ITunes Match makes my music stutter, pause or skip.

Hello Everyone.
Have searched the forums and have not found a solution.  Any help is appreciated.
Info:
•Mac Pro, 10Gb of Ram, running OSX 10.9.5,
•iPhone 5 running most recent IOS.
•Macbook Pro, 8Gb Ram, Running OSX 10.95
•iTunes 12.0.1.26,  Running iTunes Match
This is has been an issue for about 3 or 4 months, so it deals with previous versions of iTunes as well.
Issue:
Only on my Mac Pro, my most powerful computer do I have this issue.  iTunes cannot play a song without stuttering or skipping.  Songs play fine on my laptop and iPhone.
My internet connection is solid.
I am often times using Photoshop and Illustrator while playing iTunes in the background, I think maybe this detracts from the processing power and RAM needed to run iTunes. HOWEVER- It never seemed to be like this previously.  I could run Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya and my other heavy graphic programs and iTunes would still crank out the songs, no issues.  Also, I often times only have iTunes running and it still will pause or stutter.
It's become a bit annoying as I now have to have my laptop or phone by my side just so I can play music properly while working on my desktop.
Maybe iTunes just doesn't like my music selection anymore?
Thanks everyone-
Fraky

  • HT204074 Can iTunes Match take the music I have on my iPod Classic and be able to share it with my other devices?

I have the original 80 gig iPod Classic that is about half full of music I had burned from the old cd collection years ago, it was all on my laptop but that has long since crashed and burned, leaving me with the trusty classic as the only copy, now it's acting up and being temperamental and I'm hoping this is the way to get all my music backed up and accessible.

You can only subscribe to iTunes Match, and upload music to it, from a computer's iTunes.
There are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy your music back from your iPod : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

Try posting in the iTunes Match forum, you'll probably find more knowledgeable folks there.  iTunes Match is a different service from iCloud.

    hI, bella
I also met this issue a few days ago and I finally find out how to transfer music from iPod to computer:
    1. Plug your iPod in and wait for the computer to recognize it.
    2. Open up 'My Computer' and under 'Devices With Removable Storage', double click and open apple iPod.
    3. Click on 'Tools' at the top of the window and drag down to 'Folder Options'.
    4. Under the 'View' tab, find the subfolder called 'Hidden files and folders'.
    5. Select the option 'Show hidden files and folders'.
    6. Click 'OK'.

  • HT4914 Can I use iTunes Match to transfer music from an iPhone4 to a new iPhone5s? I'm traveling without my laptop!

Can I use iTunes Match to transfer music from an iPhone4 to a new iPhone5s? I'm traveling without my laptop!
    - Music was purchased outside of iTunes store
    - On a vacation
    - iPhone 4 has all my music
    - No access to iTunes
    - Want to buy a new iPhone 5s on vacation but this is holding me back

Honestly, I've never used iTunes Match.
Keep in mind that iTunes Match is only for music, any other media content would not be affected.
Also, pictures synced to the device from a computer will not be moved over unless the new device is restored from a backup on that computer.
Personaly, unless the current iPhone was damaged or otherwise acting as if on it's last leg, I'd wait.  There may be better options in 3 months.

  • Itunes Match makes Music App stop working on iPhone 4

I've had iTunes Match for about a month and my iPhone 4 music app has been sluggish throughout. Today when I tried to play any music on the phone it refused, I can't play anything. I pick an album, press play and nothing happens - it just stays stuck on zero minutes of the song. So I've had to turn iTunes Match off. It's very disappointing.
I should add that I have a friend who has an iPhone 4S and he has no sluggishness problems, perhaps the iPhone 4 can't handle Match?

I've just discovered my Mac has accumulated 56 crash reports for the Music App this year! I have an iPhone 4 and the iTunes Match service makes the whole phone sluggish.
Did you ever find a solution?

  • ITunes Match only shows music I bought on iTunes

I have a new Apple TV and just subscribed to iTunes Match. On my iPad I can access my entire library of music from the iTunes Match cloud (things I bought from iTunes and things I bought elsewhere).  On my Apple TV, when I go to "My Music" all I see are the songs I have purchased from iTunes. The rest of my library doesn't show up (and that's a LOT of music).
Is Apple TV's iTunes Match limited just to iTunes purchases? I hope not because that would make it nearly useless.

Thanks for the help guys, but I might need to clarify some things as I think we're talking about different things.
AirPlay works - I can play anything off of my iPad through Apple TV.  Since my iPad can access my entire iTunes Match library then I can stream anything in it through Apple TV.
Home Sharing works - I can access my iTunes library on my computer via Apple TV when I've got iTunes up and running on the computer.
What does not work is using iTunes Match on my Apple TV.  I have turned on iTunes Match on my Apple TV, but the only songs that show up on my Apple TV are ones that I purchased on iTunes.
I want to be able to access my iTunes Match library via my Apple TV without using Home Sharing or AirPlay.  Those options work great when I'm home, but sometimes I take my computer and iPad to work and my family will not have access to them.

  • Got iTunes match, synced up music from laptop to phone, headed out listening to playlist, all of a sudden, mid-song, music stopped and all music was gone and needed to be re-downloaded

Ok, so I initially bought the cloud mainly in the hopes that I could store all of my music on it and have access to it on my phone, which ended up not being the case. Fine. So I man up and get iTunes match, sync everything up between my laptop and my phone, make a playlist and head out listening to it. All of a sudden while I'm out, mid-song, the music stops. I go to see what's going on and everything is gone and has the icon to download next to it, and now I'm away from my wifi to boot, so charges apply. I don't understand. Now I have iCloud on my phone with 25 GB Total Storage and 25 GB Available because I don't understand what I should be using it for and iTunes match which, what, only works when I'm within spitting distance of my laptop? I've tried to get everything sorted out, paying a fee each time, and hitting roadblocks every step of the way; and on top of it, my phone is constantly telling me it can't do this or that because I don't have enough storage?? I realize I'm a bit of a noob, but c'mon, it shouldn't be this complicated or difficult, should it?

If you have no network access (3G, Wi Fi) you cannot stream music from the cloud. Period. The way you stop the behavior is to enable 3G, or pre-download the tracks you think you will want to listen to.

  • Itunes match wont work, music never shows on my iphone.

i recently purchased itunes match, and it never fully uploads my music from my computer. it gets about 95% though the process, errors out, and makes me sign out, and back in to retry. it also states that over 5,000 songs are "now available" yet they never show on my iphone... any ideas?

If you delete the music from the iPhone, yes. But perhaps you should be looking at what else is taking of storage on the iPhone, back it up, and delete those things as well.

  • Music Start/Stop Times with iTunes Match causes iOS Music App to glitch

I set Start Time and Stop Time values for my music in iTunes to crop off non-music parts of tracks, but the Start/Stop Times cause the iOS Music app to glitch out when the track streams via iTunes Match. If a track has a Start Time set, the track will get stuck, and repeat the first fraction of a second of the track over and over, seemingly for the amount of the Start Time. And if the Stop Time is set, the NEXT track will glitch out. For example, if a track has a Start Time of 0:10, the track will glitch out for at least 10 seconds before the track actually starts playing. Sometimes the track never stops advances beyond 0:00.
I think the problem caused by the fact that iTunes Match is streaming the entire track so the Music app just freaks out for the duration of the Start/Stop Times.
Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a workaround?
For now, I've just been searching my 22,000 song library for tracks with Start/Stop Times and exporting new hard-cropped files, but this is tedious, takes up hard drive space, and degrades the audio with lossy-to-lossy double-compression.

I'm having the exact same problem and from my research I believe that the old process of being able to turn ITM off, sync your music to your iPad, and then turn ITM back on no longer work.  You are correct that going through this process wipes out your music.  It's only on IOS 6.0 on my Gen 3 ipad because on my gen 1 iPad, I can't upgrade to IOS 6.0 and the old process still works fine under IOS 5.0.
In order to get around this I created a massive playlist (a superset of all my other playists) that I downloaded by using the download button in order to get local copies of my music on my ipad 3.0.
It seems to be working for now but I can't force my ipad to keep all that music local anymore.  If I download other music or movies in the future (and become low on space) Apple makes the decision about what to remove from my local copy in order to fit the new content on the device.

  • I have a number of audiobooks in my itunes library.  Can they be stored in the cloud via itunes match or only music?

I have a number of audiobooks in my Itunes library.  Can they be stored in the Cloud via Itunes match?  All of the info refers only to "music".

They cannot be stored on icloud at all

  • I have just purchased iTunes match, but my music is still taking up 4GB space on my iPhone, which is what it was doing before.  How do I clear space?

I thought that I understood that once music uploads or matches to iTunes match, that my library would no longer be stored (using space) on my iPhone.  Before the purchase, my library took 4GB space.  Since the purchase, I haven't downloaded/listened to any tracks, but it is still showing as using 4GB space on my phone.  And 2 days after the purchase, out of 1364 songs, 734 remain on my device, and not in Cloud (evident when selecting to show only tracks that have been downloaded to device).  So why has approximately only half of my library been stored in Cloud, and why, despite around half of my library having gone to Cloud, is it still using 4BG space on my phone???

    Hi,
On your iPhone Go to Settings > General > Manage Storage > Music - this tells you amount used for All songs and lists the music on your phone. You can delete music from here.
All your music in the cloud should now show download arrow but when you play a track, it is downloaded.

  • ITunes Match for selected music

    Hello everyone,
Hope you are all enjoying your holiday, whatever it may be
Here's a tricky one for you. I've thought about this for a long time, but I can't figure a way to do it, so maybe someone knows of a way. So, I use my MBP for my dj gigs, and I have one iTunes music collection in a external drive that I carry along containing it. This collection contains only music that I use to play when working, mostly electronic stuff, mostly singles and EPs.
Then, at home, the iMac has the main iTunes library, with all genres and all the stuff I listen on a daily basis, but not music I use for work, and this machine is registered with iTunes Match. Now, I would like to have the tracks I use for work to also be in the cloud, but I wouldn't want to mix them up with my general music collection, and even worst, I wouldn't want the iTunes library in the MBP to become filled with rock and classical music that I never play at my gigs.
Hope you are getting what I mean. Do you know of any way I could have all tracks in iTunes Match (general music and work music) but only have each to show up on their respective machine? Or is iTunes Match a "entire-collection-or-no-collection" kind of deal, and once you authorize one computer to your account you can't control what tracks will end up in it?
Thank you so much for reading!

Now that we're in the topic, could you help me with one more thing? So let's say I merge both libraries and upload my "work" tracks to iTunes Match. Having in mind that I have lot's of metadata associated with those tracks, like comments that describe the track's mood, key, bpm and a lot more, which are essential when I'm looking for the next track to play, what will happen to that metadata if for some reason the local copies are deleted and I need to get them again from iTunes Match? Do they maintain all the metadata? Or will I get just the file with basic metadata like title, artist and a couple more?
It's just that I have so much time invested in adding info to the tracks that I don't even want to think about losing all that
    Thanks a lot.

  • My daughter and I use the same PC. We have seperate iTunes accounts. . When I subscribed to iTunes Match all her music appeared on my iPhone. What can I do to resolve this

My daughter and I use the same PC for downloading onto iTunes
    We have different iTunes accounts
Mine has far less content than hers as you'd expect
My iPhone only showed the music held in my account until I subscribed to iTunes Match At that point all her music loaded onto my iPhone
Why? and what do I do to resolve this please?

iTunes Match is associated with a specific Apple Id. If you use the same Id to enable iTunes Match on your IOS device you will see the same Songs.
Once iTune Match is enabled on a device (your shared computer for example), Apple cares about not allowing another Apple Id to be associated with that same device for a period of 90 days.  Thus having more than one Apple Id associated with a single device to support multiple active iTunes Match subscriptions is simply not supported.
Whilst your music would be combined, you can from a single device associate more than one library with iTunes Match - until you can access separate devices this is perhaps the best compromise.

  • Can't download my iTunes Match collection of music anymore! PLEASE HELP! (Pics to prove!)

    Hi!
There is probably a pretty easy fix for this situation - it's just I can't figure out what it is. Thanks in advance for your help.
    Here's my situation;
    1. I have a pretty large collection of music which I paid to match a couple years ago. My computer which I originally used to subscribe to iTunes match has died. No problem right? Since I have already subscribed to iTunes Match. But wait...
    2. I wanted to download my entire music collection onto another one of my computers just because I want to keep a back-up of all my music - just incase some time in the future I do NOT want to subscribe to iTunes Match anymore.
    3. While I was able to download most of my collection - a ton of songs were not downloaded. But instead, I see as pictured in [1] below, an exclaimation point in a circle to the left of the song, and a cloud icon with an exclaimation point in it under the "Match" column.
    4. I am still able to play these songs - and download them individually, but not without going through a 4 step process FOR EACH SONG!!!
THERE MUST BE ANOTHER WAY to download all my music without going through this ridiculous process.
[1] STEP ONE - Select the song I want to download. If I double click it - I first see this message below that says, "The song "the beatles - Beetles-Hey Jude" could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" So, since I no longer have the original file, I click "Cancel". BUT, that's exactly the moment when THE SONG STARTS PLAYING - and the the cloud icon with the exclaimation point turns to a could icon with an down-arrow letting me know that I can now download the file. (Go to step 2)
[2]  BUT when I click that cloud icon with the down arrow, the cloud icon with the down arrow changes back to the cloud icon with the exclaimation point and then I get this message that says "The item was not added to iCloud because an error occurred." But the song seems to have downloaded in the right folder in my iTunes music folder. So, I hit OK, and I and I am still able to play this song. (Go to step 3)
[3] So at this stage, I am not sure why there is the CLoud icon with the Exclaimation point in it next to the song. Because it was just downloaded from the cloud, into my iTunes folder. But never the less the cloud icon with the exclaimation point is still there. The only way I can now get rid of that is to right click and select - "Add to iCloud".
[4] So now you see here below, STEP 4 - Hey Jude is downloaded, and matched to the cloud. THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY! Please help.

I have the same problem!!!!PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-I'm having some serious problems with installing iTunes on my laptop. I have searched and searched the internet and can not find any solution to my problem. I am receiving the error "itunes is not a valid win32 application' after the program finishes downloading. Sometimes however it will just stop in the middle of the download. I use a SONY VAIO VGN-NW25GF which was only purchased last year. It uses windows 7. I had trouble downloading itunes to begin with though eventually it worked, however since the new 10.1 update has been available ive been attempting to update it almost every time i use itunes. Each and every time it fails and i've had enough as i need to update my iphone software. I’ve since uninstalled both itunes and quicktime hoping it will reinstall properly. But nothing, the same problem is occurring and now i have no itunes program!
I've tried all the solutions online about deleting browing history/temp folder and any itunessetup.exe/quicktimesetup.exe files and nothing works. I've also tried downloading using a different browser and still nothing. I’ve done a virus scan, disk cleanup and disk defragment and NOTHIGN is working. I'm starting to get quite frustrated as i need this program for my iphone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks 
