ITunes Match Making My iMac Non-functioning

Recently when I try to upload a song to iTunes Match - it takes a very long time and stalls the loading of webpages and produces the beachball on iTunes.  If I load multiple songs at a time to iTunes, the wait time and disfunction increases.

same problem plus my itunes library now has multiple librarycopies (2 to 10) of each tune overloading the machine, as all but one of the copies are dead links ....

  • ITunes Match won't upload non-matched songs on my home network

As it says in the subject, iTunes Match won't upload non-matched songs on my home network. For a while I thought the problem was with iTunes Match itself. And maybe it still is somehow. But I recently discovered the problem only occurs on my own home network. Any time I add a song to iTunes that isn't in the iTunes store, it should upload it. But instead it just loops in failed attempts to upload, always stopping and starting over at step 1. Occasionally I'll get error messages like -9810, but more often it'll just continue to loop for hours on end. I recently took my MBP to a coffee shop and used their wifi and tried it there, and the songs uploaded without any problem at all. I never used to have this issue over the entire year I was using iTunes Match. My only guess as to what might have caused the issue is when we downgraded the speed of our internet. I can't recall for certain whether that was the exact time my issues began, but it's the only possible change I can think of. I've tried rebooting the router, turning iTunes Match and Genius off and on, rebooting the computer, creating a new iTunes Library, all not solving my problem. Any other ideas?

There's a longer thread discussing this problem over here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4160355?start=120&tstart=0
What I posted there is that if I enable QOS on my router and limit my upload bandwidth (I used a cap of 1024 kilobits/second) then iTunes Match stops looping and will successfully upload songs and complete match.
There aren't any blocked ports, it's really just iTunes being a pig and oversaturating the internet connection to a point of failure.
Super frustrating, it's been a bug for months. I wish I had a better solution.

  • How can I download songs from iTunes match to my iMac

How can I down load my music from iTunes match and play it on my iMac without having g3 or wifi?

    Hi tkattan,
iTunes Match is ran strictly off of Wi-Fi or a Cellular connection. Devices with iTunes Match turned off can have both the computer and device without any connection to the internet to download music via USB. However, iTunes Match is ran off of iCloud—a Wi-Fi/Cellular based product.
If you would like to download a song on your device connected to the internet:
Make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi or a Cellular Network.
Make sure your device is running iOS 5.0 or higher (only iDevices can run iTunes Match).
Go to "Music" and you will see music able to be downloaded from the cloud. (If you do not see your music, make sure you have General > Music > Show All Music "ON".)
Click the cloud symbol next to the songs you would like to stream them on your phone and without a Wi-Fi/Cellular connection.
    Hope this helps!

  • ITunes Match for the iMac - Music Files on an iPod?

I subscribe to iTunes Match and have an iPod Classic 160GB. Is it possible to use iTunes Match for my entire music library on my iMac & iPhone BUT put the actual song files on my iPod Classic? The problem is my music library is large, won't fit on my iMac Flash hard drive and iTunes Match is perfect. But I can't figure out how to get those songs onto my iPod Classic because iTunes Match is enabled on iTunes.
I would like to keep my iTunes library on the iMac using Match and have the physical songs be on the iPod Classic.
I tested this by putting 1 album on the iMac hd. Then syncing the iPod. Then deleting it from iTunes (the cloud icon came back so Match is doing it's thing and I deleted the physical song files). Sync'd again but this time I checked Manually Manage Music & Videos in the iTunes iPod Settings window before hand, thinking that would tell iTunes to not worry that the 1 Who album wasn't physically on my h/d anymore. But it didn't work. It removed the that album from the iPod Classic.
Is this possible and I don't have the correct settings in iTunes or on the iPod? Or is this a limitation of using iTunes Match?

Hey thanks, Jim... Actually I do have a back up of my entire library on an external drive. Is the process just dragging the songs and albums from the Finder (from the external drive backup) onto the iPod when I plug it in to iTunes and they copy over? Is it possible to create new or update existing Playlists with this method? But is key is to never sync the iPod with iTunes or do I need to check Manually Manage Music & Videos?
Or am I looking at this completely wrong. lol

  • HT204406 itunes match playlists from imac not appearing on ios devices

I've finally gotten my entire iTunes library onto iTunes Match.  (Be patient folks, it only took 4 weeks for my entire library to load!)
However, the Playlists that I've created on my iMac are not appearing on any of my IOS devices (iPad, iPhone, etc.).
Can anybody help me with what needs to be done on my iPhone and iPad to import my iTunes playlists from my iMac?
    Thanks in advance!

The cause is likely to be a corruption of the iTunes library on the iPhone.  The neatest route is to reset the iPhone to factory condition.
The alternate is to remove the iPhone library files and force it to rebuild them - this is a little more complex but has the upside that you do not need to recreate content on the iPhone, the steps needed are:
    1. Connect iPhone, open iExplorer (or equivalent)
    2. Navigate to iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control\iTunes
    3. Delete these 3 files:
              MediaLibrary.sqllitedb
              MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm
              MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal
    4. Hard reboot the iPhone (home button + sleep/wake button, hold until you see the apple logo)
Hope that these will work for you - the simplest alternates is here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22457142#22457142

  • Itunes match in 10.5 non developer build?

I updated to the non developer release of itunes 10.5 and my itunes match is gone?

it is only available in selected countries and also requires you to pay a yearly fee to Apple.
read the support documents that came with the installer.
Because you are a Developer, you might also be interested in the 10.5.1 build, get it at the portal.

  • ITunes Match 256 kbps (iMac / Extra Storage etc...)

Got a couple of questions if anyone can help?
If we sign up for iTunes Match (when it is available) and we have 15,000 songs approx (99% ripped off CD's), do we have to pay for the extra storage on top of the iTunes Match yearly fee?
Can we upgrade / download 256 kbps files to iTunes on iMac via iTunes Match or is that only possible on iOS devices?

Because this is what Apple told me to do when I called them about the issue.

  • Help! iTunes is making my iMac act like a Windows machine!

    Here is the basic problem:
Some songs will not play properly in iTunes, pausing often and causing the spinning beach ball of death to freeze my iMac for 5 to 10 minutes at a time, sometimes longer. I am also having problems ripping those songs to a CD.
I am trying to decide if I should uninstall iTunes or simply back everything up and do a clean install of Snow Leopard and iTunes.
I’m also wondering if simply getting more RAM would solve my woes. I have 2GB, which worked well for years. I have 4GB coming in the mail.
I have a 2008 iMac. It has about 175GB of free space on its hard drive, about 144 GB in use. With iTunes playing a file and nothing of particular note open, it has just under 1GB of free system memory, or RAM. I have both the latest version of Snow Leopard and iTunes installed. All software is up to date. Except, of course, that I'm not running Lion.
I have a 45GB in music and 54GB in podcasts in my iTunes library.
I have corrected my hard drive’s permissions repeatedly but am unaware of any other maintenance I should be doing on my hard drive.
Here are some observations that may or may not be helpful:
Songs in the same folder are behaving differently, some consistently playing without a problem, others consistently spinning the beach ball.  For example, five songs off an album will freeze up my iMac but the album’s other songs do not.
I can, however, duplicate the symptoms with otherwise dependable songs by having more applications open. Nothing major, say Safari, Finder and iTunes. What I don’t get is why some songs would play well and others not when only iTunes is open.
Having a handful of applications open now sometimes prompts the spinning beach ball of death. This never used to happen, hence the RAM coming in the mail.
When I check information on the malfunctioning music files, it shows they contain data, but I start getting the beach ball checking  the file’s “sharing & permissions” status in "Get Info."
Interestingly, I recently had to stop backing up my podcasts in Time Machine because some of them were crashing it. My music files, however, have been backing up fine in Time Machine, so far.
Also, when I try to copy my music files onto an external drive or my desk top – in anticipation of reinstalling iTunes -- my iMac cites error 36 and stops the process.
My iMac’s performace problems started to occur before I finally updated to Snow Leopard a few months ago. Indeed, I thought updating would solve them.
I had been regularly updating iTunes, however, I recall reading somewhere that upgrading to Snow Leopard while having an up-to-date iTunes installed might cause problems.
There you have it. Any advice or insights would he most welcome.

Well, I seem to have solved my own problem. Do I get 10 points, I wonder? It appears that my poor iMac was in desperate need of a masssive cleaning. Thanks to other posts here and elsewhere, I found out about Cocktail, a free download -- unless you chip in for the more advanced version. This is a powerful and easy to understand tool. I used it to perk my iMac up to a level I have not seen in a LONG time. The spinning beach ball of death must go play elsewhere.  Among other things, I cleared out all my caches, eliminated a ton of foreign languages and did several repairs, including tracking down and killing a corrupted permission. It also taught me how to tap into my computer's activity logs and gave me other useful insights. GOOD stuff. I did other things not related to Cocktail to free up processing power -- such as turning off file- size view option in Finder -- but Cocktail is what solved this problem. As I type this, I am happily listening to songs that earlier would not play. What a relief. I am now especially looking forward to that new RAM. We'll be blazing fast then, by gum.

  • ITunes 9: Movie chapters completely non-functional. Super-annoying!

Wondering if many other people are experiencing this; I didn't find much by searching.
Just updated to ver 9 today, and was immediately treated with a complete lack of chapter functionality in my movie files. These all worked fine before. It doesn't matter if I try to skip ahead with the double arrows, the right cursor key or by selecting a chapter number in the player window menu; the movie just skips to the end.
The only one that seems to work correctly is the official 'digital copy' of WALL-E I have on there. None of my homemade movies or Handbrake files' chapters work anymore.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

I have the same problem. Using chapters causes the movie to quit. Some file still work (specifically those created with iMovie/iDVD). Handbrake files with chapters don't work.

  • ITunes 5 making my iMac G5 Crash for 1st time!!!

This iTunes 5.0 update has caused my iMac G5 to crash several times since the I downloaded it. My iMac has only crashed once since I purchased it back in Feb of this year, now it has crased at least 4 times since the 5.0 update. What in the heck is going on. I'm writing this email from my PC laptop because I can't even do anything on my iMac.
THIS IS INSANE!! I NEED HELP!!! Has anyone else had this problem besides me? Is a fix coming out soon??
What should I do, I can't even use my iMac now?
    HELP!

    P.S.
For the fist time now, when I restart my iMac the start-up music is gone. I find this very strange. What in the world is going on?

  • How do you move an iphone from one mac to a new mac when both are using Itunes Match

I have an Imac (Mountain Lion) with two users sharing an Itunes account (Ver 11).  We each have iphones syncing to the computer (and to icloud separatly). I have just activated Itunes match on the IMac and on both phones.  I just bought a new MacBookPro and have activated Itunes match on it so I am sharing Itunes. Now, I want to move one of the iphones to the new MacBook and have it backing up to that computer instead of the Imac.  How should I proceed with synching the phone with the new computer?  How about the photos on the iphone?  Will they just load into the iphoto library on my new MacBook Pro.
Also, can I still synch the phones manually and move over playlist from Itunes to the phone?  I am assuming that when you turn off itunes match on the phone those playlists will be active.  I want to make sure that say, when I am on a plane or have no wifi or cell, that I can still use the phone as an Ipod.  With Itunes match you are streaming and always need a signal.  There has to be a way to retain the simple music player functionality, right?

There's too much above for me to specifically answer your questions, but I'll assume from the title that you're basically trying to sync to a new computer.  So here are some articles to help you.

  • You can use iTunes Match on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 5 days.

I only have 1 Apple ID.  I turned off iTunes Match on my iMac, and now I cannot turn it back on.  I get this error when I try to just turn iTunes Match back on, on the same computer, with the same Apple ID that I used orginially to subscribe to iTunes Match:
This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.
You can use iTunes Match on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 5 days.
I checked for iTunes updates.  None are available since I am using the latest.
    I stopped/started iTunes.  I rebooted the iMac.
    NOTHING HELPS!!!!!!!!
I have a Mac Mini and I use the same Apple ID on iTunes there.  I was able to turn iTunes Match off and back on with no trouble at all but my iMac refuses to allow me to turn on iTunes Match.
    Now what do I do?

Unless you really only have one AppleID that you use with the iTunes Store there's really nothing you can do. In the case of having only one AppleID you should contact iTunes Store support, since that would be a server-side problem.

  • How can download all the songs from itunes match to an ipad 2?

I activate itunes match in my Imac, the process of scan and identify the library songs is finished successfully, after that i activate the itunes match in my ipad,  I need download all the songs in the ipad, I select Music Icon and don't appear the (download all) button in the section of songs,  i have to push the cloud button in each song to download?
I enter in the section of albums and playlist and in this section the button download all appears. How can i download all the songs to the device?

I just found the answer by myself.  Instead of clicking Cloud icon one by one, highlight all the songs in Cloud (after sorting by Cloud status) and riight click, download.  Now I am getting all the songs back to my local machine.  I will sync my iOS devices tomorrow and just GET RID OF iTUNES MATCH.  To me, it was a disaster.  Worse than their map app.

  • I cannot view the option to enable itunes match on my iphone 4s, does anyone have a solution for this?

I have an iPhone 4S wi iOS 5.1 installed and I can't view the option to enqble iTunes Match under the Music menu. I have subscribed to the service and it works fine on my iPad. Does anyone have a solution to this? Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going on?
    Thanks in advance!

Yes, that's exactly where I was looking, and that option to turn iTunes Match on/off was non-existent, however, I don't know what happened, it just appeared and is working fine.
