my software is up to date. It is intensly irritating as I have to remember to tune match off or else I cannot do anything in itunes. Any ideas or do I just tell Apple I want my money back?
If I am persistent and keep tapping the download icon then one by one I can download the entire album but it normally takes a few hours/days. Anyone else had this?
