ITunes Match matching very slow

I bought and started iTunes Match 12/24/12. It is only ‘matching’ 20 songs per day on average. I only have 3310 to match.
Why is this taking so long. I know one reason is iTunes Match keeps stopping the matching process. Last night it match zero songs. I have to keep restarting it.
At this rate, it will take 165 days. Not cool. I figure if I had the max of 25,000 songs to match it would take 3.4 Years!
I have a 2 year old Mac Pro, 12 GB memory, version 10.8.2.

I believe I have found the answer to why my ‘matching’ process is so slow. It is most likely because my Internet Upload speed is very slow.
I found this out from reading this forum. Under the basic >iTunes >iTunes Match heading, there is a Tab called ‘User Tips’. Excellent source of information. Had I read through that section before I purchased iTunes Match, I may have decided it was not a good choice for me...
Thanks for all the great information.

  • ITunes sync is very slow?

iTunes sync is very slow with several minutes of the spinning color dot.  Usually happens during the last step (7) of the sync.  I then discover that even though I marked to sync all photos from Aperture file, photos are not synced.  iTunes seems to be getting more and more of a problem.  Any thoughts?

  • Using iTunes Match, very little album art is showing

I'm using Mavericks on a 2009 unibody (white plastic) Macbook.  This is not my main computer so I'm trying to free up storage space.  I had the idea to delete all of the music files from the Music folder and just use iTunes Match as a streaming service, just like on my iPhone and iPad.  (The music files are stored on my main Mac with multiple redudant backups.)
I may have gotten overzealous in deleting data.  I saw an album art folder with over 1 gigabyte of data and deleted that as well.
Now all of the music still shows up in the Album view - as it should - however very few of the tracks have any album art.  I gave it some time to see if the art would download from iTunes Match, but it's not happening (get album art is enabled in preferences).
I had the idea to hold down the Option key while restarting iTunes and create a new library, then let iTunes Match populate it.  I don't want to download any content, I just want everything to show up with album art.
Will this work, and how would I remove the corrupted library if it does?

Thanks but still no luck I'm afraid.
To update: I have been using itunes 6 from the outset and have always manually updated the ipod - it has never even been switched to automatic as I changed this at the start (advice from a friend). File formats for the affected tracks are all either AIFF or Apple Lossless - same as all the unaffected tracks.
The even stranger thing is that artwork for some albums, where all the tracks were imported manually at the same time, shows for some tracks on the ipod and not others. The artwork does, however, show for all of the tracks on the ipod when viewed through itunes!

  • ITunes Match horribly slow lately?

I have been an avid user of Match since its rollout.
Usually, when I add an album to the cloud, it takes all of 1 minute to do.
But this week (though possibly longer, as I haven't been adding much lately) it can take up to 20 minutes to match an album.
It gets through the "gathering info' stage fairly quickly but when it gets to matching the progress bar stalls.
I find it unbearable. Is this a problem with Apple's servers? In other words, is this a widespread problem, or is it just me?
At this rate I'm ready to unsubscribe.

Totally agree about iTunes Match getting worse and worse as time goes on. When I first used it, there was more flexibility and the service was quick and effective. Now it takes eons to connect to Apple's servers, upload and then find the material on other devices. Super buggy, totally screwed up all my album artwork and now it is severely unreliable and slow. I produce high quality rips from vinyl and would love it if this service worked as originally advertised but more and more I find myself endlessly frustrated whilst arm wrestling these devices into communicating with each other and with the iCloud servers.
It seems to me Quality Control at Apple is on a serious downturn. This is just one example of a never ending list of issues with their software that seemingly never get fixed. There are still severe bugs and design issues that have plagued iOS since it was first released back in 2007 that have amazingly never been corrected. Now instead of the stability and reliability of OSX making its way to iOS it seems the flakiness and buggy software is becoming the norm on my Mac too.
Worried Apple has the lost the plot in the QC department. Perhaps less time spent chasing features and competing with Google, Samsung et al. and more getting back to the quality, design and stability that brought them the customer base they currently enjoy.
    Wake up Apple, you're slipping!

  • ITunes match very spotty

iTunes match works off and on, more not than so. All software up to date

I get this too. Pretty annoying. Its kinda like when Pandora stops playing and is waiting for you to click on "I am still listening". I have to click on shuffle again to get it to resume. Also It seems like some of my artwork is gone. Many songs that had artwork dont now...I think...or it could just be I never noticed...
A note.. I am using 3g to play because my work internet *****...and I have unlimited data so could it be the 3G loosing connection pausing the stream? It just never resumes without me interacting with the device.

  • Why iTunes is running very slow after v10.6.1 update?

Once i update iTunes to version 10.6.1, it runs very very slow... almost to block OS X.
i wonder if iTunes is rebuilding the music library or what, because this is very unusual in apps or any OS X software.
thanks to all can help me in this question.

    Hello rcruzb -
I don't have enough information about your situation to really deep-dive with you into a sure fix, but I can at least tell you that I was experiencing similar slowness/freezing in iTunes after updating to 10.6 - and it wasn't fixed in 10.6.1.
I took some steps to isolate my issue, and you might consider taking those same steps (as they might yield a different result for you). Here's what I did to help isolate what caused my issue, along with the inevitable solution I found for me:
    - First, if you haven't done it recently, make sure your library is consolidated and organized automatically. You don't HAVE to do this, but it significantly improves performance in iTunes when the library is all in one spot and search indexing isn't spread all over the machine. Open iTunes, click iTunes (in your menubar), Preferences, Advanced, and ensure "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" are both checked. To consolidate and organize your library, you can select File (in your menubar), Library, Organize Library, then ensure that both "Consolidate Files" and "Reorganize files in the folder 'iTunes Media'" are checked (if the latter option is grayed out, it just means it's already setup properly that way). Depending on the size of your library, this can take some time.
    - Second, you can attempt to rebuild your iTunes Library. This is a simple process which essentially has you create a new library, then take all the content from the old library and pull it back in. This can remedy issues where the iTunes Library itself is bloated, corrupted, or simply trying to search through some broken threads and taking a long time. Rather than flush all of this out here, I'll refer you to the official Apple support document: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
    - Third, and this is what I determined fixed my issue: Turn off iTunes Match and/or Genius Mode. iTunes 10.5 had a known issue where the Genius Mode could become corrupt or would consume massive amounts of RAM, slowing iTunes to a crawl. iTunes Match actually enforces the use of Genius Mode - so I can't tell whether it's one or the other causing the freezing since they run together - so turning off iTunes Match turns off Genius Mode (but not the other way around). If you're using either of these services in iTunes, turn them off and relaunch iTunes. If your situation is anything like mine, you will see a dramatic improvement in the quality and responsiveness of iTunes. If you want to continue using iTunes Match, I'd recommend splitting up your iTunes into two libraries: one for music / iTunes Match / Genius, and one for TV Shows/Podcasts/Movies/Books/iOS syncing. To create a separate library, hold the Option key while clicking the iTunes app in your dock/finder/Launchpad and select "Create New Library". Save it somewhere and be sure to give it a distinctly different name so you don't get confused. Turn iTunes Match on in this new library and let it populate all your music, and use that library for music. When you want other media, hold option again when launching iTunes and say "Choose Library", then select the other.
I hope this helps! It completely, 100% resolved my issues with iTunes 10.6. I know it's not a sure-thing and may not be a universal solution for everyone, but hopefully the steps above at least give you some things to consider that may have resolve or at least narrow down what's happening. Best of luck.

  • ITunes on XP VERY slow!

New to this, so I apologize if I'm beating a dead horse, but I need some advice.
    Two things.
    1) iTunes is very slow connecting to the store or changing locations within the store. Its okay on downloading songs (not great but doesn't take minutes like switching pages does). I have a cable modem, lightning fast with everything else. Highly optimized. But iTunes just sits there for minutes when I change from, say, "Rock" to "Pop". I've tried running a blank system: no firewall, no other applications, no Norton. And no difference. What gives?
    2) It doesn't like to exit. I close iTunes, and it cuts the application, but it is still alive and kicking under "Processes"; it generally eats 40-60 Mb of memory and 99% of CPU while in this state. Like right now, I exited 5 minutes ago and the process is still churning away.
Does anyone have any suggestions on getting this thing optimized? And really, what the heck is it doing????
    Thanks!

There are several ways in which an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer.
Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface.
    Slow performance.
iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly.
You see an alert while syncing stating "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."

As above. Everything is perfect, but when i want to sync my music with my iphone 4 or with my ipad it takes forever. Any suggestions ?

I have very slow itunes since SP1, but have found a remarkably easy work round.  Start itunes, start what you want to do - like sync to ipod et al, then just click the windows 'show desktop icon' and itunes does the stuff properly!

  • ITunes 10.6 very slow to start up

I installed iTunes 10.6 under Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) and it is VERY slow to launch.  I uninstalled it (fortunately I had backed up my iTunes library first) and reinstalled 10.5.  It is significantly faster.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and, if so, what is the fix (other than uninstalling it)?

  • Search iTunes store is very slow

Has anyone seen serious delays when searching the iTunes store? Say for example the status bar quickly gets up to about 80% then hangs for 5-10 seconds before completing the search?

For over a week now I am experiencing the same thing. The iTunes Store is SO SLOW to load page to page. Specifically, it sometimes takes several MINUTES, not seconds, for pages to load. I have tried at various times of day (thinking it was traffic volume), but still no luck. I am on a high speed broadband connection, and everything else is fast. What is going on with the iTunes Store?

  • Itunes 10.4 very slow downloads

    I am running OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.4 .
My problem is that iTunes is downloading very slowly at around 200 kb. I have tested my download speed and it has came to 11mb download speed, all my other programs are working well apart from iTunes. Can someone help?

OK I need someone to help me understand this.  If I connect to my home network, iTunes will launch normally!!!
I am not connected to home sharing - i don't have any song on my server at home, etc., etc., - however if I connect to my SL server at home over VPN, my iTunes acts normal.  Does anybody have a suggestion at what may be going on????  I noticed last night at home that iTunes was speedy but didn't think it had anything to do with being on my own network.
