Itunes match freezes at step 3

It completes step #2 then starts step #3.  It almost immediatley then goes back all the way to step #1.
It has done this about 10 times in a row.  How do I get around this?

I went into View, View Options and added iCloud Status column.
I sorted by that and deleted all the ERROR and Ineligible Protected songs.
I stopped iTunes Match from the Store menu, Exited iTunes, ran Repair Permissions From Disk Utilities.
Started iTunes and Turned on iTunes Match from the Store Menu
Then the songs that were left started making upload progress.
The upload stalled near te end of te last upload, so I had to stop and exit, then restart the iTunes Match and it finally uploaded all and was Done.
I still have the problem where my iPad, when I try to enable iTunes Match, states that I am Not Subscribed.
Can you help witih this?  I tried both Apple IDs.

  • Itunes Match Freezes On Step 3

I have just bought itunes match, and it is getting stuck on step 3 everytime. It says 1 of 63 items uploaded and stay's there, for ever. I have tried turning off my firewall/anti virus, I have deleted all the songs that said waiting etc. I know have no idea where or what these 63 items are as there is no status next to anything in my itunes. Everything either says matched, uploaded, ineligible or purchased. I cant find what is causing it to hang.

Still no joy on why this happens, and nearly a year on. Why don't this system work? Why are there so many people having problems with this crap yet no apple support or solution? I have today discovered a few more tracks that this happens to.
I have sat all day today importing some of my cd collection into iTunes. The tracks that stick on step 3 (18 in total) are say, one track from one cd, two from another and so on. All are with in match requirements/criteria as the other tracks from the same cd uploaded fine. I've had this problem before and it was track size etc, but not this time.
I have removed all 18 tracks and tried to do one track at a time. Every single one of the 18 causes match to freeze on step 3. And what's worse is when it does this, my broadband drops from 19.5mps to 1.56mps and slows the whole house down (well, two kids sat on Xbox live moaning like they just lost a limb or something).
I don't want to have to delete the odd tracks from albums etc just to make my iTunes work. It should just work. Skip the faulty tracks etc and/or notify me. Not just freeze and lock everything up, slowing down everything and saying 'sod it'. Or is 'sod it' apples attitude now they got all their money? It seems the same feeling is spreading across the board as more and more people are getting fed up with the apple 'way', product, no support, cost's and attitude etc etc. it's so frustrating :-(

  • Itunes match freezing at step one

I have had itunes match for a few years now.
Today I have been trying to update itunes match as I have a couple of new mp3s but it is freezing at step one. I have restarted numerous times both my imac and itunes itself but to no avail. I left it for about 6 hours and still frozen. Internet connection is working fine. The new songs I purchased off itunes on my iphone 5 have downloaded fine, but the new mp3s just wont upload. Stuck on step one.
Imac and Itunes have the latest update.

It's working for me (just tried it now) - it's showing that the status is currently green, but last night there were iCloud service issues.  I have no idea why it's not working for you.   It was a suggestion to restart the service, given the information at hand.
Other than restarting the Match process, my only other suggestions are ones I've mentioned here:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3626829.   Also, keep in mind that Apple tech support doesn't necessarily peruse these boards, it's a peer to peer service (I don't work for Apple - I'm a user just like you are).  If you need to escalate, I would also suggest that you call Apple directly.

  • ITunes match freezes in step 2

Just installed iTunes Match, but the synching doesn't go any further than number 385 or so. Restarted the computer, restarted iTunes, restarted synching, but nothing helps
I know I'm not the only person with this problem. Has anyone already solved the issue?

Guess what? Retried every day, and today it seems to work!

  • Why is iTunes Match freezing at step 3 for over 24 hours?

I have subscribed and received confirmation of my subscription. I have tried three times to go through the three steps and am freezing up in step three for over 24 hours. There is no help shown any where. I am seeing many, many others with this problem but no solution. Is anyone from Apple out there? What am I and all other to do?

  • ITunes Match stop at step 3 on the same music.

My iTunes Match freezed at step 3 on the same music. I tried to stop and restart but it didn't change.

Start deleting songs from your library that require to be uploaded and each time you do an album update match and see if it goes further.
Be sure to check that box that also deletes it from the cloud also.
If it does not go any further move to the next album until you find the one that is holding it up.
I don't know any other way to tell you to do it.
Just start deleting songs that require you to upload until you find the right one.
At least you don't have 5,000 to check.  You only have 700 or so.
If you had to delete them all and then re add them into your library it really isn't that many.

You've tried tapping on the Collections button at the top of the bookshelf to see if they are in a different collection ? If not then do you have a copy of them in the Books part of your computer's iTunes library (though PDFs aren't iTunes purchases, if you've done 'transfer purchases' whilst they were on the iPad then they should have copied over) ?
ibooks and PDFs aren't included in a device's backup, so if they aren't in your computer's iTunes library and/or you don't have your own backup copy of them then they won't be on your computer (for info there isn't an iBooks app/program for a Mac or PC).

  • ITunes Match stops after step 3

    Hi,
I am not able to finish the iTunes Match workflow. Step 1 & 2 are going through successfully, but when it comes to step 3 (loading graphics and songs) it sometime is loading a few articles and then stops. The button on the bottom right corner change to "Start". when I start it again it shows the same behavior and I am not able to finishing the process.
Any help or hints would be highly appreciate
    Johannes

I am having the same problem. I have 6000 songs that are waiting to be uploaded (they are all unprotected 256kbps AAC files). When iTunes Match reaches step 3, it seems to upload 1 or 2 songs and then stops. Sometimes it doesn't upload anything. What is going on?

  • Itunes crashes when iTunes Match runs its Step 3 (not before) - any ideas why and how to fix it?

Every time iTunes runs the iTunes Match, when iTunes MAtch gets to Step 3 - iTunes stops working - ie crashes. Any idea why and how to fix it? The songs are still uploaded to iCloud etc... but it crashe iTunes every single time

I cannot explain the failure, but I can tell you that I have a string of approx. 24 emails with Apple and a combined 10hrs of talk time with Apple customer reps that tried helping me precisely for the issue that iTunes Match would crash at Step 3 without fail. Apple even logged my Console and I was talking to an engineer that literally wrote part of the code for iTunes Match (that was the fourth and last level of customer care I was escalated to). The poor man almost quite his job, and I just about demanded a refund for my $25, since iTunes Match simply wasn't working.
Then I studied at a friend's place, and I noticed that all of a sudden, while iTunes was running in the background, half my library was already uploaded and things were progressing smoothly. It turns out that it had something to do with my modem specifically, as I had already hooked up my computer straight to the modem, taking the router (TimeCapsule) out of the equation. Nothing worked. Firewalls were turned off, no AntiVirus existed, and Apple engineers tried everything possible, incl. remote access on my computer, to get this to work. Nothing worked as long as I was connected to a Motorola Surboard.
At every other network, wether at Starbucks, my university, or at friends places, however, iTunes Match worked flawlessly.
After some research online, it turnes out that a handful of people with Motorola Surrboard Xtreme cable modems had similar issues. Eversince, I simply use my neighbors wifi should I need to upload songs, and I have no issues. Oddly enough, matching (not uploading) works just fine with my Motorola.
Don't ask me how or why, I am interested in computers and work with them a lot, but I am no engineer. I can tell you that simple scientific method pinpointed to the modem, and I haven't had issues since then.

  • ITunes Match Crashing at Step 3 (won't upload)

I've been using iTunes Match for quite some time now but the last few weeks, maybe longer, it crashes at step 3 where it tries to upload anything that wasn't automatically matched.  There are only 2 songs that it tries to upload, but each time it crashes.  This is the error report:

This thread: This solved my questionRe: iTunes Match Crashing at Step 3 (won't upload). Posted right above your previous post.

so how do I remove that song without deleting it? (That was my question before -- sorry, I'm not trying to be willfully obtuse -- I just don't understand how to do it.)
If you know the one track that is causing a crash delete it from the iTunes library by highlighting it and typing Option+Delete on the keyboard. In the dialog choose the option to "keep files."

Why do I have so many unmatched songs? Does changing the Album, Artist, Song information (which I often do because I don't really like the classical music descriptors automatically provided) make the title unmatchable?
Because the matching process is not 100% accurate; or you have an older mastering of an album that did match to what is in the store; or something in your library is not availble in the store. In short your library simply will not "match" 100%. There will be a percentage that must be uploaded.

  • ITunes Match freezes PC during Step 1!?!?!

I am running Windows Vista on my PC and purchased iTunes Match to put my music collection in the cloud.  3/4 of the way through Step 1, iTunes freezes and so does my computer.  I have to unplug my computer (which is definitely not healthy for it) and reboot.  I thought it might be my computer going to sleep, but I shut all of the power saving stuff off and it still happens.  Any suggestions?

How to Fix Step 2 and Step 3 Errors in iTunes: Music Media Formats, and Checking Firewall
This solution assumes that you do not have corruption in your iTunes library database. To fix that follow the steps in Apple Support KB ht1251 above.
Step 1, 2, or 3 Hangs: Problems with Media Formats.
If you have heterogenous media formats in your music files, some of them will FAIL iTunes match, causing it to hang. This is a software error in iTunes match, which should mark the files as "Not eligible" instead of remaining stuck in an endless loop. These errors never occur if all the songs in the music library are unprotected AAC 256 kbps music files encoded by iTunes 10.5.1.
There are two basic ways to upgrade your song media formats to iTunes 10.5.1 AAC encoding - encode all of them at once, or do them selectively. In either method, you must delete the original version from iTunes and your file system. If you previously loaded them to iCloud, get rid of them there also.
You will be able to see a hung file in OS/X under Activity Monitor -> iTunes -> Inspect Process -> Open Files and Ports. In Windows you will have to use standard Task Manager inspections.
In my iTunes library, I found that certain AAC (m4a) files which were encoded in before 2011 were stuck, and m4p Protected AAC files. I had already fixed the encoding of MP3s, so I was suprised that music previously encoded by iTunes was hanging up.
You may convert all files which were not encoded at 256 kbps AAC with a right-mouse click. Find them:
    1) individually in iTunes as you discover them in Open Files and Ports trace, or
    2) by creating a sort smart playlist that matches their pattern. For example, a playlist with bit-rate < 256k.
After converting them, you MUST delete the previous file(s) from your iTunes library. I suggest you move the actual file to trash, and delete the trash. Archive the files if you wish. If any of them were already matched to iTunes Match, you must delete them there also.
After getting rid of older media formats, re-run iTunes match. Step 2 should complete, and your Open Files and Ports window should no longer show any music file open in your iTunes library. If it does show, convert it and remove the old file from your library.
If you have converted your music library and Step 3 is still stuck, it is likely a Firewall problem. Check the last line in Open Files and Ports, and use the information in the last rows to check your firewall settings. The upload port is shown in this form, 192.168.1.1:53089->72.21.214.201:https. If you see this type of row, but nothing is being uploaded, a firewall or other issue is blocking that port.
In my case the block was created by my broadband modem settings. Check with the installation guide for your modem - typically they can be managed by a http:// address such as http://192.168.1.254. Change the firewall settings as needed.

  • ITunes Match colapse in step 2

When I add new songs to itunes and update itunes match the process freeze in step 2 when almost check all songs except 1 or 2

Same boat here. Tried three times over the weekend, each time it claims to have processed 10908 items (out of 11023 in my Library), 0 items remaining. No progress after that, though iTunes has been uploading several hundred K per second for the last several hours. Maybe it's uploading my unmatched stuff? Who knows?
Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in their cloud strategy overall if they can't get even get music matching working in a reasonable amount of time. It's been in beta for a couple months, shouldn't be this slow, definitely shouldn't be this uncommunicative about what it's doing.
At the very least it should indicate that everything's going ok and eventually it will complete. Right now I simply have no idea if it's working or just caught in an endless loop.

  • ITunes Match: Stuck in Step 1

I've seen some older posts on this subject, but I haven't seen a definative resolution or explanation.  So, I'm posting my own request.
I had iTunes Match over a year ago... then I cancelled to subscription.   Just yesterday, I decided to start iTunes Match again (I was without it for about 8 months).
I have an iMac which has about 9,000 songs in iTunes.  And a MacBook Air with about 250 songs.  iTunes v11.0.2 (25)  OSX 10.8.3
My concern is with my iMac and the 9,000 songs.
I start iTunes Match... "Add this computer".
It enters the Step 1 'Gathering' phase.   The progress bar starts...
THEN the process stops.   The 'STOP' button at the lower right turns to 'START'.
If I wait for a minute or so,   iTunes Match seems to start again still in Step 1,  the progress bar seems to get to about the same place, and hangs there until the process stops again.  Only to start again by itself a short time later.
This has been going on for HOURS!  It never seems to get any further on the progress bar.
ALSO, with my MBA, even with it's tiny database of 250 songs seemed to be trouble.  The process only took about an hour or so... still it STARTED and STOPPED the process maybe 50-75 times to get through... at least with the MBA I was able to see some movement of the progress bar during each renewed Matching session.
Is this enough information for someone to tell me what is happening?  Is this a 'Problem'?  Or is iTunes Match just taking super long to 'Gather' info.
HERE'S WHAT I'VE TRIED... only to get back to the same symptom above:
    Rebuilt the iTunes Library.
Turned OFF Match, then turned ON Genius... THEN turned on Match
What I DIDN'T try was to create an entirely new iTunes Library and copy everything over.  I hope that is not the ONLY solution.
Thanks for any input on this subject!
    - Craig

    Hello Kelsoguy
If you are having an issue with iTunes Match, the first thing I would do is quit iTunes and turn off iTunes Match. Turn it back on and see if it starts it process again. If you still cannot get it to work, report the issue to iTunes.

  • ITunes match stalling on step 2

My step 2 has also stalled. After reading the prior posts I understand the issues with the server and response to the new service. My question is, if I close my MacBook, will the sync continue when I reopen it? Or will I need to stop it and start it over. Thanks!

Suggest selecting iTunes Match from the left pane and requesting 'stop' prior to closing iTunes client.
When you start iTunes again, iTunes Match will automatically attempt to synchronise the library.
