ITunes match, Internet Access really needed??!!

iTunes Match says it requires internet access, so what if you live in the city and take the train where there is no internet access, does that mean you can't listen to music?

1. Using the SSL cert in the TMG for external connections, and using HTTP between TMG and SP is perfectly fine (though you should be aware that TMG is being EOL'ed)... it provides SSL offloading. But I'm not sure why you've got an internal self-signed cert,
and why it's in the IIS bindings...
2. If you're expecting INTERNAL users to access SharePoint over HTTPS, then the TMG isn't doing SSL offloading, it's just spending CPU cycles translating between certs for no good reason.
3. Extending the web app should NOT be necessary... this process will create a SECOND IIS site for the SAME content database, but will use the DIFFERENT settings in the web.config (things like authentication, policies, etc)... it generates a LOT more hassle
than it's worth, and is rarely necessary.
Assuming internal users access over HTTP (not HTTPS), ditch the cert on the SP box... confirm that it works as it should internally... TMG keeps the SSL cert, and should map HTTPS external to HTTP internal... and depending whether external and internal users
are hitting SP with the same name (FQDN vs hostname), you may or may not need an AAM - I would recommend FQDN for all cases.

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...
    Next...
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion
With Regard to ML...  Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using... Also note that Rosetta is no longer supported in Lion and Mountain Lion...

  • HT204406 itunes match not accessing itunes store

I have had numerous problems with itunes match.  Currently I am trying to upload 5 new songs to Itunes, but my itunes account has been trying to access the itunes store for the past 8 hours with no luck.  I have tried numerous times exiting itunes, restarting my computer, and checking the settings in my itunes account.  I have deleted apple bonjour software and was wondering if that was the reason.  I also use windows 7.
Does anyone have advice to correct this issue?
    Thanks

"turn off itunes match" is not highlighted and cannot change settings either, as well as "update itunes match".

  • Workaround for internet access that needs to 'log in'??

Hi, I recently got internet service (Consolidated Smart Systems) in my apartment. The trouble is that I need to enter a username and password each time I want to use the internet. Think of it like accessing the internet in Starbucks. Of course this means that Apple TV can't access the internet.
I was hoping there was some work around solution... I have an iMac that I leave always on and therefore I don't need to enter the username and password to keep the internet connection on. I also have an Airport Extreme. Is there someway I can setup Airport Extreme to have the login details in it so then the Apple TV won't have to log in?
Don't know if this is clear but would appreciate any help!

Guess not... have to get a different internet service provider!

Is there any way we can each have a seperate account, or are there ways to do folders so we can avoid all of this hassle?
    TIA

thank you, that is helpful, I do have a few questions...Before I mess with my library I need to know if 'deselecting copy files' means unchecking them (?) and what if my pc doesn't have an 'open' key? I am on Windows.

  • Itunes will not open after uninstall and re-download, I only get a message itunes match accessing itunes store which goes on for a long time

I could not open I-tunes.  I had used it a week before but it was spotty and then eventually it would not open at all.   I uninstalled it then downloaded it.  I restarted the computer.  When I tried to open itunes, I got a message "ITunes match. Accessing iTunes store" and it does not go beyond that.  I've tried this process twice.  I had my Norton support service do a tuneup and they downloaded iTunes but it will still not work. help!

  • I have all my music on an external hard drive.  It is on iTunes on my old Mac mini, which cannot support the new OS, which in turn means I cannot get iTunes match. I have a new Air. What is the best way to get my music where I want/need it?

anybody have any idea how I should get that music from the hard drive to the air without having it docked all the time?

If you have iTunes Match, you don't need to use Home Sharing.
Can I get that to work through Home Sharing?
No. iTunes Match gets your music from the cloud. You upload from one computer and you can then downlaod to the other computer.

  • ICloud and iTunes match

Have an iPhone4 and iPad2 both with all latest updates. Also using iCloud and iTunes Match.
What is the best way to set these up? I don't need music on either device but noticed my entire iTunes library on both devices. I really don't need music on either device except what I choose for each. Noticed my phone close to needing more storage, so I tried to swipe and delete albums but nothing happened. I went  to the music icon and deleted everything which showed  no data.  Then selected the music icon at bottom of phone and all the music is still there.
I also backed up the phone and iPad on iCloud but nothing shows on iCloud.
What is suggested? Should I back these up to iCloud or to themselves or even iTunes? ITunes Match allows access to iTunes library in ICloud but checking iCloud I don't  see an iTunes library or iPhone in iCloud. Perhaps I don' need iTunes Match?
Need some guidance on the best way to set things up and what some of you have done. Also how do I delete the music on the phone with what I described earlier.
    Thanks
    Don

iCloud and itunes match are different services.  iCloud really has no impact on iTunes match.  When you set up itunes match, I assume your itunes music library was synced up to the match cloud.  You other devices list all the music but don't have it physically on the device until you download it.
You might post over at the itunes match forum where users there are more knowledgeable than most here.

  • How do I change ownership on iTunes Match from one account to another?

I purchased iTunes Match using one account but use another as my account for iCloud and my iPhone. How do I change ownership of my Match account?

I don't think you can.  Purchases made with an account are tied permanently to that account.  This is the reason why it is not a good idea to have more than one iTunes account unlesss you really need to keep them separate.

  • ITunes Match Isn't Showing Up

I recently got a Mac Book Pro.  Instead of transfering all of my music I just was using iTunes Match to access all of my songs.  This morning when I went to go use my iTunes only those songs I had previously downloaded on my computer showed up in iTunes.  The rest were the fadded color and could not be played.  I am connected to the internet but these songs were still not showing up.  So I then tunred off iTunes Match and Turned it back on.  These songs have now completely disappeared and I can only see the previously downloaded.  I have been able to access my iTunes Match via my iPhone so it is not an issue with my Match.  Any help on why they wont show up on the computer?

  • Consolidating multiple itunes libraries and then upload to itunes match

I have over the years my taste in music evolved and I attempted to organize my music library using iTunes, on multiple PCs. I would remove music that no longer suited me from the library and leave only the music that I was actively interested in. Also, both my wife and I have different ITunes Libraries on our respective computers, and indoubtably have the same songs in our libraries. Now that Apple is offering the ITunes Match feature, I would like to consolidate my current ITunes library as well as music from my older PCs. I know for a fact that combining all my music from their various sources will create an extreme amount of duplicates, but will also provide me with music that I used to enjoy. I have spoken with the folks as the local Apple store and have honestly not received a response that makes me comfortable with using ITunes Match. So I will pose my questions here, and hopefully somebody can enlighten me. ;-)
Will ITunes Match remove duplicate songs from my library if they are not named the same exact thing?
Can I simply create a new ITunes library and import all the music from my various PCs, which will create duplicates and let ITunes Match remove the duplicates?
Both my wife and I have differenrt Apple Ids that we use for our iDevices. If I were to create a single library and upload it to Itunes Match, would we both need to use the same Apple Id going forward?
Many of the songs that I have are remixes, how would ITunes Match handle these?
    Thank You in advance!!!!
    Bobby

    Summary answer:
iTunes Match does not remove duplicates.  It does not use the data about a Song such as Name to discriminate.  The match process uses sampled sound, so re-mixes and new releases are recognised as discrete.  The match process is not 100% accurate, so there will be a number of mismatches.  This demands effective secure backup of Song files outside iTunes Match as the route to safeguarding your music.
Perhaps the best advice would be to create a music account with an iTunes library where you import all Songs to date.  Typically use of 3rd party tools to tidy this new main library will be a very effective route to provide iTunes Match with the best start point you can.  Use of a single Apple Id to access this from the cloud will be needed.  Beware that Apple has strict rules on association of Apple Ids with devices.  Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627.

  • ITunes Match not a Dance Teacher's friend... yet

Hello. I am a professional Dance Instructor and immediately fell in love with the potential of an iPad in teaching dance. Video, music, and note taking are very useful in my field. So I went from one iPad to two iPads and two iPhones to really use this potential. I also added a nifty little program called DJAY to help speed or slow music as well as cut music for student and professional needs.
All was basically wonderful until I fell for iTunes Match. I really initially liked the idea to store my music on the iCloud so I could utilize my large dance music library on all my devices depending on the need. However, I have been regreting this ever since. Here are my reasons why.
    1. There is absolutely no control in what music is available in the Cloud. Most of my music will not be on iTunes because it is ballroom and Latin dance specific. However, when I open an album on my iPad that has been uploaded to the cloud, presumably, it is not accessible for some reason. I am disappointed by how many times I have not had a song available to play because of this foolishness, on a lesson.
    2. I have lost the ability to download a specific song to make accessible to programs like DJAY to slow down or edit. Instead I have to download an entire album, or playlist or whatever. This uses space that I was trying to keep available using iTunes Match to begin. Even then, I went ahead and downloaded a much larger group of songs than I wanted and, surprise, it hasn't downloaded yet. This was twelve hours ago.
This got worse with iTunes 11. Essentially, as far as music is concerned, these two factors have made my iPads/iPhones useless for what I do. Still, I hold out hope that this isn't hopeless.
I sincerely could use some advice and workarounds that could assist these problems, and Apple to give us a little more control over our music libraries.

  • ITunes Match and wma files

I have a ton of wma files that i would like to load onto my phone. Most of these are from burned cds I believe. Can I use itunes match to access these on my phone?

I don't have Match or WMA files but from reading I believe you would have to convert the WMA files to some more iTunes-friendly format first, then do the match.  Of course Match will provide 256k AAC if it is available so it won't be your original WMA.
You also need iTunes on Windows to convert WMA.  Mac iTunes cannot convert or play WMA.
